Baltimore County's Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, set for Thursday, November 29 , was held at the new park on the corner of Allegheny Avenue and the traffic circle in downtown Towson. The tree was lit at approximately 6:30 p.m.
"We'll be celebrating the beginning of the holiday season in the heart of the downtown Towson shopping district to remind people of the benefits of shopping in Baltimore County's historic neighborhood commercial districts for the holidays," said Baltimore County Executive Jim Smith.

Want to wish everybody a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, it's really great to have this new location for our tree. As you know, we've had it moved around in the last couple of years, and I really really have to say. This is probably the best location that we've had in many many years. It's really great. It's really really right in the business district and it's in our new park come this.

Gentlemen, merry Christmas to everybody from the circuit court for Baltimore County and I'm judge stringer from the circuit court. I grew up a mile from here and it's great to see all these Towson residents here. It's still a great place to grow up very good.

Hey thank you, judge, stringer, to come into your neighborhood traditional downtown's. Get that personalized service get their special gifts, get those unique restaurants and eateries that are located in your in your neighborhood downtown's and we've made it especially easy to enjoy and to take advantage of that with the Baltimore County revenue authorities. Free parking at our meters and at are metered lots and at the library garage here in towson from december 16th to December 25th, so you can come and shop shop, dine dine and really have a wonderful, wonderful time.

We've added a really nice component, because you know everybody's going to enjoy the holiday season everybody's going to be giving gifts and getting gifts. But you know there's some families where, without your support they wouldn't get gifts. The children wouldn't really experience the season. The way we want them to not only will the children and last year was 9,000. Children got the benefit of the toy drive.

Not only will those children really experience the season, let me tell you, you also have an enhancement of the warmth of your own holiday season by the circumstance of your giving. So so really consider the toy drive. It goes on well beyond tonight. We're going to do a countdown now: okay, ready, fine.
