Description
Backdrop Weekly 11/28
A
People
are
going
to
watch
this
later,
but
for
now
it's
just
the
three
of
us
really
quickly
want
to
kind
of
go
over
backdrops
bowls
and
we'll
probably
do.
This
was
for
the
first
few
meetings
just
to
make
sure
that
everybody
who
is
interested
in
participating
kind
of
understands.
Why
we're
working
on
backdrop
and
not
Drupal
8.
A
Basically,
it's
just
that
we
we
want
to
create
a
product
that
has
the
same
set
of
features
as
your
polite,
but
on
an
architecture
that
looks
and
feels
more
like
drupal
7,
so
we're
still
going
to
be
using
hooks
instead
of
turning
everything
into
a
brand
new
Spanky
symphony,
option,
Torian
related
kind
of
system,
we're
going
to
try
and
simplify
existing
systems
that
were
already
around
Drupal
7
when
we
thought
they
were
too
complicated,
fix
current
bugs
and
add
a
minimal
set
of
new
features,
but
those
last
three
things:
simplifying
the
existing
system,
fixing
bugs
and
adding
new
features
will
only
happen
when
it
doesn't
require
very
much
change
to
the
API.
A
In
order
to
do
so.
So
the
big
picture
is
that
there's
a
cost
that
comes
with
change,
and
we
want
to
keep
in
mind
that
there's
a
bunch
of
people
that
already
know
and
love
Drupal.
The
way
it
is,
and
so
we're
going
to
create
a
system
that
is
modeled
off
of
Drupal,
subtle
and
hopefully
not
very
differences.
Upgrade
path
will
be
easy
in
the
module.
Porting
process
should
also
be
fairly
straightforward.
A
Our
timeline
we're
gonna,
shoot
to
release
backdrop.
One
point:
oh
just
before
Drupal
8
is
released
or
as
soon
as
our
major
set
of
issues
are
resolved.
The
major
set
of
issues
currently
include
back
porting,
all
of
the
features
from
Drupal
8
that
are
relevant
to
backdrop.
So
that
means
looking
at
the
list
of
all
the
commits
that
are
made
to
Drupal
8
deciding
of
those
commits
which
ones
are
fit
our
model
and
important,
or
doing
comparable
things
to
go
out.
A
Of
course,
people
that
designate
that
out
to
anyone
who
wants
to
work
on
our
project
with
us
another
one
of
the
major
projects
that
we
need
to
get
done
before
you
can
releases
the
addition
of
cmi
or
the
config
management
initiative,
as
it
was
known
in
dribbly.
We
need
a
permanent
lead
for
this
project,
but
as
of
last
week,
we
picked
it
up
because
he
thought
it
was
going
to
be
super
important
for
backdrop
and
started
working
on
getting
the
engine
I'm
going
for
for
backdrop.
B
B
Right
we've
got
an
existing
procedural
based
version
of
of
CM
I
that
was
almost
ready
to
be
merged
into
to
dribble
aid.
At
the
time
that
we
forked
backdrop-
and
at
this
point
now,
I
was
looking
at
it
whether
or
not
we
could
use
that
code
or
rather
not.
We
need
to
backport
most
of
Drupal
8
and
I
did
kind
of
a
combination
of
both.
B
I
started
with
the
existing
branch
that
we
had
previously,
but
then
I,
pretty
much
back
for
did
everything
for
Batum
out
of
triple
8
back
into,
in
the
backdrop
with
a
couple
of
differences,
there's
no
services
layer
in
backdrop,
so
there's
no
abstraction
around.
You
know
injecting
very
services
to
actually
make
it
so
that
you
could
swap
out
like
different.
B
Right
now,
it's
there's
only
one
file
storage
system
and
its
story
to
JSON
right
now,
and
it
seems
to
be
working
really
pretty
well.
I
back
poured
all
the
wise
as
well,
so
that
the
bulk
exporter
and
the
bulk
importer
and
the
single
exporter
are
all
working
right
now,
as
well
as
the
synchronization
interface.
B
The
only
thing
that's
not
working
at
this
point
is
the
single
configuration
importer,
but
other
than
that,
like
the
the
major
pieces
of
it
are
all
in
place
already,
which,
which
is
great
it
didn't
didn't,
seem
like
it
was
that
much
effort
to
back
for
it.
After
all,
let's
see
there
was
a
couple
other
exceptions
and
things
that
I
didn't
back
part
I
didn't
backport
this
concept
of
configuration
context,
which
was
introduced
only
recently
into
Drupal
8.
That
has
to
do
with
their
ability
to
do
translations
of
configuration
files.
B
I
think
at
this
point,
I'm
saving
that
for
for
a
later
enhanced
and
like
I,
think
that
it's
still
possible
for
us
to
do,
but
it's
really
its
secondary
to
the
main
objective
here
of
just
getting
see
my
files
all
all
configured
in
working.
So
right
now
for
the
initial
starter,
it's
same
as
Greg
Dunlap's
original
branch
that
it
converts
image
styles
and
the
variables
page
44,
setting
up
performance
so
really
small
amount
of
configuration
actually
that's
been
saved
into
the
system,
but
I
think
we're
pretty
close
to
getting.
A
The
next
item
on
our
list
is
getting
views
in
core.
Last
week
after
our
meeting
Matt
2000
volunteered
to
take
a
stab
at
it,
I
know
he's
been
working
on
it
because
he's
been
active
in
several
issue
kiss,
but
he's
not
here
today
to
us
an
update.
A
So
we
will
follow
up
with
him
and
try
and
post
them
either
in
this
agenda
or
next
week's
agenda
and
hopefully
help
you
able
to
give
us
an
update
next
week
on
how
that's
going
blocks
and
layouts
initiative
this
again,
something
that
didn't
get
done
for
Drupal
8,
but
we
think
it
would
be
killer.
If
we
could
add
this
feature
into
backdrop,
Nate
would
like
to
be
the
lead
on
getting
blocks
and
layouts
done
in
backdrop
that,
since
he's
currently
busy
with
cmi
and
other
considered
more
important
he's
not
working
on
it.
A
So
if
we
had
someone
else
who
wanted
to
volunteer
to
think
about
how
this
should
be
tackled
in
backdrop,
we
could
definitely
use
some
help
there.
There
and
no
practice
has
happened.
Obviously
on
this
since
last
week.
The
last
item
on
my
list
here
is
the
in
system
cleaner
and
that's
something
I've
volunteered
to
take
the
lead
on
I.
Don't
have
any
update
since
last
week,
but
the
game
plan
is
generally
based
on
the
cleanup
that
we
did
in
the
Drupal
8
twig
initiative.
A
Again,
not
complacent
template
files
with
twig
template
files,
but
all
the
other
clean
up
in
terms
of
consolidation
in
simplification
of
the
in
system
in
general
and
we'll
all
I'll
continue
to
work
on
the
meta
issue.
That's
associated
with
that
I've
got
a
couple
of
spreadsheets
that
need
to
go
through
and
then
update
that
issue.
A
So
we'll
get
that
some
too,
and
we
were
planning
on
doing
a
sprint
every
Thursday
immediately
after
this
meeting,
so
that
we
go
get
to
work
on
these
major
issues
as
well
as
anything
else
that
we
want
to
get
done
for
backdrop.
But
since
this
week
is
Thursday,
and
since
this
week
is
Thanksgiving
at
least
here
in
the
US
Nate
and
I
will
not
be
sprinting.
We've
got
family
obligations
to
attend
to
and
I
expect
that
others
or
probably
in
the
same
situation
but
Victor
I,
know
you're.
C
A
A
But
we
need
to
kind
of
do
some
content
strategy
as
well
and
figure
out
what
our
message
should
be,
what
our
branding
should
be
the
kinds
of
things
that
we
need
to
say
and
kind
of
get
a
good
plan
going
for
that,
so
I
know
we
had
a
couple
months
ago,
Mike
McCaffrey
offered
to
help
work
on
that.
We
should
probably
reach
out
to
him
again
and
see
if
he
wants
to
help
with
that.
A
Once
we
get
all
of
that
stuff
going,
we
can
then
go
to
Darius
and
get
a
design
underway,
but
we
will
still
need
volunteers
to
help
us
actually
build
out
the
site.
Both
in
terms
of
you
know,
drupal,
standard
site,
building
skills
and
putting
you
know,
code
together
who
need
custom
code
and
and
building
out
the
theme
once
we
get
the
design
done.
A
So
if
anyone
has
any
skills
in
those
areas
and
wants
to
help
us
with
a
backdrop
CMS
website,
we
could
definitely
use
help
in
that
area
as
well,
so
reach
out
to
us
either
an
IRC
or
after
this
meeting
you
watch
this
video
and
let
us
know
that
you
can
honking
will
definitely
put
you
to
work.
We
also
need
to
work
on
our
API
site.
Api
that
backdrop
CMS
org,
and
we
can
probably
use
doctrine
just
as
a
Drupal
contribs
and
just
start
posting
parsing
error
code
basic
getting
that
up
and
there's
some
other
stuff.
A
A
So
if
anyone
watching
this
video
wants
to
work
on
the
API
site,
it
definitely
need
help
in
that
area
also
and
then
last
week
we
mentioned
that
our
IndieGoGo
campaign
had
ended
and
we
were
going
to
come
up
with
another
idea
for
accepting
donations
for
backdrops
I've
had
a
couple
of
people
who
have
been
interested
in
giving
I
think
we're
going
to
set
up
a
paypal
donation
form
I,
don't
know
how
to
put
it
I
guess
you
should
put
it
on
our
backdrop:
CMS
org
manifesto
page,
to
replace
the
IndieGoGo
campaign,
so
we
can
do
that
fairly
soon.
B
E
B
C
B
B
A
B
A
I
can
grind
up,
did
that
at
that
age
for
a
session
fairly,
quick
and
then
I
guess
victory
the
only
other
one
here,
but
we
do
tend
to
open
the
floor
and
the
meeting
to
anyone
who
is
here
see
if
there's
anything
else
that
either
we
should
add
to
this
weekly
agenda.
So
we
talk
about
every
week
or
anything
that
you
want
to
race
right
now,
I
just
for
anyone
who
may
be
watching
the
video
who
has
assumed
questions
or
answers
and
then
we'll
probably
rappelled
early
today,
just
because
of
the
holiday.
C
No
I
just
would
like
to
become
involved,
so
I
could
either
work
on
the
sea,
mi,
parte,
I'm
or
on
the
route.
What
I
call
the
routing?
What
you
guys
are
calling
the
layout
I
I
very
much
like
the
philosophy
that
was
very
clearly
specified
as
we
about
putting
the
responsibility
for
regions
and
other
iterations.
They
are
taking
that
away
from
the
individual
theme
and
bulleted
pulling
it
into
a
page
manager.
Kind
of
thing,
I've
worked
quite
a
bit
with
panels
and
I
could
work
on
that.
It
just
depends
what
you
guys
need
help
on.
C
B
I
think,
overall,
the
see
my
stuff
like
a
we've,
got
a
pretty
good
start
setting
up
the
base
system,
but
we're
going
to
do
an
enormous
amount
of
work.
Converting
all
of
the
existing
things
like
most
specifically
entities
know
types
views
when
when
we
get
to
that
I'm
not
really
sure
where
or
how
much
2000
plans
to
to
initially
tackle
that.
But
we
basically
just
have
a
huge
number
of
conversions,
so
I
think.
C
A
lot
so
I
I
find
it
interesting,
so,
okay,
great
I'll,
just
dive
into
that
and
we'll
see
how
that
comes
along
and
anything
else,
I'm
interested
in
I'll
just
stick
into
the
master
feature
is
empty.
The
github
feature
request
page,
I
did
have
a
question
about
static-
was
a
lot
being
written
about.
Oh,
why
use
drupal,
you
static
site
generation,
and
you
know
if
backdrop
included
the
static,
sighs
generating
tool
and
that
was
sort
of
built
into
it.
C
C
A
A
C
Sure
an
idea,
but
am
I
likely
I
just
want
to
say
real
quickly
that
working
with
many
of
my
clients,
I'm
running
into
the
difficulty
of
you
know
what
should
I
do
with
my
old
rupal
site
and
that's
why
I'm
so
interested
in
backdrop,
because
it
really
allows
me
to
give
a
perspective
for
change
our
future
upgrading
on
an
easy
path
out
for
small
medium
businesses
and
for
NGOs
and
I
really
support
this
whole
idea
and
I'm
quite
confident
that
the
something
great
is
going
to
come
up
back
and
it's
really
going
to
help
a
lot
of
people
and
I've
I've
been
hearing
all
of
this
as
pain
points
more
and
more,
even
though,
initially,
when
the
backdrop
a
project
began,
I
I
said
it
was
a
romantic
reaction
in
the
sense
that
you
know
like
a
lot
I
thing
like
I
got,
you
know,
let's,
let's
simplify
this,
keep
it
simple,
but
really
it's
it's.
C
It's
a
pain
point
where
organizations
that
cannot
hire
rocket
scientists
and
do
not
have
an
overly
Obamacare
enterprise
approach
to
huge
scaling.
Questions
need
an
option
and,
and
they
need
a
simple
option,
and
you
know
I
really
feel
that
that
this
will
really
feel
that
bill.
So
and
that's
why
I'm
excited
to
be
involved
in
this
project
looks.
A
C
A
Okay,
so
I
think
I
think
we
can
probably
grab
the
meeting
now
we've
had.
I
don't
know
a
little
bit
of
progress
since
last
week,
which
I
think
is
fairly
good.
We'll
probably
have
some
more
and
actually
when
people
are
back
from
vacation
and
will
be
able
to
kind
of
kick
things
up
with
them,
get
rolling
out
a
lot
of
other
stuff
as
well,
so
Victor.
Thank
you
for
joining
us.
Anyone
who's
watching.
A
Thank
you
for
watching
and
we'll
see
you
in
IRC.
Our
IRC
channel
is
found
backdrop,
so
anyone
who
wants
to
join
the
narrow
definitely
can
and
all
of
our
work
is
happening
on
github,
so
feel
free
to
watch
the
project
or
yeah
I
got
hope
just
jump
in
and
whatever
you
want
to
work
on.
There
is
perfectly
fine.
So
thanks
for
coming
and
we'll
talk
to
you
again
next
week,
yeah.
