From YouTube: Red Run Trail
Description
County Executive Jim Smith and Councilman Kenneth N. Oliver break ground for the new Red Run Biking and hiking path in Owings Mills. This path will connect the community to nature and to local businesses. It's a long awaited treasure that is putting land to a smart use.

A
The
county
has
been
acquiring,
as
Pat
said,
parcels
of
land
along
the
red
run,
string
valley,
as
development
has
occurred,
and
today
we
own
more
than
250
acres,
and
we
anticipate
acquiring
another
hundred
acres
over
the
next
few
years.
Acquiring
this
land
has
made
today's
trail
groundbreaking
possible.
This
almost
one
mile
path
will
be
wheelchair,
accessible
and
use
the
existing
old
da
field.
Road
road
bed
I
think
we're
going
to
pave
over
it,
but
we're
going
to
use
this
area
using
this
road
bed
as
it
runs
through
this
beautiful,
wonderful
wooded
area.
A
There's
a
three
tenths
of
a
mile
segment
has
already
been
constructed
west
of
pleasant
hill
road
and
once
the
extension
20
field
boulevard
is
complete.
The
existing
portion
of
the
trio
will
be
connected
to
the
trail.
We're
breaking
ground
on
today,
convert
and
converting
the
one-lane
bridge
between
them
to
exclusive
use
for
pedestrians
and
cyclists.
This
red
run
stream
valley
trail.
Is
that
I
think
an
outstanding
addition
to
our
town
center
community
that
will
provide
appropriate
access
to
Owings
Mills,
beautiful
nach
environment.
A
We
are
all
are
also
already
moving
ahead
with
a
feasibility
study
exploring
other
recreational
opportunities
that
could
be
provided
along
the
trail
like
little
areas
where
you
might
picnic
or
little
areas
where
you
might
have
a
little
small
musical.
You
know
a
little
little
little
band
where
you
could
sit
around
have
a
mini
concert.
Those
kinds
of
things
that
could
occur
along
the
along
the.
B
Path
on
I
want
to
thank
Pat
Kelly,
with
his
leadership
were
being
the
director
of
planning
for
Baltimore,
County
and
Jim
gave
you
a
childhood
shot
of
him
growing
up
in
owings
mills.
I'm
going
to
quickly
give
you
not
my
childhood
shot,
but
being
on
the
planning
board
prior
to
being
elected
to
this
office.
