From YouTube: Baltimore County Agricultural Center
Description
(Hunt Valley, MD) - Baltimore County's vibrant agricultural industry was front and center this morning as Baltimore County Executive Jim Smith and Lieutenant Governor Anthony Brown joined some 150 farmers, officials and land preservation supporters in celebrating the official opening of the Baltimore County Center for Maryland Agriculture.
The new center is a core initiative of the Smith administration that will help preserve and foster growth in the County's important agricultural sector. It will serve as an educational resource center for farmers and the public and offer recreational opportunities while conserving valuable open space.
A
We're
here
today
at
the
grand
opening
of
the
Baltimore
County
Center
for
Maryland
agriculture,
Kenny,
executive,
Jim,
Smith,
lieutenant
governor
Anthony,
Brown
and
councilman
Kevin
cabinets
mr.
County
Executive.
This
is
a
big
day
for
your
administration.
Can
you
speak
to
the
importance
of
this
facility?
Well,.
B
This
facility
is,
it
is
unique,
I
hope
it
serves
as
a
model
for
for
others
throughout
the
state,
but
this
is
going
to
bring
together
a
federal
state
and
local
agencies
that
deal
with
agriculture
all
in
one
place.
It's
also
going
to
provide
the
opportunity
to
bring
in
volunteer
organizations
that
are
involved
in
agriculture
and
and
to
have
offices
here.
This
is
going
to
be
a
research
and
education
site,
a
resource
for
agriculture,
which
is
a
300
million
dollar
industry
in
Baltimore
County.
Thank.
A
C
And
first
I
like
to
commend
Jim
Smith,
the
county
executive
here
in
Baltimore
for
just
a
tremendous
job
that
he's
done
over
the
years
in
preserving
agriculture,
promoting
agriculture,
open
space,
finding
that
balance
between
the
agricultural
community,
the
environmental
community,
the
governor
and
I
really
recognize
and
cherish
the
harwich
in
the
tradition
of
agriculture
and
marilyn.
Is
the
county
executive
mentioned?
It's
also
big
business?
C
It's
the
largest
single
employment
sector
in
the
state,
so
the
governor
and
I
were
enthusiastic
about
the
state
being
able
to
partner
with
the
county
and
the
federal
government
to
invest
funds
in
the
agricultural
center.
That
will
serve
not
only
Baltimore
County,
but
we
really
hope
all
of
Maryland
in
promoting
agriculture
to
educate
young
people.
Seniors
will
happen
to
opportunity
to
come
here
and
and
and
participate
so
we're
excited
about.
It,
promotes
agriculture
in
Baltimore
County
and
for
all
of
Maryland.
Thank.
A
D
Know
it's
actually
fitting.
They
were
here
at
the
equinox
of
summer
and
fall
literally
as
we
speak
today,
and
that
reminds
us
of
the
hard
work
of
summer
that
leads
into
the
bountiful
harvests
of
fall
and
it's
almost
a
marriage
of
different
communities
in
the
county.
We
have
a
very
modern,
vibrant
County
that
meets
here
with
our
great
tradition
in
Baltimore
County
of
agriculture
and
farming.
