E
God,
we
ask
you
to
send
your
blessings
upon
us
and
every
man
and
woman
in
our
armed
forces
that
make
that
these
types
of
events
possible,
that
we
can
come
together
as
a
free
nation
and
as
we
get
ready
to
light
this
tree.
May
you
remind
us
of
the
tree
of
glory
in
which
Christ
accomplished
his
goal
that
the
joy
of
Christmas
may
always
be
in
our
homes
and
hearts
of
the
people
of
this
great
nation
and
our
city
Lord
our
God.
We
praise
you
for
the
light
of
creation.
E
A
One
veteran
recently
related
to
me
a
story
of
his
standing:
a
watch
and
a
small
post
near
denying
on
December
24th
1971,
his
commanding
officer
and
two
others
in
this
small
detachment.
I
had
the
opportunity
to
go
to
a
Bob
Hope
USO
show
he
was
able
to
listen
to
the
broadcast
on
a
radio,
and
he
recalls
that
the
finale
was
the
singing
of
silent
night
and
he
stated
he
felt
lost
alone
and
never
felt
so
down
in
his
life.
A
Truth
be
told
if
I
had
the
option
to
choose
between
the
memory
of
a
stage
show
and
standing
here
in
the
shadow
of
this
beautiful
tree,
which
we
are
about
to
allow
to
illuminate
the
entire
battery
park.
I
would
choose
the
opportunity
to
stand
here
and
help
celebrate
the
Christmas
tree
lighting
for
battery
park
here
in
Bay
City.
But
if
you
understand
the
history
of
battery
park,
it
represents
more
than
just
lighting
a
tree.
It
represents
casting
a
beacon
of
remembrance
across
the
ages.
A
Now
you
wouldn't
think
it
would
take
a
community
to
light
a
Christmas
tree,
but
indeed
it
has
and
I'm
going
to
identify
some
of
the
committee
members
from
the
bay
veterans
foundation,
who
have
been
instrumental
in
making
this
possible
Gavin
gets
for
AT&T
Mike
burgundy
from
the
American
Legion
Keith
markstrom,
who
they'd
be
able
to
join
us
tonight.
Dave
Rogers,
Dave
Bledsoe
and
by
the
way
his
daughter
Julie,
is
responsible
for
several
months
work
on
a
kiosk
display
across
the
street
that
features
Christmas
scenes
and
stories
from
world
war.
A
One
and
myself
special
thanks
to
Vern
Koch,
who
donated
the
tree
from
his
front
yard.
The
davey
tree
service
for
cutting
it
down,
Todd,
denim
bait
city
power
in
life
for
enjoying
the
whole
and
getting
us
the
power
supply,
Jeff's,
wattala
and
Dan
Elliott
for
the
light
installation,
the
USS
Edson
Mike
kegley
for
the
sound
system,
a
legion
post
18
for
the
refreshments
patty
Dixon.
Isn't
she
wonderful
so
far
were
going
to
look
like
we're
going
to
really
rock
it
here
tonight?
Okay
enough.
A
B
D
Thanks
Tim,
hello,
everybody
thank
you
for
coming
out.
This
is
this
is
great
to
see
everybody
out
here,
I'm
so
happy
to
be
here
from
ATT
being
a
local
Bay,
City
guy
myself,
and
to
see
the
resurgence
of
battery
park.
I,
remember
driving
through
this
park
and
have
my
parents
take
me
through
here
when
I
was
young
and
to
see
the
resurgence
of
this
park
itself
is
just
really
exciting
and
I'm
happy
to
have
have
AT&T
to
be
a
part
of
it
and
happy
to
be
here
with
you
today.
D
So
with
that
thanks
again
for
coming,
please
enjoy
a
lot
of
hot
cocoa
and
and
cookies
to
make
sure
you
stay
warm.
Thank
you
to
everyone.
Who's
made
it
out
tonight
on
this
cold
night,
thanks
to
all
of
our
friends
and
our
elected
officials
that
are
here
tonight
and
going
to
be
a
part
of
this
in
this
tree
lighting
in
just
a
moment,
but
thanks
again
for
everyone
to
come
out
appreciate
it.
A
A
F
We
have
three
minutes
to
speak,
so
I'll
be
really
breathe.
It's
kind
of
cold
out.
I
want
to
wish
you
all
happy
thanksgiving
and
welcome
to
this
beautiful
Battery
Park
years
ago
and
I
might
be
giving
away
my
age,
but
we
used
to
have
the
tree
lighting
here
to
cross
the
way
by
sneaky
petes
and
fishes
wallpaper
and
paint.
So
there's
a
lot
of
good
memories
to
yourself.
Enjoy
your
holiday
season.
I'll
turn
it
over
to
you
guys
all.

G
A
few
months
ago
and
Don
carlyon,
an
old
boss,
called
and
said,
I
need
a
favor
and
I
said
what
do
you
need
now
and
he
brought
out
the
idea
of
regenerating
Battery
Park
and
what
it
was
going
to
take,
and
fortunately
we
were
as
County
able
to
help
furnish
a
lot
of
Labor
and
a
lot
of
love.
And
here
we
have
an
awesome
entrance
in
the
bay
county
by
county,
is
live
and
well
and
we're
looking
towards
the
future.
Charlie.
G
H
Yeah,
we
would
have
been
out
here
in
shorts,
but
you
know:
hey
it's
Michigan
and
what
a
great
night
in
Michigan
you
know
I
a
lot
of
thanks.
You
can't
thank
those
folks
enough
that
donate
their
time,
their
effort,
you
know
Don
Carlyon
and
Keith
Markstrom
and
Dave
Bledsoe-
was
telling
me
about
the
things
they
did
and
the
folks
that
did
the
cannons
and
I
know
I'm
leaving
a
lot
of
people
out.
But
there
are
a
lot
of
people
that
it
takes
to
put
this
together.
H
If
the
park
was
I,
did
a
little
little
research
I
read
one
of
Dave
Rogers
articles
on
our
Dave's
here,
but
it's
about
150
years
and
it's
great
to
see
the
resurgence.
You
know
they
thought
to
put
this
park
together
to
honor
our
veterans,
then
and
I,
don't
think
we
can
ever
stop
honoring
the
folks
that
make
it
possible
for
us
to
have
a
nice
night
like
this
and
in
a
couple
days
we're
going
to
be
spending
time
with
our
families.
It's
a
peaceful
time
in
the
country,
but
certainly
we
have
to
be
ever
vigilant.

I

B
Okay,
now
I
want
you
to
know
that
the
sweet
adelines
of
tri-city
were
invited
to
come
here
and
we
are
very
busy
for
our
Christmas
program.
If
you
would
just
mentally
say
to
yourself
December
10
at
the
state
theater
at
three
o'clock,
the
sweet
adelines
will
be
singing
Christmas
and
we're
singing
with
the
barber
shop.
Harbor
sounds
men's
group.
You
would
love
us
if
you
thought
we
had
a
good
time
tonight
and
we
have
some
singing
when
we
asked
you
in
the
audience
to
sing
with
us.
