From YouTube: GM Electric Motor Plant
Description
Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz joined Governor Martin O'Malley and U.S. Department of Energy Secretary Steven Chu to break ground for a new electric motor plant at GM Baltimore Operations.
A
B
I'm
here
with
county
executive
cabinets,
because
this
is
such
an
important
win
for
the
people
of
Baltimore
County
for
all
of
the
workers
here
at
GM,
they're
building
the
next
generation
of
electric
drive
car
and
it's
happening
right
here-
would
not
be
happening.
Were
it
not
for
the
county
executives
leadership
in
making
sure
that,
even
in
these
tough
budgetary
times,
we
follow
through
on
the
initiative
that
we
made
here
to
create
the
new
jobs
of
the
future.
So
County
Executive
Kamenetz,
the
state
of
maryland,
working
together
with
GM
and
president
obama.
A
C
We're
really
proud
to
have
these
jobs
here
in
Baltimore
County
and
have
our
workers
employed
and
putting
together
hybrid,
big
motors
and
electric
motors
that
are
manufactured
for
the
entire
country
right
here
in
Baltimore
County,
and
it's
a
great
example
of
Governor
O'malley's
green
initiatives
that
are
taking
place
throughout
the
state.
We're
really
proud
of
the
solar
panels
that
are
being
produced
here.
One
hundred
percent
of
the
product
here
is
recycled,
it's
landfill
free
and
you
know
what
what
a
great
advancement
for
not
only
our
county,
but
our
country
and.
D
Absolutely
great
day,
because
going
through
the
last
couple
years
at
GM
and
was
really
tough,
and
this
really
shows
that
GM's
investing
here
in
maryland
in
baltimore
county
for
the
future
and
we're
actually
on
the
cutting
edge.
It's
not
some
product
that
might
have
a
life
of
a
couple
years.
This
is
really
we
have
a
chance
to
build
a
really
bright
future
here
and
be
the
best
at
making
motors
making
hybrids,
and
that's
what
we
intend
to
do.
Thank.
