From YouTube: Baltimore County Sportsplex Opening
Description
Baltimore County Executive Jim Smith officially opened the Reisterstown Sportsplex, a facility that houses the County's first and only indoor public ice arena and separate artificial turf field for field sports. County Councilmen T. Bryan McIntire, Kenneth Oliver, and Kevin Kamenetz, the Baltimore County Revenue Authority Board of Directors, and personnel from the Baltimore County Department of Recreation and Parks are assisted with the ribbon cutting.
A
A
Three
of
those
grandchildren
I
want
you
to
know
what
we
got
him
for:
Christmas
they're
their
local
summer,
out-of-state,
three
of
them
that
are
local
and
you
magic
ice
skates.
Yes,
they
got
ice
skate
to
the
Christmas.
What
the
community
dreamt
of
is
what
you
see
that
that's
what
the
county
implemented
their
vision.
A
They
also
had
a
vision,
long
range,
because
this
was
about
eight
years
ago
when
they
were
planning
this.
This
project
is
reisterstown
regional
park.
They
had
the
long
term
vision
of
an
indoor
facility
so
that
really
what
we're
doing
today
is
really
realizing
a
long-term
vision
of
this
community
for
use
of
this
park.
It
preceded
the
Smith
administration
was
a
vision
that
were
the
community
came
together
and
planned,
and
a
lot
of
the
community
participated.
A
So
we
really
did
think
it
was
something
that
would
be
exciting
to
the
community
and
I
can
tell
you
from
the
response
already.
I
think
this
opened
about
a
week
ago
and
they're
already
lining
up.
I
was
here
earlier
today
and
that
there
were
homeschooled
children,
we're
using
the
ice
rink
for
their
physique
component
of
their
education.
So
I
mean
it
really
is
a.
It
has
really
filled
a
niche
that
is
clearly
something
that
it
is
going
to
be
used
in
a
big
way.
A
The
other
thing
that
facilities
like
this
do
is
they're
not
just
athletic
outlet
for
kids.
They
bring
people
together.
They
become
mecca's
for
that.
For
the
neighborhood's
they
become
places
where
families
come
and
share
time
with
one
another,
as
well
as
sharing
time
with
their
neighbors
as
well
as
meeting
new
people,
and
that's
really
how
you
build
community.
A
You
build
the
spirit
of
the
community.
That
way-
and
you
know
I
talk
about
Renaissance
and
people
say
why
do
you
call
it
Renaissance?
Why
don't
you
call
it
revitalization?
Well,
revitalization
is
work
in
my
judgment,
sidewalks
curbs
and
gutters
bricks
and
mortar
and
that's
important,
but
Renaissance
is
more
than
that.
A
In
addition
to
all
the
sports
events
that
will
be
held
here,
then
you
have,
this
will
be
year-round
for
soccer
lacrosse
field
hockey,
their
ice
rink
will
be
year-round
and
it
will
be
high
schools
that
will
be
adult
leagues.
It'll
also
be
free
skate
for
those
who
were
more
depth
and
opens
open
skating
for
those
who
were
just
loved
to
try
to
do
it,
and
it's
going
to
be
a
real
draw
for
people
on
or
be
a
draw
all
year
around.
