Good
evening
hi
I'm
Austin
Miller
and
I
attend
Bay
City
Western
High
School.
Please
welcome
Michael
wilty,
a
retired
police
officer
who,
18
years
ago
as
a
Career,
Center
law
enforcement
instructor
started
this
project
blue
light
program.
We
are
here
today
because
of
his
vision.
Mister
wilty
will
be
leading
us
in
prayer.
E
Please
bow
your
head
Almighty
God,
whose
great
power
and
eternal
wisdom
embraces
our
universe.
Please
watch
over
all
law
enforcement
officers
Father
in
heaven.
Please
give
them
the
strength,
courage
and
perseverance
to
endure
the
unjust
condemnation,
danger
and
physical
abuse
to
which
they
are
at
times
subjected.
E
E
If
you
could,
please
give
the
medical
staff
that
are
working
with
trooper
van
Elle's
courage,
strength,
knowledge
to
help
them
find
a
solution
to
this
unbelievable
disease
that
he
has
at
the
age
of
22
police,
give
his
family
and
fiance
the
support
and
courage.
They
need
to
battle
this
with
him,
especially
during
this
holiday
season.
In
your
name,
we
pray
ahmen.
F
Good
evening,
it's
my
honor
to
welcome
you
to
the
18th
annual
project
blue
light.
My
name
is
Emil,
o
Basinski
I'm,
a
senior
at
essexville,
Garber,
High
School,
and
a
2nd
year
student
in
the
law
enforcement
program
at
the
Bay
Area
nack
ISD,
Career
Center.
Since
I'm
a
second
year
student
I've
had
the
opportunity
to
ride,
along
with
several
of
the
departments
present
here
tonight,
I'm
incredibly
grateful
for
the
opportunity,
because
it
has
shown
me
at
the
type
of
world
police
officers
face
today.
F
I
have
seen
the
safety
issues
and
the
sometimes
ungrateful
dangerous
people
officers
deal
with
on
a
day
to
day
basis.
It's
humbling
to
see
officers
who
face
dangerous
situations,
resolve
things
peacefully,
with
patience
and
kindness.
I
speak
on
behalf
of
my
class
to
say
it's
our
honor,
to
put
on
Project
Blue
Light
every
year
in
today's
world.
It's
easy
to
feel
as
if
the
job
you
do
and
the
sacrifices
you
make
go
unseen
tonight.
F
We
make
sure
no
one
goes
unnoticed,
as
we
remember
and
honor
those
who
have
made
the
ultimate
sacrifice
and,
as
we
appreciate
those
who
continue
to
put
their
lives
on
the
line
each
day,
our
class's
students
who
aspire
to
be
future
law
enforcement
officers
want
to
leave
you
with
some
comforting
words:
the
sacrifices
of
those
who
have
fallen
and
those
who
continue
to
serve
I,
remembered
each
and
every
day
in
our
class.
Thank
you
for
all
that
you
have
done.
You
are
not
forgotten.
G
My
name
is
Madeline
Byrne
Ellis
and
I'm,
a
senior
at
Bay
City,
Central,
High
School.
This
is
my
first
year
at
Bay
or
neck
ist
in
the
law
enforcement
class.
Since
the
end
of
August,
we
have
learned
a
lot
of
new
things
like
different
issues,
techniques
and
methods.
Police
officers
use
in
the
situations
that
they
face
in
each
day
before
taking
this
class,
I
did
not
understand
what
the
work
of
a
police
officer
truly
was.
Police
officers
are
brave,
strong,
helpful
men
and
women
on
behalf
of
the
law
enforcement
students.
G
We
would
like
to
thank
all
of
the
outfit
officers
who
have
served
and
are
serving
in
our
commune.
We
would
also
like
to
thank
their
fan,
their
families
of
these
officers
for
their
support
and
sacrifices.
The
amount
of
work
you
all
have
done
for
the
community
will
not
go
unseen
as
a
law
enforcement
student
I
am
learning
that
it
takes
a
lot
of
dedication
and
pride
to
serve
and
protect
our
community
every
day.
We
hope
this
ceremony
shows
our
appreciation
to
those
who
are
serving,
who
have
served
and
to
have
given
our
lives
serving.
H
Hello,
my
name
is
Nicholas
Brody
and
I'm.
A
proud
student
of
Garber
high
school
I'm,
a
first
year
law
enforcement
student
at
the
Career
Center
throughout
my
life,
I've
been
surrounded
by
firefighters
and
police
officers.
Even
my
mom
is
a
paramedic.
The
role
that
that
has
had
in
my
life
is
just
tremendous.
In
the
past
four
months
of
being
in
this
Career
Center
class
of
law
enforcement
I've
changed
my
entire
life
goals.
H
All
of
the
Oh.
All
of
the
officers
here
today
have
tremendous
courage
and
all
of
the
fallen
officers
had
even
more.
They
had
the
courage.
They
have
the
courage
to
help
someone
and
not
stand
idly
by.
That's
the
quality
of
a
hero,
our
heroes
fight,
so
we
don't
have
to,
and
so
we
can
sleep
peacefully
at
night
with
their
courage
to
make
the
ultimate
sacrifice.
The
world
is
undoubtedly
a
better
place.
My
thoughts
and
prayers
go
to
all
of
the
families.
Here.

C
I
Good
evening
my
name
is
Emily
Zastrow
and
I
attend
Pinconning
high
school.
Our
next
speaker
is
a
former
Bay
Area
nak
ISD
Career
Center
criminal
justice
student
after
graduating
from
Bay
City
Western
High
School.
In
2008.
He
attended
Ferris
State
University,
where
he
obtained
a
Bachelors
of
Science
degree
in
2012
specializing
in
law
enforcement.
He
began
his
Korean
ler
in
law
enforcement
at
the
South
Gate
Police
Department.
He
currently
works
for
the
Midland
Police
Department,
as
a
patrol
man
patrolman
and
at
Delta
College.
As
an
instructor.
I
J
Good
evening,
I'd
like
to
start
off
by
saying
it's
an
honor
and
a
privilege
to
be
here
this
evening,
having
been
a
former
student
in
the
criminal
justice
program
at
the
bay
area,
neck
ISD,
Career,
Center
I,
understand
the
preparation
that
goes
into
this
memorial
event.
At
this
point,
in
2019,
111
police
officers
have
been
killed
in
the
line
of
duty
in
the
United
States
111
families
that
are
grieving
around
this
holiday
season.
J
111
families
asking
themselves
why
our
family,
why
did
it
have
to
be
them
for
those
111
families?
This
will
be
the
first
holiday
season
without
them,
I
often
visit
the
Officer
Down
Memorial
Page
on
the
internet.
If
you
have
never
visited
that
webpage
before
I
highly
recommend,
you
do
as
I
scroll
through
the
list
of
names
that
have
been
killed
in
the
line
of
duty.
I
can't
help
but
notice
the
hundreds
of
smiling
faces
that
are
no
longer
with
us.
J
J
J
Upon
arrival,
the
officers
were
met
by
the
victim
outside
of
the
residence
and
they
revised
the
suspect
was
inside
the
home
and
that
he
was
armed
with
a
gun.
Due
to
the
nature
of
this
call,
two
additional
offers
arrived
in
assisted
officer,
mcclain
and
officer
bottom
Bisi.
The
four
officers
entered
the
home
in
search
for
the
as
the
officers
were
searching,
the
interior
of
the
home.
They
were
met
by
gunfire
from
the
suspect
officer.
Mcclane
was
shot
in
the
neck
and
later
transported
to
the
hospital.
J
This
suspect
this
coward,
who
killed
officer
McClane,
was
no
stranger
to
the
criminal
justice
system,
having
a
violent
past
and
recently
being
paroled
earlier
this
year,
officer,
machine,
MacLean,
46
years
of
age
leaves
behind
his
wife
of
10
years
and
two
stepchildren,
as
well
as
hundreds
of
thousands
of
brothers
and
sisters
in
blue
officer.
Mcclane
knew
this
person
was
earned.
Yet
he
still
went
inside
that
home
to
find
the
suspect
officer.
J
J
J
J
We
are
the
ones
that
take
that
man
to
gel
that
strangled
his
wife
for
the
tenth
time,
because
she
built
up
the
courage
to
call
9-1-1
for
the
first
time
and
we're
also
the
ones
that
knock
on
a
mother's
door
at
3
o'clock
in
the
morning.
To
tell
her
that
her
19
year
old
son
had
has
been
killed
in
the
car
crash
by
a
drunk
driver.
J
We
have
to
see
a
society
at
their
maddest,
saddest
and
baddest
every
single
day,
which
brings
me
to
my
nuts
next
topic:
the
elephant
in
the
room.
We
know
there
have
been
a
hundred
and
eleven
hundred
eleven
in
the
line
of
duty
to
us
across
the
United
States
this
year,
but
you
may
be
shocked
to
hear
that
to
this
date
in
2019,
two
hundred
and
twelve
officers
has
died
as
a
result
of
suicide,
almost
double
the
number
of
in
the
line
of
duty
deaths,
and
nobody
wants
to
talk
about
this
issue.
Why
is
that?
J
Is
it
because,
if
we
ask
for
help,
it
makes
us
look
weak
too
often
as
law
enforcement
officers?
Do
we
believe
that,
because
we
are
the
ones
that
are
supposed
to
help
others?
This
means
that
we
can't
ask
for
that
help
I'm
here
to
tell
you
that
we
cannot
do
this
job
on
our
own.
We
need
to
have
a
strong
support
group.
Whether
your
support
group
is
within
your
agency
at
home
or
with
counseling.
Please
keep
up
on
your
mental
health.
J
This
job
has
a
way
of
pulling
each
string
inside
you.
This
job
tries
to
break
each
string.
You
have
don't
let
it
be
not
afraid
to
ask
for
help
when
you
need
it,
there's
absolutely
nothing
to
be
ashamed
of,
although
our
exterior
may
never
show
it
we
heard
in
grieve
on
the
inside,
we
will
never
stop.
We
will
never
quit.
We
will
continue
to
tie
our
boots,
throw
on
our
vests
button
up
our
shirts
and
strap
on
our
duty
belts.
J
We
will
walk
out
that
door,
knowing
that
next
call
may
be
the
last
thing
that
we
ever
do.
It
does
not
stop
us.
We
are
doing
exactly
what
we
were
destined
to
do
in
this
world.
We
are
here
to
protect
and
serve
I,
see
the
Delta
College
police
academy
is
here
in
attendance
tonight.
I
commend
all
of
you
for
answering
the
call
and
stepping
up
to
the
plate.
In
a
time
where
law
enforcement
is
viewed
as
the
enemy.
You
have
not
let
this
negative
stigma
discourage
you
from
your
interests
in
law
enforcement.
J
Thank
you
to
the
men
and
women
in
uniform
I.
Thank
you
for
everything
you
do
day
in
and
day
out,
I
understand
the
challenges
that
you
face
and
know.
I
will
go
into
battle
with
each
and
every
one
of
you
at
the
drop
of
a
hat.
Thank
you
to
the
families
that
have
lost
lost
loved
ones
in
the
line
of
duty.
You
are
forever
in
my
heart.
Your
loved
ones
have
not
been
forgotten
and
they
never
will
be.
They
have
paid
the
ultimate
sacrifice
in
order
for
us
to
live
our
daily
lives
in
peace.
J
Thank
you
for
being
here
tonight
to
pay
tribute
to
your
loved
one,
make
sure
you
hug
your
family
members,
just
a
tad
bit
tighter
tonight,
kiss
your
significant
other
just
a
second
longer
and
never
forget
to
tell
them
that
you
love
them.
When
you
leave,
it
could
be
the
last
opportunity
you
ever
have
to
do
so.
I
want
to
thank
the
students
of
the
bear
neck
ISD
Career
Center
for
all
their
hard
work
and
dedication
that
you've
put
into
the
18th
annual
project
blue
light.
Thank
you
and
God
bless.
K
Hello,
I
am
Gavin,
vest
and
I'm
from
John
Glenn
high
school
I'm,
a
junior
I'd
like
to
introduce
officer,
James
Falak,
and
thank
him
for
his
service
in
Vietnam
as
101st
airborne
officer
who
want
his
work:
part-time,
gladwyn,
City,
Police
Department
for
ten
years
after
serving
36
years
as
a
Michigan
State
Police
trooper
in
30
years,
an
emergency
service
team
officer.
The
law
has
been
instructor
at
three
Michigan
State
Police
academies
as
well
as
teaching
multiple
years
at
Kirtland,
Regional,
Police
Academy,
along
with
all
these
great
accomplishments
officer.
K
L
L
L
Like
you
said,
I
was
a
trooper
for
36
years.
They
had
way
too
many
fellow
warriors
and
officers
killed.
That
was
the
honor
guard
for
many
of
those
people.
It
just
happens
way
too
often.
Tonight
I
want
to
share
a
story
with
you
of
one
of
my
close
friends
and
fellow
warriors
that
was
killed
in
the
line
of
duty.
I
was
working
at
the
Lansing
folks
than
a
young
trooper
got
transferred
there
from
the
Detroit
Freeway
post
name
was
Craig.
L
Scott
I
met
Craig,
we
hit
it
off,
he
was
army
veteran
too,
and
we
were
aggressive
troopers
and
we
just
like
people
working
together
each
other
with
each
other.
I
helped
him
in
his
wife
move
in
with
her
mobile
home
and
set
it
up.
We
went
and
got
permission
to
work
Midnight's
together
as
partners
February.
He
had
to
switch
today
ship
because
he
was
having
some
personal
problems
on
February
9th
1982
Craig
was
working
127
south
of
Lansing
between
Lansing
and
Jackson.
When
he
stopped
at
Camaro
for
speeding,
he
went
up
to
the
driver.
L
L
Dennis
Wynn
didn't
have
a
license:
no
papers
for
the
vehicle,
so
the
trooper
Scott
got
him
out
and
was
taking
him
back
to
the
patrol
car.
Had
him
by
the
friend
the
car
handcuffing
them
the
passenger
Giovana
little
John
had
already
had
it
worked
out
with
the
Wynn
who
was
his
stepbrother.
They
had
a
gun
in
the
car.
One
of
the
females
was
carrying
a
gun.
L
They
had
figured
out
that
if
he
hollered
give
me
the
gloves,
he
was
gonna,
get
out
and
shoot
the
cop
while
trooper
Scott
was
trying
to
arrest
Dennis
Wynn
he
kept
hollering.
Get
me
the
gloves,
give
me
the
gloves.
This
is
through
testimony
later
from
the
passengers.
At
that
time,
Little
John
said
to
one
of
the
girls.
L
Give
me
the
give
me
the
bag,
I'm
gonna
cop
me
a
cap
or
captain
me
a
cop
I'm
sorry,
while
the
wind
was
keeping
trooper
Scott
busy
whew
I
got
the
gun
snuck
out
of
the
car
snuck
up
the
Craig
and
shot
him
three
times
in
the
side
back
then
we
didn't
have
sight
panels
on
her
best.
Trooper
Scott
ran
around
to
the
median.
L
The
suspects
went
down
to
a
little
town
of
Leslie
and
it
was
a
older
woman
backing
out
of
her
driveway.
They
went
up
to
her
any
holiday.
Your
tire
was
flat
when
she
got
out
to
look
at
it.
They
knocked
her
down
and
her
stole
bacon
stole
her
car.
She
got
up
immediately
and
called
the
police
and
within
a
half-hour,
sheriff's
department
and
troopers
had
two
suspects
caught
without
a
fight,
trooper
Scott,
a
lawyer,
went
by
passing
by
and
saw
the
trooper
down
and
stopped
to
render
aid
got
on
the
radio
and
hollered
for
help.
L
L
The
suspects
looking
on
got
life
plus
forty
to
sixty
years
for
armed
robbery
and
jury
with
a
jury
trial.
There
was
another
thing
we
had
to
go
to
a
jury
trial
for
this,
and
this
Widow
had
to
sit
through
this
and
I
sat
with
her
and
during
that
trial,
a
little
Josh
after
and
tried
to
intimidate
her,
and
we
took
care
of
that.
But
it
was
terrible
for
her
when
got
life.
L
He
got
convicted
of
first-degree
murder
and
there
was
a
again
through
testimony
of
their
girls
in
the
backseat
that
they
he
said
to
his
when
they
got
the
car.
If
they
shot
scrape
Craig,
he
said
I'm
glad
you
got
the
hint
about
the
gloves
and
little
John
replied.
They
should
have
shot
the
sucker
and
ahead
I
shot
him
in
the
stomach
three
times
a
day.
Any
dead
Craig
was
28
years
old.

Shortly
after
that,
myself
and
my
wife
and
Lydia
lived
widow
got
with
L
Brooks
Patterson
and
we
got
in
a
campaign
to
get
a
petition
for
bringing
capital
punishment
back
into
Michigan
and
we
fought
hard
for
a,
but
it
didn't
go
through,
but
again
I
was
so
useless
and
senseless.
We
see
this
way
too
often
back,
then
again
we
didn't
have
portable
radios
and
so
Craig
never
knew
the
car
was
stolen.

Have
a
good
friend,
Neil
Rosso,
one
zero,
so
group
when
he
was
a
police
officer,
and
we
taught
at
the
Explorer
camp
for
many
many
years
and
we
would
associate
the
Spartans
the
Roman
soldiers
with
the
warriors
of
the
day
with
police
officers
and
they
they
had
a
creed
about
their
shield.
Now
a
Roman
soldier,
the
Spartans,
they
could
lose
their
sword
and
they
could
lose
their
helmet,
but
they
couldn't
lose
their
shield,
their
sword
and
her
helmet
for
individual
items,
but
their
shield
was
communal.
It
protected
everybody
if
they
lost
their
shield.
