Description
Barb Mee, Transportation Planner with the City's Transportation Department, discusses the Livingston Street Project, design plans, and citizen participation at a recent public meeting.
A
When,
when
you're
riding
a
bike
on
it,
livingston
street
is
kind
of
an
interesting
street
because
it
serves
two
purposes:
it's
a
neighborhood
street.
It's
clearly
a
neighborhood
street
people
live
along
the
street,
but
it
also
connects
there's
the
eddington
center.
There's
the
dr.
Wesley
grant
senior
South
Side
Center,
you
might
be
working
at
the
hospital.
If
you
live
in
the
neighborhood
or
if
you're
coming
through
that's
a
place,
you
could
be
going
abtech.
A
You
know
it's
a
great
connection
to
education,
but
that
means
that
when
you
have
people
who
are
local
on
a
street
and
people
who
are
using
it
as
a
connector,
you
need
to
work
really
hard
to
get
the
design
right
and
to
get
the
environment
right
so
that
one
use
doesn't
rule
out
the
other.
We
had
really
good
participation
at
the
public
meeting
this
week
and
I
was
so
grateful
that
people
were
willing
to
come
and
spend
time
with
us
and
help
us
get
this
design
right.
The
design
that
is
proposed
is
really
exciting.
A
We
included
two
mini
roundabouts
roundabout
at
the
intersection
with
depot
street
and
another
roundabout
at
the
intersection
with
south
french
broad
they're,
smaller
than
the
ones
you've
seen
here
so
far,
so
that
they'll
fit
into
the
livingston
street
profile.
Some
of
the
other
things
we're
doing
with
the
roadways
we're
adding
a
bicycle:
climbing
Lane,
climbing
up
the
hill
there's
a
real
difference
in
this
P
of
a
car.
A
In
a
bicycle,
we
are
able
to
get
a
climbing
bicycle
lanes
so
that
by
cyclists
have
their
own
space
and
drivers
have
their
own
space
and
there's
not
that
conflict
going
up
the
hill.
One
of
the
things
that
I
find
most
exciting
is
that
we
are
going
to
be
able
to
complete
the
sidewalk
links
on
both
sides
of
livingston
street
so
that
you
can
walk
all
the
way
from
where
we're
starting
on
Depot
Street
up
to
victoria
road
without
having
to
cross
the
street
to
find
the
sidewalk.
A
That
makes
it
so
much
easier
if
you're
walking.
It
makes
it
easier
if
you're
taking
the
bus
to
one
of
the
things
that
we
really
appreciate
is
that
people
are
willing
to
come
out
and
talk
to
us
spend
part
of
their
time
their
evening
with
us,
and
it's
really
important
to
do,
and
we
really
appreciate
it.
One
of
the
ways
with
this
meeting
that
we
tried
to
kind
of
give
you
more
for
your
investment
was
that
we
also
had
Lucy
crown
there
she's
our
green
waste
planner
in
the
Transportation
Department
and
Lucy.
A
To
remember
the
history
of
the
area
and
we
also
had
Roderick
Simmons
our
Parks
and
Recreation
Director
there
and
he
was
signing
people
up
to
help
with
the
process
for
planning
for
Walton
Street
Park,
so
I'm
very
grateful
that
Lucy
and
Roderick
were
there
with
us
and
that
people
were
willing
to
come
out
and
be
at
the
meeting
and
share
with
all
three
of
us.
I
encourage
you
to
go
to
our
project
page
on
the
city
website.
A
If
you're
looking
for
more
information,
livingston
street
is
in
the
central
area,
when
you
go
looking
through
the
project
pages,
and
we
will
have
information
on
this
meeting
and
about
the
project
in
general.
You'll
find
my
contact
the
information
there
and
please
give
me
a
call
or
drop
me.
An
email,
I'd
love
to
hear
from
you
and
that's
what's
been
going
on
with
the
Livingston
Complete
Streets
project.
Thank
you
for
listening.
