C
C
This
nine-member
commission
serves
as
an
advisory
board
to
the
city
on
matters
concerning
art
and
public
spaces.
The
commission
is
responsible
for
promoting
public
art
in
the
city,
overseeing
the
city's
public
art
projects,
ensuring
the
art
displays
in
public
buildings
and
public
spaces
in
the
city
of
asheville
are
properly
maintained.
C
All
committee
members
and
staff
are
participating
virtually.
We
appreciate
your
patience
as
we
go
through
the
committee
meetings.
A
bit
differently.
We're
streaming
live
oops,
we
are
not.
We
are
streaming
live
on
youtube
tonight.
Due
to
a
technical
area
error.
We
are
not
able
to
access
public
input,
and
so
call-in
service
is
not
available.
This
evening
we
apologize,
but
the
video
will
be
posted
after
the
meeting.
D
D
C
To
help
our
audience
follow
along,
I
will
state
each
section
of
the
agenda
aloud
and
do
a
call
a
vocal
roll
call
vote.
Additionally,
I
will
ask
committee
members
to
raise
your
hand
to
speak.
We
already
covered
that
you
will
now.
We
will
now
move
on
to
administrative
items.
The
first
administrative
item
is
to
welcome
our
new
member.
C
Miss
shirley
widesides
shirley
served
on
pacs,
celebrating
african
americans
through
public
art
projects,
leadership
team.
She
also
served
on
the
vance
monument
task
force.
Shirley
is
a
retired
art
teacher
teaching
more
than
30
years
in
our
local
public
schools
and
is
the
founder
and
director
of
delta
house
life
development.
Welcome
shirley.
Is
there
anything
you'd
like
to
add
shirley,
I'm
excited
to
work.
C
Thanks
shirley
we're
happy
to
have
you
on
board.
Thank
you
just
a
reminder.
We
have
some
commission
member
seats
that
are
expiring
in
june,
so
constance
seat,
ali
seat
and
joanna's
seats
will
all
be
expiring,
ali
and
joanna.
You
are
eligible
for
a
second
term
and
of
course,
sadly
constance.
This
is
your
second
term,
so
you
will
be
rolling
off,
so
we
will
have
a
vacant
seat
in
june.
C
B
A
Chair
the
the
way
the
nomination
and
voting
process
can
go,
a
few
guys
are
amenable
to.
It
is
that
you
can
have
a
vote
as
early
as
next
month.
We
will
have
a
general
nomination
process.
You
can
send
me
any
nominations
you
have
for
the
positions
of
chair
and
vice
chair.
We
hold
the
election
and
in
an
open
and
transparent
manner.
A
So,
if
you
do
folks
feel
like
that
is
a
decent
process
and
you're
ready
to
to
work
on
that
next
month
have
a
month
to
nominate
getting
some
nods.
That's
fantastic!
So
please
just
remember
to
email
me
with
any
recommendations
and
as
a
reminder.
Right
now.
Currently
we
have
a
vacant
position
and
vice
chair
from
the
resignation
of
valeria
and
katie
cornell,
serving
as
your
chair.
C
E
C
Key
has
moved.
Do
I
have
a
second
constance
has
seconded
the
motion
has
been
moved
and
seconded.
I
will
now
conduct
a
roll
call
vote
committee.
Members.
When
I
say
your
name,
please
say
I
or
nay
shirley
what
sides.
D
E
E
F
C
C
In
may,
we
will
be
able
to
finally
accept
call-in
public
comments,
so
you'll
be
receiving
more
information
on
that
moving
forward.
We
have
received
one
public
comment
that
has
been
shared
with
all
of
the
committee
members,
so
the
the
public
comment
that
we
received
was
a
request,
two
percent
on
a
proposal
for
pac
plaza.
C
As
you
know,
lots
of
people
have
ideas
on
what
should
happen
with
pac
plaza
city
council
has
made
it
clear
that
there
will
be
a
visioning
process
this
summer
for
that.
So,
since
pac
does
not
know
what
the
guidelines
are
for
that
process
or
how
we
will
be
involved,
we
will
not
be
taking
any
requests
to
add
presentations
of
different
proposals
to
our
agenda
at
this
time.
C
All
right,
so
we
are
now
moving
on
to
new
business.
At
this
time,
I
would
like
to
invite
parks
and
rec
project
manager,
susanna
horton,
to
present
the
committee's
an
update
on
the
jake
rusher,
our
full
play
project.
F
Thanks
so
much
katie,
so
what
I'd
like
to
do
for
for
the
next
few
minutes
is
just
walk
you
all
through
our
process
and
then
introduce
you
to
our
finalist
and
let
me
share.
F
Okay,
here
we
are-
and
let
me
know
when
you
can
see
this-
does
everyone
see?
Okay,
thanks
al?
Yes,
thanks
katie,
so
just
quickly.
I
just
wanted
to
go
through
our
process
highlight
who
the
members
are
of
our
committee
are.
Let
me
find
this
and
then,
like
I
mentioned,
just
give
you
a
quick
intro
to
our
selected
finalists.
So
in
december
we
issued
our
call
for
artists
it
closed
in
mid-january,
and
we
had
a
good
response.
We
had
21
responses,
we
did
we
reviewed
for
appropriate
submission
requirements.
F
We
wanted
to
keep
it
a
regional
call.
So
not
all
21
respondents
were
regional,
a
few
late
late
respondents
and
you
know
some
not
appropriate
media
for
this
project.
So
after
we
we
reviewed
those
we
went
on
to
the
selection
committee,
so
the
full
selection
committee
is
ali.
Mcgee
representative
joanna
hagerty,
laura
dagnan
she's,
a
neighborhood
representative,
rebecca
cipriano,
is
a
landscape,
architect
and
project
manager
in
capital
projects.
She
actually
was
is
the
project
manager
for
the
jake
rusher
bond
project,
which
made
this
project
possible.
F
We
had
the
percent
for
art
and
then
myself,
I'm
landscape,
architect
and
project
manager
for
parks
and
recreation.
So
that
was
our
our
selection
committee
and
we
met
in
february
and
went
through
all
of
the
proposals
to
generate
a
short
list.
And
after
we
we
selected
those.
We
did
some
reference
checks
and
then
brought
in
two.
F
We
we
decided
to
bring
them
to
a
finalists
to
asheville,
so
they
did
a
site
visit
at
the
end
of
february
and
we
met
on
site
at
jake
rusher
park,
each
each
artist
and
then
you
know
they
went
back
and
we
had
a
virtual
interview.
Since
that's
the
picnic
shelters
were
were
open
at
that
time,
and
you
know
some
one
of
the
artists
wanted
to
show
a
presentation.
So
you
know
technologically
it
was.
F
It
was
a
little
challenging,
so
we
we
fell
back
to
the
virtual
interview,
and
so
just
earlier
this
week
we
met
again
to
review
the
finalists.
You
know
reviewed
that
the
results
of
the
interview
on
the
selection,
the
the
site
visit
and
we
had
asked
each
finalist
to
take
about
a
week
reflect
on
the
site.
I
know
from
from
my
past
and
in
private
practice.
You
know
you
finished
up
an
interview
and
and
you're
driving
back
and
you're
like
I
wish.
F
I
had
just
said
this,
so
we
you
know
we
we
gave
them
a
little
more
time
to
kind
of
digest
and
and
especially
after
seeing
the
site,
and
so
we
received
their
narratives
and
some
concept
sketches
and
have
decided
to
to
begin
negotiations
with
with
one
artist
and
as
steph
mentioned,
we'll
show
you
who
the
finalists
are
and
then
update
you
the
next
meeting.
F
So
next
steps
begin
negotiations
with
our
selection
and
then
and
may
hopefully
wrap
it
up
in
get
our
assigned
approved
agreement
and
then
commence
work.
So
moving
on
from
here,
our
first
finalist
is
becky
borland.
She
is
a
public
artist
from
baltimore
maryland.
F
She,
these
are
two
examples
of
her
her
public
projects
in
boston,
boston,
baltimore
maryland.
This
was
a
temporary.
These
both
were
temporary
installations.
This
one
the
prisms,
was
along
the
river
for
I
think
three
months.
This
was
for
an
art
festival.
One
thing
that
we
really
liked
about.
Becky
was
one
you
know
her
her
use
of
color
and
to
her
the
scale
and
what
she
thinks
she
loves
thinking
on
a
large
scale.
F
Our
second
artist
finalist
that
we
brought
in
is
karina
sephora
she's,
an
artist
from
atlanta
georgia.
She
got
her
bfa
from
mass
art
and
then
moved
to
atlanta
and
began
her
career
in
blacksmithing
and
sculpture.
So
one
thing
that
really
spoke
to
the
committee
about
karina
was
her
public
engagement
strategy.
F
She
loves
doing
community
workshops,
and
you
know
she
one
of
the
things
that
inspired
her
to
submit
for
this
call
was
the
idea
that
usually
with
public
sculptures
artists
are
thinking
about
ways
to
keep
the
public
from
climbing
on
their
sculptures,
but
she
really
loved
the
idea
of
like
how.
How
do
you
draw
the
public
onto
your
sculpture,
which
is
you
know?
Our
our
intent
is
a
high
level
of
interaction.
F
G
I
mean
susannah
is
one
of
the
most
thorough
people
ever
so
I
think
she
covered
it
really
well,
and
it
was
a
it
was
a
pleasure
to
be
a
part
of
this
process
and
see
how
much
susanna
and
rebecca
really
really
wanted
to
integrate
art
into
this
amazing
playground
space,
and
I
just
really
appreciated
her
approach.
I
mean
we
rubricked
multiple
times.
We've
really
really
taken
a
lot
of
time
to
make
sure
that
these
people
would
bring
something
really
special
to
our
town.
So.
B
Yeah
I'll
just
echo,
all
of
that
it
was.
It
was
really
fun
to
be
a
part
of
this
in
part
because
it
was
so
organized.
Everything
was
very
thorough.
Explanations
were
really
good
of
the
rubrics,
and
everything
like
that-
and
I
I
feel
like
I
felt
like
I
was
just
really
involved
from
start
to
finish
when
beginning
when
we
brought
on
and
when
we
were
brought
on,
and
I'm
I'm
very
excited
for
the
future
of
this
park.
Thanks
to
thanks
to
what
I've
learned.
G
G
Mention
really
quickly
that
we
are
potentially
inspired
to
put
some
of
this
work
in
blogs
and
on
paper
and
kind
of
get
it
out
there
too.
There's
so
much
richness
to
the
story
of
jake
rusher
and
this
process
and
helping
people
understand
why
we
choose
what
we
do
and
how
people
submit
to
so
there's
been
a
little
bit
of
talk
and
hopefully
ali,
and
I
will
keep
that
momentum
going.
C
Are
there
any
takeaways
you'd
like
to
share
about
the
process
of
you
know
how
artists
applied
and
were
selected
that
you
know,
you
think,
should
be
implemented
in
other
other
projects
moving
forward.
B
You
mean
for
the
pac
folks,
specifically
I'm
trying
to
think
so.
We
we
were
brought
on
with
with
kind
of
the
short
list
of
artists.
I
think
it
was,
and
I'm
not
sure
it's
been
a
while,
since
we've
done
anything
like
this,
so
we
may
do
this
too,
but
just
the
way
it
was
kind
of
rubricked
out
with
everybody.
B
You
know
adding
their
scores
and
their
notes
and
their
explanations,
and
so
that
made
meetings
really
efficient
and
effective
when
we
were
able
to
kind
of
breeze
through
those
rubrics
and
and
then
but
then
have
kind
of
a
discussion
that
built
on
those-
and
I
I
I
think
it
was
the
first
subcommittee
I
worked
on
and
the
first
time
I've
been
able
to
kind
of
have
a
have
a
part
in
that
and
that
kind
of
rubricked
out
process.
B
So
it
may
be
something
that
we're
already
doing,
but
it
was
it
just
worked
really
well
so.
G
I'm
sure
you
guys
would
have
liked
to
see
more
of
that
process,
but
I
think
from
the
individual
perspective,
the
committee
was
so
clear
and
we
always
were
really
aware
of
what
was
going
on
and
how
things
were
going
to
get
scheduled
and
being
involved,
and
all
of
that
makes
it
easier
for
us
to
do
our
job
as
pac
members
and
understand
that
everybody
really
cares
about
this
work.
A
lot
so.
C
So
our
next
item
on
our
agenda
is
to
talk
about
the
results
of
the
two
surveys
that
we've
completed
over
the
last
couple
months,
but
to
talk
about
priorities
for
pac
as
well
as
talk
about
the
urban
trail,
so
I'm
just
going
to
pull
this
up.
Oops.
C
C
Yeah
yeah,
okay,
so
I'm
going
to
breeze
through
this
pretty
quickly
because
it's
pretty
long
and
there's
some
key
areas
where
we
want
to
spend
more
time
than
others.
But
you
know
it
was
very
clear
what
was
important
to
pac
members
was
the
investment
in
our
community
that
public
art
brings?
You
know
creating
a
healthy,
thriving
community
really
showing
our
community
values.
C
Also,
of
course
everybody
on
pac
thinks
that
we
really
need
a
public
art
program,
but
I
thought
you
all
had
some
some
really
strong
reasons
which
I
appreciated,
and
this
this
presentation
is
available
for
people
as
in
it's
a
link
in
our
agenda.
So
I'm
not
going
to
spend
a
lot
of
time
on
the
individual
responses,
so
you're
welcome
to
look
through
it
on
your
own.
C
C
So
the
the
meat
of
this
past
survey
was
prioritizing
our
goals,
so
everybody
rated
the
priorities
that
we
had
set
in
2020
and
these
are
our
average
scores.
C
As
you
see,
maintenance
for
the
urban
trail
fell
very
low
on
the
list,
and
so
that
is
why
there
was
a
follow-up
survey
assessment
just
to
see
how
you
guys
really
were
feeling.
Of
course
you
know
a
new
master
plan.
It
has
been
at
the
top
of
our
list
for
several
years
now,
but
there
that's
quite
a
process
and
a
lot
of
these
other
things
kind
of
fall
into
that
process
as
well.
C
You'll
see
that
the
celebrating
african-americans
through
public
art
project
was
high
on
the
list.
Doing
you
know
the
next
piece
what's
next
for
that
we
have
the
rad
tip
projects
that
we're
going
to
need
to
be
doing
this
year,
as
well
figuring
out
how
place
partners
works
again
that
kind
of
folds
into
the
master
plan.
C
And
then
you
know
our
you
know
our
ordinances
are
overdue
for
being
updated
and
that's
part
of
the
master
plan
process
too.
I
think
it's
re-evaluating
pac
in
general,.
C
So
this
was
current
council's
current
strategies,
so
livable
communities
equity
was
on
the
list
several
times
and
so
is
livable
communities.
C
Things
that
we
thought
about
dropping
the
the
ones
that
were
listed
were
these
ordinances,
public
art
policy,
the
master
plan
and
the
thinking
behind
that
is,
you
know.
Are
we
putting
the
cart
before
the
horse?
Do
we
have
other
work
that
we
need
to
do
first,
which
is
valid,
and
we
can
talk
about
that.
C
C
Again,
the
urban
trail
fell
high
on
the
list
and,
and
the
master
plan
was
also
on
the
list.
C
C
So
we
also
have
some
some
other
new
additional
priorities.
You
know
supporting
diverse
groups
connecting
better.
You
know.
We've
had
some
some
issues
with
calls
for
artists
and
getting
you
know,
good
submissions,
and
there
was
a
push
for
more
interactive.
You
know
our
public
art
inventory
could
be
better
displayed,
so
people
understand,
what's
what's
actually
in
the
inventory,
so
lots
of
good
thoughts
about
this,
an
equity
assessment
of
the
current
public
art
inventory.
We
have
a
little
over
50
pieces.
C
I
believe-
and
just
a
note
on
this
I
actually
am
working
with
buncombe
county
special
collections,
we're
hoping
to
get
an
intern
this
summer
to
do
an
equity
assessment
and
cataloging
of
the
inventory,
as
well
as
digitally
scan
some
of
the
archives
for
public
art.
So
we'll
talk
more
about
that.
C
So
you
know,
of
course,
we
have
really
been
hindered
by
the
fact
that
we
have
not
been
able
to
meet
monthly
for
a
long
time
now.
Hopefully
we're
back
on
track
and
we'll
be
able
to
meet
now,
but
this
definitely
not
been
ideal
and
has
really
delayed
a
lot
of
our
our
plans.
C
So
I'm
looking
forward
to
getting
back
normally,
you
know,
as
joanna
said,
she
would
like
to
have
been
able
to
share
more
during
the
process
with
jake
rusher
park,
and
normally
there
would
be
updates
at
our
monthly
meeting
and
so
getting
back
to
having
working
subcommittees
that
are
reporting
out
on
a
monthly
basis
to
pack
it's
vital
as
we
move
forward
with
our
work
and
of
course
we
have
to
figure
out
what
what
is
the
next
step
for
the
master
plan.
C
C
Good,
so
some
ideas
for
collaboration
again,
you
know
the
tree:
commission,
greenway,
commission,
lots
of
opportunities
for
greenways
african
american
heritage,
commission,
affordable
housing,
downtown
commission,
lots
of
different
ideas,
and
I
think
they're
good
ideas,
as
well
as
communicating
or
partnering
with
members
of
city,
council
and
other
counties
and
other
organizations
within
the.
C
C
C
Things
we
could
do
to
educate
the
community
about
public
art,
improving
our
outreach-
and
you
know
again,
this
interactive
database
came
up
really
having
a
presence
for
our
public
art
pieces
online.
I
really
appreciated
the
example.
If
you
go
back
in
the
presentation,
one
of
the
examples
was
a
a
project.
I
can't
remember
where
it
was
from
now,
but
they
had
a
really
impressive,
really
interesting,
interactive
database
of
their
public
art
throughout
their
whole
area.
C
C
Least,
favorite
things
feeling
like
there's
no
central
theme
to
the
stories
that
has
been
that
are
being
told
that
it
might
be
outdated
and
not
tell
a
completely
inclusive
story.
C
And
then
you
know
making
sure
people
know
about
it.
A
lot
of
people
are
not
connected
with
the
urban
trail
so
because
this
rated
so
low
on
the
priority
survey,
I
wanted
to
know
how
you
guys
felt
about
the
maintenance
plan
for
the
urban
trail.
We
got
seven
responses
to
the
survey
57
of
percent
of
you
said
that
you
wanted
to
continue
with
the
maintenance
plan
that
we
have
in
place
and
43
said.
C
Maybe
nobody
said
no,
so
we'll
have
to
discuss
that
because
it
did
rain
so
low
in
our
priorities
and
we
we
kind
of
have
a
big
year
ahead
of
us
and
so
we're
going
to
have
to
think
strategically
about
what
we
can
do.
C
So,
though,
we've
individually
ranked
things,
I
think
we're
going
to
have
to
re-rank
things
as
a
group,
I
appreciated
you
know
the
fact
that
we
probably
need
to
rethink
maintenance
in
general
like
just
because
something
has
wear
and
tear.
C
C
So
that's
all
I'll
say
about
that
for
right
now,
a
couple
of
goals.
You
know,
of
course,
restoration
bringing
in
more
locals
making
sure
I
love
this
sexify
it
making
it
more
appealing,
bringing
a
new
generation
there's
a
feeling
that
it
may
be
dated
how
how
do
we
connect
it
with
the
next
generation?
How
do
we
tell
more
stories.
C
C
So
you
know,
as
we
talk
about
adding
new
pieces
of
public
art,
I
think
we
really
need
to
address
how
we
maintain
the
ones
we
already
have:
integration
into
community
and
tourism
upkeep
marketing.
Of
course,
diversity.
C
So
some
strategic,
creating
connections,
strategic
pieces
in
to
the
current
urban
trails,
so
strategic
pieces
in,
like
avl
today
or
with
influencers
about
pieces
on
the
urban
trail
materials
like
a
new
map,
a
digital,
interactive
map
on
with
the
one
on
the
explore
asheville
sites
that
maybe
could
have
some
improvements
activities
around
that
adapting
it
into
tours.
That
are
being
done.
C
And
adding
some
new
markers,
you
know
the
the
urban
trail
committee
kind
of
views.
The
current
members
of
the
urban
trail
subcommittee
kind
of
view
it
as
a
done
deal
and
it's
30
projects
and
then
and
that's
it,
but
there's
been
some
talk
about.
Is
it
done?
Have
we
told
all
the
stories
you
know?
Do
we
need
to
think
about
evolving
some
of
the
pieces
or
creating
some
new
pieces?
C
About
so
we
are
in
discussions
of
a
speaker
series,
and
I
thought
you
guys
had
some
really
good
suggestions
and
so
I'll
keep
you
updated
on
how
that
goes.
And,
of
course,
if
you'd
like
to
be
part
of
that
discussion,
please
let
me
know
I'd
be
happy
to
add
you
to
the
planning
team,
and
so
this
is
the
last
slide
I'll
share
and
then
we'll
get
on
with
our
discussion
just
how
this
could
be
a
driver
for
the
master
plan.
H
Yeah,
I'd
just
like
to
observe
that
my
time
on
public
art
and
cultural
commission,
it
seems
that
damage,
vandalism
and
maintenance
issues
crop
up
on
the
urban
trail
faster
than
progress
is
made
on
all
these
things.
So
it
feels
like
sand
into
the
ocean
in
a
way,
and
I
also
feel
that
the
commission
itself
has
spent
plenty
of
time
on
on
the
topic
and
the.
So
I
don't
think
that
it's
for
lack
of
our
attention
or
intention.
H
It
seems
to
be
a
low
priority
for
the
parks
and
rec
department
and
I'm
not
really
sure
how
to
to
I'm
not
really
sure
what
to
do
about
that.
So
that
that
is
my
observation
that
you
know
a
lot
of
our
a
lot
of
our
work
and
intention
here.
As
I've
seen,
it
has
not
really
not
really
been
actualized
by
the
people
with
the
tools
and
shovels
and
the
funding
in
their
hands.
H
So
that
that's
a,
I
think,
that's
a
major
stumbling
point
to
making
progress
with
a
a
project
that
you
know
has
a
lot
of
worthy.
A
A
You
don't
have
to
apologize.
I
I
agree
with
you
and
I
think
it
would
be
helpful
for
you
all
to
know
that
there's
a
there's
an
allocation
of
40
000
a
year
for
public
art
maintenance
and
that
the
urban
trail
itself
has
a
250
thousand
dollar
backlog
maintenance
right
now,
so
we've
had
to
save
over
two
years
of
public
art
funds
in
order
just
to
do
what
we're
doing
right
now,
which
is
replacing
the
art
deco
masterpiece
s
w
mural.
H
I
well
I
I'll
clarify
in
saying
that
I
you
have
a
lot
of
stuff
on
your
plate,
and
this
is,
I
know
that
you're
under
resourced,
for
something
that
you
know
does
that
is
that
is
in
the
center
of
our
attention,
and
I
hope
that
the
resources
are
attached
to
you
so
that
you
can,
that
you
can,
you
know,
carry
through
because
I
know
I
know
you're.
I
know
you
wanting
to
try,
but
you
know
we.
E
Yeah,
I
would
just
add,
too,
that
I
think
it's
going
to
be
important
to
look
at
this
holistically.
I
think,
if
you
just
ask
the
question:
do
we
want
to
be
able
to
support
the
urban
trail?
Everybody
would
be
behind
it,
but
based
on
our
constraints
of
how
much
money
do
we
have
and
what
else
could
we
spend
it
on?
C
Well,
as
I
think
the
committee
has
said
in
the
past,
like
we
shouldn't
be
adding
new
pieces
to
the
collection,
unless
we
can
maintain
the
ones
that
we
already
have
and
we
do
need
to
add
new
pieces
there,
you
know
the
that's
the
way
that
the
present
for
the
arts
policy
is
structured
right
now
we
don't
really
have
a
choice,
but
we
also
have
a
responsibility
to
maintain
these
pieces,
and
so
you
know
that's
one
thing
that
we
really
need
to
address
with
a
new
master
plan
is:
how
are
we
going
to
maintain
that
public
heart
pieces
with
the
funding
attached
to
it.
E
C
And
I
do
think
we
need
to
look
at
other
models
in
in
other
cities,
because
there
is
a
growing
trend
towards
public-private
partnerships
around
the
funding
of
public
art,
and
we
might
need
to
set
up
some
kind
of
structure
to
allow
that
to
happen
in
the
city
as
well.
D
If
I
might
add,
I
have
to
keep
reminding
myself
that
there's
the
urban
trail,
but
then
there's
all
the
other
public
art
and
it's
all
it's
not
all
under
one
umbrella
I
mean
the
urban
trail
is
under
the
umbrella
of
public
art
and
just
to
the
point
of
of
concluding
it,
I
mean
just
to
get
on
the
committee
and
just
to
get
the
cat
replaced.
D
I
mean
that's
been
months
and
months
before
you
know
the
city
and
the
community
and
the
foundry
and
just
corralling
them
in
the
foundry
and
all
it's
just
been
a
real
round
robin
it's
happening
and
it's
exciting.
But
boy
has
it
taken
a
lot
longer
than
I
ever
thought.
It
would,
and
I
think
that
longer
than
what,
if
you
were
just
as
a
private
individual
working,
you
know
a
family
or
culture
or
whatever.
B
Can
I
say
I
love
some
of
the
ideas
around
like
bringing
in
other
groups,
or
you
know
the
library
series
like
as
a
way
to
you,
know
instead
of
adding
new
pieces,
let's
add
in
some
new
voices,
but
not
through
necessarily
like
a
new
sculpture
like
let's,
let's
contextualize
these
or
let's
get
some
interesting
dialogue
going
around
them
or
something
and
involve
the
community
more,
which
seems
like
another
big
goal,
so
that
might
be
kind
of
two
two
birds,
one
stone
or
something.
C
Yeah,
I'm
I'm
super
excited
about
digitizing
the
collections
that
they
have
a
lot
of
it's
the
urban
trail,
but
it's
not
all
just
the
urban
trail
and
so
being
able
to
find
some
way
to
share
that
as
well.
There's
a
lot
of
unknown
stories,
hidden
histories
that
I
think
people
would
really
enjoy
knowing
around
our
public
art
collection.
C
Okay,
there's
no
more
discussion,
I'm
going
to
move
on
good,
okay,
so
updates
so
steph,
who
is
the
public
art
program
manager
and
pac
staff
liaison,
is
now
going
to
give
the
commission
updates
on
several
of
our
current
public
art
projects.
A
Thank
you
katie
I
so
I
did
request
an
update
on
art
in
transit
and
my
understand
I
didn't
get.
I
did
not
get
an
update,
so
I
will
send
you
guys
what
I
hear
from
staff
and
mostly
what
I
ask
is:
is
everything
going
okay
installation
went
well?
A
Are
there
any
reactions
to
the
work
which,
I
think
is
probably
what
most
people
are
interested
in
is
how
is
the
public
receiving
it
for
the
city
hall
elevator
projects
they
have
been
shooting
they've
completed,
shooting
b-roll
of
the
elevators
and
the
motor
room
equipment
now
they're
moving
into
shooting
video
for
interviews,
they'll
move
into
post-production
towards
a
first
draft
edit
after
that,
and
just
as
a
reminder
that
is
the
piece
the
component
that
is
associated
with
the
city
hall,
elevator
replacement
project
and
manny
figuero
is
working
as
a
videographer
with
that
group.
A
Oh,
this
one's
a
big
one,
so
we're
going
to
go
into
river
arts
district
transportation
improvement
project
celebration,
so
we've
worked
with
a
community
really
over
for
over
a
decade.
As
you
know,
many
of
you
been
involved
in
certain
ways:
either
you
know
with
the
city
or
with
riverlink
or
doing
arts
with
the
river
arts
district
and
we've
implemented,
the
will
mcduckman
riverway
master
plan
with
several
different
projects
and
the
signature
project.
The
rad
tip
is
closing
out
and
we
still
have
money
to
complete
the
public
art
component.
A
So
that's
been
on
pause
since
last
year
and
it
was
at
our
last
december
meeting
that
you
all
approved
the
thematic
concepts
for
the
next
three
projects.
So
what
I
wanted
to
share
with
you?
Well,
I
probably
want
to
share
a
few
things,
is
that
you
know
next
week
on
friday
at
noon,
we're
having
an
online
via
remo,
which
is
what
leadership
asheville
uses
for
their
buzz
breakfast
celebration.
A
It's
a
get-together,
we'll
have
the
mayor
and
other
folks
from
the
community
providing
testimonials
jim
stokely
is
going
to
talk
a
bit
about
who
wilma
dykman
was
and
what
he
thinks
about
the
and
what
jim
and
thinks
that
his
mom
may
have
thought
about
the
project.
A
So
I
think,
if
you
have
time,
come
and
participate
for
that
for
sure,
and
there
are
probably
over
right
now
20
different
events,
some
on
special
days,
some
ongoing
that
are
happening
throughout
the
districts,
cool
things
like
free
mini
art,
galleries,
that
ratta
is
putting
on
there's
four
that
will
be
on
the
greenway
and
a
couple
in
the
art
district
proper
across
the
tracks
and
people
they'll
be
replenished
every
friday.
A
A
A
So
that's
a
really,
I
think,
a
good
tool
for
us
to
all
like.
I
want
your
feedback,
but
for
all
of
us
to
talk
about
moving
forward,
he's
a
very
easy
vendor
and
company
to
work
with.
So
as
we
need
to
be
flexible,
I
know
that
in
the
coming
years
he
can
flex
with
us.
We
can
grow
that
contract
or
what
have
you
I
wanted
to?
Let
you
know
about
that
on
may
20th
is
the
101st
anniversary
of
wilma
dykman's
birthday.
A
So
on
that
date,
which
is
actually
the
date
of
your
next
regularly
scheduled
pac
meeting
from
four
to
six
p.m,
there's
going
to
be
a
party
and
so
we'll
be
having
a
variety
of
activities
take
place.
One
of
those
things
is
going
to
be
that
if
you
wear
a
shade
of
purple,
hopefully
deep
purple,
which
was
her
favorite
color,
and
I
think
we
should
all
get
somebody
to
come
play
smoke
on
the
water
andrew.
A
We
are
going
to
give
out
free
cupcakes,
and
I
said
if
you,
if
you
have
purple
hair
we're
gonna,
give
you
two
free
cupcakes.
So
what
I'd
like
to
invite
you
to
think
about
is
you
know
is
that
we
could
potentially
reschedule
your
meeting
and
you
all
could
potentially
attend.
We
could
use
that
time
as
well
to
possibly
go
to
the
three
locations
for
the
next
river
arts,
district,
public
art
projects
and
look
at
those
as
a
team.
A
If
we
do
this,
I
would
be
inviting
a
member
of
the
media
so
that
the
meeting
could
be
transparent.
It
would
not
be
a
regular
meeting
because
we
are
not
going
to
discuss
or
deliberate
any
business.
So
while
we
would
go
to
these
sites,
the
point
is
that
you
need
to
make
sure
that
the
public
has
the
opportunity
to
win
anything
that
you're
thinking
about
that
looks
like
a
decision.
A
That's
what
deliberation
means,
but
we
can
visit
the
sites
and
then
the
goal
would
be
to
be
informed
and
then
you
can
also
help
with
the
party
festivities
if
you
like.
So
I
you
do
not
have
to
answer
that
now,
but
I
would
say
that
if
you
want
to
contact
katie
and
and
say
yes
or
no,
that
sounds
terrible
and
I'm
and
I
totally
appreciate
that
we
are
still
in
a
pandemic
and
we
call
it
the
long
tail
of
the
pandemic,
and
so
you
may
not
be
interested
in
being
around
other
people.
A
If
we
do
go
out,
we
will
all
wear
masks
and
we
will
all
use
covet
safety
guidelines.
A
So
that
is
my
the
rad
tip
public
art
update.
I
think
that
you
know
just
to
kind
of
put
the
the
pin
on
the
tail
there
is
that,
once
this
rod
tip
grand
opening,
which
is,
has
been
quite
the
organizational
feat
for
the
entire
community
once
that
is
done,
we
can
get
back
to
work
down
there,
which
will
be
really
exciting
and
the
all
feet
stand
under
the
stars
piece
by
dwayne
barton.
A
A
So
right
now
the
city
is
working
with
the
contractors
that
were
selected.
There
were
two
one
to
actually
remove
and
demolish
the
monument,
the
second
one
to
do,
and
what
we're
calling
an
interim
landscaping
plan
in
the
900
square
foot
area.
That's
marked
by
a
fence
right
now
that
would
bring
around
that
monument,
so
they
are
coordinating
what
that
schedule
might
look
like.
I
know
that
you
know.
A
As
you
know,
city
council
did
vote
to
approve
those
recommendations
of
the
vance
monument
task
force
that
ms
whitesides
served
on,
and
that
means
that,
and-
and
you
probably
also
saw
I'm
sorry.
F
A
Sidebar
here
you
probably
also
saw
that
the
the
city
was
successful
in
a
lawsuit
that
came
earlier,
a
challenge
to
the
abilities
being
able
to
remove
this,
and
so
I
expect
that
we
are
going
to
see
a
schedule
for
the
removal
in
the
coming
weeks,
maybe
within
the
next
30
days,
but
other
than
that.
I
don't
know
when
that
would
happen.
A
The
next
steps
would
be
to
work
with
different
focus
groups
in
the
community
to
talk
about
what
the
hiring
of
a
qualified
group
of
facilitators,
community,
engagers
or
an
urban
design
and
planning
team
looks
like
so
we
don't
want
to
just
go
out
to
community.
A
Once
we
have
someone
on
board,
we
actually
want
to
talk
to
community
and
get
a
better
understanding
of
what
they're.
Looking
for
as
teammates
on
the
front
end,
then
we
will
release
a
request
for
qualifications
and
proposals
that,
and
it
probably
just
be
a
request
for
proposals
honestly
and
for
a
team
that
can
help
us
all
work
through
a
larger
process
of
considering
how
that
space
should
be
performed
and
what
the
usage
should
be.
A
What
our
experiences
should
be
once
that
monument
comes
down,
we
are
not
aiming
to
have
at
the
end
of
that
process,
a
design
for
what
should
happen
next.
What
we
are
aiming
to
have
is
a
vision
document
that
allows
us
to
go
out
for
a
next
step,
which
would
be
to
design
a
future
plaza
area
that
aligns
with
the
the
community's
interests.
A
A
I
know
andrew's
having
trouble
with
connections
and
I
just
didn't
want.
Oh
and
ally,
your
your
hand
is
up,
but
I
don't
know
if
that's
an
old
hand
raised
it.
C
So
I
really
encourage
you
guys
to
watch
the
videos
of
that
series.
We
had
four
really
great
presentations
over
the
last
couple
of
months
and
I
think
it's
really
helpful
to
see
those
discussions
as
we
move
into
the
public
art
master
plan
process,
but
yeah.
If
you
want
to
look
at
the
visuals
for
pac
plaza
in
particular
from
this
latest
video.
I
think
that
would
be
helpful
for
you
all.
A
C
I
think
that's
good,
so
steph
just
for
everybody's
clarification.
The
date
of
the
event
that
would
cause
us
to
propose
postpone
our
meeting
is
what
again
the
20th
may
20th.
A
Are
we
gonna
need
to
meet
the
following
week?
Perhaps
okay.
C
C
Okay
sounds
good.
That
will
be
our
plan
and
just
a
reminder
to
send
your
nominations
to
steph
for
the
chair
position
and
the
vice
chair
position.
We
will
address
that
at
our
next
meeting.
If
there's
not
any
further
comments,
I'll
go
ahead
and
adjourn,
anybody
else
have
anything
you
want
to
share
okay.
I
will
now
adjourn
the
meeting
unless
any
objections
so
so
adjourned
live
streaming,
can
turn
off.
