is

representative
of
the
Virginia
cancer
society
that
certainly,
as
the
lead
agency
organization
in
the
country,
that's
helping
promote
the
good
message
about
the
health
in
the
country
and
the
different
communities
so
kena.
Thank
you
for
being
our
apartment.

Thank
you,
sir,
and
certainly
certainly
it's
a
cool
day,
but
a
warm
message
goes
out
to
the
folks
here
in
Arlington
for
doing
such
a
wonderful
job
in
showing
leadership
on
this
issue.
Again,
my
name
is
Keenan
Caldwell
with
the
American
Cancer
Society,
and
this
is
the
36th
anniversary
of
the
Great
American
Smokeout,
something
started
by
our
organization
that
continues
to
continues
to
grow
and
to
allow
us
an
opportunity
to
talk
about
these
issues.

It
used
to
be
that
this
day
was
marked
to
help
people
stop
smoking,
but
now
it
allows
us
a
platform
to
talk
about
the
real,
the
real
key
policy
issues
that
are
involved
around
tobacco
use
and
we
know
what
works
in
this
area.
So
we
continue
to
to
look
at
this
day
to
say
and
be
a
part
of
kickoff
like
this,
that
show
that
people
really
want
to
work
on
this
issue
and
create
healthy
environments
for
their
citizens.

The
three
things
that
that
we
know
work
around
this
area
are
creating
strong
smoke,
free
indoor
places
smoke-free
places
such
as
this
but
indoors
as
well,
and
continuing
to
work
on
that,
and
this
delicate
hope
said:
raising
the
price
on
cigarettes.
Raising
the
tax
on
cigarettes
is
another
deterrent
to
kids
to
start
smoking.
B
It's
another
very
proven
and
effective
way
to
stop
tobacco
use
and
then
there's
also
putting
funding
towards
tobacco
prevention
programs,
which
helps
stop
kids
from
ever
starting
to
use
the
product,
and
certainly
something
like
this,
where
you're
encouraging
people
to
not
smoke
in
public
areas.
As
said,
it's
a
great
way
to
show
that
this
is
an
environment,
that's
healthy
for
the
citizens
of
Arlington.
So
we
thank
you
for
being
a
allowing
us
to
be
here
with
you
all
today.

As
you
might
imagine,
on
these
issues,
your
representatives
from
this
area,
delegate,
Dave,
England
and
certainly
this
champion
here
to
my
left.
Patrick
Cote-
have
done
a
tremendous
amount
of
work
and
will
be
doing
and
our
happy
to
be
partnering
with
him
on
the
several
pieces
of
legislation
this
upcoming
year.
That
will
be
addressing
more
more
of
the
areas
that
I
spoke
about
about,
creating
more
smoke-free
environments,
raising
the
cigarette
taxes
and
those
kinds
of
things
that
we
know
will
make
a
difference
for
all
Virginians.
