From YouTube: Richmond Hill Park – Virtual Grand Opening
Description
Christine Elyseev, Outdoor Program Coordinator for the City of Asheville Parks and Recreation Department, shares the new improvements at Richmond Hill Park.
A
My
name
is
christine
ellisay,
I'm
the
outdoor
program
coordinator
with
asheville
parks
and
recreation
and
we're
out
here
at
richmond
hill
park.
We
want
to
welcome
all
the
members
of
our
community
to
all
the
new
amenities
that
we
have
part
of
the
amenities
that
we
were
able
to
add
are
a
brand
new
water
fountain,
including
doggy
bowls
for
all
those
folks
who
take
their
furry
pals
out
on
the
trails
here
at
the
park.
A
A
We
have
some
new
trail
access
points
to
take
you
out
to
our
multi-use,
hiking
and
biking
trails
in
the
parking
lot
out
here
at
the
park,
we've
installed
a
brand
new
lighting
system
that
is
on
anytime
from
dusk,
until
dawn
to
enhance
visitor
safety.
We're
also
really
happy
we've
partnered,
with
some
of
our
community
organizations
in
town,
pisgah
area
sorba
and
the
western
north
carolina
disc
golf
association
to
do
some
projects
out
here
at
the
park.
B
I'm
ross
long,
I'm
the
president
of
the
western
north
carolina
disc,
golf
association,
disc
golf
is
very
similar
to
traditional
golf
and
that
you're
trying
to
go
from
tea
to
the
basket
and
as
few
strokes
as
possible.
It's
an
extremely
popular
sport
and
lots
of
fun.
Some
of
the
features
that
make
richmond
hill
a
popular
destination
course
for
disc
golf
are
the
hilly
terrain
as
well
as
the
woods
throwing
disc
off
through
the
wooded
course
here.
It
creates
a
challenge
as
well
as
a
lot
of
fun.
B
Some
of
the
improvements
to
the
course
that
have
happened
through
the
western
north
carolina
disc
golf
association,
partnership
with
the
parks
and
rec
department
have
been
some
new
baskets
there's.
Also
some
new
signage
that's
being
put
into
place.
That
will
show
the
whole
number
and
the
distance
to
the
basket
and
we've
got
one
concrete
t-pad
on
the
first
hole.
Richmond
hill
is
an
excellent
place
for
anyone
to
come
and
try
their
hand
at
disc
golf.
You
get
a
wonderful
workout.
A
A
C
I'm
craig
rulin,
the
elected
volunteer
president
of
pisgah
area
sorba.
We
are
a
mountain
bike
advocacy
group
located
here
in
asheville
north
carolina
on
the
skill
park
here
at
richmond
hill
there's,
two
stacked
loops,
one
being
green,
which
is
really
the
most
beginner
entry
level
trail
and
then
there's
a
blue
loop,
which
is
more
advanced,
there's
about
seven
features
per
loop,
so
there's
about
14
or
15
total.
C
Really
the
biggest
difference
between
each
of
the
lines
is
the
size
and
scale
we
like
to
have
affiliated
organizations
that
help
us
with
some
of
the
trail
maintenance
work
on
the
skill
park.
We
have
both
the
french
broad
academy
and
the
pisgah
rage
nika
team.
Regarding
the
design
for
the
skill
park.
We
wanted
to
have
certain
elements,
elevated
pieces,
rock
drop,
offs,
step,
ups
with
rocks
and
boulders,
and
then
there's
kind
of
accepted
spacing
between
the
elements.
So
it's
not
just
element
element
skill
element,
so
you
can
do
an
element.
C
You
can
kind
of
collect
yourself
ride
for
a
little
bit
and
then
do
another
element
and
every
feature
has
a
ride
around.
So
if
you
don't
feel
comfortable
and
you're,
not
quite
ready
to
like
make
the
leap
and
go
over
a
certain
element,
then
you
just
ride
around
and
join
your
friends
back
on
the
main
trail
this
park,
just
like
the
disc
golf,
it's
completely
free
and
open
to
the
public
same
with
the
skill
park
like
we
wanted
to
create
something
to
build
people's
skill,
but
still
have
it.
C
You
know
totally
free
and
open
to
the
public.
So
I
think
in
terms
of
access-
and
you
know,
ride
ability
from
the
neighborhood.
I
think
it
really
kind
of
helps
open
this
window
of
mountain
biking,
to
people
that
may
not
be
able
to
access
it.
Otherwise,
it's
very
inclusive
and
that's
something.
We're
proud
of.
A
We'd
like
to
thank
all
the
taxpayers
and
the
city
of
asheville
for
the
contribution
of
the
bond
money
that
helped
support
this
project
in
2016..
The
parks
and
recreation
bonds
were
the
most
popular
of
the
bond
project
referendums
and
they
received
the
most
support
from
the
community.
We
couldn't
have
possibly
done
this
project
without
your
support.
A
We
would
like
to
invite
you
to
come
out
to
richmond
hill
park
and
check
out
all
of
the
brand
new
features
come
out
out
and
have
a
picnic
under
the
shelter
check
out
the
bike
trails,
bring
your
dog
out
and
walk
on
some
of
the
hiking
trails
or
come
out
for
a
round
of
disc
golf.
There's
lots
of
different
ways
for
you
and
your
family
to
have
fun
and
we'd
love
to
see
you
out
at
richmond
hill
park
this
summer.
