A
Madagascar
is
the
fourth
largest
island
in
the
world
and
it's
found
just
off
the
southeast
coast
of
africa.
It
is
home
to
so
many
species
that
can
be
found
nowhere
else
on
earth.
Apart
from
this
island,
species
of
primates
called
lemurs
carnivores
called
fossa
little
hedgehog
type.
Animals
called
tenrix
lots
of
special
animals
that
can
be
found
nowhere
else.
Unfortunately,
madagascar
is
in
a
lot
of
trouble.
A
About
95
of
the
forest
home
has
disappeared
from
madagascar,
the
human
population
is
growing
and
these
people
need
places
to
live,
and
they
also
need
people
places
to
farm.
So
they
cut
down
the
woods
to
burn
it
for
charcoal
or
to
make
their
houses
and
they
turn
the
land
into
farming.
Unfortunately,
after
the
trees
are
cut
down,
there's
a
lot
of
rain
in
madagascar
and
a
lot
of
the
soil
is
washed
down
into
the
sea,
which
also
affects
the
coral
reefs
and
makes
a
lot
of
the
animals
sick
there
as
well.
A
We
can
try
and
help
the
people
of
madagascar
to
try
and
protect
the
animals
out
there,
and
today
I'm
going
to
introduce
you
to
two
other
very
special
animals.
The
first
week
critter
I'm
going
to
introduce
you
to
today
is
a
special
little
creepy
crawly
that
comes
from
madagascar
and
his
name
is
craig
number
37..
A
A
Sometimes
the
predators
can't
see
what
animal
they're
bumped
into
and
if
they
give
a
hissy
may
think
it's
a
snake
and
gives
them
a
chance
to
run
away
like
cockroaches
are
types
of
invertebrates,
so
they
don't
have
any
backbones,
but
they
have
got
a
hard.
What's
called
an
exoskeleton
on
the
back
of
their
body,
all
right,
they
are
insects,
so
that
means
that
they
have
six
legs.
A
A
She
doesn't
eat
rubbish
and
stuff
like
that,
and
some
people
think
cockroaches
come
into
your
house
to
do.
She
has
a
diet
of
rotten,
leaves,
fallen,
fruit
and
bark,
so
lots
of
stuff
that's
fallen
on
the
floor
of
the
forest,
and
these
guys
are
so
important
for
the
rainforest
of
madagascar
because
they
eat
these
rotten
and
fallen
leaves
they
eat
the
bark
they
eat,
the
fallen
fruit
and
when
they
go
to
the
toilet,
they're
actually
putting
the
nutrients
their
energy
back
in
the
groin
to
help
the
trees
grow.
A
So
these
guys
are
really
important
for
the
whole
ecosystem
in
madagascar.
Now
craig
here
is
nearly
fully
grown.
She
is
about
two
inches
long.
They
can
grow
a
little
bit
bigger
than
that
they
can
live
for
about
two
to
three
years,
but
craig
number
37.
She
is
six
months
17
days
and
three
and
three
quarter
hours
old,
so
she
is
not
as
old
as
she
can
be,
but
she
is
a
great
she's,
a
good
age.
A
Now
she
lives
at
wikileaks
headquarters
with
150
of
her
brothers
and
sisters
and
what's
called
a
colony
of
cockroaches
they're,
all
called
craig,
though
so
it
gets
a
little
bit
confusing
who's.
Who,
but
craig
number
37
is
one
of
our
bigger
females.
Now
you
can
tell
she's
a
female
because,
unlike
the
males,
she
doesn't
have
large
bumps
on
the
back
of
their
head
and
I'll
show
you
craig
number
74.
A
craig
number
74
I've
got
with
me
today.
He
is
a
male,
so
craig
number
74
you
can
see
on
the
back
of
his
head.
He
has
got
these
two
large
bumps
here
and
that's
what
these
males
use
to
fight
each
other.
They
use
them
to
fight
other
males,
so
they
can
dominate
and
get
more
females.
So
you
can
see
he
also.
If
you
look
at
his
antennas,
we'll
probably
need
to
see
a
wee
bit
closer.
You
can
see
on
his
antennas.
He's
actually
got
furrier
antenna,
so
you
can
tell
he's
a
male
as
well.
A
So
our
next
week,
I'm
going
to
introduce
you
to
is
another
type
of
creepy
crawly
that
comes
from
the
rainforest
in
madagascar,
and
this
here
is
stampy
and
stampy
is
a
giant
millipede.
Now
these
guys
are
not
insects
because
they
have
a
lot
more
legs
than
an
insect.
Insects
have
six
eggs.
These
guys
can
have
up
to
750
legs.
So
when
they're
first
born,
they
hatch
out
of
legs
and
they
have
six
pairs
of
legs
and
they
will
grow
when
they
grow.
A
Each
segment
of
their
body
has
two
pairs
of
legs,
so
four
legs
in
each
segment
of
their
body,
whereas
centipedes,
which
some
people
get
confused
from
millipedes,
they
are
a
lot
flatter
than
the
millipedes
and
they
only
have
one
pair
of
legs
on
each
segment.
So
that's
how
you
can
one
of
the
main
differences
between
centipedes
and
millipedes.
A
Now,
just
like
craig,
the
cockroach
stampy
here
loves
to
eat
the
rotten,
leaves
and
fallen
fruit.
These
guys
are
what
a
what's
called
detritivores
and
that
means
that
they
eat
the
detritus.
The
fallen
leaves
and
stuff
like
that
on
the
ground,
so
they're
very
important
for
that
rainforest
habitat
now
she
has
lots
of
legs,
but
she
also
has
these
two
little
antennas
at
the
front
of
the
head
and
you
can
see
she's
moving
around
little
by
little
to
make
sure
she
doesn't
fall
off.
A
She
doesn't
actually
have
any
eyes,
so
she
can't
see-
and
she
can't
hear
either
so
she
is
using
these
antennas
to
make
sure
that
she
doesn't
fall
off
my
arm
here
now.
Imagine
if
you
had
300
to
7
up
to
750
legs
and
you
move
them
all
at
once.
If
you
did
that,
if
you
trip
over
yourself,
she
moves
her
legs
and
little
waves.
A
If
that
doesn't
work,
these
guys
actually
can
give
out
a
poisonous
secretion
from
their
back
end.
So
if
an
animal
like
a
lemur
tried
to
come
down
and
munch
on
one
of
these
guys,
they
would
get
a
very
nasty
taste
instead
of
my
hand,
that
would
make
them
feel
quite
sick.
Now,
some
lemurs
are
actually
pretty
clever.
They're
realized
that
these
guys
do
give
out
this
poison,
so
what
they
do
they
catch
these
guys
in
the
wild.
A
They
give
them
a
little
nibble,
just
annoy
them
enough
to
give
out
that
poison,
and
then
they
rub
the
poison
on
their
fur,
and
you
may
think
that's
really
strange
little
explorers,
but
what
they're
doing
is
actually
using
the
poison
to
kill
the
fleas
on
their
body.
So
it's
really
cool
to
show
you
that
these
guys
actually
have
their
uses
for
other
animals,
not
just
for
food
on
the
island
of
madagascar.
A
A
So
you
have
to
be
very
careful
when
you
come
across
the
centipede
or
especially
giant
centipede.
If
you're
ever
in
the
wilds
of
asia
or
south
america,
you
can
come
across
these
giant
centipedes
that
can
give
you
a
very
nasty
nip
but
millipedes,
just
like
stampy
here
are
very
friendly
and
they
don't
bite.
A
So
little
explorers.
Today's
book
is
about
another
type
of
really
cool
madagascar,
animal
one
of
my
favorite
types
of
animals
about
lemurs,
so
the
book
is
called
how
to
lose
a
lemur
and
it's
by
fran
preston,
gavin.
Everyone
knows
that
once
a
lemur
takes
a
fancy
to
you,
there
is
not
that
much
can
be
done
about
it.
A
A
A
I
was
lost
and
all
alone,
but
then
one
by
one
I
started
to
see
some
familiar
faces.
They
took
me
by
the
hand-
and
we
went
back
over
the
mountain
back
through
the
desert
back
through
the
skies
back
across
the
lake
back
on
the
train
and
home
at
last,
and
then
I
began
to
realize
that
maybe
just
maybe
they
were
not
so
bad
after
all,
and
perhaps
we
could
be
friends
because,
as
everyone
knows,.
