A
I'd
like
to
welcome
you
all
to
the
27th
annual
Bay
County
Sports
Hall
of
Fame
induction
banquet,
my
name
is
Mike
was
Delton.
You
will
get
to
hear
me
for
at
least
the
next
four
or
five
hours,
so
I
will
try
that
I
will
try
to
have
you
out
of
here
by
10:30.
So
if
you
have
a
plane
to
catch,
get
it
changed.
A
Thank
you
all
for
coming
tonight.
We
have
a
wonderful
class
going
in
tonight.
We
have
two
outstanding
teams
going
in
and
we've
got
a.
We
got
a
big
evening
planned
in
front
of
us,
so
we're
going
to
move
right
along
here
with
first
so
I'm
going
to
introduce
Commissioner,
Bay
County
Commissioner
Baum
begin
with
the
bay
county
Proclamation.
Please
welcome
mr.
Fong
baguette.
B
We
passed
this
in
August
by
the
bay
County
Board
of
Commissioners,
whereas
the
bay
County
Sports
Hall
of
Fame
was
established
27
years
ago
for
the
purpose
of
recognizing
athletic
excellence
in
big
County
and
whereas
in
2017
the
Bay
County
Sports
Hall
of
Fame
will
be
inducted.
The
undefeated
1965
visitation
football
team.
B
And
whereas
the
Bay
County,
Sports
Hall
of
Fame,
will
be
honoring
these
individuals
at
the
banquet
to
be
held
on
Sunday,
October,
1st
2017
and
whereas
the
Bay
County
Sports
Hall
of
Fame,
is
to
be
commended
for
their
efforts
and
recognizing
these
teams.
Coaches
and
outstanding
individuals
within
our
community,
therefore
be
it
resolved
at
the
bay
county
board
of
commissioners
and
bake
on
the
executive.
Pay
tribute
to
these
outstanding
athletes
and
extend
best
wishes
to
the
bay
County
Sports
Hall
of
Fame
for
continued
success
in
their
efforts.
Thank
you.
A
C
A
D
As
a
big
County
Sports
Hall
of
Fame
alumni
myself,
along
with
my
father,
Walt
Kenickie
and
my
uncle
Jim,
it's
a
privilege
to
do
the
invocation
today.
I
had
the
opportunity
to
do
this.
Also
last
year
and
apparently
may
have
went
on
a
little
too
long
because,
as
I
was
walking
up
here
today,
I
heard
someone
begin
praying
without
me.
They
said
Lord
Lord,
not
that
long-winded.
Lady
again,
so
in
a
spirit
of
joy,
let's
pray
together,
Heavenly
Father!
Thank
you
for
this
wonderful
day
of
celebration.
D
You've
given
us
our
hearts
are
so
very
grateful
for
this
time
of
fellowship
to
honor
the
accomplishments
of
our
newest
inductees
into
the
Bay
County
Sports
Hall
of
Fame.
You
have
blessed
us
with
a
love
of
sports
in
our
County
and
a
platform
through
this
banquet
to
recognize
and
celebrate
our
honorees
today.
Thank
you
for
bringing
these
esteemed
athletes
forward.
We
praise
you
as
we
honor
each
for
their
talents
and
gifts.
You
have
given
each
one
of
them
for
their
spirit
of
competition,
their
strong
minds
and
their
ability
to
both
win
and
lose
with
grace.
D
We
thank
you
God
for
the
life
lessons.
You
teach
us
through
our
sports
to
get
back
into
the
game
when
the
outcome
isn't
quite
what
we
had
hoped
for
to
keep
trying
to
keep
loving,
supporting
and
encouraging
each
other
through
challenges,
whether
on
the
field
or
in
life.
God,
please
bless
our
support.
People,
our
village.
Thank
you
for
those
on
the
sidelines
in
the
bleachers
and
at
home,
our
families,
coaches,
assistants,
friends
and
helpers,
who
were
with
our
athletes
and
spirit
as
they
were
in
the
arena
of
competition.
D
Their
names
may
not
be
printed
on
an
award
or
embossed
on
a
plaque,
but
they
are
deeply
imprinted
into
the
heart
and
soul
of
every
athlete.
As
we
move
into
the
ceremony
today,
god
we
thank
you
for
this
meal.
We
share
in
this
time
together
help
us
keep
our
hearts
focused
on
you,
for
your
guidance
direction,
prevail
blessing
as
we
give
you
all
the
things
and
all
the
glory.
We
pray
this
in
the
precious
name
of
your
son,
our
Savior
Jesus
Christ,.
A
Okay
up
next,
do
we
have
the
list
of
the
past
Hall
of
Fame
inductees?
Do
we
have
that
list?
No,
we
don't
okay,
I'm
going
to
introduced
all
our
board
of
directors.
If
I
could
please
if
they
would
just
either
stand
or
raise
their
hand.
Our
president,
our
leader,
who
keeps
all
these
other
fellows
in
lines,
Jenny
Thumb,
Bart,
there's
Jenny
right
back
there,
our
vice
president,
smooth
the
swing
in
Bay
County,
golf
dam,
McEvoy.
A
A
Okay,
we
have
some
past
inductees
with
us
tonight.
So
if
I
call
your
name
out,
please
stand
and
let's
hold
our
applause
off
to
the
very
end.
Aldo
D
I
know
Alice.
Here:
Jeff
Japan,
ski
Tom,
Sullivan,
Danny,
Hayes,
Mike,
gay
Caen,
Bob,
Darby
I,
know
Bob's
here,
where's
Bob
Dobbs
over
in
the
back
dick
sorry
Tom
stasek
times
over
here,
Lea
Thompson.
We
also
lead
in
the
back
art
Nixon.
A
It's
in
the
back,
Rod
Adams,
Mike,
Darby,
Atlanta
Burke
is
that
here
there
he
is
Brad
Walraven,
where's,
Brad,
there's
Brad,
Bonnie,
Kenickie
I,
know
she's.
Here,
I
just
heard
her
John
Pike
no
John's.
Here
too,
hi
Greg
glue
a
key
right
up
here
in
front
Harold,
Holcomb
Jeff,
myzel
where's,
the
old
coach
Jack
Spencer
and
his
family,
sir
Mike
and
Dave
hi,
guys
hojae
conyngham
in
the
back
walking
Nikki's
family.
A
A
E
E
E
E
She
was
a
member
of
the
National
Honor
Society
president
of
the
school's
National
Honor
Society,
vice
president
of
the
de
caƱa,
and
a
rotary
youth
leadership
camp
in
dark,
good
sis
and
in
2017
Marlee
is
currently
attending
Northwood
to
pursue
a
degree
in
business
management
and
she's
on
the
volleyball
team.
So
congratulations,
Marlee.
B
E
All
right,
our
next
recipient
is
Noah
Shaner
from
Bay
City
Western,
you
see
a
his
father
is
standing
off
here
to
my
left
and
you'll
you'll
understand
as
I
go
through
his
presentation.
He
was
a
four-year
participant
in
wrestling.
He
maintained
a
three
point:
seven,
six
GPA.
He
was
a
three-time
state
qualifier
in
wrestling
state
champion
in
the
130
pounds.
Division
one
state
runner-up,
119
pounds
division
two
and
he
placed
third
his
other
year.
He
was
a
three-time
Bay
County
champion.
E
The
only
reason
he
wasn't
a
four-time
is
because
it
got
canceled
right,
I
think
that's
what
it
was.
So
he
would
have
been
a
four-time
champion,
three-time
cycle
valley,
league
champion
and
two-time
academic
all-state.
He
was
MVP
in
the
second
value
week
in
the
2017
he
had
over
200
wins
in
his
career.
The
reason
his
dad
is
here
to
accept
his
award
steve
is
here
tonight
is
as
soon
as
he
graduated.
He
went
off
to
basic
training
and
he
is
currently
at
the
advanced
individual
training
for
the
Michigan
National
Guard
in
Virginia.
E
E
Our
next
winner
is
Trevor
Sutton
from
All
Saints.
He
was
a
three-sport
athlete
participated
in
football,
basketball
and
baseball
maintained
a
three
point:
six
nine
two
GPA.
He
was
a
three-time
golden
helmet
Player
of
the
Week.
He
was
a
golden
helmet
Player
of
the
Year
in
2015
and
was
on
the
Bay
County
Dream
Team
for
football.
For
three
years.
He
was
second
team,
all-conference
basketball.
In
a
two-time,
all-conference
baseball
player.
E
E
Our
next
recipient
is
Emiliano
ski
from
ping
Connie.
She
was
a
two-sport
athlete
participating
in
basketball
and
softball.
She
maintained
a
3.3
GPA.
She
was
first-team
all-state
for
softball
in
2017
in
2016
she
was
honorable
mention
all-state.
She
was
M
life
dream
team
for
three
years
for
softball
in
also
all-conference.
For
three
years
she
was
honorable
mention
for
the
dream:
team,
basketball
and
all-conference
for
basketball.
E
E
Our
final
two
scholarship
recipients
will
be
receiving
an
additional
award
that
$200
additional
from
the
barn,
barn,
Eagle
wiki
Memorial
Scholarship
Fund
Gregg.
Are
you
coming
up?
Okay,
Gregg?
Well,
wiki
is
coming
up
to
give
those
recipients
their
checked
yeah.
This
is
the
third
year
for
the
additional
scholarships
and
families
who
are
instrument
and
must
be
willing
to
commit
to
four
years
with
two
dollars:
two
thousand
dollars
donation
or
to
make
this
possible.
So
the
first
one
from
John
Glenn
is
Kimball
Darby,
a
lot
of
pressure
on
you
Kimball
with
you
grandpa
dad.
E
Obviously
Kimball
was
a
two-sport
participating
in
swimming
and
track.
She
maintained
a
3.5
7
GPA
first-team
all-state
in
the
200
free
relay
in
2016
a
four
year
state
qualifier
in
swimming
for
time,
dream,
team,
recipient
and
swimming,
and
she
was
the
MLive
swimmer
of
the
year
in
2015
and
16.
She
also
was
the
ISC
conference
champion
in
the
Tri
City
champion,
and
she
also
was
the
state
qualifier
in
the
two-mile
run
in
2015
and
was
involved
with
the
track
team.
E
As
far
as
any
emcee
conference
champions
for
three
years,
she
was
also
a
member
of
the
National
Honor
Society
student
council
and
the
chair
of
the
Leadership
Committee
in
2016-17
she's,
currently
attending
Saginaw
Valley
in
his
on
the
swimming
team
in
pursuing
a
degree
in
elementary
education.
Congratulations,
Kimball.
E
E
He
was
honorable
mention
for
the
Saginaw
Valley
League
football
for
two
years.
Second
team
for
Saginaw
Valley
League
for
baseball
and
also
played
in
the
cult
World
Series
in
2015,
and
also
in
the
Pony
League
World
Series
in
2012
and
13.
He
was
basically
Central's
2016
homecoming
king
and
was
the
2017
male
scholar
athlete
of
the
year
for
Bay
City
Central.
He
was
a
member
of
the
National
Honor
Society
volunteer
at
the
doubt,
Family
YMCA
the
base,
a
fireworks
was
about
that.
You
know.
That's
you.
F
E
A
A
A
Well,
what
we're
gonna
do
is
you
guys
are
going
to
go
table
by
table
and
to
pick
the
tables
out
to
start
eating,
so
the
Doubletree
staff
will
come
to
your
table
point
you
in
the
right
direction
on
both
sides
of
the
buffet
line,
enjoy
your
meal
and
we'll
be
back
in
a
little
bit
over
an
hour.
Thank
you.
G
Thank
you
I'd
like
to
welcome
you
all
here
tonight.
This
is
my
my
second
year
as
being
the
president
of
the
Hall
of
Fame
and
I'm
gonna.
Tell
you
last
year
was
pretty
much
a
blur.
We
were
moving
our
display
to
the
DAO
Bay
Area
family,
why
we
were
updating
some
things
and-
and
we
feel
like
we
we've
taken
that
step
and
we
still
got
some
things
to
tweak,
but
we're
getting
there
to
kind
of
modernize.
G
The
Hall
of
Fame
and
I
think
one
thing
I've
learned
over
this
last
year
is
I've
been
involved
with
this.
It's
just
there's
there's
a
great
thing
with
moving
forward,
but
there's
also
a
time
to
reflect
on
and
all
of
the
things
in
the
past
and
I.
Think
this
year
was
really
cool.
Is
to
see
this
big
group
over
here
from
visitation
high
school.
You
know
eight
tables
of
people
here
to
celebrate
this
and
I
thought.
That
was
pretty
awesome.
G
And
there's
there's
obviously
a
great
turnout
here
for
everyone,
but
it's
it's
going
back
and
seeing
those
people
come
together
and
share
those
stories
and
I
think
that
the
common
thing
with
everyone
here
is
there,
there's
always
a
point
where
they
got
involved
in
athletics
and
and
why
sports
are
important
to
them
in
their
life
and
I.
Look
back
when
I
got
involved
with
sports
and
still
making
this
part
of
my
life
today
in
the
career
that
I've
chosen.
G
There
are
so
many
lessons
that
are
bigger
than
wins
and
losses,
and
all
of
these
honors
and
I
think
those
are
some
of
the
stories
that
are
going
to
be
shared
here
today.
So
I'm
just
very
proud
to
be
part
of
this
I'm,
proud
to
see
all
the
greatness.
That's
out
there
and
just
proud
of
how
athletics
brings
this
big
group
of
people
together
on
a
day
like
this.
So
thank
you
for
being
here
and
I'll.
Let
you
get
to
the
regular
part
of
the
program
and
congratulations
to
all
of
our
inductees
this
year.
A
A
Our
first
inductee
tonight
is
our
president
Award
winner,
dick
Cartman
in
2003,
the
Hall
of
Fame
started
the
president's
award,
and
this
award
recognized
this
major
off
the
field.
Contributions
to
the
bay
County
Sports
community,
the
first
recipient
in
2004,
was
OJ
Cunningham,
and
this
year's
recipient
of
the
president
award
is
dick.
Harmon
de
karma
graduated
from
Gaylord
st.
Mary's
go
snowbirds
in
1962.
A
Since
1990
he's
been
the
voice
of
the
warriors
boys
and
girls
basketball
team
and
is
doing
the
same
at
Northwood,
University
Dixon.
He
still
has
a
love
for
the
game
and
in
certain
situation,
he's
always
thinking
of
what
what
to
do.
If
he
was
coaching,
he
has
fun
with
it.
But
no
more,
no
matter
what
wins
or
losses.
A
H
H
Jonathan
Berg
served
on
committees
with
young
enough
times
in
the
school
district
before
I
retired,
and
was
a
pleasure
to
serve
with
her
and
a
great
pleasure
and
honor
to
receive
the
President's
Award.
Also,
congratulations
to
all
the
other
inductees
they're.
Certainly
worthy
people
I
know
an
event
such
as
this
usually
is
a
time-consuming
issue,
but
it's
very
difficult
to
honor
all
those
people
and
do
justice
to
them
without
taking
some
time
like
to
recognize
my
family.
H
That's
here,
my
son,
Joe
in
New
York,
is
not
able
to
be
here
with
his
family,
but
to
my
older
daughter,
Mary
Elizabeth
and
her
daughter.
Isabella
are
here
also
my
daughter
Christie
and
her
husband
Mike.
They
have
a
three-year-old.
We
have
a
three-year-old
granddaughter
with
them
and
as
I
was
thinking
what
I
wanted
to
say,
I
was
thinking.
We
went
to
her
soccer
game
yesterday
of
the
three
year
olds
and
I.
H
Don't
know
if
you've
ever
watched
much
soccer
of
that
age
group,
but
we're
thinking
if
I
was
doing
the
PA
announcement
for
that
soccer
game.
I
would
certainly
have
a
tremendous
time
picking
out
who
picked
the
most
flowers,
which
once
went
the
wrong
way
to
the
wrong
goal,
which
ones
were
crying
the
most
and
had
to
come
over
to
the
sidelines,
and
it
would
really
be
a
treat
to
announce
a
game
such
as
that
and
last
but
not
least,
my
wife
Bonnie
of
52
years.
We
had
our
anniversary
on
9/11.
H
So
if
any
of
you
guys
ever
forget
your
anniversary,
I
certainly
never
will
forget
mine,
coaching
football,
basketball
and
even
track
at
the
intermediate
or
middle
school
level,
and
then
at
Weston
high
school
I
would
be
remiss
if
I
didn't
mention,
particularly
at
the
high
school
levels
of
individuals.
That
I
owe
the
learning
of
sport
a
lot
of
my
learning
of
sports
for
coaching
and
how
to
deal
with
kids
and
coaching
how
you
should
work
at
the
coaching
profession.
Those
would
be
the
head
coaches
that
especially
I've
worked
with
starting
with
Bill
smiling.
H
Dick
searing,
Aldo,
D,
demigod,
Island,
baseball
and
avid
great
pleasure
with
them
lately
with
the
numerous
valley,
titles
and
state
championships
that
they
have
won
and
announcing.
Now
and
last
but
not
least,
they
just
saw
his
picture
go
by
not
too
long
before
the
picture
stopped
of
Jim
banks,
ralph
was
a
Hall
of
Fame
member
and
we
lost
just
a
while
ago.
I
would
remiss
if
I
didn't
mention
him
as
well.
H
There
are
a
number
of
individuals,
kids
that
I've
seen
bill
by
had
in
the
classroom
or
coached
or
since
doing
PA
announcements
for
so
long
have
seen
on
the
court
or
on
the
field
and
what
they've
done
to
go
on
to
have
successful
careers.
Just
like
you
would
see
in
the
teaching
profession
as
well
and
come
back
and
share
those
little
things
with
you.
H
Even
when
I
was
still
coaching
football,
when
the
girls
basketball
season
was
still
in
the
fall,
I
would
get
done
with
football
practice
and
hustle
back
and
announce
the
girls
basketball
games
as
well,
so
I'd
added
a
little
bit
of
time
to
being
gone
with
the
teaching
and
the
coaching
and
the
PA
announcing
I
guess.
That's
mainly
why
my
wife,
Bonnie
and
I've,
been
together
52
years,
because
she
doesn't
have
to
put
up
with
me
a
whole
lot
with
all
the
time
I've
Arnold,
with
those
different
responsibilities.
H
I
have
I
like
to
have
some
fun
announcing
I
know
if
you've
been
at
some
games
before
I.
Do
it
also
even
at
Northwood,
at
the
college
level
at
times,
but
if
you've
been
there,
I
sometimes
go
according
to
the
weather,
and
we
have
times
when
I
announce
all
the
free
blankets
are
gone
on
a
cool
night
and
everybody
looks
along
at
the
box
and
since
you
get
a
blanket,
I
can
get
a
blanket
to
get.
H
Well,
when
I
said,
the
next
thing
we
ran
was
the
counter
and
went
for
about
40
yards
people
are
looking
up
and
saying,
as
he
making
the
calls
up
there
alone.
Obviously,
people
on
the
field
are
saying
who,
in
the
world
announced
that
that
we're
going
to
run
the
counter,
so
they
have
to
be
a
little
bit
careful.
It's
also
a
working
press
box.
So
there's
you
know
supposed
to
be
not
a
lot
of
cheering
and
especially
against
c-double-a
tournament
games.
That
I've
had
the
pleasure
to
officiate
football
and
basketball
at
the
would.
H
So
you
have
to
be
a
little
bit
careful
the
Basketball
Coaches
Hall
of
Fame,
not
the
era
was
abducted
when
but
I've
got
to
meet
some
special
people
and
the
announcing
profession
the
night
it
was
Tommy,
Smith
well-respected
gentleman
in
the
basketball
world.
You
may
know
when
I
was
inducted
at
the
basketball
coaches.
I
always
came
to
me
that
it
must
be
that
I
made
it
because
the
games
I
lost.
H
As
you
know,
the
legendary
coach
at
Michigan
State
and
when
Stan
Gooch
from
Flint
septa
was
inducted,
judge
was
the
keynote
speaker
and
I,
don't
know
if
you
remember
or
not,
but
the
Perry
drugstore
chain
that
used
to
exist.
Most
of
you
I
think
looking
around
many
are
old
enough
to
remember.
The
employees
of
fair
jokester
all
were
read
sport
coats
that
was
their
attire
and
while
they
were
working
well,
a
Floyd
Central
coaching
staff,
also
all
red
wore
red
sport
coats
as
part
of
the
coaching
profession.
H
He,
the
recognized
all
the
other
inductees
and
he'd,
especially
like
to
recognize,
stan
Gooch
and
he'd
like
to
thank
the
parody
drug
star
people
for
being
here
tonight,
to
congratulate
him
also
with
all
those
people
sitting
there
with
red
sport
coats
on
also
kids
for
graphs
in
their
careers
students
having
students
and
kids
of
students
was
special
in
the
classroom,
same
thing
and
coaching
having
see
their
kids
of
players
that
played
for
me
or
that
I've
seen
on
the
court
or
on
the
field.
There
are
several
of
them
and
I
know.
H
H
So
just
one,
the
incident
of
a
Bay
City
student
and
who's
moved
on
to
special
things
that
I
was
able
to
follow,
and
there
are
any
number
of
those
that
we
could
obviously
look
at,
although
not
teaching
anymore
I
love
announcing
and
since
I've
retired,
from
teaching
and
coaching.
It
keeps
me
involved
in
the
game
and
with
kids
and
seeing
many
of
them
go
on
when
I
do
my
first
day
of
school,
I
would
always
put
on
the
board
for
my
students
in
every
class
and
ask
them
a
question
of
a
personal
resume.
H
Having
done
that,
myself
I
would
say,
there's
no
place
that
I
would
have
rather
made
a
career
and
I
certainly
have
benefited
from
being
in
this
community
with
all
the
kids
and
the
people
and
coaches
that
have
coached
against
and
just
people
in
general
I
could
bring
up.
There's
one
of
my
famous
board.
They
are
not
famous,
but
one
of
my
favorite
books.
My
grandmother
gave
me
when
I
first
started
teaching
coaching
it's
a
book
about
the
story
really
kind
of
of
John
Wooden.
H
H
His
answer
was
to
ask
me
why
I
teach
was,
as
he
looked
around
and
remembered
all
the
kids
of
what
they
were
doing
now.
His
answer
was:
where
indeed,
could
I
find
such
splendid
company
and
as
I
look
around
here
and
the
people
I've
worked
with
and
the
kids
I've
seen
and
announced
even
now.
Indeed,
me
too,
where
else
could
I
find
such
splendid
company?
Thank
you.
A
Having
coached
at
Western
basketball
for
two
years,
I
think
I
helped
Stan,
Gooch
and
Marshall
Thomas
and
all
of
them
get
into
the
Basketball
Hall
of
Fame.
If
I
could
in
all
the
individual
inductees
up
to
the
main
table,
please
at
this
time,
if
I
could
get
all
you
guys
up
here,
I
would
be
greatly
appreciated,
so
come
on
up.
A
A
Our
toll-free
said
to
her
that
maybe
she
should
switch
over
to
the
left
hand
side,
so
she
could
become
a
type
of
slap
hitter
and
Beth
never
batted
right-handed
again,
Duke
Klein
stepped
in
it
as
a
starter
at
Saginaw,
Valley
and
still
ranks
among
the
top
three
all-time
for
career
at-bats
hits
runs,
stolen
bases
and
a
350
batting
average.
She
was
named
SBS
SDSU
freshman
of
the
year
in
1988,
and
an
89
SVSU
went
39
and
13
and
won
the
NAIA
championship
played
in
Midland
the
following
year.
A
Sbs
SVSU
moved
two
division
to
where
she
was
a
second
team,
all
GLIAC,
and
she
also
played
for
the
device
builders
and
finished
runner-up
and
the
American
Softball
Association
tournament
in
1989
Beth
awe
a
bath
also
had
some
coaching
in
her
blood
she's
assistant,
at
all
things
for
five
seasons,
head
coach
for
the
Cougars
for
two
two
years
at
Delta
and
coach,
the
MBS
Jets
to
the
16
and
under
world
series
crown.
Ladies
and
gentlemen,
please
welcome
to
the
Bay
County
Sports
Hall
of
Fame.
That's
the
plan.
I
Thank
you
very
much,
I'd
like
to
take
this
opportunity
to
thank
the
Board
of
Directors
and
the
voters
who
have
allowed
me
to
have
this
opportunity
tonight.
That's
a
great
honor,
looking
at
the
names
that
have
been
on
the
board
all
night,
long,
there's
a
lot
of
history
and
a
lot
of
really
good
athletes
that
have
come
out
of
Bay
County
and
that's
a
testament
to
this
area.
I'd
also
like
to
thank
my
family
in
attendance
here
tonight,
my
parents,
Franken
Subban
and
Brooks,
my
husband
Brian,
my
children,
Hannah
and
Tyler,
and
my
aunt
Kiki.
I
My
parents
got
me
started
in
athletics
and
my
dad
ended
up
coaching
me
in
Little
League.
He
had
many
rough
ride
home
after
games
when
I
got
yelled
at
for
something
I'm,
not
sure
what,
but
there
were
some
tense
times,
but
they
helped
build.
Hawaii
became
as
a
person.
I
was
very
fortunate
to
be
able
to
attend
All
Saints
and
have
Brad
Walraven,
as
a
coach.
I
It's
the
information,
the
knowledge,
the
skill
that
they
provided
me
has
led
me
to
be
come
involved
in
athletics
as
a
coach
and
to
be
able
to
coach.
My
daughter
and
I've
found
a
lot
of
pleasure
in
doing
that.
So
once
again,
I'd
like
to
thank
everybody
for
this
opportunity,
it's
really
an
honor
and
a
privilege,
and
thank
you
very
much.
A
A
Engle
Jerry
did
a
lot
of
coaching
at
the
freshman
level,
but
it
wasn't
so
much
about
wins
and
losses
for
Coach
toisan,
but
it
was
really
about
developing
the
players
for
the
varsity
staff
at
the
varsity
level,
coach
toys
and
coached
through
two
through
two
three
different
eras,
coach,
England
coach
over
lemansky
in
linter,
Bush,
coach,
coach
toys
and
son
Mike
said
about
his
daddy.
That
was
that
he
was
tough,
but
he
was
candy
in
the
middle
Jerry.
A
Do
you
started
that
home
plate
down
the
first
base
back
the
home?
You
remember
this.
This
was
brutal,
then
we
were
only
want
10
12
years
old
down
the
first
base
back
to
home
down
the
first
base
back
home
out.
The
second
base
back
home
down
the
first
base,
and
he
kept
doing
that
and
I'll
tell
you
what
we
were
in
shape.
We
were
ready
to
play
and
we
were
really
fully
prepped
because
he
really
did
teach
us
the
fun
fundamentals.
A
J
With
great
iron
ore,
I
accept
this
on
behalf
of
my
father,
which
he
took
all
my
thunder
all
my
speech,
the
the
they've
already
heard
it
my
dad
quotes
about
90
seasons
at
total
and
football
basketball
and
baseball
high
school
and
summer
leagues.
I
would
like
to
say
some
words
that
describe
my
father
that
I
learned
from
him
leader,
honor
caring
positive
one
of
us
saying
this.
J
J
He
got
I
got
it
tell
a
couple
stories
how
he
got
me
into
coaching
one,
nine
days
and
son.
What
are
you
doing
and
I
said
nothing?
He
said
you
want
to
come
out
and
hit
some
fly
balls.
Okay,
so
I
went
out
and
hit
some
fireballs
and
he
asked
me
how
to
practice
she
says:
how'd,
it
go.
I
said
all
right.
The
team's
yours.
J
J
Next
every
name
was
potential
after
the
first
practice,
potential
I,
don't
know
where
it
was
I
had
to
go,
buy
tennis
balls.
We
couldn't
play
catch.
Then,
two
years
later
we
won.
The
league
Jerry
would
like
to
thank
the
following
people:
first,
his
wife
of
over
40
years
males,
second,
his
family
done,
Mike,
Pat
and
tied
grandkids
and
great-grandkids
colleagues,
players,
the
Hall
of
Fame
Committee
and
the
people
that
voted
them
and
thank
you.
A
Thank
You
Mike,
congratulations
coach.
That
was,
that
was
a
heck
of
a
drill.
I
still
have
nightmares
about
that.
Do
remember
that
Pat.
That
was
a
tough
drill.
That
was
that
was
something
special
okay.
Our
next
inductee
into
the
Bay
County
Sports
Hall
of
Fame
Hall
of
Fame,
is
basically
westerns
Carl
brakes,
Bay
City
Western
has
a
very
rich
tradition
in
wrestling.
Carl
Briggs
was
the
first
to
help
build
that
tradition
and
by
winning
the
state
championship
in
wrestling
in
1974.
A
This
is
one
of
many
accomplished
accomplished.
Mints
for
breaks,
Carl
was
a
four-year
letter
winner
at
the
University
of
Michigan,
go
blue.
There
you
go:
go
blue
captain
of
the
U
of
M
team
in
1978
that
team
placed
fourth
in
the
Big
Ten
Wrestling
in
1977.
He
also
had
coach
at
Saginaw
Valley,
where
his
team
was
in
the
top
20
and
produced
three
all
Americans
early
in
Carl's
career.
He
walked
the
halls
of
Bay
City
handy
for
three
years
and
then
Western
opened
up
his
senior
year.
A
Carl
moved
off
the
Western
following
the
legendary
wrestling
coach,
WD,
Bush
coaches
know
how
to
push
my
buttons
and
motivate
me.
He
said
coach
made
me
work
that
hard
to
the
tone
of
a
hundred
and
eighteen
career
wins.
He
continued
with
his
excellence
at
the
University
of
Michigan,
where
he
went
31
and
eight
and
was
the
number
five
ranked
wrestler
in
the
country.
He
helped
launch
the
Saginaw
Valley
State
University
program
with
three
young
Americans
in
the
top
20
ranking
and
making
it
to
the
national
tournament
and
again
building
another
tradition
over
at
Saginaw
Valley.
F
Let
me
begin
by
thanking
the
Hall
of
Fame
members
and
the
board
for
making
this
possible
and,
of
course,
lee
thompson
for
writing
such
an
awesome
article
and
all
my
friends
and
family
that
that
helped
me
to
get
here
today
to
celebrate,
especially
my
high
school
sweetheart.
That
has
been
with
me
on
this
wild
ride
for
more
than
44
years.
I
can
tell
you
being
up
here
in
front
of
this
group,
my
heart's
poundin,
my
stomach
is
doing
flip-flops
and
I'm
beginning
to
perspire
I.
F
Guess
it's
game
time
and
I
love
every
minute
of
this
as
a
sidebar
I'd
like
to
take
a
moment
to
pay
a
compliment
or
a
tribute
of
sorts
to
a
couple
of
inductees,
of
which
I
hold
much
admiration
about
15
years
ago,
was
sitting
in
a
basement
of
a
friend's
house
with
four
other
parents.
I
had
a
vision
of
building
a
state
championship,
caliber
softball
team
and
my
daughter's
high
school
and
freedom
and
freely
to
do
this.
I
suggested
we
use
the
Pinconning
softball
as
our
blueprint,
and
it
kicked
us
off.
I
called
s.
F
Saginaw
Valley
State
softball
coach,
Fred
nearing
to
put
on
her
first
softball
clinic
for
our
girls
and
our
coaches.
Needless
to
say,
after
following
this
plan
and
a
lot
of
time,
energy
and
work,
we
went
on
to
win
two
state
championships
of
our
own
and
many
individual
accolades
and
for
our
team
and
girls.
The
message
here
for
the
young
athletes
that
are
here
today
is
to
reach
your
dreams
and
goals.
You
don't
have
to
reinvent
the
wheel.
Just
surround
yourself
with
great
people
that
have
accomplished
what
you
are
trying
to
a
treat
chief
follow.
F
The
footsteps
of
great
and
great
things
will
happen.
If
you
look
around
you,
obviously
here
in
Bay
County,
you
don't
have
to
look
too
far
for
great
individuals
that
are
ready
and
willing
to
provide
your
guidance.
Thank
you
and
congratulations
to
the
pink
eye,
softball
team
and
Fred
nearing
first
for
setting
the
bar.
Not
only
did
you
achieve
greatness,
but
knowingly
or
unknowingly,
you
brought
others
along
along
with
you
for
the
ride
and
what
a
ride.
It
was
congratulations
to
you,
you
don't
accomplish
getting
to
the
Hall
of
Fame
in
a
vacuum.
F
A
lot
of
people
have
sacrifice,
spend
a
lot
of
time
and
money
for
me
to
be
standing
here
today,
especially
the
13
family
members.
That
I
grew
up
with
you
know
having
10
brothers
and
sisters.
You
learn
a
lot
about
teamwork.
You
see
when
you're
from
such
a
large
family.
Sometimes
you
look
for
ways
to
draw
attention
to
yourself.
You
know
to
stand
out
from
the
crowd,
so
to
speak,
so
I
created
a
scheme
that
would
do
just
that
as
boys.
F
At
any
rate,
he
dressed
me
down
gave
me
a
lesson
on
how
the
family
works
told
me
how
no
one
family
members
more
important
any
other,
and
then,
if
I
wanted
to
join
the
rest
of
the
family
for
dinner,
that
I
best
get
those
trophies
back
to
the
basement
where
they
belong
or
he'd
personally.
Take
matters
into
his
own
hands
and
I
knew
exactly
what
that
meant.
So,
despite
the
spelling
I
guess,
there
is
no
I'
in
family
either.
F
I'd
also
like
to
equally
recognize
my
friends
from
TL
handi
high
school
they're,
also
as
much
a
part
of
me
standing
up
here
as
anybody,
those
team
members
and
friends.
Well,
we
told
a
special
place
in
my
heart
for
helping
me
achieve
my
dreams.
The
decision
to
leave
handy
high
school
and
go
out
to
Western
was
difficult
at
best
and
it
came
down
to
a
decision
of
loyalty
to
a
man
that,
if
not
for
him,
none
of
this
would
have
been
possible.
F
Hall
of
Fame
coach,
Doug,
Rudy
Bush
Rudy,
as
we
called
him,
touched
so
many
lights
on
so
many
different
levels.
Such
a
genius,
motivator
I'll,
never
forget
I
had
a
loss.
The
Dave
Rodriguez
at
Detroit,
Catholic
Central.
His
dad
was
a
coach
of
Russell
for
the
University
of
Michigan,
a
former
Big
Ten
Champion.
He
was
in
the
finals
of
the
tournament.
The
first
period
I
went,
took
him
down
like
a
champ,
but
it
got
too
high
too
rolled
me
through
and
stuck
me
I
was
aghast
embarrassed.
Couldn't
believe
it
anyway.
F
F
Of
course
he
wasn't
trying
to
make
me
feel
better.
He
was
trying
to
make
me
a
state
champion.
He
knew
exactly
what
to
say.
It
drove
me
harder
and
not
to
be
denied
of
my
goals.
I
avenged,
that
lost
in
the
semi-finals
and
went
on
to
win
the
state
championship.
Coach
Roudebush
was
Western
rustling,
so
to
all
my
family,
friends,
wrestlers
and
teachers.
F
A
A
Ladies,
a
pink
diamond
softball
team
in
the
year
2000
had
no
doubt
that
they
would
win
the
state
championship
with
the
great
tradition
in
softball
and
tangos
already
in
1989
1993.
The
ladies
are
ready
to
rock
in
2000,
motivated
by
the
early
accent
in
1999,
the
2000
spartans
and
law.
Great
pitching
stellar
defense
and
incredible,
hitting
the
Lady
Spartans
had
a
very
tough
road
to
the
championship.
Beating
Mount
Pleasant
5,
nothing
in
a
regional
final.
In
the
next
game
they
beat
Gladstone
1
to
nothing
in
the
state
semifinal.
A
They
beat
two
cumson
in
five
and
eight
innings
5
to
1.
In
the
state
championship
game,
the
Spartans
took
a
took
on
defending
state
champs,
Wyoming
Rodgers
and
the
Lady
Spartans
were
positive
that
they
would
win
even
after
seven
full
innings
of
scoreless
softball
step
to
the
plate.
Janney
Maxim
she
took
a
2
2
pitch
and
hit
her
seventh
home
run
the
season.
Well,
past
the
centerfield
fence,
and
that
day
she
also
struck
out
18
batters
was
a
no-hitter
in
the
rest.
A
Is
history
coach,
Dale
Billingsley,
who
had
a
record
of
280
and
46
said
to
the
girls?
If
you
want
to
stand
along
when
they're
practicing
and
watch
buy
a
ticket
and
the
girls
bought
into
that,
they
also
said
that
they
will
never
be
forgotten.
Coach
said
that
this
is
a
very
special
group.
Ladies
and
gentlemen,
please
welcome
coach
Billingsley
in
the
2000
state
championships.
The
pink
on
you
Spartans.
K
Well,
we're
missing
a
few
people
here
tonight
and
we
have
kids
kids.
We
have
young,
ladies
all
over
the
country,
now
there's
pedo,
but
first
of
all,
I
would
like
to
thank
the
committee
for
inducted
into
the
Hall
of
Fame,
and
this
has
been
great
what
an
honor
to
be
here,
amongst
some
of
you,
people
that
have
always
respected
and
thought
wow.
What
great
sports
people
we
have
here
in
Bay
County.
We
like
to
take
a
couple
minutes
and
I
want
to
thank
a
couple.
K
People
first
of
all,
my
wife
of
49
years
have
put
up
with
me
forever.
I
mean
people
that
are
coaches,
know
that
you're
coaching
more
than
just
three
months
out
of
the
years,
almost
a
year
around
project.
So
she
put
up
with
me
I
think
about
a
couple.
Other
people
that
I
was
worked
with
this
tool
were
no
longer
with
us.
Peat
martini
was
one
of
my
assistant
coaches
and
one
of
my
favorite
one
was
my
brother.
K
Bob
was
no
longer
with
us
and
it
was
tough
to
lose
those
two
people,
but
we
thanked
for
their
efforts
that
they
give
to
us
over
the
years.
Getting
into
the
sieve
hear
a
little
bit
about
this
group
of
young
ladies
here
it
was
a
very
special
year
and
it
was
a
very
special
bunch
of
young.
Ladies
and
we
we
had
a
goal
right
from
the
very
beginning
of
the
year
back
then
it
was
at
Battle
Creek.
The
article
was
to
get
the
Battle
Creek
and
I
always
told
the
kids.
K
We
practice
in
April
and
May
and
play
ball
in
June,
and
we
had
a
pretty
good
season
if
we
were
not
to
lose
any
game.
So
we
got
to
be
1
2
3
times
that
year,
but
the
most
important
was
that
seven-game
run
at
the
end
of
the
year
and
boy
what
fun
it
was.
But
I'd
like
to
take
just
a
moment
here
and
introduce
the
kids
I'll
go
through
the
whole
roster
and
the
girls
when
I
call
your
name
off
they're
here.
Just
raise
your
hand,
let
me
know
who
you
are.
K
A
Again
for
all
of
you
that
bought
tickets
50/50
in
the
raffle.
Thank
you
all
that
money
raised
tonight
goes
towards
our
scholarships
for
our
six
Bay
County
student-athletes
every
year,
so
all
of
them
get
a
$750
scholarship.
So
we
appreciate
all
your
hard
work.
Another
thank
you
before
we
continue
on.
I
will
also
like
to
thank
the
doubletree
hotel.
They
always
do
a
great
job
with
us
here
so
I'd
like
to
how
about
a
big
hand
for
the
Doubletree
Hotel.
A
Also,
this
Hall
Fame
banquet
is
being
videoed
tonight
on
Bay
County
TV
it'll
be
on
charter
channel
190
here
in
the
next
few
days.
So
if
you
have
charter,
you
can
look
at
on
charter.
It's
also
Bay
County
youtube.
So
if
you
go
on
YouTube,
you
can
see
all
the
videos
on
Bay
County
TV
that
have
been
archived.
A
A
Basically
Bowling
Association
all-star
squad
26
times
they'll
graduated
from
basically
handy
in
1980,
but
during
his
early
years
him
and
his
buddies
would
walk
out
of
the
teal
handy,
Wildcat
school
walked
down
to
Bay
lanes
and
throw
filled
games.
Dale
began
competing
in
statewide
tournaments
at
the
age
of
14.
When
he
moved
up
into
the
adult
competition.
He
was
in
praise
embraced
by
his
heroes,
such
as
Chuck
Bork
and
Scott
Weston.
He
was
also
the
number
one
name
in
the
Michigan
majors
Bowling
Association,
going
toe-to-toe
with
the
top
bowlers
and
winning
the
title
26
times.
A
Dale
has
had
more
than
a
hundred
and
forty
perfect
games.
Fifty
series
of
800
or
better
in
this
878
series
tied
the
city
record.
His
favorite
highlight,
was
winning
the
team.
All
event
the
US
Open
Championship
in
Reno
in
2010,
and
he
also
teamed
up
with
some
local
talents
down
in
the
team
challenge
in
Hubbard
Ohio.
Ladies
and
gentlemen,
please
welcome
to
the
bay
County
Sports
Hall
of
Fame
Dale
Hofmeister
jr.
L
First
I'd
like
to
congratulate
all
the
inductees
for
that
for
this
year
and
all
the
passing
duckies.
It
doesn't
really
hit
you
until
you
come
in
and
you
see
all
the
all
the
signs
with
everybody's
name
on
in
the
pictures
and
all
their
accomplishments.
It's
it's
really
an
honor
to
be
included
with
that
group
of
people
now
when
I
walked
in
the
door
before
I
got
to
this
part,
I
ran
into
Lee
Thompson
and
he
told
me
that
he
had
a
a
large
office
pool
set
up
to
see.
L
L
Just
a
few
people
I'd
like
to
thank
is
my
parents
getting
me
into
bowling
when
I,
when
I
found
out
how
much
I
really
like
bowling
I
wanted
to
spend
as
much
time
as
I
could
in
the
bowling
alley,
so
I
decided
well
I
could
work
in
a
bowl
Italian
and
spend
all
my
time
in
the
bowling
alley.
So
I
talked
to
Mel
bayit
and
his
wife
Cheryl.
Were
it
taught
me
that
there
was
more
to
bowling
than
bowling
itself?
It
was.
It
was
fun
to
be
in
the
bowling
alley.
L
The
bowlers
you
see
every
day
come
into
Boulder
Lake
to
open
ball.
It's
just
great
to
see
those
people.
Time
and
time
again
it
was
there
that
I
actually
met
my
best
friend
my
wife
Lisa,
who
taught
me
there
was
more
to
life
than
bowling
which
I
didn't
understand
at
the
time,
but
now
that
I
have
kids
on
my
own
and
we
get
to
go
travel
around
and
watch
them
whole
and
and
compete
with
them.
Bowling
is
one
of
those
strange
sports.
L
L
A
See
I
don't
know
if
you
guys
know
that,
but
for
every
minute
you
go
over
five
minutes.
I
lose
my
paid
for
to
the
I,
lose
a
pay
for
the
night,
so
they
take
away
what
I'm
doing
tonight
so
keep
it
under
five
minutes
and
I'll
get
paid
all
of
what
was
it
Oh,
Jake,
French,
rice,
okay,
I,
can
do
that.
Our
next
inductee
to
the
Bay
County
Sports
Hall
of
Fame
is
Howard.
A
Our
football
player
at
Bay,
City
Central
Howard
was
not
the
biggest
player
or
star
on
the
team,
but
he
was
very
successful,
live
Bay,
City
Central
and
at
the
University
of
Michigan
or
a
while,
I
was
pointing
for
the
Chicago
Bears
Howard's
favorite
line
according
to
legendary
coach.
Dick
leach
was
it's
not
the
size
of
the
dog
in
the
fight.
It's
the
size
of
the
fight
in
the
dog,
our
got
his
start
playing
for
the
legendary
coach
at
Bay,
City
Central,
garland
Nevin.
He
also
Leonard
at
Michigan
from
1929
to
1931.
A
He
lined
up
a
long
big
cites
fellow
central
wolf
bill
Hewitt
and
he
helped
the
Wolverines
win
the
Big
Ten
championship.
His
final
two
years
are
also
competed
in
wrestling
gymnastics
and
diving,
while
at
Michigan
that's
an
interesting
combination.
He
was
also
part
of
the
1933
NFL
championship
team
of
the
Chicago
Bears
after
his
playing
days
that
were
over,
he
got
into
coaching
at
fin
central
leaving
the
Indians
to
an
83,
39
and
5
record
for
Saginaw
Valley
lead
state
champ
of
championships
in
the
1947
Class
A
state
championship.
A
A
A
According
to
her
coach,
Gina
Claire
amy
was
just
a
gutsy
type
of
player
she
played
when
she
her
tooth
was
knocked
out
when
I,
pink
Connie
and
when
she
broke
her
finger
while
playing
for
Northwood
Amy
gun
is
out
and
just
kept
right
on
playing
Amy
delivered
many
great
moments
for
many
years
as
a
setter
for
the
Spartans
from
1996
to
1999
with
gear
on
the
court.
For
the
four
years
the
Spartans
went
260
for
41
and
14.
She
helped
lead
the
team
to
four
Northeast
Michigan
and
four
district
titles.
A
Two
regional
championships
in
a
state
runner-up
in
1998
amy
also
led
the
Spartan
basketball
team
to
the
district
championship,
and
she
was
also
named
to
the
dream.
Team
Amy
took
her
volleyball
excellence
to
Northland
rejoin
Hall
of
Fame
coach,
Jeff
Williams.
She
was
named
GLIAC
Freshman
of
the
year
in
99
in
first
team,
oddly,
at
four
straight
years
for
NCAA
tournament,
bursts
three
regional
finals
and
her,
and
the
record
was
111
and
28,
while
at
Saginaw,
Valley
I'm
sorry
North
was
cut.
A
A
M
H
M
Who
knows
me
knows
that
this
era
of
my
life
is
near
and
dear
to
my
heart.
It
is
so
much
to
do
with
Who
I
am
today
and
the
success
that
follows
me.
I
learned
so
much
while
I
was
a
student
athlete
in
high
school
in
college
between
the
ages
of
14
and
22.
The
growth
and
maturity
I
experienced
at
that
time
provided
a
foundation
for
what
life
that
was
going
to
bring
my
way
and,
quite
honestly,
the
life
lesson
since
then.
M
Have
paled
in
comparison
sports
provide
many
opportunities
for
kids
to
learn
lessons
they
will
need
in
their
life.
You
get
to
win,
lose
support,
a
teammate
respect
authority
play
through
pain,
deal
with
situations.
You
don't
see
coming
lose
the
game
for
your
team,
win
the
game
for
your
team.
I
could
go
on
and
on.
You
are
tested
and
faced
with
pressure
to
perform
all
the
time,
but
the
character
you
are
building
through
it
all
the
adversity
you
overcome
what
could
possibly
add
more
value
to
your
life.
It's
powerful.
M
It
was
powerful
to
me,
I
feel
so
blessed
to
have
gone
through
it
at
Pinconning,
high
school
and
in
ray
County
I.
Think
I
would
have
had
the
desire
to
be
a
great
competitor,
no
matter
where
I
lived,
that
is
not
a
quality.
I
can
take
credit
for,
however,
that
intense
competitive
nature,
as
well
as
my
natural,
athletic
abilities
or
gifts
from
God,
and
perhaps
they
were
nurtured,
a
bit
growing
up
as
the
youngest
of
three
siblings,
where
I
fought
to
have
things
go
my
way.
M
What
really
made
this
all
come
together
for
me
was
living
in
this
community
and
having
so
much
support.
Looking
back
I
realized
just
how
special
it
was
to
be
an
athlete
in
an
area
ripe
with
many
talented
coaching
influences.
They
had
passion
for
the
sport.
They
were
coaching
and
pure
dedication
for
their
teams.
Another
influence
from
the
area
from
the
era
were
all
the
parents
and
fans
these
parents
offered
unwavering
support
to
their
child's
teams.
M
I,
remember
the
parents,
friendships
too
I
think
they
had
just
as
much
fun
as
we
did
whether
it
was
bringing
a
separate
cooler
of
beverages
for
the
parking
lot
to
pass
the
time
in
between
matches
or
creating
some
unified
cheers
and
chants
for
great
place,
no
matter
what
it
was,
they
not
only
showed
up
faithfully
but
banded
together
to
provide
perfect
support
for
every
member
of
our
team.
It
was
like
a
huge
family.
Those
parents
create
an
environment
of
love
for
everyone
competing
to
get
out
there
and
give
it
their
all.
That
was
special.
M
My
time
as
the
student
athlete
really
was
much
more
than
what
I
would
have
dreamed,
it
could
be
I
want
to
thank
you,
mom
and
dad
for
supporting
my
dream.
My
sister,
who
put
up
with
me
tagging
along
to
all
her
stuff.
For
me,
the
resilient,
confident
person
I
am
today
is
largely
due
to
the
lessons
I
learned
through
my
experiences
with
my
teams
on
and
off
the
court.
M
Those
experiences
wouldn't
have
been
the
same
without
the
coaches,
parents,
families,
fans
and
community
standing
behind
us
supporting
us
because
of
all
that
today,
I
stand
here
as
a
better
wife,
a
better
parent,
a
better
employee
and
a
butter.
A
lot
of
things.
Thank
you
so
much
for
this
great
honor,
Bay
County
I'm,
truly
grateful.
A
Bob
all
we
doing
on
time
good
thumbs
up.
Okay,
our
next
inductee
is
softball
coach,
Fred
nearing
federally
bleed
that
softball
could
lead
to
many
great
things
and
that
could
open
up
a
lot
of
doors
for
his
players.
Fred
served
as
a
mentor
to
more
than
70
college
ball
players,
fretless
coached
into
coaching
by
his
daughter
Ashley
at
the
Essex
Phil
Hampton
Little
League.
He
turned
them
into
a
powerhouse
one
in
three
state
championships
in
the
1988
senior
league
all-stars
to
a
third-place
finish
in
the
world
series.
A
Fred
teamed
up
with
Hall
of
Fame
coach
Brad
Walraven
to
these
to
turn
the
16
and
18
under
tunes
into
powerhouses,
aasa
championships
and
many
college
ball
players.
Fred
OTT
was
also
an
assistant
on
the
state
championship
teams
at
Pinconning,
USA
and
health
All
Saints
to
a
state
runner-up
in
1996,
and
his
classic
teams
went
four
straight.
A
s.
A
titles
from
92
to
1995
Fred
helped
six
dozen
players
play
at
the
college
level,
including
12
division,
1
players.
A
N
Sitting
here
wondering
if
I'm
going
to
be
tall
enough
to
see
over
this
bouquet
of
flowers,
but
I
guess
we'll
make
it
all
right.
I
really
would
like
to
thank
the
Hall
of
Ember,
a
Hall
of
Fame,
our
committee
for
your
taking
the
time
to
review
all
of
the
letters
of
recommendation
that
were
written
on.
My
behalf.
I
also
would
like
to
thank
Bob,
Stewart
and
Jill
the
parties
for
gathering
all
these
letters
of
recommendation
and
submitting
them
to
the
Hall
of
Fame,
a
committee
for
review.
N
There
are
so
many
friends
and
family
here
tonight,
Judy
my
daughter,
Ashley
and
I
want
to
thank
you
very
much
for
being
here.
I
appreciate
it
very
much.
I
would
like
to
acknowledge
the
fellows
from
the
fastpitch
golf
league
for
your
support
and
also
for
your
friendship
and
mostly
for
your
entertainment
that
you
provide
on
thursdays
and
my
good
friend,
Greenhut
mary.
N
I
sure
glad
you're
here
just
this
past
week,
I
was
talking
with
an
individual
and
he
asked
me
when
did
I
first
have
that
interest
in
sports
and
I
said
that
I
could
remember
playing
catch
with
my
dad
when
Roosevelt
was
president
and
without
hesitation.
He
looked
right
at
me
and
he
said
Teddy
or
Franklin,
so
he
aborted
theirs.
When
you
get
older
there
just
isn't
any
respect.
N
One
of
the
first
letters
of
recommendation
that
I
received
came
from
a
former
president
of
the
Hall
of
Fame
Committee,
and
what
I
appreciated
most
about
his
letter
was
that
he
didn't
mention
anything
about
wins
on
the
softball
field.
He
spoke
of
the
effort
to
help
girls
get
to
the
next
level
and
the
importance
of
attaining
a
college
degree
Jennie
Hayes.
Thank
you
very
much.
N
N
Was
so
fortunate
to
come
along
at
a
time
when
there
were
so
many
bright,
intelligent
young?
Ladies
who
happen
to
be
very
good
softball
players
and
it
helped
us
when
Brad
war
even
and
myself
started
the
Bay,
City
classics
organization
and
our
express
purpose
was
to
give
the
girls
a
center
stage
and
give
them
the
exposure
they
needed
to
get
to
the
next
level
and
I
feel
very
proud
about
the
fact
that
we
were
very
successful
at
doing
just
that.
N
It
was
not
uncommon
to
have
six
or
seven
college
coaches
here
at
our
Bay
City
Tournament.
What
made
our
organization
run
so
smoothly
is
that
we
had
parents
at
the
time
who
knew
and
understood
the
game,
unlike
some
of
the
antics
that
you
see
today,
with
parents
living
their
dream
through
their
daughters
on
the
softball
field,
I
appreciate
it
very
much
everything
that
they
did
in
fact,
one
night
at
a
bass,
City
tournament.
They
stayed
overnight
to
make
sure
the
fields
were
gonna
be
ready
for
morning
and
that
nobody
mess
with
our
concession
stand.
N
I
was
very
excited
at
the
time
that
I
was
offered
the
softball
coaching
position
at
Saginaw
Valley,
but
I
found
out
in
a
hurry
that
coaching
was
going
to
be
about
40
percent
of
the
job.
All
the
other
things
that
you
had
to
do
was
just
remind
boggling.
I
can
tell
you
right
now
that
if
they
poured
gasoline
on
me,
I
would
not
have
burned
at
that
time.
I
was
so
green.
That's
just
the
way
it
went
well
as
you
move
on
coaching
at
Saginaw.
Valley
was
a
very
rewarding
experience.
N
Thank
you
for
your
indulgence
and
I
hope
that
you've
had
a
wonderful
evening.
One
quick
thing.
There
were
two,
ladies,
that
I
recall
that
played
the
game
of
softball
for
over
50
years,
Mary
got
sick
and
just
before
she
died,
she
told
her
friend
and
I
hope
that
they
have
softball
in
heaven
and
a
few
days
later
she
heard
this
voice
and-
and
it's
me
Mary-
wake
up.
Wake
up.
I've
got
good
news,
they
have
softball
in
heaven
and
she
said
in
one
other
news:
do
you
have
for
me?
A
Okay.
Our
second
team
tonight,
that's
going
into
the
class
of
2017
is
the
1965
visitation,
undefeated
football
team.
Nine
and
all
Valley
propio
lead
record
champions
and
they
were
number
ten
in
the
state
in
class
D
and
C
head
coach
for
the
Panthers.
At
the
time
you
might
know
this
gentleman
was
Wayne.
A
Fonts
big-time
coach
in
the
making
Fox
had
a
great
career
at
Michigan,
State
University
and
spent
one
season
with
the
New
York
Titans
in
the
NFL
in
1964,
the
Panthers
went,
went
to
a
5
&
2
&
1
record,
but
in
1965
they
went
undefeated.
Then
they
did
it
with
220
pound
bruising
fullback
time
so
cognac,
all-state,
lineman,
Keith,
bulk
and
speedsters
Dan
Morgan
and
dangar
Villa.
The
discipline
on
the
team
was
extraordinary.
A
Shirts
ties
single
file
from
class
to
class
sister
Mary
Kathleen
in
the
hallway.
I
know
what
you
guy
know:
what
you're
going
through
I
thirteen
years
of
Catholic
education
I
know
exactly
I
have
a
sister
Kathleen
discipline
was
huge
for
fonts
and
his
assistants,
Rex
Bowman
Stu
Gillard,
dick
Manor
and
John
fern
years
that
year
the
Panthers
only
returned
five
starters
in
1965,
but
they
were
a
closed
group
and
alone.
Only
thirty
four
point:
eight
yards
per
game.
A
F
O
You
everybody
thank
the
council
for
actually
having
this
for
us
and
including
us
in
the
Hall
of
Fame
I
know
I.
We
talked
to
Wayne
fountas
and
we
wanted
him
to
come
and
he's
got
some
health
issues
and
he
hasn't
been
flying
for
a
couple
of
years,
but
he
did
write
a
statement
that
I
want
to
read
and
he
said
when
I
when
he
gave
it
to
me.
He
said
he
the
way
he
always
coached.
O
If
he
wanted
to
make
a
point,
he'd
say
your
last
name
and
he
on
the
phone
he
said:
vote,
don't
ad-lib,
don't
ad-lib,
I
I
said:
okay,
coach,
okay,
coach
and
Here
I
am
69
years
old,
being
coached
again,
but
I
want
to
read
what
he
said.
Kind
of
conclude
him
in
the
conversation,
because
he
was
much
he
as
much
of
the
reason
why
we're
here
and
he
said
hello,
team,
I'm.
Sorry
I
cannot
be
there
with
you
for
this
tremendous
honor
that
this
team
is
about
to
receive.
That
I
was
part
of.
O
In
fact,
it
was
all
of
me
flat
lots
of
laughs.
You
know
you
guys
were
a
bunch
of
ragtag
kids
when
I
first
met
you
at
our
first
meeting
to
meet
that
new
head
coach
at
Bay,
City,
visitation,
I,
remember
telling
the
school
then
I
would
meet
up
with
my
the
hook.
Football
team
at
the
school
at
7
p.m.
I
also
remember,
standing
in
front
of
the
classroom
at
7
p.m.
and
players
were
still
coming
in.
O
If
you
guys
recall,
I
got
up
shut
the
door
and
said
the
meeting
is
at
7
o'clock,
not
701
7:05,
not
17,
I
seven
o'clock,
and
then
I
said
in
fact
I
call
it
a
specific
meeting
for
a
specific
time.
Whenever
I
walk
in
the
room.
That
is
the
time
for
the
meeting
so
be
there
in
your
seats
early
and
some
of
us
remember
that
some
of
us
don't,
but
it
happened,
and
he
said
I
remember
one
of
my
assistants.
O
I
remember
the
first
game
we
played
at
home
and
before
we
were
to
go,
take
the
field.
You
guys
said.
If
you
could
go
to
that,
we
could
go
to
the
grotto.
I
said:
go
ahead,
we
need
all
the
help
that
we
can
get
and
we'd
be
our
biggest
winning
football
games
became
easy
for
us
with
God
on
our
side.
The
toughest
thing
we
had
to
do
was
get
by
the
sisters,
though,
that
is
why
I
went
to
the
grotto
one
day.
O
I
was
sitting
in
the
principal's
office
talking
to
the
principal
and
my
quarterback
was
sent
down
to
the
office
for
disciplinary
actions
and
she
asked
him
he
what
why
he
was
there
before
he
had
a
chance
to
say
she
hit
him
with
a
slap
and
his
glasses
went
flying
across
the
room.
He
looked
at
me
for
some
help.
I
just
I
told.
Never
he
didn't
say
a
word.
He
said,
I
never
told
you
the
eyes
of
this,
but
when
he
left
the
room,
I
could
say
nothing.
O
I
was
afraid
to
my
fondest
memories
was
not
only
winning
not
only
winning,
but
how
you
all
guys
all
conducted
yourselves.
The
sisters
of
the
school
fell
in
love
with
our
team.
Remember
they
used
to
watch
the
game
from
the
windowless.
They
couldn't
go
to
the
games,
but
they
watched
them
from
the
windows
of
the
school.
The
Monsignor
asked
me
if
he
could
go
and
watch
practice
one
day
and
I
told
them
it
was
his
team.
He
could
do
whatever
he
wanted.
He
loved
his
football
team.
O
I
could
go
on
and
on
about
practicing
all
summer
in
the
gym.
I
could
go
on
and
on
about
running
wind
sprints
after
practice
with
my
dog,
but
most
of
all
I
want
to
thank
a
ragtag
bunch
of
boys
that
became
men
overnight
and
if
I
had
any
success
in
my
career,
I
owe
it
to
the
men
of
Bay
City
vegetation
football
team.
Ps
I
was
truly
petrified
of
the
sisters
weight.
O
O
It
was
a
wonderful
experience
and
I
want
to
introduce
the
the
team
members,
but
first
I
just
want
to
acknowledge
that
a
great
team
also
has
a
great
community
behind
it,
and
we've
got
a
ton
of
people
who
were
in
our
class
or
and
we're
there
to
support
us.
You
know
through
the
years
and
we've
stayed
in
touch
for
52
years.
O
O
Now
this
like
to
introduce
the
team
and
I'm
going
to
start
I've
got
a
list.
So
if
your
name
is
on
the
list-
and
you
hear
your
name-
raise
your
hand-
okay,
guy
periodic,
senator
senator
guy
period,
I
didn't
see
it.
I
know
it
so
I'm
gonna
name
a
few
of
the
like
the
running
backs
and
they
were
big.
They
were
bigger
than
our
linemen,
so
Dennis
Mahoney
raise
your
hand.
O
Mike
tarkovsky
great
yep
danke
can
we
have
some
people
who
aren't
with
us
any
longer
and
really
what's
really
cool
is
that
they've
had
family
members
come
with
here
and
Dan
Gabriella
is
deceased
and
passed
away,
but
his
mom
who's
95
years
old
has
come
to
to
be
here
tonight
as
his
brother,
his
wife
and
and
it's
a
child.
So
it's
really
awesome:
Tom
sokovia,
runningback,
Tom,
sokovia,
Mic,
Check
right,
look
at
Mic,
Check
right,
okay,
thank
you!
O
O
Don
Morgan
another
running
back
Rick
Walter
green
mark
Peter,
Moe
Vicky's,
here,
Rob
Neely,
not
here,
Mike,
Rivard,
okay,
Mike!
Thank
you
I'll,
add
Gabriela
yeah
teri
do
Bay!
So
he's
not
here.
Darryl
rebab
yeah,
dick
Blanc
he's
not
here.
Mark
Yulin
is
passed
away
in
his
oh
there's
marks
for
my
wife.
O
Sisters
here,
yeah,
Bob
McFarland
at
rest,
now
skis
not
here.
Mark
Dube
Mike
had
Jim
Farland
he's
right
there.
Okay,
great,
thank
you.
Butch
Strozier
is
also
as
passed
and
he's
not
with
us,
but
he's
part
of
the
team.
Tom
Miller
is
not
here
bill
Hodgkinson,
not
here,
and
then
we
have
a
coaches,
the
people
that
worked
with
Wayne
to
develop
our
team,
John
Malone,
John
Krueger,
yes,
Rex
Bowman
is
passed
and
he's
no
longer
with
us,
dick
Manor,
yep
Steve
killer
and
that's
that's
it,
and
so
this
is
our
team.
Thank
you.
Thank
you.
O
A
A
He
was
a
tough
nose
football
player
and
coach
who
never
backed
away
from
a
challenge.
The
1983
basis
of
the
All
Saints
graduate
has
made
his
way
up
the
coaching
ranks
over
the
last
28
years.
Tj
has
had
the
opportunity
to
coach
at
nine
universities,
including
Alabama
Michigan
Indiana
Connecticut,
and
he
was
the
interim
head
coach
for
eight
games
at
Western
Kentucky,
and
he
was
also
the
cot
one
of
the
coaches
when
they
won
needed.
A
One
double
a
national
championship
in
2002
TJ
was
a
three
ports:
three
sports
star
and
All
Saints,
but
whether
you
wanted
to
go
to
Alabama,
he
had
to
sell
his
car.
So
he
had
enough
money
to
go
down
there
by
the
end
of
the
senior
year
at
Alabama.
He
was
the
lone
walk-on
remaining
of
the
40.
That's
right
now
in
the
end
of
varsity
letter,
and
he
was
also
a
graduate
assistant
on
the
staff.
His
next
stop
was
Michigan
working
under
Gary
Moeller
and
also
working
with
Heisman
Trophy
winner
Desmond
Howard.
A
He
also
coached
at
Southern,
Illinois,
Tulsa,
Indiana,
Cincinnati,
Connecticut
and
he's
also
the
offensive
coordinator
Connecticut.
He
also
worked
for
Jim
Harbaugh
as
an
offensive
analyst
in
2016,
and
he
was
the
offensive
coordinator
at
South
Florida.
He
up
saw
Florida
the
best
C's
in
the
program
history
and
he
was
the
head
coach
for
South
Florida
when
they
beat
South
Carolina
and
the
Birmingham
Bowl
46
39.
Ladies
and
gentlemen,
please
welcome
TJ
Wiese
to
the
bay
County
Sports
Hall
of
Fame.
P
You
know
getting
ready
for
this
talk
and
what
it's
meant
to
me
influencing
me
in
coaching
coaching,
young
athletes
being
a
part
of
a
team.
Everything
that's
been
involved.
I
have
to
thank
my
family
for
being
here,
my
mother
and
father
Dan
and
Mary
Lou,
a
great
inspiration
to
me,
my
brothers
and
sisters,
my
teammates
at
All
Saints
and
st.
James
that
have
been
loyal
through
the
years
and
followed
me
all
the
way
through
here
tonight.
P
Any
athletes
that
come
up
to
me
I
mean
we're
all
in
sports
in
some
way.
So
it's
inspired
all
of
us.
But
it's
about
that
inspiration.
Sure
it's
about
the
teamwork
and
everything
that
that
makes
us
good
people
and
good
parents
and
and
good
husbands
and
wives
and
all
those
things
all
those
values
that
the
game
teaches
us.
P
You
know
the
coaches,
that
coached
me,
whether
it's
coach
toys
Anand
and
in
North
East,
or
whether
it's
coach
paisan
at
Bass
City
and
you
know,
and
Lefty
and
all
and
and
coach
Kenickie,
and
all
the
all,
the
coaches
that
have
had
an
influence
on
me
and
all
the
players
and
all
the
names
that
come
to
my
mind
when
I
was
little.
You
know
when
I
was
playing
ball
at
st.
stands
when
I
was
playing
down
at
the
courts,
not
at
st.
stands.
P
You
know
all
day
long
when
I
was
down
in
the
First
Ward
playing
basketball
playing
street
football
playing
baseball
in
any
field,
you
could
find
any
patch
of
grass
or
cement
or
a
wall,
and
kids
don't
do
that
today.
They
just
don't
do
that.
You
know
I
got
a
nine
year
old,
I,
can't
let
him
out
to
across
the
street
without
watching
number
or
thinking
I'm
gonna
go
to
jail
because
he's
walking
to
school
three
blocks
away.
P
So
if
the
kids
today
miss
that
they
don't
get
there,
they
don't
get
what
we
got
of
what
we
attained
from
just
playing
ball,
just
going
out
with
our
friends
and
and
learn
how
to
compete,
learning,
how
to
win
learning,
how
to
be
a
good
teammate
learning
that
elements
of
the
game.
So
what
I
take
away
from
what
I
learned
and
what
I'm
trying
to
teach
and
inspire
my
my
players,
my
teams
and
what
I'm
about
to
do
from
Bay
City
is
toughness,
is
competitiveness
and
is
a
deep
pride
in
sports.
P
A
deep
pride
I
see
it
today.
I
see
it
I
think
about
it
when
when
I
grew
up
and
was
here
for
19
years
and
just
think
about
the
lessons,
I
and
and
what
it
meant
to
me,
what
it
means
to
me
today,
seeing
all
these
athletes
seeing
these
coaches,
seeing
everybody
here
for
sports
and
just
thinking
back
of
the
inspiration
that
I
have
that
I
had
as
a
player
at
All,
Saints
and
st.
James
and
Alabama
and
for
35
years
I'd,
say,
haven't
thought
about
it.
P
P
And
you
know
one
of
the
stories
leave
put
the
story
was
you
know,
I
go
to
Alabama
and
I'd.
Never
really
been
grew
up
here.
My
whole
life
but
I
didn't
know
al
I,
don't
know
Alabama
and
the
heroes
that
we
we
see
on
TV,
whether
it's
don't
name
it
Kareem
abdul-jabbar
of
Jabbar,
even
the
coaches,
those
icons.
You
know
Michael
Jordan,
those
are
heroes
to
to
players,
but
they're
they're
unattainable.
You
don't
know
them,
you
might
know
their
story,
but
they're
not
living
next
door.
P
They're,
not
friends
to
you,
they're
they're
like
out
there,
but
you
when
you're
growing
up
as
a
player,
you
hear
about
players
and
their
stories
and
they're
in
your
neighborhood
they're
on
your
team's.
They
played
at
your
schools
and
they're
real
to
you
and
they
inspire
you
because
you
see
their
success
and
that
was
the
difference.
Then
I
go
to
Alabama
and
it's
a
Saturday.
It's
my
freshman
year
and
I.
P
This
is
Alabama.
This
is
what
Alabama
is
supposed
to
be
and
yeah
Joe
name
is
supposed
to
be
here.
You
know
it's
not
kind
of
unattainable,
but
as
I've
grown
I've
met
him
a
couple
times
talk
to
him.
It's
become
more
real
to
me,
but
it
brought
me
bring
meas
brings
me
back
to
the
real
people
in
this
room,
the
real
people
that
influence
you,
the
real
people
that
mean
something
to
you
and
inspire
you
and
there's
kids
in
this
room.
P
P
Not
just
football
I've
been
biased
to
football,
a
little
bit
through
my
life,
but
I
start
to
think
about
the
sports
teams
that
have
meant
something
to
me,
even
though
it's
just
the
icons
here,
whether
it's
speed
skating
or
the
baseball
or
the
football,
the
basketball,
the
All,
Saints,
basketball
teams.
You
know
it's,
it's
been,
it's
been
great
for
me,
but
tonight
really
solidifies
what
it
means
to
me.
So
thank
you.
I,
thank
everybody
and
I
really
appreciate.
It
means
a
lot
to
get
this
honor.
Thank
you.
