Successful
Economic
Development
takes
a
village,
and
time
and
time
again,
the
efforts
of
our
elected
officials
have
helped
us
be
successful
on
behalf
of
everyone
at
Bay
future.
We
need
to
know
how
much
we
appreciate
your
leadership,
Your,
Vision,
support
and
partnership.
Thank
you.
Thank
you.
Thank
you.
A
A
A
A
Bay
future
is
so
fortunate
to
have
a
dynamic
board
filled
with
caring
and
thoughtful
individuals
who
strengthen
our
organization
and
our
community,
both
through
their
solo
efforts
and
by
working
as
a
team.
Thank
you
for
your
time,
your
leadership
and
thank
you
for
your
support
and
for
your
commitment
to
the
growth
of
this
community.
A
A
Of
course
is
president
and
CEO
of
the
Bay
Area
Chamber
of
Commerce,
and
she
served
in
2022
as
chairwoman
of
the
bay
future
board
of
directors
under
Megan's
leadership
and
working
in
collaboration
with
The
Talented
Bay
future
team.
Our
organization
showed
its
ability
in
2022
to
be
nimble
and
to
respond
to
immediate
needs
in
our
community
through
Megan's
efforts.
Bay
future
continued
to
drive
forward
with
new
Investments
new
Partnerships
and
new
opportunities
and
I
would
be
remiss
if
I
didn't
mention
Megan's
greatest
accomplishment.
In
2022.
A
she
got
the
president
of
the
United
States
to
grab
her
cell
phone
and
take
a
selfie
with
her.
That's
right,
Megan
got
her
photo
taken
by
President
Joe
Biden.
No
one
else
could
have
pulled
something
like
that
off.
If
you're
at
events
with
Megan,
she
is
the
master
of
getting
her
picture
taken
with
people
in
all
seriousness.
Megan.
Thank
you
for
your
leadership
and
friendship,
not
only
in
2022,
but
for
nearly
two
decades.
We
are
so
fortunate
to
work
alongside
you
every
day.
Thank
you.
Thank
you.
A
E
G
H
Oh
there
we
are
okay
well
good
afternoon,
everyone.
It
is
a
true
pleasure
to
be
here
for
those
of
you
who
don't
know.
I
worked
for
Bay
future
for
nearly
a
decade
and
had
the
pleasure
of
hiring
Trevor
as
an
economic
development
specialist
way
back
when
so,
it
is
truly
an
honor
and
a
privilege
to
serve
on
the
board
of
directors
for
the
bay
future
and
serve
as
the
chairwoman
in
2022..
H
The
organization
has
had
tremendous
accomplishments
this
past
year,
including
141
Grant
awards
that
equaled
one
million
dollars
of
small
business
support
through
the
Bay
County
small
business
grant
program.
We
also
continue
to
celebrate
the
huge
success
of
SK
siltron
CSS,
complete
with
a
visit
from
President
Joe
Biden,
which
you
did
see
previously.
H
It
was
a
great
event
with
so
many
wonderful
individuals
there
celebrating
the
work
of
so
many.
The
impactful
work
that
bay
future
does
is
on
Full
display.
In
the
pages
of
this
year's
annual
report
and
in
the
presentation
today,
we
all
need
to
support
Bay
future
to
ensure
that
we
are
moving
forward
together
as
a
community
to
increase
the
tax
base,
to
secure
good
paying
jobs
and
to
improve
the
economic
climate
for
our
future.
H
Thank
you
to
the
investors
and
our
Board
of
Directors
for
your
support
and
leadership.
As
we
continue
to
drive
Bay
County
forward,
it
is
truly
going
to
take
all
of
us
to
continue
this
now.
Please
turn
your
attention
to
the
screen
and
we'll
have
the
opportunity
to
watch
the
highlights
from
2022..
Thank
you
to
Enbridge
for
their
sponsorship
of
the
video
that
you'll
see
today.
Thank
you.
I
I
Think
one
of
the
things
that
we
really
need
to
talk
about
is
not
just
those
that
are
punching
the
clock
here
every
day
at
Bay
future,
but
are
those
investors
that
we
have
as
well
as
our
board
of
directors
and
how
absolutely
critical
their
efforts
are
in
allowing
us
the
opportunity
to
go
out
and
to
do
this.
This
kind
of
impactful
work
that
our
staff
and
our
team
here
at
Bay
future
gets
to
do
every
day
is
absolutely
not
possible
without
the
investment
of
those
investors
in
our
organization.
I
B
F
I
We've
been
in
a
wonderful
position
to
be
able
to
offer
the
help
of
our
partners.
Grant
programs
that
have
helped
small
businesses
continue
to
operate
through
covid
and
then
post
covet
as
well.
We
really
crafted
a
proposal
that
was
going
to
be
able
to
fill.
You
know
three
kind
of
big
buckets
that
we
were
seeing
that
were
short-term,
medium-term
and
long-term
effects
of
what
covid
had
wrought
to
our
community.
First
one
was
taking
a
look
at
the
immediate
need
in
the
small
business
grant
program.
I
The
second
one
was
being
able
to
help
those
small
businesses
through
the
small
business
consultant
program
and
then
the
third
one
was
this
long-term
effect
of
covid,
something
that
covid
had
exacerbated
in
our
community,
this
access
to
talent
and
Workforce,
and
how
critical
it
was
going
to
be
for
our
community
that
we
really
focus
on
being
able
to
bring
and
retain
talented
and
skilled
people.
You
know
to
our
community.
I
We've
been
able
to
produce
and
offer
16
different
Grant
programs,
financial
support
programs
to
the
tune
of
about
four
million
dollars,
and
we've
done
Awards
of
more
than
650.
So
it's
a
heck
of
a
lot
of
small
businesses
that
have
been
able
to
take
advantage
of
those
programs
and
there's
a
heck
of
a
lot
of
partners
that
have
worked
hand
in
hand
with
us
that
have
made
those
programs
available
and
made
those
opportunities
available
for
small
businesses.
K
I
L
I
November
we
had
the
distinct
honor
and
pleasure
of
welcoming
the
president
of
the
United
States
President
Joe
Biden
and
Governor
Gretchen
Whitmer
and
Congressman
kildee
as
well
to
really
talk
about
the
investment,
and
it
just
really
continues
to
put
a
bright
shining
light
on
this
investment
and
this
project
project
that
we
worked
so
diligently
together
with
our
partners
in
securing
for
our
community.
We
have
two
years
left
of
our
five-year
strategic,
Action,
Plan
and
there's
five
pillars
to
that
plan
and
we'll
continue
to
do
those.
I
Obviously
we're
not
going
to
stop
on
our
business
retention
efforts.
We're
not
going
to
stop
on
driving
forward
our
business
expansion
and
attraction
efforts,
but
one
of
the
things
that's
going
to
be
critically
important.
We
think
in
the
next
two
years
is
really
going
to
be
looking
at
that
inventory
of
sites
and
buildings,
as
companies
are
coming
out
of
covid,
as
companies
are
coming
out
of
economic
factors,
you
know
that
have
maybe
slowed
down
operations
or
slowed
down
their
future
expansion
opportunities.
I
We
really
need
to
make
sure
that,
as
a
community,
we're
selling
from
a
cart
that
is
plentiful
and
full
all
the
things
that
a
business
is
going
to
need
to
be
successful
in
our
community.
We're
going
to
be
working
really
diligently
with
our
public
and
private
sector
partners
and
making
those
things
happen
in
the
next
two
years,
in
the
hope
that
we
can
attract
the
next
SK
ciltron
CSS,
the
next
Wilkinson
minerals
and
the
next
fill
in
the
blank.
L
Afternoon
and
I
also
want
to
welcome
you
to
the
Bay
future
annual
meeting
I'm
Kristen
Wenzel
interim
CEO,
with
Great
Lakes,
Bay,
Michigan
Works,
and
also
obey
future
board
member.
It's
my
honor
to
recognize
those
companies
that
have
invested
in
Bay
County
in
2022
through
their
business
growth
projects.
We
appreciate
their
capital
investment,
their
dedication
to
our
community
and
the
impact
they've
had
on
creating
new
jobs
to
increase
the
opportunities
for
individuals
and
families
in
our
community.
L
Please
note:
these
companies
are
listed
in
the
2022
Bay
future
annual
report.
That
is
at
your
place,
setting
a
huge
thank
you
to
the
team
at
McLaren
Bay
Region,
for
their
support,
as
our
annual
report,
design
and
printing
sponsor
an
ATS
printing
for
their
sponsorship
of
the
awards.
As
I
read
the
name
of
your
company,
please
start
making
your
way
to
the
stage
and
gather
to
my
right
after
you
receive
your
award
and
have
your
photo
taken.
L
On
the
second
floor,
the
project
is
expected
to
generate
a
total
capital
investment
of
4.8
million
and
result
in
the
creation
of
30
full-time
equivalent
jobs,
special
thanks
to
the
Michigan
Economic
Development
Corporation,
the
Michigan
strategic
fund
and
the
City
of
Bay
City
for
approving
incentives
that
secured
the
Redevelopment
of
this
building
and
the
investment
by
this
company.
Thank
you
for
making
Bay
City
your
mission.
L
L
L
L
Conversations
about
the
procurement
of
the
building
occurred,
beginning
in
2021,
with
the
success
of
the
Auburn
location
in
O's,
Pub
and
Grill
Mark
and
Laura
decided
to
take
on
the
huge
project
of
rehabilitating
the
former
Hooters
restaurant
at
966
East
Midland
Street.
They
plan
to
open
before
summertime
and
are
hiring
now.
Thank
you,
Mark
and
Laura
for
your
investment
in
our
community.
A
Thank
you,
Kristen
Trevor,
thank
you
to
all
of
today's
honorees
for
your
investment
in
the
future
of
Bay
County,
your
dreams,
your
ideas,
Vision
investment
and
efforts
are
truly
the
fuel
that
moves
the
engine
of
progress.
It's
interesting
when
you
see
these
projects
up
on
the
screen
and
I'm
looking
around
the
room
at
tables
and
I,
see
people
like.
Oh
that's
going
to
great.
You
know
everyone's
excited
about
these
projects,
so
thank
you.
A
I've
had
the
honor
to
live
in
Bay
County
since
the
year
2000
and
I've
always
had
some
relationship
with
Bay
future,
but
I've
been
very
closely
involved
with
Bay
future
for
more
than
five
years
now,
and
every
spring
As
We
Gather
to
review
highlights
from
the
previous
year
I'm
always
in
awe
of
the
progress
being
made
in
our
community.
A
It
always
reminds
me
of
something
that
my
parents
and
my
in-laws
said
to
me
when
they
were
visiting
a
few
years
ago.
There's
so
much
going
on
here,
they
would
say,
seems
like
every
time
we
come
to
visit.
You
there's
a
new
business,
a
new
restaurant,
a
new
place
to
gather.
What's
that
cream
doing?
What's
that
cream?
A
Doing
you
guys
live
in
a
great
Community,
you
know,
while
we
sometimes
need
the
words
of
out-of-towners
to
remind
us
how
lucky
we
are
I,
think
everyone
in
this
room
understands
it
so
I
encourage
you
all
to
keep
telling
our
story,
especially
as
it
relates
to
Economic
Development.
A
If
you
know
me-
and
you
know
my
background,
you'll
not
be
surprised
to
hear
me,
tell
you
that
telling
the
story
is
of
equal
importance
to
all
other
parts
of
Economic
Development.
So
my
challenge
to
you
today
is
go
out
and
shout
it
from
the
mountaintops.
Let
everyone
know
what
a
great
Community
we
have.
A
A
The
plan,
as
noted
in
the
video,
includes
three
programs:
first
with
a
long-term
goal
of
telling
the
story
of
our
community
to
the
world,
and
you
all
know
how
important
I
think
that
is
and
to
attract
and
retain
Talent.
We
helped
launch
the
workforce,
Talent
attraction
and
retention
program
commonly
known
as
hay.
Bay
City.
A
If
you
haven't
checked
out
one
of
Phil,
Ike's
hay,
Bay,
City
podcasts,
be
sure
to
treat
yourself
they're
amazing,
we're
so
lucky
to
have
Phil
in
this
community
and
also
follow
all
of
the
hey
Bay
City
storytelling.
That's
going
on
on
social
media,
Phil,
I
didn't
I,
don't
know
if
you're
here,
Phil
are
you
here.
I
was
still
not
here
today,
make
sure
everyone
you
see,
Phil
tell
them
thanks.
A
Second,
with
a
medium-term
goal
of
offering
ongoing
support
to
small
businesses,
the
small
business
entrepreneurial
support
program
was
launched.
Small
Business,
Development,
Center
and
Bay
future
welcomed
Michelle
Judd
to
the
team
last
year
and
she
has
hit
the
ground
running,
providing
support
and
programs
to
small
businesses.
Michelle
are
you
here
today
there
you
are
stand
up
Michelle,
let's
give
her
a
big
round
of
applause.
A
And
finally,
to
immediately
offset
the
continued
Financial
burdens,
our
Bay
County
small
businesses
faced
in
2022,
the
Bay
County
Small,
Business,
Development
or
sorry.
The
Bay
County
small
business
grant
program
was
implemented
to
reduce
the
economic
impact
of
the
ongoing
pandemic
on
Bay
County,
small
businesses
and
workers.
A
In
total,
67
percent
of
eligible
businesses
who
applied
for
the
grant
were
awarded
with
an
average
Grant
amount
of
more
than
seven
thousand
dollars
in
reimbursement
funding.
Businesses
from
throughout
Bay
County
benefited
from
this
program,
with
66
percent
of
award
recipients
being
minority-owned,
women-owned
or
veteran-owned
small
businesses
that
were
disproportionately
impacted
by
the
effects
of
covet
19..
A
We're
thankful
to
the
Bay
County
Board
of
Commissioners
for
their
support
in
allocating
arpa
funding
to
this
initiative
and
to
our
grant
Review
Committee,
comprised
of
bay
future
board
members,
Community,
Business,
Leaders
and
business
professionals
who
meticulously
reviewed
and
scored
applications.
At
the
end
of
the
day.
A
As
noted
earlier,
141
businesses
received
grant
funding,
some
of
which
are
here
today
to
celebrate
with
us
at
this
time,
I'd
like
to
ask
those
Bay,
County
small
business,
grant
award
recipients
who
are
able
to
attend
today
to
come
forward
to
the
stage
and
gather
at
my
right
for
a
photo
as
they
come
forward.
We'd
like
to
thank
those
small
businesses
that
provided
gifts
that
you'll
find
on
some
of
your
tables
today,
so
small
business
owners
that
received
grants
through
our
program.
L
A
A
A
A
The
second
way
you
can
support
these
small
businesses
is
through
your
patronage.
Please
support
them,
purchase
their
products.
Tell
your
friends,
tell
your
family
tell
your
neighbors
about
them,
and
third
I
encourage
you
all
to
take
out.
Your
cell
phones
today
take
a
picture
of
their
products
that
are
around
the
room
they're
on
many
of
the
tables
here
today,
if
you're
so
inclined
share
that
photo
on
social
media
tag,
their
business
help
promote
what
they
do
in
our
community,
again
they're
the
backbone
in
the
heartbeat.
A
This
is
a
full
list
of
the
141
Grant
recipients
again
go
to
their
businesses,
purchase
their
products.
Take
pictures
share
on
social
media
amplify
the
story.
That's
what
economic
development
is
all
about,
and
now
I'd
invite
you
to
watch
the
screen.
As
we
see
a
video
that
highlights
some
of
these
incredible
small
businesses.
I
Been
in
a
wonderful
position
to
be
able
to
offer,
with
the
help
of
our
partners,
Grant
programs
that
have
helped
small
businesses
continue
to
operate
through
covid
and
then
post
covet
as
well.
What
we've
been
able
to
do
with
that
partnership?
Is
we've
been
able
to
produce
and
offer
16
different
Grant
programs.
The
grants
were
kind
of
a
lifesaver.
C
K
L
I
C
Know
I've
got
a
large
responsibility
here,
a
lot
of
mouths
to
feed.
Everybody
relies
on
my
wife
and
I
to
generate
the
business
and
provide
that
living
for
them,
so
they
can
feed
their
families.
That
Grant
gave
us
the
ability
to
do
that.
So
I
didn't
have
to
disappoint
those
guys
and
say:
hey
I
can't
give
you
the
hours
this
week.
That
was
a
huge
huge
help
for
us,
and
now
we
have
a
vibrant,
thriving
business
in
the
community.
You
know
which
helps
everybody
we.
N
Was
either
we're
going
to
continue
the
way
we
were
going
or
not,
and
it
was
just
you
pray
about
it
and
the
next
day,
Bay
future
comes
out
with
with
the
the
gift
card
program
where
they
were
giving
us
a
couple
thousand
dollars,
and
that
was
that
was
keeping
us
going
for
the
next
three
months.
That's
all
we
needed,
and
now
we've
just
grown
with
our
connections
and
they've
marketed
for
us
and
and
just
helped.
People
know
who
we
are.
F
How
obey
future
pivoted
resources
and
efforts
to
help
support
local
businesses
here
in
the
community
I
think
some
of
that
local
support
and
coaching
on
top
of
some
of
the
just
the
pure
resiliency
and
grit
that
exists
here
in
the
local
community
have
helped
some
of
these
businesses
navigate
through
to
get
Beyond
digging
out
from
under
the
impacts
of
the
pandemic,
but
starting
to
move
forward
again.
A
lot
of
small.
I
N
J
We
actually
met
Bay
future
at
one
of
the
chamber
events
we
found
out
about
the
Grant
and
we
applied
for
the
grant,
and
so
we've
been
you
know
in
contact
with
Bay
future.
Since
then,
Megan
actually
got
us
in
touch
with
somebody
else
to
help
us
with
trying
to
bring
our
new
staff
members
and
things
like
that.
It's.
K
I
Think
one
of
the
really
great
things
about
the
program
specifically
is
hearing
the
stories
about
how
it
impacted
those
businesses
in
ways
that
we
never
really
thought.
When
we
put
the
program
together,
I
mean
it's
one
of
those
feelings
that
it's
easy
to
go
home
at
night
and
feel
like
the
time
that
you
put
in
was
time
well
worth
it.
A
O
Good
afternoon,
everyone
from
the
Michigan
sbdc
as
any
as
every
organization
acronym
soups
everything,
that's
also
known
as
the
Michigan
Small
Business
Development
Center,
I'm,
Beth,
rosaticky
and
I
had
the
opportunity
to
join
the
sbdc
in
June
of
2020
at
our
regional
office
at
svsu
and
recently
joined
our
state
office
in
October
of
this
year,
now,
I'd
like
to
introduce
you
to
our
fearless
leader,
JD
Collins,
our
state
director
or
in
the
for-profit
world.
Our
CEO.
O
D
E
My
name
is
Kevin
Parker
and
I'm,
with
artigiano
artisan
cheese
shop
in
downtown
Bay
City
Michigan.
We
primarily
focus
on
a
selection
of
specialty
cheeses
and
charcuterie
imported,
mostly
from
Europe,
and
also
some
domestic,
artisan
and
Farmstead
cheese
makers.
Artigiano
started
as
a
small
family
owned
hobby
business
in
2008..
Our
vision
is
to
just
provide
fantastic
Specialty
Foods
to
people
in
the
area
who
might
not
otherwise
have
access
to
them.
E
We
faced
challenges
when
we
were
starting
just
familiarizing
the
the
people
in
the
area
with
our
product,
making
them
aware
that
we're
here
it
took
us
a
couple
years
to
kind
of
introduce
ourselves,
introduce
our
product
and
make
people
aware
that
we
were
here.
Wind
shutdowns
first
happened
in
2020.
We
had
no
idea
what
to
do
where
to
go
for
assistance
working
with
the
Michigan
sbdc
helped
us
to
really
navigate
the
covid
restrictions,
alter
our
our
business
model
and
kind
of
developed
new
strategies.
E
The
local
sbdc
had
been
super
informative
and
very,
very
helpful
in
locating
funds
and
different
programs
and
Advising
us
through
how
to
apply
for
those
to
move
our
business
forward
and
also
to
make
adjustments
in
our
business
model
to
really
still
help
take
care
of
our
customers
and
offer
them
the
services
that
they
had
become
accustomed
to.
We
just
wanted
to
bring
our
interests
in
cheese
and
Specialty
Foods
to
our
area.
D
I'm
going
to
start
off
in
an
odd
spot
here
and
start
off
with
my
thank
yous
first,
but
there's
a
rationale
for
this,
and
that
is
listen
to
what
Rob
had
to
say
of
Bay
County
Bay
Futures.
You
guys
are
doing
it
the
right
way
and
there's
a
rationale
for
this,
and
it
is
the
Partnerships
that
Trevor
talked
about
in
that
video
that
make
this
all
happen
and
I
have
to
say.
D
Be
thankful
that
we
have
the
structure
that
we
have
today,
because
it
allows
for
this
type
of
Economic,
Development
and
growth
that
we
see
here
so
I
had
this
big
idea
that
I
was
going
to
give
you
this
like.
Futuristic.
Look
into
what
was
going
to
happen
in
small
business
until
I
started
doing
my
research-
and
here
are
two
very
well-known
economists,
Larry
Summers
and
Daniel.
Both
are
saying
that
this
economy
is
impossible
to
forecast
and
so
I
ditched.
That
idea
and
I
think
Bond
good
reason
there.
D
But
what
I
will
say
is
that
the
road
ahead
is
uncertain
and
there
are
certain
things
that
I'm
picking
up
on
in
this
room
that
warmed
my
heart
and
those
are
the
fact
that
Bay
County
supports
their
small
businesses.
I
heard
about
a
few
while
I
was
in
line
today
modes,
the
All-Star
Hair
Cutting
and
the
tenets
of
that
place
that
burned
down
and
to
see
how
this
community
has
rallied
around
those
businesses
to
come
to
them
and
support
them
in
this
time
of
need.
D
D
I
want
you
to
know
that
the
sbdc
is
here
to
help
and
then
maybe
give
you
some
insights
to
what
we
learned
about
successful
small
businesses
and
how
they
made
it
through
the
pandemic.
And
so
those
are
the
three
things
I'd
like
you
to
take
away.
I
am
also
acutely
aware
that
I
stand
between
you
in
an
80
degree
day
and
I
will
try
to
make
this
brief.
So
please
try
to
keep
me
on
time.
D
I
appreciate
that,
first
of
all,
the
importance
of
small
business
I'm
not
going
to
drown
you
in
numbers,
I'm,
just
going
to
tell
you
that
half
the
people
in
Michigan
are
employed
by
a
small
business
and
more
than
half
of
new
job
creation
comes
from
small
business.
Let
that
sink
in,
and
then
we
think
about
the
diversity
of
supply
chain
that
that
some
businesses
didn't
have
during
the
pandemic
and
what
kind
of
effect
that
had
on
them.
D
Well,
small
businesses
in
a
community
like
this,
provide
that
diversity
that
allows
for
this
economy
to
thrive,
and
so
small
businesses
are
incredibly
important,
but
I
think
what
they're
really
good
at
is.
Building
community
Community
is
incredibly
important
and
at
that
core
are
these
small
businesses.
These
small
businesses
are
the
ones
that
know
your
name
when
you
walk
in
and
they're
the
ones
that
donate
to
your
kids
t-ball
team.
So
thank
you
to
the
small
businesses-
and
here
you
are
the
lifeblood
of
this
community.
D
Now,
for
the
second
point-
and
that's
the
Michigan
sbdc
I-
want
you
to
know,
take
away
from
this
that
we're
here
to
help
the
sbdc.
Fundamentally,
we
are
consultancy,
we
are
100
people
strong,
and
we
are
typically
experts
in
a
field
or
two:
that's
the
team
who
do
we
serve.
We
serve
entrepreneurs
and
small
businesses.
Kevin.
Thank
you
again
and
we
serve
in
a
number
of
different
ways
in
that
entrepreneurial
space.
D
We
also
serve
growth
stage.
Businesses
like
Onyx
Enterprises.
We
help
them
with
growth
strategies,
strategic
planning
and
I'm,
really
proud
of
a
product
that
our
growth
team
has
put
together
called
Focus.
Four,
it's
an
Executive
Education
platform
that
allows
businesses
that
are
interested
in
growing,
going
from
10
employees
to
15
or
even
bigger,
allows
that
management
team
to
organize
around
growth
strategies
and
our
growth
team
does
a
wonderful
job
of
administering
this
program.
We
call
Focus,
for
we
also
serve
advanced
technology
companies.
D
D
So
those
are
the
the
big
components
of
what
we
do,
but
we
do
more.
Cyber
security,
international
trade
market
research
I
want
to
provide
you
with
a
little
bit
of
background
on
cyber
security,
and
this
is
for
all
the
small
business
owners
in
the
room.
Cyber
security
isn't
really
sexy
to
talk
about
until
it
affects
your
small
business
and
so
I
would
urge
you
to
engage
early
in
cyber
security
training,
a
small
business
confided.
In
me
they
were
a
food
truck
business.
D
D
Excuse
me,
we
do
this
through
one-on-one
Consulting
and
through
training
that
can
be
done,
synchronously
or
asynchronously
online,
but
at
the
core
of
what
we
do
is
one-on-one
Consulting
and
I
have
another
story
to
tell
you
about
one-on-one
Consulting,
and
some
of
you
may
know
that
Silicon
Valley
Bank
went
under
recently
well
that
affected
some
businesses
here
in
Michigan,
and
some
of
those
businesses
were
clients
of
the
sbdc
and
when
the
bank
went
under,
they
were
scared
and
they
had
a
relationship
with
the
sbdc.
D
D
Thankfully,
on
Monday,
the
federal
government
came
through
and
supported
them,
but
Brooks
was
there
to
support
these
clients
through
what
was
a
very
difficult
time,
and
it
was
because
he
had
that
one-on-one
relationship
that
they
felt
comfortable,
picking
up
the
phone
and
talking
to
Brooks.
So
at
the
core
of
what
we
do.
D
One-On-One
Consulting
and
a
relationship
base
that
our
Consultants
have
with
the
small
business
we're
in
all
83
counties,
and
we
have
relationships
with
universities
that
allow
us
to
serve
all
83
counties,
so
you
can
see
up
in
the
upper
peninsula,
we're
affiliated
with
Michigan
Tech,
obviously
here
in
the
Lake
Huron
ridge
region,
with
Saginaw
Valley
State
University.
Thank
you
very
much
for
your
partnership,
Saginaw
Valley
and
then
throughout
the
state
with
other
universities
and
we're
part
of
a
National
Organization.
So
every
state
has
an
sbdc.
D
This
is
the
part
that
gets
a
lot
of
small
businesses.
It's
no
cost.
It's
free.
You
can
engage
with
the
sbdc
and
we're
never
going
to
charge
you
a
thing,
we're
unbiased.
So
this
is
a
judgment-free
Zone
with
the
sbdc
and
everything
that
you
do
with
us
is
confidential.
Unless
you
sign
a
confidentiality
waiver.
Thank
you
Kevin
for
doing
that.
So
we
could
talk
about
you
in
open
Forum
today
appreciate
that
all
right.
D
This
is
a
little
bit
of
a
brag,
but
the
currency
that
the
sbdc
has
back
to
our
stakeholders
is
our
performance,
and
that
is
the
impact
that
we
have
on
the
state
of
Michigan.
You
can
see
here
that
Capital
formation,
new
business
starts
jobs
created
and
job
supported,
are
all
part
of
that
and
you
can
see
that
number
in
the
bottom
left
there.
8
500,
total
clients
served
so
keep
that
in
the
back
of
your
mind
as
I.
D
Go
to
that
I
think
the
next
slide
here,
yeah
not
yet
I
can
talk
about
the
sbdc
until
I'm
blue
in
the
face
and
I.
Sometimes
I
go
too
far,
but
our
clients
really
say
it.
The
best
I
love
this
quote
by
Sean.
He
says
you
can't
Google
everything
when
you
need
to
talk
with
an
expert,
that's
where
the
sbdc
comes
in
I
love.
That
quote
all
right.
Here's
where
you
take
that
that
8
500
number
a
lot
of
small
businesses
start
their
Journey
with
the
Michigan
sbdc
a
lot
of
times.
D
We
are
the
right
people
to
support
you,
but
sometimes
we're
not.
It
is
the
relationships
that
we
have
in
the
Greater
Community
like
with
Bay
Futures
with
Spam
and
whoever
it
might
be
that
we
can
get
you
to
the
people
that
are
right
to
help
you,
if
we're
not
the
ones,
and
so
we
take
that
very
seriously.
D
D
This
is
what
we,
this
is
a
comparison
between
our
top
seven
list,
pre
and
post
pandemic
or
pandemic,
and
post-pandemic
and
I
will
tell
you
that
it's
not
much
different
I
will
say
that
the
the
that
digital
plan
has
shrunk
in
importance
a
little
bit,
but
the
strong,
Mission
and
values
and
workplace
culture
have
started
to
rise.
D
D
Through
the
pandemic,
we
also
recognized
that
not
everyone
had
access
to
our
services.
We
did
a
pretty
good
job
in
larger
areas.
We
did
poorer
jobs.
We
got
more
urban
as
we
got
more
residential
as
we
got
more
rural
and
we
recognized
that
there
is
a
need
for
us
to
do
Outreach
better.
D
We've
also
recognized
that
there
was
this
need
to
go
back
to
the
basics,
Financial
fundamentals.
We
found
that
businesses
that
were
fundamentally
sound
pre-pandemic
were
those
that
thrived
during
the
pandemic
and
post-pandemic.
So
this
return
to
the
basics,
and
what
has
that
done?
That's
created
this
tremendous
Demand
on
the
sbdc.
We
have
seen
a
24
increase
in
demand
for
our
services
and
we're
not
seeing
that
Plateau.
D
D
And
the
answer
is
absolutely
there's
hope.
I
am
part
of
a
micro
business
Coalition,
where
we're
looking
at
the
barriers
to
small
business
entry
that
can
be
food-based,
businesses,
place-based
businesses
and
we're
absolutely
looking
at
all
of
those
licensing.
All
of
those
fees
affiliated
with
that
to
say
how
do
we
get
small
businesses
into
the
system
earlier
without
having
to
jump
through
all
those
hurdles,
so
the
small
business
Coalition
includes
the
sbdc
and
a
number
of
other
organizations
throughout
throughout
the
state.
So,
yes,
we're
on
your
side.
D
I
I
So
JD
lied.
He
did
say
that
he
was
between
you
and
the
80
degree
day.
That
is
not
true.
I
am
between
you
and
the
80
degree
day,
so
I'm
going
to
try
and
wrap
my
you've
heard
enough
for
me
today,
but
I
I
truly
want
to
thank
you
and
formally
recognize
and
thank
the
bay
future
drive
forward
investors
who
make
our
work
each
day
possible.
All
of
us
working
together
to
keep
our
community
growing
and
thriving.
That's
the
secret
right
there.
I
The
success
in
our
community
without
the
support
of
our
private
sector
businesses,
our
public
sector
municipalities,
our
friends
in
labor,
our
Resource
Partners
Bay
future,
wouldn't
have
the
tools
to
carry
out
the
mission
and
vision
that
we
have
of
facilitating
growth
and
creating
new
jobs
for
our
community
residents.
So,
thank
you
so
much.
I
We
look
forward
driving
additional
Economic,
Development
and
economic
growth
forward
with
all
of
your
partnership
on
behalf
of
the
bay
future
board
of
directors.
We
would
like
to
thank
our
annual
report
meeting
committee,
our
annual
report
meeting
sponsor
Great
Lakes
Bay
Michigan
Works,
our
annual
report
design
and
print
sponsor
McLaren
Bay
Region.
I
Our
video
sponsor
Enbridge
our
award
sponsor
ATS
Printing
and
a
special
thanks
to
imageworks
for
their
creation
of
the
wonderful
videos
that
you've
been
doing
enjoying
all
this
afternoon
at
last
year's
big
future
annual
meeting
I
had
the
distinct
pleasure
of
telling
you
about
some
of
the
largest
projects
and
Investments
our
community
has
ever
seen
this
year.
We
had
the
opportunity
to
introduce
to
you
your
new
favorite
small
businesses
here
in
Bay
County.
I
What
will
next
year
hold
I
would
love
to
announce
to
you
today,
information
on
the
multiple
projects
we're
currently
working
on
that
will
invest
more
than
100
million
dollars
in
our
community
and
provide
more
than
150
new
jobs
to
our
community
residents.
But
unfortunately,
that
will
have
to
wait
if
you
breach
non-disclosure
agreements,
you
go
to
jail
I
like
it
out
here
with
all
of
you.
I
I
would
like
to
announce
today,
formerly,
however,
the
launch
of
a
program
that
will
help
to
ensure
that
the
type
of
investment
in
job
creation,
I
just
referenced,
continues
to
find
its
way
to
our
community
for
decades
to
come
in
Economic,
Development
experience
and
practice
the
the
added.
If
you
build
it,
they
will
come
constantly
applies.
I
Businesses
and
employers
who
are
seeking
relocation,
often
look
for
existing
facilities,
clear
land
and
developed
infrastructure
that
will
address
their
needs
directly
now
be
future
recognizes
the
disadvantage
of
having
an
attic,
an
inadequate
inventory
of
sites
and
locations
to
take
to
Market
in
recognition
of
this
Bay
future
has
worked
diligently
for
years
to
build
the
inventory
of
our
shovel
ready
sites
in
Bay
County.
It's
so
important
to
the
growth
of
our
community
that
we
put
it
in
our
strategic
action
plan.
It's
the
fourth
pillar
of
success.
I
It's
called
Drive
Market,
available
shovel,
ready
locations
and
sites.
You
may
recall
an
article
in
MLive
in
September
of
2019.
The
headline
read
something
like
Bay
future
gets
a
hundred
thousand
dollar
Grant
to
help
prepare
for
development
and
monitor
Township.
It
talked
about
participation
in
the
Michigan
Economic
Development
Corporation
build
ready
sites
program.
It
was
one
that
aimed
to
give
development
of
potential
sites
a
competitive
Advantage
by
bringing
closer
these
shovel
ready
sites
to
Market.
I
This
program
was
launched,
Statewide
to
great
success
and
has
helped
secure
new
companies,
new
jobs
and
new
taxable
income.
Here
to
Michigan
now,
Bay
future
is
hyper.
Focusing
that
program
locally
and
launching
it
community-wide
we're
going
to
call
it
build
ready,
Bay,
County
or
brbc.
We
love
acronyms
step.
One
will
be
evaluating
properties
throughout
the
most
developable
areas
of
Bay
County,
in
partnership
with
our
Municipal
leaders,
Public
Works
and
utility
officials
and
engineers
and
planners.
Secondly,
we'll
be
comparing
those
sites
through
a
vetted
site
criteria
and
working
to
get
these
sites
shuttle
ready.
I
I
We
believe
this
program
will
help
to
give
our
community
a
competitive
Advantage
as
we
look
to
attract
the
next
SK
ciltron
CSS,
the
next
Wilkinson
minerals
or
the
next
fill
in
the
blank.
So
let's
get
our
community
ready,
build
ready
with
build
ready.
Bc
I
have
to
thank
the
engine
that
makes
these
drive
forward
efforts
possible.
The
tireless
hard
work
of
this
imaginative,
ingenious
and
inspired
team
at
Bay
future
is
second
to
none.
