A
So
when
we
talk
about
animals,
lots
of
people
automatically
think
about
the
larger
species
like
elephants,
hippos,
giraffes,
rhinos,
tigers,
lions
and
things
like
that,
but
at
weak
critters
we
like
to
focus
on
the
smaller
more
unusual
animals
or
animals
that
people
sometimes
are
a
wee
bit
more
scared
of
or
afraid
of
today,
our
first
week,
critter
that
I've
got
with
me
today
is
called
bruno,
and
this
here
is
bruno
and
bruno
is
just
a
little
mice.
A
Lots
of
people
are
actually
really
scared
of
mice
because
they
don't
like
them
to
come
into
their
houses,
but
they
are
a
really
cool
group
of
animals.
Mice
are
mammals,
so
just
like
us,
they
are
warm
blooded.
They
have
got
a
lovely
fur
coat
to
keep
them
warm
and
nice
cool
weather,
and
these
guys
have
backbones
just
like
us
as
well.
So
they've
got
a
skeleton
in
their
body
and
bones
to
keep
them
upright.
Now
mice
being
mammals,
when
they
have
babies,
the
females
will
feed
their
babies,
milk,
they
don't
live
a
very
long
time.
A
They
only
live
for
about
two
years
and
in
that
time
a
female
moist
can
have
hundreds
of
babies.
They
have
what's
called
a
fast
metabolism.
That
means
that
their
heart
beats
really
quickly
and
they
breathe
really
quickly.
So,
though,
bruno
here
looks
like
he's
shaking
a
little
bit,
that's
actually
just
him
breathing
and
his
heart
beating
okay.
He
moves
very
quickly
because
he's
got
a
fast
metabolism,
and
that
means
that
they
don't
live
a
very
long
time
compared
to
larger
animals
like
elephants
and
whales
which
have
a
very
slow
heartbeat
and
a
slow
metabolism.
A
They
do,
they
live
a
lot
longer
and
they
don't
have
as
many
young
in
their
lifetime
as
the
likes
of
a
mice.
Now
mice
come
in
lots
of
different
shapes
and
sizes.
Believe
it
or
not.
The
smallest
mice
in
the
world
is
an
african
pygmy
mice
about
this
size.
Okay,
so
just
bigger
than
a
pinecone,
and
they
are
very
small
and
they
belong
to
a
family
called
rodents.
Rodents
are
mammals
that
have
these
special
teeth.
A
They've
got
two
large
incision
teeth
on
the
top
of
their
mouth
and
two
at
the
bottom
at
the
front
of
their
mouth,
and
these
teeth
will
grow
their
whole
lives.
So
rodents
like
mice,
rats,
hamsters
guinea
pigs.
Things
like
that
will
always
need
to
chew
on
things
to
keep
those
teeth,
nice
and
trim.
So
that's
why,
if
a
mice
comes
into
your
house,
you'll
often
find
they'll
chew
bits
of
cardboard
or
chewed
bits
of
wood,
because
they're
keeping
their
mouth
nice
and
their
teeth
nice
and
trim.
A
Now
on
the
front
of
bruno's
face
here,
you
can
see
he's
got
these
little
hairs,
so
he's
not
turning
around
he's
got
these
little
hairs
called
whiskers
and
he
uses
those
to
make
sure
he
doesn't
bump
his
head
into
anything.
Okay
make
make
sure
that
when
he's
out
at
night
time
when
he's-
and
he
can't
see
very
well
that
he
doesn't
hit
his
head
now-
mice
have
these
lovely
tails
on
their
bodies
at
the
end
here
and
what
a
lot
of
people
don't
realize
they
use
their
tails
for
balance.
A
So
if
I
was
to
move
bruno
like
this,
you
can
see
he's
using
his
tail
almost
like
another
limb,
to
hold
on
to
my
fingers
to
move
from
one
place
to
the
next.
Just
like
a
title,
walker
would
use
a
a
long
pole
to
make
sure
they
don't
fall
off
the
tightrope.
These
guys
will
use
their
tail
to
help
them
balance
to
move
from
one
place
to
the
next.
A
Are
we
country
and
in
other
parts
of
europe
and
in
the
uk
there
are
small
mice
called
harvest
mice,
and
these
mice
are
actually
an
endangered
species?
Okay,
so
when
lots
of
people
think
about
ruins
and
ice,
they
don't
think
realize
that
they
can
be
in
danger
as
well
and
harvest.
Mice
are
in
trouble
in
the
wild,
because
a
lot
of
farmers
are
making
their
fields
a
lot
bigger.
So
that
means
taking
away
a
lot
of
the
hedgerows
and
the
places
the
harvest.
A
Mice
would
like
to
hide,
but
also
they're,
using
pesticides
on
the
crops
to
kill
insects
and
bugs
which
makes
the
harvest
mice,
sick
or
they're,
using
big
machines
to
process
and
get
all
the
materials
the
from
their
crops.
So,
unfortunately,
lots
of
harvest
mice
are
in
trouble
from
that.
So
it's
so
important
to
remember
that
it's
not
just
big
animals
that
can
be
in
trouble
around
the
world.
A
A
Now
there
are
lots
of
different
types
of
rodents
around
the
world.
As
I
mentioned,
the
smallest
is
an
african
pygmy
mice.
The
largest
is
a
cappy
bar.
It's
like
a
large
guinea,
pig
type,
rodent
that
comes
from
south
america
and
in
our
wee
country
we
have
lots
of
different
rooms.
We
have
mice
rats.
We
also
have
squirrels
now
lots
of
people
when
you
look
at
squirrels
will
think
about
the
grey
squirrel,
but
believe
it
or
not.
A
The
grey
squirrel
doesn't
come
from
our
wee
country,
they
actually
come
from
north
america
and
they
were
introduced
to
our
countries
in
the
1900s,
okay
and
the
somebody
thought
it
would
be
really
nice
to
have
these
grey
squirrels
in
their
garden.
But
are
we
country
is
made?
It
has
a
native
red
squirrel.
This
squirrel
is
smaller
than
a
gray
squirrel
and
unfortunately,
over
the
years
the
gray
squirrels
have
bred,
their
numbers
have
increased
and
they
can't
they
out-compete
the
red
squirrels.
A
So
the
red
squirrels
are
losing
their
houses,
their
homes
and
the
trees
and
being
pushed
out
and
becoming
more
endangered.
Unfortunately,
the
grey
squirrels
also
carry
a
little
pox
virus
that
makes
the
red
squirrels
very
sick.
So
it
just
shows
you
just
like
trevor
the
king
toad.
He
moved
to
australia.
A
So
little
explorers
our
next
week,
critter
is
called
scampi
and
scampi
is
a
striped
skunk
and
just
like
bruno
the
moist
with
slots.
People
are
scared
of
lots
of
people
automatically
don't
like
skunks,
because
they
are
known
for
being
very,
very
smelly.
Well,
what
you
don't
realize
about
skunks
is
that
they
are
only
smelly
when
they
get
really
scared
or
nervous.
They
have
this
special
scent
gland
which
they
have
at
the
base
of
their
tail
and
when
they
get
scared.
A
If
they
come
across
something
like
a
bear,
a
mountain
lion
or
a
wolf
in
the
wilds
of
north
america,
they
will
stamp
their
feet
and
fluff
their
body
up
to
try
and
make
themselves
look
scary.
If
that
doesn't
work,
they
will
spray
them
with
a
really
strong
smell
that
smells
like
smells,
not
very
pleasant.
It's
like
burnt
tires
and
rotten
onions,
and
it
can
be
smelt
over
three
miles
away
and
they
can
spray
you
up
to
10
meters
away
as
well.
A
So
you
have
to
be
very
careful
if
you
come
across
the
skunk,
but
believe
it
or
not.
They
don't
actually
like
spraying
because
they
have
a
really
good
sense
of
smell
and
they
don't
want
to
smell
that
smell
either.
So
they
only
do
it
when
they're
really
scared.
So
it's
important,
if
you
see
a
skunk,
not
to
be
scared
of
it
or
to
automatically
think
that
they
are
going
to
spray
you,
because
they
only
do
it
when
they're
nervous
now
skunks
come
from
north
and
south
america
and
there's
lots
of
different
types
of
skunks.
A
All
of
them
are
black
and
white,
and
these
stripes
are
the
largest
species
you
do
get
oxy
pygmy
skunks
in
mexico,
which
are
an
endangered
species,
are
not
very
big.
Now
they've
got
this
thick
fur
to
keep
them
nice
and
warm,
obviously
when
they
get
cold,
and
it's
always
this
black
and
white
color
to
make
worn
off
predators
now,
if
we
look
closely
at
she
likes
to
cuddle
when
she's
hiding
the
bite
and
hold
on
tight.
So
let's
see
turn
around
when
we
look
closely
at
scampi,
we
can
see
in
her
face.
A
She's
got
quite
small
eyes,
so
she
doesn't
have
very
good.
Eyesight
she's
got
a
very
good
sense
of
smell
and
she
uses
her
nose
to
sniff
around
to
find
the
insects
and
bugs
and
stuff
that
she
loves
to
eat.
She's
got
lovely
powerful
claws
on
the
front
of
her
feet
too.
She
uses
for
ripping
open
rotten
logs
and
digging
in
the
ground
to
find
her
insect
food.
A
These
guys,
although
they
love
insects
and
bugs
they
can
eat
and
hunt
other
animals
like
small
rabbits
and
squirrels
and
stuff
like
that,
and
they
love
berries
and
fruit
as
well.
So
they
have
a
very
dad.
They're
called
what
what's
what's
called
omnivores
because
they
eat
fruit
and
berries
as
well
as
animals
they're,
not
carnivores
and
they're,
not
herbivores.
They
are
omnivores
and
a
really
special
species.
A
A
Is
that
you
he
glared
at
a
millipede
crawling
towards
him.
I
don't
think
so.
The
millipede
replied,
but
I
do
let
out
a
stink
when
I
get
scared
like
this.
The
millipede
curled
up
in
a
spiral
and
squirted
lenny
gave
the
squirt
a
stiff.
It
was
definitely
disgusting,
but
it
was
not
the
whiff
he
would.
Sniff
lenny
closed
his
eyes
and
tried
to
put
the
smell
out
of
his
mind,
but
the
nasty
knife
hung
around
is
that
you,
he
said
to
the
stinkburg
bird
nesting
in
the
mangroves.
Sorry
said
the
bird
a
little
embarrassed.
A
A
Are
you
the
horrid
smell
interrupting
my
snooze?
Maybe
possibly
I
mean
I
do
stink,
but
have
you
asked
the
skunk
he's
way
smellier
than
me
quite
rude
called
the
skunk
who
was
playing
in
a
hollow
lenny
gave
both
the
anteater
and
the
skunk
a
big
sniff,
but
neither
was
the
whiff
he
could
sniff.
He
settled
down
in
a
sunny
spot
to
try
and
snooze,
but
it
was
no
good
whatever
it
was
that
nasty
nif
was
getting
right
up
his
nose.
A
A
A
A
No,
so
actually
said
the
sloth,
you
you
see
by
the
time
I
get
clean.
I
am
already
dirty
again.
The
greenish
tins
you
see
on
me
is
algae
and
can
cause
quite
a
stink,
yuck
thought
lenny,
but
he
wasn't
interested
in
the
details.
He
just
wanted
to
sniff
the
sloth
and
nail
the
nasty
nif.
He
took
a
deep
breath
and,
oh
you
do
stink,
but
it's
not
you
either
lenny
was
completely
fed
up.
Have
you
tried
the
giant
pelican
floor
said
the
sloth.
A
She
showed
lenny
the
way
and
eventually,
a
little
time
later,
when
the
fight
we
arrived
lenny
leaned
over
the
plant
and
took
a
deep
whiff,
it
was
definitely
the
worst
thing
he
had
smelt
that
day,
but
the
giant
pelican
floor
was
not
the
whiff
he
could
sniff
purl
lenny's
sunshine
snooze
was
ruined.
The
other
animals
gathered
around
him.
What's
a
smell
like
aston
mild
feed,
maybe
we
can
help
said
the
stink
bird
well
said:
lenny
it's
musty
and
stuffy
and
a
little
bit
icky
and
it
seems
to
be
hanging
around
me.
A
A
So
it
is.
It
was
me
all
along
happy
that
he'd
find
the
source
of
the
nasty
death
at
last
lenny
set
off
for
his
sunny
summer
spot
with
a
spring
in
his
step.
Now
he
knew
it
was
his
own
riff.
He
could
sniff
he
didn't
mind.
The
nasty
knife
at
all
wait
call
the
stinkbird.
What
do
you
use
your
smell
for
watch?
This
said,
lanny
whoo
we're
off.
A
A
I
hope
you
enjoyed
that
little
book,
little
explorers
boy,
lenny
the
lemar
and
is
unusual
with
just
like
scampi.
The
skunk
lots
of
animals
can
have
unusual,
smells
to
help
for
different
reasons
to
help
protect
themselves
to
scent
mark
as
well.
And
although
we
can
be
scared
of
these
smells
or
scared
of
mice,
and
things
like
that,
it's
so
important
to
remember
that
every
animal
is
unique
and
just
like
every
one
of
us
is
unique
and
has
a
place
on
this
earth.
So
it's
so
important.
