Description
Baltimore County Executive Jim Smith joined Baltimore County school leaders and County officials to tour the new classroom addition at Kenwood High School which opened to students this year. The new addition houses technology education at the school. This addition adds approximately 43,000 sq. ft. to the school and increases the overall tech wing capacity to 553 seats, which increases the total state rated capacity of Kenwood by 404 seats.
A
Now
this
is
a
great
day
to
be
here
to
see
all
the
progress
that's
been
made.
You
know,
Ballmer
kadia
is
going
through
the
Renaissance,
older
neighborhoods,
traditional
business
districts,
they're
all
coming
back
and
there's
a
great
spirit
of
optimism
throughout
the
county,
but
the
reason
we
call
it
Renaissance
and
not
revitalization-
is
it's
not
just
sidewalks
curbs
and
gutters
bricks
and
mortar.
A
It's
the
spirit
of
the
community,
it's
opportunity
in
the
neighborhoods
and
the
heart
of
the
neighborhood.
It's
the
heart
of
that
opportunity
is
schools
and
Kenwood
has
been
living
up
to
being
the
heart
of
the
Essex
Community
since
I've
been
1932
in
about
nineteen
fifty-five
in
this
facility
and
the
43,000
square
foot
addition
to
this
school
is
going
to
provide
for
technology
classrooms.
The
future
is
now
I,
think
18
standard
classroom
to
satellite
cafeteria
and
404
additional
seats
to
address
the
overcrowding
and
Ken
what
at
Eastern
Baltimore
County.
A
So
this
is
a
big
deal,
but
the
biggest
deal
of
it
is
it's
going
to
allow
walmart
and
the
teachers
and
the
staff
to
continue
to
do
that.
Leadership;
education,
that
is
Kenwood's
tradition
with
the
technology,
curriculum
and
advances
that
are
going
to
be
possible
now
through
this
additional
facility,
as.
B
C
Is
the
beauty
of
the
new
buildings
of
the
21st
century,
smaller
partners,
little
darker,
wider,
Carter's,
much
brighter,
brings
in
a
whole
new
warmth.
The
whole
new
atmosphere,
for
you
know,
sets
a
whole
new
tone
for
learning
and
with
high
schools.
You
not
only
need
to
look
at
enrollment,
but
you
got
to
look
at
programs.
A
On
the
outside
of
the
circle
has
their
assignments
correct.
They
know
what
student
there
was.
So
this
is
a
great
thing.
Oh
I,
thank
you
and
everybody
on
your
team
for
your
leadership
here
and
that
we're
just
really
happy
the
government
board
and
superintendent
do
and
the
students
are
continuing
that
route
tradition.
