Winter is coming and Bear can’t sleep. Oh how he rumbles and grumbles, and growls and howls! “That bear sounds angry!” cry the animals. “What if he comes after us?” But Patch the Hare isn’t scared of any old bear and soon he has a brilliant idea!

Children will love following Patch’s adorably madcap schemes in this gently humorous tale told by Broadstone Library staff.

A touching story of an independent-minded wolf cub who finds his way home.
Wolf cub Wilf doesn't want help from anyone. Whatever it is, he can do it all by himself. But when he finds himself lost and alone in the chill of the Arctic night, Wilf discovers that sometimes we all need the helping hand of a friend.

You might think a book with no pictures seems boring and serious. Except . . . here’s how books work. Everything written on the page has to be said by the person reading it aloud. Even if the words say . . .

BLORK. Or BLUURF.

Even if the words are a preposterous song about eating ants for breakfast, or just a list of astonishingly goofy sounds like BLAGGITY BLAGGITY and GLIBBITY GLOBBITY.

Cleverly irreverent and irresistibly silly, listen to Ian read ‘The Book with No Pictures’ in today’s BCP Libraries Storytime.

Jessica finds a special Teddy storytime taking place in a hidden corner of the house. Snuggle up and listen in to the classic story of the magic porridge pot...

Jump into the joy of books and reading during Libraries Week. BCP Libraries are open for you to visit and borrow books and our staff are having fun reading all sorts of stories in unusual places. You can take reading anywhere to enjoy it. Why not read at the beach, up a tree or on the floor to your pet? Why not ask a grown up family member to share a photo of your reading adventure?

Libraries Week is a week-long celebration of the nation’s much-loved libraries, with a focus in 2020 on celebrating books and reading and the role of libraries in the UK’s book culutre. Organised by CILIP, the library and information association, and supported by partners including Arts Council England, The Reading Agency, Libraries Connected, the Leadership for Libraries Taskforce and the School Libraries Association.
