From YouTube: No Senior Eats Alone Day, Thursday, September 23, 2021
Description
Due to an abundance of caution related to COVID, the Eating Together meals in Baltimore County’s 20 senior centers are cancelled. We encourage individuals to reach out in their community to support older adults.

We
begin
today's
show,
with
a
special
county-wide
event,
to
support
living
connected
here.
To
start,
our
show
and
share
information
about
no
senior
eats
alone
day
is
laura
riley,
director
of
the
baltimore
county
department
of
aging,
laura
welcome
to
the
show.
A
B
This
year,
it
really
came
out
of
our
staff
really
sitting
down
and
evaluating
the
impact
that
isolation
has
on
individuals
and
sharing
a
meal
is
just
one
of
those
ways
to
make
sure
that
we
bring
people
together
to
improve
their
mental
health.
B
Their
cognitive
status,
having
a
healthy
meal
with
someone
else,
decreases
our
blood
pressure
and
our
cross
cholesterol,
and
just
that
feeling
of
loneliness
that
we
can
hopefully
overcome
by
having
a
meal
with
someone
else.
We
all
know
that
when
you're
you're
preparing
a
meal
for
yourself,
you
may
not
put
the
time
and
energy
into
putting
together
a
healthy,
nutritious
meal.
Sometimes
you
may
even
skip
a
meal
so
that
emphasis
on
eating
with
someone
else
is
really
critical
to
us.
B
So
all
20
of
our
senior
centers
are
going
to
be
participating
as
well
with
the
not
just
the
meal,
but
educational
seminars,
some
entertainment
really
making
it
a
lively
event
for
the
day.
So
we're
built
hoping
to
build
the
impact
of
the
day
in
our
third
year
to
outreach
to
our
clients,
long-term
care
facilities.
We're
really
trying
to
expand
each
year
to
include
more
and
more
older
adults
in
our
community.
B
Well,
the
simplest
way
is
to
identify
an
older
adult
and
share
a
meal
with
them.
Go
to
their
house,
bring
them
to
your
house,
go
to
a
restaurant
with
one
of
our
partners
or,
if
you're
part
of
an
organization
provide
a
space
so
that
seniors
can
come
together
with
others
and
have
a
meal
in
your
organization
that
could
be
a
community
center
places
of
worship.
B
Anyone
really
can
host
a
special
meal
and
then
help
us
to
promote
our
special
event
to
all
of
your
friends
and
your
organizations
or
as
an
individual
sign
up
at
a
local
senior
center
or
one
of
our
senior
housing
facilities.
That
will
be
offering
a
meal
invite
older
adults
to
join
you
and
and
just
come
together
and
be
part
of
the
day
with
us.
A
B
B
B
And
we
can
talk
about
all
of
the
marketing
benefits,
for
that
once
a
restaurant
or
a
food
carryout
is
registered
with
us,
then
they'll
be
also
on
our
website.
So
just
remember
that
you
can
go
to
the
site-
that's
listed
here
on
the
screen
and
call
our
offices
and
we'll
get
you
there.
So
we
can
all
be
part
of
this
restaurant
owners,
consumers.
B
A
B
A
We're
going

but
