address
the

a

three

on

will
be
limited
to
30

If
you

A
A
A
I
could
use
your
help
here.
Okay,
do
we
have
any
actions.
D
I
moved
that
the
board
approved
settlement
authority
and
the
pending
workers
compensation
case
in
the
amount
of
ninety
three
thousand
one
hundred
seventy
nine
dollars.
Eighty
one
cents.
C
E
I'd
like
to
pull
the
final
approval
of
gc
2.15
for
adoption
and
put
that
under
the
policy
committee
report.
That's
if
anybody
wants
me
to
explain
why
that's
the
item,
that's
in
regard
to
the
amendment
of
policies,
and
I
think
it
would
make
more
sense
if
we
approve
that
and
then
move
into
the
remainder
of
the
items
under
the
policy
committee
report.
D
A
B
B
No
because
we
haven't
approved
the
agenda
yet:
okay,.
A
I
don't
think
there's
going
to
be
a
big
brew,
you
move
away.
E
Okay,
thank
you.
I'd
like
to
amend
the
agenda
to
move
the
approval
of
gc
2.15
for
adoption
under
the
policy
committee
report.
G
A
H
I
Thank
you,
chairman
schrubinger,
this
evening
under
point
of
celebration.
We
want
to
take
a
moment
and
recognize
a
few
recognitions
that
are
or
have
happened
within
our
system
and
the
first
one
of
those
is
the
beaufort
county.
School
district
was
awarded
the
certificate
of
achievement
for
excellence
in
financial
reporting.
I
I
I
want
to
congratulate
our
finance
staff,
particularly
our
chief
finance
officer,
ms
tanya
crosby
financial
services
officer,
mr
reggie
murphy,
director
of
budget
and
procurement,
is
jennifer
hamblin,
our
director
of
finance,
lori,
mock
and
budget
analyst
louis
ackerman,
as
well
as
everybody
else
in
that
team.
To
win
this
award
in
any
year
is
an
outstanding
accomplishment,
but
to
win
it
for
32
consecutive
years
is
truly
remarkable.
I
It's
an
achievement
that
demonstrates
year
in
and
year
out
that
the
expenditure
of
our
communities
tax
dollars
is
being
reported
in
an
efficient
and
a
transparent
way.
So
ms
crosby
and
any
members
of
her
staff
who
are
here
tonight,
please
come
forward.
I
want
to
publicly
congratulate
them
for
this
magnificent
award.
J
I
I
L
M
N
I
As
a
teacher,
you
have
the
opportunity
to
change,
lives
and
change
trajectories
for
kids
and
that's
what
they
do
you
know,
and
so
they
have
changed
lives.
You
know
over
their
years
of
service
and
so
for
that,
we're
exceptionally
grateful
for
all
that
they've
done
and
wish
them
well
in
their
retirement.
But
if
they
want
to
come
back,
we
have
an
opportunity.
So
thank
you
again
very
much
for
all
that
you've
done
for
your
children
in
beaufort
county.
I.
O
Think
the
most
important
thing
that
we
can
do
for
our
employees
and
people
in
general
is
to
let
them
know
that
they're
appreciated
and
to
let
them
know
what
a
great
job
they've
done
and
to
also
let
them
know
that
they're
leaving
us,
but
we're
gonna,
miss
them
and
we're
always
here
if
they
want
to
come
back.
Our
arms
are
always.
K
M
I
On
behalf
of
the
entire
school
district,
our
community
and
the
many
lives
that
they
have
touched,
we
want
to
say
thank
you.
We
thank
you
and
congratulate
you,
our
beaufort
county
school
district
retirees,
and
I
cannot
express
enough
how
much
we
appreciate
your
time
here
in
our
school
district
impacting
lives.
Thank
you
very
much.
Q
Mr
scribbler
just
want
to
add
one
more
thing
to
dr
rodriguez
is
a
reporter
that
he
did.
He
did
extend
it.
I
appreciate
him
for
extending
the
our
brands
to
come
back
happen
to
call
me
and
told
me
they're,
coming
back.
A
Okay
takes
us
to
our
first
public
comments,
we'll
chism.
R
Good
evening
and
thank
you
for
this
opportunity,
I
again
stand
before
you,
as
I
did
on
june,
7th
when
I
came
and
made
a
public
appeal
to
file
grievances
for
the
instances
that
happened
through
hr.
I
at
that
time
requested
to
have
copies
of
my
paycheck
stuff,
because
I've
been
taking
the
right
for
me
to
have
copies
on
email
has
been
revoked.
I
have
not
received
one
paycheck
stuff
since
may,
and
those
requests
17
of
them
have
been
ignored.
R
Since
that
time
I
have
come
to
the
district
office
seven
times.
I've
left
several
emails.
I
now
have
another
grievance
that
I
would
like
to
file.
I
sent
copies
to
three
of
the
board
members,
because
I
wasn't
sure
if
22
then
22
meant
that
the
other
board
members
would
not
be
here,
but
I
sent
copies
to
angela
middleton
david
steinberger
binder
hope.
I
didn't
say
that
incorrect
and
kathy
robine,
please
review,
and
please
could
I
get
in
touch
with
someone.
R
There
are
so
many
services
that
are
available
to
me
without
having
a
paycheck
stub,
not
an
itemized
sheet.
I
can't
there
are
things
that
I
need.
That's
not
equivalent.
I
provided
a
grievance
upon
investigation.
These
pages
were
never
included
in
the
investigation.
I
would
like
to
provide
this
to
someone
today,
please.
I
will
not
get
the
attention.
If
someone
doesn't
talk
to
me
tonight.
R
R
Look
at
this,
I'm
I'm
serious
and
I'm
honest
check
the
cameras
between
the
hours
of
11
and
1
o'clock.
I
was
forced
out
the
door
9-1-1
came
and
before
I
left
I
did
get
some
of
the
paperwork,
but
I
did
not
get
my
paycheck
stuff.
If
that's
available
to
me
an
employee,
a
beaufort
county
school
district,
please
may
I
know
I
was
told
that
last
night
would
be
the
night
that
I
find
out
if
I'm
going
to
still
be
an
employee,
because
I
have
to
convince
someone
that
I
deserve
my
job.
A
Do
we
have
anyone
on
the
phone?
Okay.
Concludes
the
public
comments,
the
chairman's
report.
As
we
know,
we
sent
a
letter
to
county
council
about
the
traffic
options
around
beaufort
high
school's
entrance.
I
just
want
to
let
you
know.
I
got
one
response
from
paul
somerville
district
2..
A
He
agreed.
We
need
to
have
substantive
input
to
that
decision.
The
suggestion
was
document
our
questions
and
concerns
and
get
them
to
stu
rodman,
but
also
copy
the
rest
of
counsel.
I
thought
that
was
wise
advice,
so
I
just
wanted
to
let
everybody
know
that
we
did.
We
did
get
somebody
to
respond
to
that
letter.
D
Thank
you.
Our
last
academic
committee
meeting
was
held
on
july
26th
and
at
that
time
we
revisited
just
a
bit
of
the
is
38
and
is
38.1,
but
most
of
the
meeting
was
spent
on
oe
12,
which
is
the
instructional
program
at
we
had
an
extensive
presentation
by
dr
stratos
and
her
team.
Her
marvelous
team
they're
all
sitting
back
there.
D
It's
the
a
plus
team
back
there,
so
they
presented
us
with
data
and
information
regarding
806,
sorry
can't
talk
oe12
and
our
the
academic
committee
voted
unanimously
to
place
it
on
the
agenda
on
the
consent
agenda
for
that
as
being
compliant.
D
So
that's
on
the
consent
agenda
this
evening
and
our
next
meeting
is
august
24th
at
5
pm.
A
Thank
you,
operations.
S
S
Yes,
stu
rodman
sent
an
email
to
me,
as
the
committee
chairman
saying
that
we
should
give
provide
feedback
on
alternatives
four
and
five,
and
also
make
suggestions
about
what
other
alternatives
should
be
considered.
I
forwarded
that
on
to
robert
odding.
S
The
next
meeting
is
scheduled
august,
20th
or
22nd,
I
believe,
for
public
facilities,
and
we
have
a
operations
committee
on
august
10th,
where
we're
going
to
be
talking
about
some
of
these
issues
as
well.
I
know
trisha
fidrich
has
been
in
touch
with
her
county
councilman
she's,
not
here,
but
she
also
just
kind
of
got
there.
S
She
was
listening
feedback
and
then
I
think
we're
going
to
have
another
meeting
as
an
operations
council
to
talk
about
all
the
different
options
that
are
on
the
table,
but
I
didn't
want
to
leave
with
the
impression
that
the
rest
of
county
council
hadn't
responded.
I
think
mr
somerville
responded
more
officially
as
your
representative
and
cc
the
full
board,
but
I
have
also.
Q
I
would
just
like
to
say
that
I
have
definitely
not
heard
from
my
county
council
representative
in
regards
to
regarding
this,
but
thank
you
for
for
sharing
that
and
in
the
future,
when
I
think
would
I
just
think
that
it
would
be
more
informative.
Q
That's
a
an
issue
like
that
that
they'd,
when
the
whole
board,
sent
out
a
letter
that
we
all
that
we're
all
informing
that
that
comes
up
and
is
an
email
to
the
football
so
that
we
all
can
be
on
the
same
page
and
that's
just
a
effective
communication.
I
do
appreciate
that.
Thank
you.
S
All
right
moving
on
to
what
we
actually
this
was
a
special
called
meeting
that
we
did,
because
there
were
a
couple
things
that
needed
to
come
to
the
full
board
before
school
started.
There
were
four
ars
that
were
brought
up
with
changes
and
just
for
public
record
ars
are
under
the
purview
of
the
superintendent
and
he
and
his
staff
just
bring
them
in
front
of
us
to
make
us
aware
of
any
changes
or
notifications
of
any
changes.
So
we
can
share
them
with
the
public
and
we're
informed.
S
There
were
four
ars
kind
of
four
yards
service.
Animals
is
broken
down
into
os,
30,
30.2
and
30.3.
S
So
I'm
going
to
go
quickly
through
those
ars
and
then
we
have
two
action
items
service
animals
we're
going
to
be
having
service
animals
in
the
school.
I'm
not
sure
if
it's
the
first
time,
but
I
think
it's
the
first
time
in
recent
memory,
and
so
the
staff
develop
specific
ars
as
to
how
service
animal
animals
will
be
handled
in
the
school.
S
S
If
anyone
wants
to
look
at
those
or
if
anyone
has
any
questions,
miss
cartilage
is
here
to
answer
any
questions
for
me
to
pause
or
keep
going
through.
S
The
next
one
is
the
suicide
awareness
and
prevention
ar
it's
ar
ss
or
student
services
50,
and
this
was
a
change
to
bring
it
in
line
with
the
new
law
that
says
any
school
in
the
state
of
south
vista
south
carolina
state
law,
any
school
that
issues
id
badges
which
our
high
schools
do
that
on
the
back.
They
are
required
now
to
have
the
contact
information
for
the
nami
suicide
hotline
number.
It's
a
mental
health
initiative
through
the
state
and
so
starting
the
high
school.
S
All
of
the
high
school
student
badges
will
have
that
information
on
the
back
of
them
and-
and
we
discussed
a
little
bit
about
possibly
moving
something
like
that
down
to
the
middle
school
right
now.
The
middle
school
students
do
not
have
badges
so
that
the
changes
to
that
are
on
ar
ss50
moving
right
along
crisis
plans,
student
services,
50
58,
and
ar
this
one
there
was
a
big
change
that
was
brought
into
this
one,
which
is
that
we
have
a
new
role
here
at
the
district.
S
Jerry
henderson,
who
has
been
our
head
of
counseling,
is
making
a
somewhat
lateral
move
into
crisis
prevention
coordinator.
S
She
feels
that
those
two
jobs
overlap
a
fair
amount,
so
basically
she
is
going
to
be
working
with
david,
grissom
and
candace
bruder
and
other
crisis
prevention
staff
in
terms
of
training,
professional
development,
she'll
be
doing
a
lot
of
coordination.
And
if
you
read
through
the
changes
to
this,
they
are
it's
really
trying
to
centralize
and
coordinate
our
crisis
response.
E
Thank
you,
mr
chair.
I
just
had
a
quick
question.
It
looks
like
there
might
so
on
os
33,
there's
no
red
to
indicate
any
changes
in
the
document.
That's
in
board
docs
is
that
the
correct
document.
S
Is
this
the
I
think
it
just
came
out
with
the
crisis
management?
Okay,
I
was
well
that's
a
good
question
because
I
didn't
look
to
see
I
just
they
were
all
kind
of
together.
I
don't
know
if
they
were
wendy.
Is
she
still
here.
E
Is
there
a
way
to
get
a
copy
of
the
markup
for
us?
Please,
thank
you
and
then
my
other
comment
is
that
os
33
on
roman
numeral,
two
refers
to
the
the
person
in
charge.
There
is
the
protective
services
coordinator,
but
then
I
think
that
is
stricken
in
ss
58
and
it's
now
called
a
director
of
protective
services
hold
on
I'll.
E
One
in
our,
so
I
make
sure
it's
it's
consistent
throughout
because
it
looks
like
it
was
changed
in
one
and
perhaps
not
the
other.
S
S
E
E
I
E
Q
S
It
does
go
through
all
the
different
people
that
are
involved
who
to
contact,
how
it's
coordinated,
who
works
who's
the
contact
at
each
school,
so
each
school
has
its
individual
plan
and
not
planned,
but
individual
contact,
people
and
they're
listed
as
to
what
their
responsibilities
are,
and
it
talks
about
the
different
trainings
that
are
involved
the
different:
what's
not
not
trainings.
What's
the
word
drills
that
and
how
many
times
they're
done
and
and
how
they're
done
and
all
that.
S
So
all
that
is
contained
in
the
model,
fire
and
safety
program
which
was
adopted
on
august
2nd,
and
we
do
need
a
motion
to
approve
that.
So
if
anyone
has
any
questions
for
that,
I
can
go
ahead
and
read
the
motion
going
to
go
into
the
bush.
Okay,
so
I
moved
that
the
beaufort
county
school
district
approved
the
fire
and
safety
program
for
beaufort
county
school
district.
B
C
I
So
I'll
just
say
there
are,
if,
if
I
can
take
you
back
to.
I
Around
14
pages
back,
which
says,
exhibit
one
and
you
can
see
there,
that
there
are
a
list
of
different
verifications
and
and
names
and
contacts.
These
are.
These
are
things
that
have
that
have
been
in
place
anyway
over
time,
and
I
think
what
the
state's
done
is
more
formal
in
their
code
now
require
requiring
the
adoption.
I
D
I
have
a
question
about
letter
e
crowd
management.
It
says
the
bcsd
complies
with
them
as
a
statue
and
requires
crowd
managers
to
be
provided
so.
I
A
great
question:
the
the
crowd
management
component
is
something
that
is
in
addition
now
right
and
what
they're
looking
at
is
wanting
for
every
250
people
at
an
event
crowd
managers
right,
and
it
varies
whether
it's
an
indoor
event
or
whether
it's
an
outdoor
event.
I
Whenever
we
have
an
event
that
has
law
enforcement
present,
for
example,
they're
they
are
crowd
managers
as
well
right,
and
so,
but
we
are
going
to
have
there's
a
specific
training
that
they
have
to
take,
and
so
we
will
have
our
administrators
trained
our
athletic
directors,
trained
and
and
various
other
more.
You
know
appropriate
personnel
that
typically
participate
in
events
that
draw
larger
crowds
so
that
we
will
be
in
compliance
with
with
that
wendy
does
that
cover
it.
I
P
Q
Just
for
clarification-
and
this
is
supposed
to
be
submitted
to
the
state-
yes
just
for
just
for
before
we
do
that.
Also,
can
we
put
some
numbers
at
the
bottom
of
this
page
and
I
I
see
we
do
have
the
date.
I
guess
the
date
that
we're
sending
it,
but
we
have
some
numbers
so
that
we
can
know
page
one
page,
two.
F
D
S
All
right,
I'm
almost
done.
We
have
one
more
motion.
I
need
to
make
a
motion
to
approve
the
deed
of
right-of-way
at
river
ridge
academy
to
beaufort
county,
so
I'll
go
ahead
and
make
that
motion
and
then
I'll
explain
to
you
a
little
bit
about
what
that's
about.
S
Can
I
get
a
second
all
right,
so
there
are
four
quick
claim
deeds
in
your
board
packet.
They
each
represent
teeny
tiny
pieces
of
land
around
the
entrance
to
river
ridge
academy,
which
is
directly
across
from
hampton
lake
on
bluffton
parkway.
What
the
county
is
asking
where
they're
going
to
put
in
traffic
light
there,
and
rather
they
don't
want
an
easement.
S
They
actually
want
to
take
over
that
portion
of
the
little
tiny
bit
of
the
property
like
0.028
acres,
and
I
think
0.0003
acres
to
put
in
the
traffic
light,
and
it's
they're
going
to
have
sidewalks
it's
going
to
enhance
the
safety
of
students
who
may
be
coming
and
going
to
hampton
lakes
or
on
to
bluffton
parkway.
So
the
staff
was
very
much
in
favor
of
this,
and
that
is
the
essence
of
the
motion.
I
Just
say
it's
desperately
needed
there
when
they
opened
up
the
new
entrance
or
exit
at
hampton
lake.
It
dumped
a
considerable
amount
of
traffic
into
that
intersection
right
in
the
entrance
to
river
ridge,
and
so
last
year
you
know,
while
it
was
open,
I
can
tell
you
personally.
I
know
it
was
a
challenge
for
kids
and
and
that's
one
of
the
things
I've
heard
quite
a
bit,
so
we've
left
we've
lobbied
pretty
hard
to
get
the
county
to
put
a
traffic
light
in
there.
S
U
E
All
right,
I
have
some
notes
and
there's
quite
a
few
items
here.
Ladies
and
gentlemen,
so
please
bear
with
me.
The
policy
committee
met
on
july
14th.
As
you
all
remember.
From
the
beginning
of
this
meeting,
I
moved
the
approval
of
gc
2.15
to
my
report
and
I'd
like
to
go
ahead
and
make
a
motion
for
final
approval
of
policy.
Gc
2.15
for
final
adoption.
E
The
reason
I
moved
it
off
is
because
this
is
in
regard
to
what
the
procedure
is
for
us
to
amend
our
policies,
and
this
is
going
to
funnel
approval.
We've
already
seen
it
once
so
under
our
current
existing
policies.
E
This
would
be
the
final
time
and
it
would
change
the
process
by
which
the
other
policies
that
I'm
going
to
read
today
will
follow.
So
that's
why
I
wanted
to
bring
it
and
have
that
said.
First,
we're
seen.
V
C
W
A
E
Thank
you
for
that,
and
so
next
I'm
going
to
move
following
under
that
new
policy
of
how
we
amend
our
policies
moving
on
to
oe
8.11
811..
So
the
this
is
going
to
fall
under
the
superintendent's
role.
Again,
this
is
an
oe.
This
is
the
role
of
the
superintendent
and
what
we
did
here
in
policy
committee.
What
was
that
we
changed
this
to
address
the
ar
need
or
gap
essentially,
and
we
moved
former
oe
8.11
to
8
12.
E
A
Is
coming
out
of
policy
we
used
to
have
to
do
three
readings,
and
now
it's
down
to
two
and
that's
nice.
That's
efficiency,
okay,
discussion!
All
those
in
favor.
S
S
D
C
D
E
Well,
the
one
that
is
on
the
actual
policy
manual
here
is
what
we
worked
on.
This
is
the
work
product,
so
I
would
say
robin
if
you
could
change
the
word
creation
in
the
motion
to
say
creating.
That
would
be
most
appropriate.
E
Q
I
was
just
a
little
concerned
when
it
says
right
here
on
on
page
55
to
76.
I
was
where
it
says:
approval
of
new
or
requested
to
change.
X
E
Okay,
the
next
item
is
in
regard
to
that
oe
8.10,
that
you
are
referencing,
mr
smith,
and
gc
3.8,
and
additions
to
3.9
and
311.
So
I'm
going
to
go
ahead
and
make
the
motion
and
then
I'll
discuss.
E
Okay
and
so
to
explain
those
again,
oe
8.10
is
going
to
be
in
regard
to
the
superintendent's
responsibilities,
and
that
is
simply
adding
in
mascots
and
colors
and
then
also
addressing
the
need
for
newer
requests
for
changes.
So
we
are
clarifying
previous
language
to
include
all
of
the
different
scenarios
that
were
not
encompassed
previously.
Q
I
So,
just
I'm
seeking
clarification
on
this,
so
here's
how
I
understand
it
tell
me
if
I'm
wrong
or
clarify
for
me
if
I'm
wrong.
What
I
understand
is
the
board
had
a
motion
at
the
last
meeting
to
ask
the
superintendent
and
the
staff
to
create
a
an
ar
around
logos.
I
It
doesn't
specify
anything
around
the
logo
other
than
to
say
that
we
have
to
have
an
ar
to
address
logos
and
now
you're
fine-tuning
the
policies
around
mascots
colors
and
those
types
of
things:
yes,
sir,
not
logos,
but
mascots
and
colors.
I
Yes,
sir
understanding
that
at
a
school
when,
when
students
at
a
particular
club,
let's
say
bluffton
bobcats,
for
example,
when
when
students
at
bluffton
high
school
in
a
particular
club,
are
designing
a
t-shirt
around
their
club
or
their
group,
and
and
that
t-shirt
has
a
bobcat
on
it
right
if
the
official
logo,
if
the
logo
that
this
or
the
mascot
that
the
school
uses
is
the
bat,
is
the
bobcats
okay.
I
But
if
the
students
design
a
t-shirt
that
has
a
bobcat
standing
up
and
doing
this
right,
that's
not
an
issue
for
the
board.
It's
still
a
it's
still
a
bobcat
right.
It's
not
that's!
Not
the
issue
the
board
is
delving
into
the
board
is
asking
me
to
delve
into
how
we
manage
logos
like
that.
Is
that
correct?
Yes,
okay!
I
just
want
to
be
clear
on
the
expectation
around
that.
So
as
we
move
through
this
okay.
S
S
E
No,
it
totally
makes
sense
because
I
hadn't
really
explained
the
gc
ones
yet
so
the
gc
3.8
is
going
to
be
in
regard
to
new
items.
3.9
is
going
to
be
in
regard
to
existing
facilities
and
3.10
is,
in
regard
to
adjunct
facilities
to
include
athletics
facilities
when
it
talks
about
the
ad
hoc
committees
or
community
committees.
The
layout
and
the
makeup
of
those
is
going
to
be
found
in
our
ar.
E
Agile,
the
composition
of
those
ad
hoc
community
committees-
and
we
very
specifically
use
that
language
because
that's
what
they
are
referred
to
in
the
ars
and
it
lays
out
what
stakeholders
are
supposed
to
be
engaged,
and
I
don't
know
if
we
can
get
a
copy
of
that.
But
it
was
in
the
it's
in
the
policy.
It's
okay,
the
ar
that
lists
out
the
types
of
players
that
should
be
on
those.
So.
S
D
I
Miss
robine
said
exactly
what
I
was
gonna
say.
Q
To
to
to
that
degree,
I
st
I'm
not
sure
that
my
question
kind
of
falls
in
that
I
was
kind
of
rereading
it
and
because
I
remember
during
the
discussion,
I
still
feel
that,
even
though
we've
come
up
with
some
of
these
that
there's
still
room
for
arrowhead,
because
my
question
is
even
at
the
board
level
at
what
degree
and
what
mechanism
have
we
put
in
place
before
what
took
place
to
not
take
place
again,
because
the
fact
that
you
still
have
the
school
level
in
the
district
level,
so
how?
How
does
the?
Q
How
how
at
the
district
level
do
we
know
when
something
like
what
dr
rodriguez
just
says,
take
place
when
you
do
change
change
the
the
bobcat
cat
or
to
a
a
wildcat,
you
know
how?
How
how
do
we
know
exactly
what
I
mean?
How
do
how
do
we,
how
do
what
measures
have
we
put
in
place
or
what
steps
have
we
put
in
place
to
be
known
about
that?
I.
I
Just
want
to
clarify,
because
since
since
this
is
a
public
meeting-
and
this
is
a
highly
sensitive
topic
for
our
community-
I
mean
we've-
we've
seen
that
we've
witnessed
that,
I
I
didn't
say
if
they
change
a
bobcat
to
a
wildcat
or
to
a
cat.
What
I
said
was
if
they
have
their
typical
depiction
of
a
bobcat
head
and
then
all
of
a
sudden,
the
club
wants
to
show
a
bobcat
still
a
bobcat
standing
up
thumbs
up
like
this
right.
That's
a
different
look
for
the
bobcat
right.
That's
a
logo
thing!
I
Q
I
got,
but
I
just
in
other
words
I
just
said,
even
if
you
did
the
ego,
in
other
words,
if
you
said,
if
you
said,
if
it
was
the
ego
versus
to
a
bird
or
whatever
it
wasn't
beautiful
high,
then
you
have
the
same
issue
and
in
my
mind
my
question
is:
what's
the
process
and
what
makes
this
process.
I
said
that
we
didn't
have
these
regs
nine
and
I
mean
we
didn't
have
these
oes.
Now
we
have
these
oes,
but
I
still
see
I
feel
that
there's
room
to
to
to
well.
Q
E
I
mean
so
so
to
be
clear.
We
just
approved
that
oe
8.11
and
that's
to
address
what
you're
talking
about.
I
haven't
seen
the
air
yet
because
we
just
approved
it
and
we've
sent
it
to
dr
rodriguez
and
he's
gonna.
Let
us
see
what
that
ar
looks
like,
so
I
cannot
answer
your
question
with
any
level
of
confidence,
but
I
do
know
that
we
now
have
a
directive.
E
E
E
Yes,
and
they
still,
they
still
will
so
only
on
new
facilities
is
where
there's
an
ad
hoc
committee
formed
and
there's
a
very
distinct
makeup
of
that
committee,
but
on
existing
facilities,
athletics
or
adjunct
facilities,
that's
going
to
come
from
an
okay!
So
that's
what
we
clarified
is
that
to
your
point,
if
students
staff
members
of
those
existing
facilities.
B
I'd
just
like
to
make
a
suggestion
about
this
process
and
that
we
only
have
you
know
single
pages
of
our
of
our
policy
manual.
Could
the
top
of
it
at
least,
say
what
what
that
that
page
is,
which
which
policy
it
is
it'll
just
make
a
lot
quicker
and
easier.
P
A
Q
E
There
were
some
other
items
that
are
going
to
have
to
roll
over.
We
were
trying
to
constrain
for
time,
so
we
addressed
the
pressing
matters
and
there
are
quite
a
few
other
policies
that
will
be
at
the
next
meeting
that
we
discussed.
C
A
Okay,
superintendent's
report
student
achievement.
I
Thank
you,
chairman
schrubinger,
so
two
items
tonight
on
the
superintendent's
report.
One
under
student
achievement
is
about
our
instructional
2223
kickoff
and
dr
stratos
are
here
this
evening.
U
Second,
currently,
one
of
the
largest
professional
development
initiatives
is
currently
taking
place
at
may
river
high
school,
also
at
beaufort
middle
and
at
and
in
hilton
head.
I
want
to
thank
our
board
members
for
sharing
in
the
opening
day's
events.
Additionally,
I
want
to
take
a
moment
to
make
a
special
recognition
to
dr
campbell
and
the
team
who
have
worked
to
prepare
and
continue
to
produce
excellent
learning
opportunities
for
beaufort
county
school
district.
U
Finally,
sir,
with
the
permission
of
the
board,
I
ask
that
we
hold
questions
until
the
end
of
the
presentation.
This
will
allow
for
the
continuity
of
the
presentation,
so
thank
you.
I
appreciate
the
opportunity
to
bring
forward
their
work
and
at
that
I'd
like
to
bring
forward
daniel
fallon.
Thank
you.
Y
First
and
foremost,
if
you
see
on
the
slides
that
I
had
in
absence
of
a
better
word,
I
used
expand.
Expand
can
be
taken
many
different
ways,
so
my
thinking
of
expand
is
more
of
a
deeper
understanding.
So
when
we're
talking
about
these
five
bullets,
these
five
topics
that
I'm
not
expanding
as
in
making
things
wider,
I'm
going
deeper,
so
they're
expanding,
deeper,
deeper
understanding,
deeper
knowledge,
deeper
use,
so
first
professional
development,
so
coming
out
of
data
services.
Y
You
might
not
think
professional
development
is
high
on
our
list,
but
we
do
have
a
data
analysis.
That
is
the
the.
What
the
why
the
how
to
use
use
data
for
all
educators,
that's
going
from
our
level
to
district
office
to
the
to
the
classroom
and
working
in
plcs
and
making
sure
that
everyone
has
the
understanding
of
the
data
that
we're
using
the
assessments.
So
we're
all
on
the
same
page
and
we
can
make
informed
decisions.
Y
Y
So
you'll
hear
more
of
that
throughout
the
presentation,
as
we
move
to
more
of
a
balanced
assessment
approach
more
into
the
formatives
more
into
the
summatives
in
a
balance,
you'll
hear
that,
and
you
understand
why
assessments
are
at
the
forefront
and
finally,
accountability.
That's
what
I'm
usually
here
talking
to
you
all
about-
and
I
just
want
to
take
a
second
to
read
a
small
excerpt
from
the
education
oversight
committee.
Accountability
manual
in
in
mr
schrierbinger's
quote
earlier.
Y
Hopefully,
after
this,
it
makes
sense
so
quote
of
the
eoc
and
the
accountability
manual.
The
express
goal
of
the
accountability
system
is
to
improve,
teaching
and
learning
so
that
all
students
are
equipped
with
a
strong
academic
foundation
and
to
ensure
that
all
students
graduate
with
a
world
class
with
world-class
knowledge,
skills
and
characteristics,
as
defined
by
the
profile
of
south
county
graduate.
The
accountability
system
is
designed
to
promote
high
levels
of
student
achievement
through
strong
and
effective
schools.
Y
So
moving
on
to
performance
matters,
well,
we've
heard
of
this:
it's
something
we
brought
in
last
year,
but
we're
going
to
expand
as
in
have
a
deeper
understanding
with
performance
matters
when
we're
we're.
Looking
at
opening
now
our
assessments
on
the
10th
we're
going
to
train
our
coaches,
our
our
literacy
and
numeracy
coaches,
as
well
as
I
think,
our
master
teachers
that
they're
going
to
be
trained
from
performance
matters.
So
they
can
start
writing
classroom
assessments
at
the
school
level.
So
not
only
is
it
a
district
owned
assessment.
Y
Not
only
is
it
data
just
from
summative
assessments
or
our
form
of
assessment,
vendors
we're
also
getting
into
now
form
of
assessment,
the
classroom
level
that
teachers
can
use
immediately
for
their
data,
we're
also
going
to
increase
the
knowledge
and
skills
at
the
classroom
level
at
the
school
level
around
more
and
better
analytics.
So
the
platform
is
very
powerful.
We
rolled
out
it's
now
time
to
go
a
little
bit
deeper
so
that
we
continue
that
work.
Y
Powerschool
e-collect
is
another
thing.
Data
services
is
working
on
this
year.
It's
a
state-provided
sponsor
program,
so
we're
paying
nothing
for
this.
It
does
link
directly
to
powerschool
and
it's
more
of
a
public.
So
dr
stratus
mentioned
internal
stakeholders.
This
actually
allows
us
to
gather
information,
allow
things
to
be
a
little
bit
easier
for
parents
and
students.
As
far
as
the
portal
part
of
powerschool,
they
can
upload
documentation,
they
can
fill
out
surveys
and
whatnot.
Y
So
we're
working
on
that
we're
going
to
roll
that
out
and
start
using
that
this
year,
at
a
more
usable
level,
not
just
for
state
accountability,
refining
the
assessment
calendar
I'm
going
to
leave
this
to
somewhat
of
the
talk
coming
up
at
a
much
deeper
level,
but
we
did
revisit
the
assessment
calendar.
We
did
revisit
the
assessment
windows.
Y
It
was
easy
to
look
at
our
assessment
calendar
and
and
assume
that
we're
testing
all
year
long.
That
was
more
so.
The
flexibility
at
the
school
level
to
accommodate
testing
windows
for
their
unique
situation,
we're
trimming
those
windows
down
so
that
we
remove
the
look
of
non-stop
testing
as
we
bring
in
the
balanced
assessment
model.
Y
Y
We
have
expanded
or
extended
into
fourth
and
fifth
grade,
and
we
also
carried
on
from
our
eighth
graders
last
year
into
ninth
grade.
We
have
partnerships
with
the
lowcountry
virtual
consortium,
as
well
as
berkeley
county
that
are
providing
virtual
learning
to
beaufort
county
students,
a
small
set
of
beaufort
county
students
that
have
showed
an
interest
and
have
been
vetted
and
reviewed
to
meet
the
qualifications
to
be
at
home,
learners.
Z
So
we
give
a
lot
of
assessments
to
students,
and
so
the
best
analogy
that
I
can
give
is
if
we
really
want
to
balance
between
formative
assessments
and
summative
assessments
with
those
really
interim
benchmarks
along
the
way,
and
so
the
critical
piece
is,
if
you've
ever
had
company
coming
to
visit
your
house,
you
don't
wait
and
to
the
very
end,
when
you're
serving
the
big
dinner
to
say,
how's
it
taste,
does
it
taste
good
as
you
go
along
and
cooking
that
soup
in
your
meal,
you're
gonna
test
it
along
the
way
to
make
sure
things
are
coming
along
and
so
to
ensure
that
we
are
preparing
students
for
the
very
end
to
get
that
assessment
of
learning.
Z
We
want
to
make
sure
that
we
have
very
strong
assessments
for
assessments
for
learning
along
the
way
to
really
balance
that
out,
but
also
ensuring
that
we're
not
over
assessing
students
and
we're
giving
up
meaningful
aspects
of
assessments
to
ensure
that
we're
capturing
the
biggest
picture
to
drive
our
instruction.
As
we
move
forward
part
of
that
work,
then
we'll
have
this
school
year.
We
will
be
giving
out
two
benchmark
assessments
that
the
district
created
so
and
performance
matters.
Z
That
is
just
the
platform
that
we
will
be
administering
it
from,
but
over
the
summer
and
along
the
way
we've
been
working
on
building
assessments
within
there.
So
we'll
end
up
with
two
district
benchmark
assessments
that
are
specifically
aligned
to
our
state
standards
and
then
being
able
to
use
that,
in
conjunction
with
the
other
assessments
that
are
administered
such
as
map
iready,
and
all
of
that,
the
work
along
there
has
also
really
been
aligned
to
karen
hess's
work,
which
is
what
sc
ready
and
all
that
really
looks
for
when
we
think
about
depth
of
knowledge.
Z
I
Flawless
I'll
just
add
that,
in
addition
to
to
that
work,
it's
also
grounded
in
the
work
of
rick
stiggins
with
balanced
assessment
systems,
and
we
have
had
been
fortunate
enough
to
have
rick
stiggins
here,
working
with
our
team
and
working
with
our
staff
and
sharing
his
his
expertise
and
his
insights.
Around
building
balanced
assessment
systems.
Z
Yeah,
and
especially
his
assessments
are
for
learning
that
strong
formative
aspect,
so
then
the
next
piece
gifted
and
talented.
So
within
there
we
want
to
ensure
that
we
have
an
identification
process
that
removes
any
barriers
and
any
situations
that
could
come
up
regardless
of
the
child's
background
where
they
live
in
the
county
and
all
of
that,
and
so
the
only
way
to
really
look
at
that
is
having
a
universal
approach
that,
regardless
of
where
you
are,
you
have
the
same:
access
to
be
identified
so
to
identifying
gifted
and
talented.
Z
You
have
achievement,
and
you
have
aptitude
are
the
two
areas
we
look
for.
Achievement
happens
every
year
in
school.
That
would
be
your
map
assessment.
Your
iready
because
they're
norm
referenced
when
it
comes,
then
that
you
could
have
a
student
that
we're
looking
at
if
we
don't
see
it
there.
The
other
way
we
could
look
at
is
an
aptitude
assessment,
so
is
do
they
have
the
ability
to
perform
high.
So
one
of
the
things
for
this
year
we
are
going
to
be
assessing
fourth
graders
and
sixth
graders
and
giving
them
an
aptitude
assessment.
Z
So
we're
hopeful,
then,
that
we're
going
to
be
able
to
see
the
ability
within
students
and
to
be
able
to
use
that
then
to
identify
students
that
may
not
have
been
identified.
So
we
can
take
their
ability
to
perform
high
and
capture
an
actual
achievement.
Then,
and
then
that'll
happen
through
really
that
talent,
development
aspect
and
our
district
plan.
Z
So
we're
nearing
the
end
of
the
five-year
and
then
we'll
re-look
at
our
broader
goals,
and
then
our
curricular
areas
continuing
the
work
really
in
the
content,
areas
that
make
up
stem
along
with
health
pe
and
ensuring
that
the
content,
areas
and
teachers
are
prepared
and
then
partnering
that
work
with
mrs
murray
and
I
are
working
together
on
our
coaching
support,
so
ensuring
that
we
have
very
specific
professional
development
aligned
to
the
unique
needs
of
our
instructional
numeracy
and
literacy,
coaches,
bringing
them
together
for
a
unified
approach
that
will
have
each
month
focused
on
student-centered,
coaching,
targeted
student
populations,
that
balance
assessment
system
and
then
plcs
and
then
breaking
into
our
specific
content
areas.
AA
Good
evening
I'm
ashley
hutchison
director
of
readiness,
I'm
going
to
talk
a
little
bit
tonight
about
what
we
are
doing
in
early
childhood
to
continue
the
efforts
that
the
district
and
our
isd
team
is
working
towards
so
and
with
the
traveling
preschool
bus
this
school
year,
we
are
hoping
to
expand
the
traveling
preschool
bus
in
order
for
it
to
be
out
three
or
four
times
a
week.
AA
AA
In
order
for
the
bus
to
be
in
the
community
more
often
and
provide
a
deeper
instruction
on
the
bus,
you
know
a
little
preschool
morning
classroom
to
get
children
connected
to
the
district
and
other
early
childhood
programs.
Earlier
the
parents
as
teachers
program,
we
recently
won
the
blue
ribbon
quality
endorsement
award
for
providing
the
highest
quality
home
visitation
program.
AA
We
are
going
to
start
we're
going
to
receive
that
award
at
the
end
of
the
month.
We're
going
to
go
out
to
colorado
and
be
recognized
for
that,
so
we're
excited
about
that.
We
currently
have
five
parent
educators
in
the
district,
they're
continuing
to
serve
families
birth
to
five
years
old,
who
are
in
need
of
home,
visitation
services
and
school
readiness.
AA
Child
find
an
early
childhood
evaluation
team.
This
is
a
true
collaboration
with
sped
and
dr
white
and
misippress
are
going
to
talk
with
a
little
bit
about
it
tonight,
but
we
recently
just
closed
out
our
school
year
and
that
team
evaluated
334
three
four
or
five-year-olds
last
year
for
special
education
services.
AA
We
have
recently
expanded
those
teams.
So
now
we
will
have
two
fully
functioning
early
childhood
evaluation
teams
to
help
serve
both
sides
and
the
entire
county,
which
is
great
our
early
childhood
instructional
coaches
that
we
put
into
place
last
year,
terry
oberg
and
lindsey
tremier
are
out
in
our
schools
every
day
targeting
pre-kindergarten
and
kindergarten
developmentally
appropriate
practices,
also
that
are
aligned
with
the
district's
initiatives
so
really
trying
to
build
and
teach
your
capacity
in
providing
developmentally
appropriate
practices
to
build
that
strong
foundation
pre-kindergarten.
AA
Currently
we
have
screened
725
children.
So
we
are.
We
are
slowly
recovering
from
our
covid.
Our
pre-kindergarten
and
early
childhood
in
general
across
the
nation,
was
hit
pretty
hard,
so
we
are
recovering
as
far
as
seeing
more
four
and
five-year-olds
come
into
the
district.
AA
AA
Our
new
pre
purposeful,
play-based
kindergarten
initiative
that
we're
working
on
for
this
school
year.
The
four
schools
that
have
we're
starting
this
initiative
with
is
koosa
elementary
school
okatee,
elementary
mossy
oaks
and
port
royal.
AA
Those
schools
are
right
now
preparing
learning
environments
so
really
looking
and
focusing
on
what
that
kindergarten
classroom
looks
like
how
children
move
around
and
manipulate
and
facilitate
learning
within
the
classroom,
so
creating
the
centers
back
being
able.
So
children
are
up
moving
around
the
classroom,
investigating
and
really
being
able
to
manipulate
learning
manipulatives.
AA
We
also
are
providing
currently
professional
development
that
integrates
the
south
carolina
early
learning
standards
through
developmentally
appropriate
practices
for
that
play-based,
purposeful,
play-based,
kindergarten
approach.
X
Good
evening,
thank
you
so
much
so
I'm
going
to
start
by
focusing
on
the
work
that
happened
within
curriculum
mapping,
you're,
probably
seeing
that
we
are
all
taking
on
pieces,
but
they
connect
to
one
another.
So
curriculum
mapping
just
didn't
happen
in
english
language
arts,
but
it
also
happened
in
math
science
and
social
studies.
X
X
X
In
addition,
there
was
a
team
that
worked
on
a
plc
guide,
so
our
coaches
will
be
part
of
the
implementation
of
that,
so
that
way
that
the
same
kind
of
pds,
the
support,
the
common
definitions
of
plc
from
the
administrator
level
down
to
coaches
there's
also
going
to
be
some
work
within
instructional
resources.
X
X
So
there's
these
additional
layers
of
support
for
intervention
for
students
based
on
their
different
needs,
and
then
we
are
in
year
two
of
our
scholastic
literacy
rollout.
So
that
is
tier
one
support
for
some
of
our
elementary
schools,
so
there
will
be
ongoing,
pd
and
support
for
those
schools
again
this
year,
drilling
down
into
the
foundations
of
reading
we
are,
we
are
the
state
department
of
education
is
having
a
letters
training
for
some
schools,
so
we
are
fortunate
to
have
eight
schools
participating
in
that
training
and
it
is
an
intensive
training
over
two
years.
X
It's
agnostic
to
a
curriculum,
but
it
really
helps
teachers
understand
how
students
learn
to
read.
So
it's
going
to
be
a
heavy
lift.
It
is
a
lot
of
work,
but
it's
going
to
make
a
very,
very
big
difference
because
oftentimes,
even
in
our
education
backgrounds,
we
did
not
learn
to
the
degree
that
this
course
will
teach
us
on
encoding
and
decoding
in
those
foundation,
reading
skills
and
then
to
work.
X
Alongside
of
that,
we
continue
to
roll
out
and
support
the
instructional
materials
that
they
will
be
able
to
utilize,
with
their
new
learning
from
letters
to
support
students
in
learning
the
foundations
of
reading
such
as
phonics
and
phoenix
awareness
at
tier
one,
which
is
their
core
classroom
tier
two,
which
is
that
strategic
intervention
and
even
tier
three,
the
comprehensive
intervention
that
students
need
all
along
the
way,
really
monitoring
the
data.
For
that
and
then
writing.
Last
year
we
had
a
writing
committee
that
met
all
throughout
the
year.
X
It
was
very
fluid,
but
it
was
great
because
almost
every
meeting
there
was
about
10
schools
represented
we
spent
the
year
looking
at
student
evidence,
so
we
brought
in
writing
from
across
our
schools.
We
looked
at
where
we
are
where
we
need
to
go
and
from
that
we
are
going
to
be
putting
in
place
a
writing
matrix
this
year.
This
matrix
lays
out
how
the
standards
progress
across
the
writing.
X
It
also
aligns
the
different
standards
too,
and
writing
that
should
occur.
Based
on
that
standard
and
in
addition,
we
have
interim
assets.
So
the
interim
assessment,
mr
flowers
spoke
about,
there
will
be
a
tda
which
is
a
text
dependent
analysis.
Writing,
that's
what
they
take
in
essay
ready,
so
that
will
be
happening
as
a
benchmark
and
in
secondary
our
core
resources
collections.
X
So
there
we
have
already
reworked
their
writing,
prompts
to
look
and
sound
like
and
be
like
the
tda
writing
process
from
the
state,
so
that
will
be
embedded
in
the
matrix
as
support
to
the
teachers
this
year
as
we
grow.
Our
writing.
Thank
you.
V
V
We
have
held
our
first
professional
development
as
of
today
on
the
profile
of
the
beaufort
county,
graduate
very
excited
that
it
went
well.
I
just
want
to
share
the
units
that
we
went
through
today.
We
went
through
a
sixth
grade
unit
that
is
based
on
hammurabi's
code
and
the
similarities
and
differences
to
beaufort
county
ordinances.
V
We
looked
at
expanding
that
into
the
magna
carta
in
the
united
states
constitution,
based
on
our
next
8th
grade
and
11th
grade
social
studies
curriculums.
We
looked
at
a
first
grade,
curriculum
on
financial
literacy
based
on
spending
and
saving
thumbs
up
for
thumbs
down.
V
We
also
looked
at
an
8th
grade
lesson
on
the
scent
of
home,
which
is
about
plow
mud,
which
we
now
know
as
pluffmut
before
I
got
back
from
may
river
today,
I'd
already
had
a
teacher
from
that
session.
Send
me
a
unit
that
she
had
created
since
the
end
of
the
session,
so
teachers
are
excited
to
be
a
part
of
this
work.
V
We
have
started
to
work
on
our
mtss
professional
development
sessions
for
the
year
as
well,
dr
white
and
I
will
be
presenting
later
this
week,
a
session
on
classroom
management
and
discipline
for
that
tier
one
intervention
we
have.
We
have
also
began
our
rollout
of
the
new
beaufort
county
school
district,
professional
learning,
communities
guidebook.
V
We
have
several
sessions
that
are
going
to
be
led
during
summer
institute
from
rose
backus.
Who
was
our
supervising
guru
on
this
and
then
dr
sands,
from
beaufort
middle
school
and
myself
will
be
presenting
on
the
fifth
to
our
instructional
coaches.
We
really
look
forward
to
our
plc
guide,
bringing
some
consistency
to
that
collaboration
process
for
increasing
student
achievement.
V
V
We
will,
as
isd,
will
be
providing
to
them
head
of
school
and
administrative
training
throughout
the
year
in
order
to
support
that
cambridge
cambridge
is
a
growing
program
in
our
schools.
The
cambridge
academy
provides
students
with
the
opportunity
to
pursue
a
rigorous
program
of
study
based
on
a
standardized
curriculum.
V
The
program
really
focuses
on
the
opportunity
to
apply
learning
across
the
content
content
areas.
We've
seen
great
success
at
battery
creek
with
this
program
and
we've
added
robert
smalls
international
academy
and
bay
river
and
again
instructional
services,
we'll
see
be
supporting
that
throughout
the
year
world.
Languages
very
pleased
to
say
that
in
2021
we
had
a
175
increase
of
students
earning
the
seal
of
biliteracy.
V
V
V
We
offer
two
sessions
to
teachers
today
and
we
will
offer
two
sessions
from
the
dbq
project
on
august
10th.
We
are
very
excited
to
have
them
with
us
that
will
continue
throughout
the
year.
We
will
be
doing
a
book
study
on
a
book
called.
Why
won't
you
just
tell
us
the
answer
by
bruce
lesch,
which
our
state
department
used
in
the
development
of
our
standards.
V
We
also
want
to
support
our
social
studies
through
academic
competitions.
As
you
know,
we
currently
have
model
united
nations
youth
in
government
and
academic
world
quests
all
wonderful
competitions.
We
want
to
offer
that
to
more
students,
so
we're
looking
at
expanding
that
to
all
of
our
schools
high
schools
this
year
and
including
some
of
our
middle
schools.
V
V
This
week,
during
summer
institute,
we
are
providing
12
sessions
through
our
kennedy
center
partner
august
10th.
We
are
providing
four
sessions
that
are
performance
arts
based
through
arts.
Now
georgia,
we
will
continue
that
throughout
the
year
and
we'll
be
working
with
our
kennedy
center
on
a
new
grant
that
we
have
focused
on
professional
development
that
was
written
by
the
kennedy
center
they're,
just
helping
us
out
with
it.
V
Arts
are
very
diverse
and
they're
massive,
and
even
with
the
addition
of
chris
crabb
as
my
coordinator
in
this
area,
the
scope
is
wide.
We've
begun
the
process
of
encouraging
our
teachers
to
step
up
as
leaders
I've
developed
round
table
sessions
for
every
area
of
our
arts.
Those
will
be
round
tables.
Truly,
I
will
sit
in
on
those.
V
V
V
V
Dr
skaggs
and
I
are
also
working
on
training
modules
that
teachers
can
take
online
and
will
receive
credit,
for
we
are
focusing
first
and
initially
on
tier
one
instruction,
but
we're
definitely
looking
at
that
tier
two
and
tier
three
instruction.
We're
also
looking
to
update
the
current
evidence-based
strategies
that
are
listed
in
enrich.
We
want
to
make
sure
that
we
have
strong
strategies
for
our
teachers
to
put
in
place
as
they
develop
plans
for
our
students.
W
Good
evening,
as
you
all
see
it's,
it's
such
a
great
collaborative
effort
between
the
departments
and
instruction
when
it
comes
to
working
with
students
with
disabilities.
It
can't
be
done
in
isolation
and,
as
dr
rodriguez
said
to
the
group
this
morning,
all
means
all
so.
Special
education
has
adopted
the
theme
of
hats,
helping
all
to
succeed,
and
that
can
only
be
done
with
our
collaboration
and
a
focus
on
curriculum,
especially
special
education,
curriculum
and
with
a
pandemic
and
coming
out
of
that
and
getting
my
performance
data
from
the
state.
W
We
have
a
long
way
to
go
into
to
get
caught
up
with
a
learning
loss
and
continue
to
grow
our
students.
So
with
that,
I'm
excited
to
say
that
we
have
hired
two
special
education
curriculum
specialists,
whose
focus
is
going
to
be
primarily
to
support
our
special
education
teachers
in
the
classroom
not
sit
in
iep
meetings,
not
right
ieps,
but
go
in
model
set
up
learning
labs
and
all
of
that
and
ms
surface
is
going
to
elaborate
a
little
bit
on
what
that
will
look
like,
but
really
really
excited
about.
W
Having
those
there
laura,
bruce
and
melanie
jenkins
white,
who
both
are
coming
to
us
from
similar
roles
in
their
previous
school
district,
so
they're
coming
with
lots
of
experiences
as
well
to
support
our
students.
So
I'm
really
excited
about
that
and
seeing
what
it's
going
to
do
for
our
students,
as
we
continue
to
move
that
target
for
great
success
with
our
students.
So
I'm
going
to
have
carleen
elaborate
a
little
bit
about
our
one
of
our
focus
areas,
which
is
professional
knowledge
and
growth.
W
I
do
strongly
believe
that
if
we
continue
to
grow
and
mentor
our
teachers
and
work
with
them,
that
we
will
get
the
student
outcomes
that
we
have
and
our
iaps
will
be
compliant
and
our
kids
will
continue
to
reach
high
heights
and
expectations
along
with
working
with
the
teachers
on
setting
those
high
expectations,
both
in
the
intensive
support
classrooms
and
the
supplemental
classrooms
as
well.
So
the
surface
is
going
to
explain
a
little
bit
about
our
pillar
4,
which
is
professional
knowledge
and
growth.
AB
Thank
you,
dr
white.
As
you
know,
our
students
learn
differently
and
so
do
adults,
so
we're
really
thrilled
with
the
addition
of
those
two
special
education
instructional
specialists,
but
we're
also
equally
as
excited
about
the
fact
that
we've
expanded
our
models
for
professional
development
and
growth
and
learning
for
not
only
teachers
but
paraprofessionals
and
our
related
service
staff.
We
open
next
wednesday
august
10th
with
almost
450
special
educators,
so
that'll,
be
it
beaufort
high
school,
the
performing
arts
center,
so
we're
excited
as
part
of
the
growth
and
learning
process.
AB
In
these
12
models,
dr
white
has
talked
a
little
bit
about
the
instructional
specialists
and
the
lesson
modeling.
We
surveyed
all
of
the
staff
at
the
end
of
last
school
year,
and
so
we
specifically
said:
what's
your
learning
style?
How
do
you
learn
many
of
the
teachers
we
knew,
but
we
still
felt
it
was
important
to
gain
their
invaluable
feedback.
We
were
happy
to
know
that
our
the
course
that
we
were
trying
was
very
much
in
alignment
with
the
feedback
we
received,
so
they
can
see
actually
another
perspective.
AB
Another
teacher,
if
you
will
work
alongside
them
and
show
them
what
it
looks
like,
give
them
an
opportunity
to
practice
in
a
non-threatening
manner,
and
then
they
can
even
co-teach
it
together
with
the
students.
If
that's
the
teacher's
desire,
we're
really
super
excited.
I
know
I'm
saying
excited
a
lot,
but
we're
very
passionate
about
our
work
is
demonstration
classrooms.
AB
AB
When
they've
had
time
to
wrestle
with
the
concepts,
they've
had
time
to
put
it
into
practice
in
their
own
rooms,
then
they
can
go
see
it
again
and
work
in
collaboration.
Go
back,
build
their
confidence,
build
the
morale
come
back
again.
We
hope
to
grow
that
pool
of
experts
so
that
all
of
our
special
educators,
you
know
just
have
that
boost
and
that
they
then
can
empower
someone
else.
AB
Something
else
we're
excited
about
would
be
the
train,
the
trainer
model,
so
everyone
on
the
special
education
leadership
team
is
being
trained
specifically
in
our
specialized
curriculum.
So
then
they
too
can
have
a
hand
out
there
in
the
coaching
learning.
Spotlights
are
another
focus
of
our
department
so
through
the
surveying,
through
our
curriculum
audits
through
the
auditing
of
the
ieps,
we'll
have
targeted
sessions
where
it's
not
just
a
sit
and
get
it's
a
come
and
learn,
and
then
it's
a
takeaway
and
it's
a
bring
back
so
hopefully
you're.
AB
Seeing
that
theme
of
that
we're
going
to
continue
to
support-
and
it's
not
just
going
to
be
a
one-time-
only
sorry,
okay
and
then
the
last
two
that
we're
going
to
mention
is
that
we
do
have
a
google
classroom.
It's
active,
it's
live,
teachers
actually
fill
it
and
the
leadership
team
fills
it.
So
therefore,
it's
just
another
model
of
professional
development.
W
So
you
can
see
we
have
a
lot
going
on
and
I
hope
you
will
get
to
come
and
experience
some
of
those
as
the
year
goes
by
as
well.
Thank
you
thank.
U
U
I
can
hear
you
I
can
hear
you
now
so
if
you
could
just
go
briefly
diana,
because
I
want
to
respect
the
remaining
amount
of
time
that
we
have,
I
do
appreciate
and
for
everyone
to
know
diana
is
in
lexington.
She
presented
this
morning
with
the
state
she
had
to
go
to
lexington
for
a
conference,
she'll
be
back
actually
in
the
district
tomorrow
as
well.
So
diana
go
ahead,
please.
AC
Yes,
I
have
a
meeting
with
the
title
iii
department
here.
It's
the
state
department
coordinators
meeting,
so
we're
meeting
up
here
for
tomorrow
morning.
Thank
you,
everyone.
I
just
wanted
to
start
my
presentation
by
saying
all
of
the
information
I'm
sharing
with
you
about
the
multilingual
learner
program
is
really
what
we
do
for
all
students,
but
in
in
specific
purpose,
to
assist
our
mls,
but
everything
that
our
colleagues
have
said.
Mr
flowers,
miss
murray
everybody.
We
do
this
for
all
our
students
to
help
them
with
their
educational
journey.
So
I'll
start
with
data.
AC
The
national
and
state
multilingual
learner
data.
The
u.s
census
bureau
collects
language
data
annually
through
the
acs,
the
american
community
survey,
and
this
year
we
were
just
told
last
week
that
63
million
bilingual
individuals
are
in
our
nation.
As
we
speak
as
recognized
by
the
federal
law
guidelines
of
south
and
south
carolina,
we
have
grown
from
43
000
to
47
718
bilingual
individuals
in
our
state.
Currently,
every
school
in
south
carolina
has
multilingual
learners
goals
for
our
22-23
year.
AC
In
the
interest
of
accountability
for
south
carolina
report
card,
we
see
a
trend
on
that
is
increasing.
In
terms
of
ml
showing
growth
going
forward
this
year,
our
goal
is
to
further
improve
those
scores
in
order
to
meet
the
state
criteria
on
access
for
else
and
as
ms
karen
mckenzie
mentioned,
our
ceiling
by
literacy
and
supporting
rmls
to
be
proud
of
their
first
language
as
well
as
demonstrate
their
proficiency
in
english.
By
attaining
that
celeb
by
literacy
under
operations.
AC
Our
welcome
centers
have
increased
to
five
days
a
week.
They
are
open
on
monday
and
wednesday
at
the
beaufort
county
school
district
office
and
on
tuesdays
thursdays
and
fridays.
At
the
bluffton
campus,
we
have
increased
staff
to
two
full-time,
a
bilingual
liaison
there,
as
well
as
a
professional
teacher
screening
for
purposes
of
identifying
mls.
AC
It
is
no
longer
an
appointment.
It
is
a
first-come,
first-served
basis
and
we
are
already
looking
into
how
to
improve
that
for
next
year,
because
it
has
been
very
busy
this
year,
everyone,
our
bilingual
liaisons,
were
trained
to
be
interpreters
for
special
education,
paperwork
and
ieps
to
be
in
compliance
with
the
state
department.
Dr
white
and
myself
have
had
extensive
conversations
about
that
as
long
as
well
as
carlene
and
her
team.
So
we've
collaborated
on
that.
We've
also
collaborated
on
improving
registration
processes
at
our
welcome
centers
with
dr
white.
AC
U
AC
So
we're
going
to
pilot
in
an
effort
to
support
the
literacy
for
all
students,
we're
going
to
launch
a
collaborative
teaching
pilot
this
year.
Five
schools
will
be
a
part
of
that
of
this
cohort.
Each
school
site
administration
will
be
asked
to
participate
and
commit
to
the
piloting
of
this
co-teaching
model
for
a
full
year.
Dr
andrea
heiningsfeld
and
dr
maria
dove,
who
are
authors
currently
advising
the
south
carolina
department
of
education
in
a
co-teaching
model,
will
be
the
lead
for
our
district.
AC
We
are
in
communication
with
them
and
they
will
come
speak
to
our
leadership
as
well
as
offer
and
present
and
guide
our
teachers
that
are
chosen
for
this
pilot
to
guide
them
and
offer
professional
development
anything
that
we
need.
In
order
for
this
pilot
to
be
successful,
and
that's
really
all
I
have
thank
you
for
diana.
AD
Mr
chairman
board
members,
thank
you
so
much
for
the
opportunity
and
as
you've
heard
the
hard
work
of
our
colleagues
you're
correct
that
dr
stratus,
and
that
they
perform
on
the
or
help
our
students
to
move
the
needle
for
academic
attainment
and
then
career
and
technical
education
takes
it
to
that
next
level
to
make
sure
their
college
and
career
prepared.
So
just
a
few
updates
of
some
exciting
things.
That's
going
to
be
upcoming,
so
for
we
want
to
always
align
with
state
initiatives,
and
we
have
been
building
upon
our
students
who
earn
industry
certification.
AD
So
now
there
is
a
focus
on
stackable
credentialing.
The
value
of
that
is
is
offering
our
students
an
opportunity
to
better
market
themselves
as
they
move
into
their
field
after
graduation.
We
will
be.
This
will
be
funded
through
cte
state
funds,
and
we
have
already
a
process
in
place
and
we
are
going
to
be
offering
an
ic3
digital
literacy.
AD
Multi-Tiered
certification
it'll
be
three
levels
that
students
can
start
in
the
ninth
grade
and
they'll
be
able
to
attempt
by
the
end
of
their
senior
year
and
again,
this
will
align
with
our
computer
science
standards.
Another
area
that
we
will
seek
input
is
with
our
outreach
with
business
and
community.
We
want
to
make
sure
that
what
our
students
are
learning
and
earning
in
our
cte
classes
align
with
business
and
industry
needs
so
beaufort
memorial
hospital
is
a
major
initiative
that
we
will
continue
to
expand
this
year.
They
have
an
excellent
program.
AD
They've
developed
called
path,
people
achieving
their
highest
and
they
are
very
welcoming
of
our
high
school
health
sciences
and
sports
medicine
students,
as
well
as
when
our
students
graduate
there
are
multiple
pathways
that
they
will
offer
for
their
students
and
current
employees
to
help
pay
to
advance
their
careers
as
they
work
there,
and
we
are
also
working
with
health
care
organizations
south
of
the
broad
to
duplicate
these
efforts.
Another
great
community
outreach
program
for
this
year
is
through
business,
attract.
AD
AD
Also,
we
continue
to
partner
with
our
cyber
and
I.t
partnerships
through
our
med
tech.
7
grant
we're
pulling
all
this
together.
On
august,
the
10th
dr
michael
vecchio
and
I
are
facilitating
a
joint
professional
development
at
the
culinary
institute.
Everyone
is
welcome
to
join
us
it'll,
be
a
day
of
working
with
our
teachers
on
different
instruction.
Our
focus
this
year
is
going
beyond
the
cte
content
to
improve
overall
instruction
to
make
a
difference.
AD
As
you
know,
we've
had
for
the
past
two
to
three
years:
excellent
representation.
So
we
want
to
tap
into
their
expertise
and
they
will
be
working
with
us
to
help
facilitate
these
sessions
to
work
with
our
new
and
returning
teachers
along
those
lines.
As
far
as
options,
we
are
excited
to
bring
to
you
an
increased
focus
on
honors
level
work
for
some
of
our
cte
courses.
As
well
as
our
junior
jrotc
programs,
there
is
a
process
involved.
AD
They
have
to
follow
a
south
carolina
honors
framework,
and
then
it
will
go
to
the
academic
committee
for
further
review
and
approval.
So
we
look
forward
to
bringing
several
of
those
courses
to
you
and
then.
Lastly,
as
far
as
programs
go,
we
have
some
great
news.
It
is
official
that
may
river
high
school
has
been
approved
for
an
air
force,
jrotc
program
shout
out
to
mr
bornshower
and
his
team,
as
well
as
mr
ralph
latai,
for
their
hard
work
to
bring
this
to
fruition.
AD
It
will
start
out
this
year
with
mr
bornshire
he'll
be
able
to
hire
a
senior
military
instructor
in
the
spring.
That'll
start
the
planning
process,
and
then
students
will
be
able
to
enroll
starting
in
the
fall
for
2023.
AD
So
we
want
to
thank
you
so
much
for
your
continued
support.
The
adding
the
career
development
facilitators
again
is
going
to
help
us
to
increase
our
outreach
reach
as
we
partner
with
our
student
services,
so
we're
going
to
continue
to
to
produce
those
students
graduates
that
not
only
can
read
and
write,
but
also
are
going
toward
a
viable
career.
So,
thank
you
so
much.
U
AA
We
are
working
with
head
start.
They
are
still
located
in
the
same
building,
so
st
helena,
early
learning,
center
davis,
early
learning,
center,
beaufort
elementary
and
shanklin.
AA
So
mr
lewis,
and
I,
which
is
the
head
start
director,
he
and
I
have
talked
frequently
over
the
last
few
weeks
trying
to
coordinate
getting
their
teachers
back
in
school
and
coordinating
pd.
I
know
that
the
saint
helena,
robert
odding,
I'm
going
to
talk
a
little
bit
about
the
building
at
st
helena.
Early
learning
center
was
painted
over
the
summer
along
with
a
new
roof.
T
I
don't
have
any
questions,
but
I
have
some
comments.
First
of
all,
you've
got
a
great
team,
great
knowledge,
great
talent,
sky's,
the
limit
for
you
all,
and
so
we'll
be
looking
for
that
in
the
future.
T
I
really
like
the
emphasis
on
professional
development
for
teachers,
but
in
rick
stiggen's
latest
book.
He
talks
about
parental
development,
about
especially
about
formative
assessments
and
what
the
goals
and
strategies
are,
and
I
hope
that
you're
looking
at
that
because
selling
it
to
the
kids
is
one
thing
selling
it
to
mom
and
dad
is
another
and
that's
something
that
the
teachers
are
going
to
have
to
get
out
out
and
get
after.
T
I
read
a
just
recently
read
an
article
about
play-based,
kindergarten
and
they're,
saying
that's
the
way
to
go.
That's
that's
what
sweden
and
a
lot
of
other
countries
are
doing,
and
research
shows
that
it's
very,
very
effective.
It
sounds.
It
sounds
like
play
time,
but
it's
more
than
that,
and
I
think
that's
something
that
I
I'm
really
anxious
to
hear
more
about.
T
I
am
overjoyed
to
hear
the
emphasis
on
writing
for
secondary
schools.
I'm
I'm
anxious
to
see
the
writing
matrix
on
how
you're
going
to
use
that
the
reading
school
reading
skills
emphasis
great
stuff.
My
constituents
are
going
to
be
glad
to
hear
about
your
emphasis
on
the
constitution
and
on
financial
literacy,
because
I
get
asked
that
all
the
time
by
constituents
most
of
them
are
not
parents,
but
they're
just
concerned
people
in
the
community.
They
want
to
talk
about
that.
T
The
honors
cte
program-
great
great
initiative.
That's
that's
well,
it's
needed
that
gives
them
that
kind
of
prestige
to
match
the
honors
programs
that
we
have
in
the
rest
of
the
school
and
bottom
line.
Thank
you
for
an
excellent
presentation
and
I
I
look
forward
to
hearing
at
the
end
of
this
school
year,
how
you've
all
accomplished.
D
I
too
want
to
thank
you
for
your
presentation,
and
I
said
this
earlier
tonight.
The
a
team
is
standing
up
there.
You
all
are
awesome.
The
talent
and
skills
and
the
passion
that
you
bring
to
our
district
is.
I
think
personally,
I'm
very
thankful
for
that.
I
have
a
question.
I
have
two
questions,
mr
fallon,
you
talked
about
performance
matters
and
formative
assessments
and
we're
going
to
start
using
those
are
the
formative
assessments,
teacher
created
and
entered
in,
or
are
they
part
of
the
performance
matters?
Software.
D
Y
Assessments
that
were
written
over
the
summer
so
on
august
10th
we're
going
to
start
the
process
of
having
select
individuals,
be
able
to
then
go
back
to
the
schools
and
train
on
creating
assessments,
not
creating
items.
So
they
have
an
item
bank.
We
have
multiple
item
banks,
we're
gonna,
allow
our
teachers
and
our
coaches
and
our
administrators
working
in
plcs
and
in
their
groups
their
teams
to
pull
from
item
banks
and
construct
assessments,
but
we're
not
at
the
level
of
item.
Writing.
Y
That's
another
iterative
growth
in
the
process
to
become
cognizant
and
aware
of
writing
a
non-biased
item.
But
if
you're
pulling
from
a
reviewed
item
bank,
they
can
say
we're
teaching
these
standards.
I
want
to
create
a
small
form
of
assessment
for
my
classroom.
I'm
going
to
pull
two
or
three
items
from
an
item
bank
that
are
assigned
with
a
standard,
and
I
can
give
that
and
I
can
quickly
get
the
results.
D
U
D
U
P
Got
a
bunch
of
notes
here.
First
of
all,
the
five.
Let's
start
with
the
last
young
lady,
you
know
yeah,
there
are
five.
Five
schools
mention
five
schools
where
they
were.
AC
U
AC
P
Is
there
you
have
e
power
school
e-collect.
Is
there
any
way
that
we
can
know,
monitor
or
have
any
kind
of
assessment
on
how
many
parents
are
really
yeah.
Y
Y
So
yes,
there's
multiple,
so
this
last
spring
the
state
department
deployed
their
student
and
teacher
sorry,
student
and
parent
surveys
for
the
report
card
via
ecolect,
so
our
students
we
were
required
to
have
eighty
percent.
We
had
far
greater
than
eighty
percent
of
completion.
We
were
in
the
upper
nineties,
so
students
have
access
to
the
portal
very
well.
They
know
that's
where
their
grades
are
parents.
Y
It
becomes
very
hard
for
us
to
measure,
but
as
you're
mentioning
as
we
start,
the
first
thing
we're
going
to
tackle
is
the
uploading
of
proof
of
residency
documentation.
It
goes
straight
to
the
student
record,
so
I
can
go
in.
I
can
click
on
two
buttons.
I
can
upload
my
documentation.
We'll
then
know
who
submitted
via
ecolect,
but
the
problem
is,
if
you
access
through
a
computer,
a
web
browser,
I
can
track
that
you've
logged
in.
If
you
use
a
phone
through
the
application,
it
does
not
log
that
you've
logged
in.
Y
So
if
the
question
comes
in
how
many
parents
have
access
to
parent
portal
or
how
many
are
accessing
a
month,
I
can
give
you
who
accesses
from
a
desktop
or
a
pc
or
a
laptop.
I
cannot
from
the
app,
but
if
everyone
starts
using
that
for
the
proof
of
residency
documentation
which,
under
state
law,
we
are
required
to
collect
annually,
and
that
is
our
collection
tool.
I
can
tell
you
how
many
folks
uploaded
it
via
that
tool.
Y
P
AE
S
We
asked
one
of
my
questions
about
the
five
schools
also
you
mentioned.
I
think
it
was
miss
gilbert
healthcare
organization,
south
of
the
broad
that
you
are
beginning
to
work
with
with
the
medical.
What
healthcare
organization
south
of
the
broad
are
you
working
with?
Yes,.
D
AD
Tenet
health
has
reached
out
as
well
as
some
of
our
drear
physical
therapy
for
our
sports
medicines
program
nhc
of
bluffton,
and
we
developed
our
relationship
with
springer
in
port
royal.
So
we're
excited
to
be
expanding
with
springer
and
bluffton.
AD
So
nhc
of
bluffton
and
then
we're
we're
looking
to
expand
with
with
springer,
and
then
we
have
springer
port
royal.
Those
have
to
go
through
approval
process
through
the
state
as
far
as
the
nurse
aid
program,
but
we
certainly
are
always
open
to
others.
But
those
are
our
main
ones
that
we
work
with
with
our
nurse
aid
programs,
because.
AD
Kind
of
so
beaufort
memorial
hospital
is
embarked
on
an
excellent
program
for
their
existing
employees.
If
you
are-
and
I
don't
want
to
speak
for
the
ceo,
but
if
you're
a
custodian
and
you
want
to
add-
you
want
to
go
back
to
school
while
you're
working
and
you
want
to
add
on
some
type
of
medical
degree,
then
they're
they're
going
to
work
with
their
employees
and
as
a
also
as
a
result
of
that
they're
going
to
work
with
our
high
school
students
as
well.
S
And
then
I
would
share
my
colleagues
comments.
Like
you
know,
everything
was
very
impressive.
The
only
comment
I
have
to
the
negative
is
just
one
thing
that
seems
missing
from
this.
Lineup
is
stem
and
technology
as
an
area.
I
don't
know
if
that's
colleen
beck
varsky,
but
it's
something
that
just
I
think
needs
to
be
such
an
emphasis.
U
U
U
U
F
Dr
white,
I
know
in
the
past
el
salvador
said
several
years
ago.
We
had
not
good
working
relationship
with
parents.
I
wonder
how
does
that
improve.
W
Yes,
I
think
so
as
far
as
the
parent
concerns
and
complaints
that
we
get,
that
has
decreased
significantly
and
a
lot
of
that
came
about
because
of
some
of
the
shifts
in
programming.
W
To
address
some
of
those
needs
that
the
parents
have,
and
our
goal
is
to
start
to
partner
with
some
of
our
state
agencies,
to
do
some
more
training
with
parents
as
well.
Q
First
I'll
stop
by
saying
I
thank
you
all
for
all
the
work
that
you
do
in
this
district,
because
you
definitely
help
us
do
make
the
difference
in
this
district
and
all
things
that
you
do
with
that
being
said.
Actually
I
go
back
to
that's
dr
white
and
our
and
her
staff.
When
you
were
up
here
from
mexico,
you
may
made
a.
Q
W
They'll
be
working
with
all
the
instructional
assistants
and
the
classroom
teachers
in
all
the
schools,
both
at
elementary
and
secondary
levels,.
W
No,
there
are
partnering
like
with
isd
and
the
coaches,
we're
just
going
to
focus
on
special
education,
but
they're,
not
directors,
they're
more
in
a
coaching
role.
Q
Right
and
where's
that
funding
coming
from.
Q
And
I'm
just
I'm
just
asking,
because
you
know
I
mean
miss
kellerman
just
asked
you
you're
a
great
question
and
I'm
glad
to
hear
that
we've
we've
had
that,
but
I
think
that
is.
That
is
very
important
and
I
was
you
know
just
trying
to
figure
out
also.
How
also
could
we
well
just
trying
to
figure
out
also
their
role,
not
understand
what
they're
doing
and,
like
I
said
why
the
question
was
one
of
the
questions
was
where
the
funding
was
coming
from.
Q
Yes,
I
just
did
that
in
that
department
that
we
need
more
of
a
like
how
we
have
parent
liaisons.
W
So
not
at
this
time,
the
the
parent,
liaisons
and
the
connections
with
the
parents
will
happen
more
with
the
special
education
coordinators,
because
they're
the
ones
that
are
interacting
more
with
the
parents
in
the
meetings
and
stuff.
So
we'll
just
continue
to
grow.
That
one
of
the
things
that
we
look
like
as
we
just
decide
on
priorities
is
what
are
special
education
indicators.
We
have
a
report
card
like
general
ed
and
what
that's
saying
to
us,
and
we
use
that
data
to
decide
what
the
initiatives
will
be
each
year.
W
Q
All
right
and-
and
then
lastly,
I
just
said
well
just
get
out
of
that,
but
you
have
my
toolbox
on
that
notice.
My
eyes
has
because
I
just
know
that
what
I
feel
and
is
listening
to
parents,
that
with
that
we
definitely
need
more
coordinators
in
the
district.
So
I
was
just
kind
of
shocked
that
you
created
those
two
positions.
One
of
the
coordinators
that
we
have
are
not
kind
of
spread
kind
of.
You
know
it's
what
the
community
definitely
has
been
expressing
that
they
feel
kind
of
that
they
are
spread
kind
of
thin.
Q
Q
I
think
that
we
definitely
need
more
more
qualities
and
more
coordinators
and
in
that
in
the
spare
department,
so
that
that
can
help
us
make
sure
that
we
that
we're
giving
each
and
every
kid
the
opportunity
that
they
need
and
we're
putting
the
emphasis
in
the
focus
on
them,
so
they
can
grow
in
and
be
professional
citizens
in
in
this
country
and
in
this
town.
That's
it,
but
thank
y'all.
Thank
you.
Next
is.
Q
Q
Q
Mrs,
this
is
just
a
statement
in
terms
of
mrs
hutchinson,
I
my
my
I
was
gonna,
go
back
to
the
comment
that
mr
campbell
said,
and
you
already
answered
it,
and
I
just
wanted
to
add
to
that,
because
you
already
answered
that
question.
Q
I'm
just
hoping
that
in
in
in
the
future
that
we
can,
you
know
figure
out
how
we
can,
in
terms
in
terms
of
head
start
how
we
can
have
something
to
bring
more
camaraderie
amongst
the
agency
and
the
and
and
the
district
just
because
of
the
fact
that
not
only
they
do
utilize
the
the
building.
But
it's
just
that
the
in
the
in
the
transferring
of
students
from
their
program
to
our
program.
Q
You
know
the
same
way
how
we
hear
about
bridges-
and
I
mean
not
bridges
but
the
other
the
other
over
in
shell
point
those
review
the
same
way
how
we
have
a
relationship
river.
We
get
to
hear
from
things
from
river
river
view
comes
before
our
board.
I
think
it'd
be
awesome
just
to
have
them
to
come
before
our
board
so
that
we
can
understand
and
digest
and
process
and
understand
what
they're
doing
as
a
board.
D
I
just
have
one
more
question
for
miss
dromsky.
I
don't
know
if
I
pronounce
your
name
right.
The
welcome
centers
are
in
beaufort
and
bluffton,
and
I
know
hilton
head
has
quite
a
large
population
of
multilinguals.
Do
we
have
any
way
that
we
help
transport
them
to
bluffton,
or
is
there
anything
to
help
with
that
population.
D
AC
Currently,
we
do
not
have
a
plan
for
transportation,
however,
every
school
in
hilton
head
has
one
or
more
bilingual
liaisons
to
assist
in
the
registration
process,
and
families
can
go
to
the
school
sites.
They
do
not
have
to
go
to
the
welcome
center.
That's
usually
more
of
our
newcomer
students
that
really
truly
need
transcript,
translations
etc.
But
that
is
something
we
are
definitely
considering.
Q
Actually
yeah
well,
this
one
is
just
true,
mrs
diane
as
well
miss
diana.
You
said
that
we
have
a
welcoming
center.
Where
is
that
and
who?
Where
and
what?
What
does
that
look
like,
and
where
is
that
at
I'm?
Not
I
I've
heard
you
said
today
in
the
meeting,
and
I
was
wondering
where's
that
at
and
when
you
said,
welcome
in
center.
Who
is
we.
AC
We
meeting
our
district,
it's
for
all
of
us,
it's
for
everyone
who
wants
the
services
any
family
that
would
like
to
register.
They
were
like
assistance,
it
is
the
trailer
outside
in
the
bluffton
and
mccracken
circle.
That
is
our
welcome
center.
That
is
shared
also
with
miss
hutchinson
for
early
childhood
on
wednesdays.
We
share
that
space
with
her
as
well
and
in
beaufort.
It
is
in
the
district
office
right
when
you
come
in
and
you
see
our
receptionist
miss
anna
to
the
right.
AC
We
have
a
room
to
the
left
right
before
we
go
through
the
double
doors
to
come
into
the
district
office
and
that's
our
welcome
center
in
buford
and
that's
on
our
public
webpage.
That's
all
that
information
is
on
the
web
page
and
it's
translated
into
the
five
languages,
etc.
So
all
that
information
is
out
there.
Q
Well,
thank
you
because,
prior
to
you
saying
that
it's
not
someone
else
had
asked
me
about
the
welcoming
center,
I
would
I'm
thinking
about
when
you're
welcome
in
the
south
carolina
not
actually
the
district
having
a
welcoming
center.
So
that's
great
information
for
the
public
to
know
as
as
well.
So
that's
why
I
think
it
was
very
important
to
answer
that
question
and
understand
that
also
I
do
have
one
more.
I
do
have
one
more
one
more.
A
Q
Anything
else,
okay
and
in
terms
of
and
and
in
terms
of
I
I
think
it
was
mr.
Q
Was
the
flowers
we
were
talking
about
about
about
tests?
I
think
it
was
about
testing
and
how
regularly
we
test
the
students.
My
my
question
in
in
in
testing
students
is:
is
there?
Is
there
a
reasoning
or
is
there
something
that's
driven
to
where
we
want
to
test
through
this?
Maybe
tw
twice
a
year,
and
just
trying
to
understand
understand
that
so.
I
I'll
take
that
so
assessments
are
an
integral
part
of
the
instructional
process
of
teaching
and
learning
right.
So,
when
we're
talking
about
formative
assessments,
we're
talking
about
assessments
that
we're
giving
to
check
along
the
way
if
students
are
mastering
the
skills
and
knowledge
of
what
the
standard
requires
of
them
right,
which
is
based
on
what
we
have
just
instructed
upon
right,
and
so
so
we
need
to
sort
of
get
a
check
and
a
feel
about
whether
our
kids
are
getting
this
along
the
way
right.
I
We
don't
want
to
get
to
may
and
then
decide
in
may
that
we'll
look
at
the
results
and
find
that
that
that
that
kids
didn't
master
it
along
the
way
right,
so
that
our
our
teachers
have
a
chance
to
adapt
and
adjust
instruction
along
the
way
to
help
them
master
those
skills
right.
That's
what
formative
assessments
are
about.
I
That's
what
our
interim
benchmark
assessments
are
about
right,
different
checks
along
the
way:
they're
not
taking
tests
every
day
right,
they're,
taking
tests
at
strategic
times
to
check
on
the
mastery
of
what
has
just
been
taught
right,
and
it
is
an
integral
part
of
of
teaching
and
learning
right.
Otherwise,
what
you
end
up
with
is
an
autopsy
report
at
the
end
of
the
year
that
says,
oh
by
the
way
they
didn't
get
it
right
and
there's
no
opportunity
to
adjust
and
correct
course.
I
I
I
Do
we
need
to
go
back
and
do
some
remediation
now
and
because
kids
didn't
get
it
or
those
decisions
are
about,
our
kids
got
it.
We
can
enrich
and
deepen
the
knowledge
that
they've
just
gained
and
mastered
right.
So
research
based
right
and
the
research
shows
that
a
balanced
assessment
system
with
formative,
interim
and
summative
assessments
are
the
way
to
go
in
order
to
help
improve
outcomes
for
kids.
Otherwise,
you
don't
know
to
the
very
end.
It's
too
late.
Q
Right-
and
that
was
part
of
my-
and
that
was
one
of
the
reasons
why
I'm
asking
it-
because
I
see
on
here
where
we
do
have
the
learning
the
learning
gap.
And
so
my
thing
is,
you
know?
How
are
we
going
there's
just
asking
about
testing
to
be
another
tool
in
our
two
belt
to
be
able
to
monitor
that
the
growth
and
development
of
the
learning
of
the
learning
learning
gap.
So
that
was
my
the
my
logic
for
that
right.
I
And
because
what
will
happen
with,
for
example,
with
performance
matters,
when
we
deliver
assessments
through
that,
the
system
will
automatically
do
an
item
analysis
for
our
teachers
on
the
individual
items
on
that
assessment
and
our
students
can
identify
whether
I
mean
our
yes,
our
students,
but
certainly
our
teachers
can
identify
where
students
went
wrong
in
answering
that
question,
so
you
can
tackle
it
at
the
point
of
error
and
and
help
correct
misunderstandings
along
the
way.
I
So,
if
you
can
see
very
easily,
you
know
70
percent
of
my
class
missed
this
question
right,
so
whatever
it
is
about
this
question,
whether
it's
a
high
cognitive
level,
question
requiring
a
lot
more
from
students
think
critically
on
or
or
not
we
can
see
which
ones
they're
missing,
which
ones
they're
not
doing
well
on
and
adjust
instruction
accordingly
to
give
them
more
practice
and
and
and
deeper
learning.
Thank
you.
I
The
next
item
on
here
I
want
to
share
a
little
bit
with
you
is
under
other
matters
I
want
to
before
the
team
heads
out.
I
want
to
say
thank
you
to
all
of
them
for
very
thorough
and
important
presentation
this
evening
to
to
our
board.
Thank
you.
I
Under
other
matters,
I
wanted
to
share
with
you
a
little
bit
about
our
back
to
school
expo.
Last
saturday,
we
held
the
back
to
school
expo
at
ace,
and
we
had
a
tremendous
turnout
at
the
back
to
school
expo.
I
wanna
I
wanna
thank
everyone
who
contributed
to
this
year's
back
to
school,
expo
our
employees,
who
came
out
on
saturday,
including
bus
drivers
who
provided
transportation
for
community
partners
who
donated
their
time
and
school
supplies
and,
of
course,
really
the
hundreds
of
families
that
attended
that
day.
I
I
Parents
have
access
to
different
agencies
or
different
vendors
that
are
available,
that
support
them
or
can't
help
support
them
along
the
way,
with
any
issues
that
may
arise
or
find
that
didn't
have
to
do
be
for
supporting
with
issues
it
can
be
for
for
providing
additional
opportunities
for
for
students
through
other
after-school
type
programs
that
are
available
in
our
community.
So
it
was
quite
a
great
success.
I
We
had
students
that
were
there
ran
across
several
students,
some
of
which
high
school
students
in
particular,
who
were
inquiring
about
a
lot
of
things
that
was
on
their
mind,
not
not
just
the
opening
of
school,
many
of
them
expressing
they
are
ready
to
come
back
right
and
they're
excited
they
miss
their
friends
and
they're
ready
right,
some
of
them
inquiring
about
things
like
the
last
year.
The
board
made
a
modification
to
to
the
required
gpa
around
student
athletes
because
of
kovid.
I
Many
of
them
still
continue
to
experience
some
challenges
around
it.
I
heard
from
from
several
students
along
the
way
who
who
said
that
last
year's
modification
really
helped
them
a
lot
and,
and
you
know
their
connection
to
their
athletics
was
an
important
part
for
them.
In
addition,
I
heard
from
several
students
who
also
said
it
helped
them
to
pull
and
keep
their
gpa
above
a
2.0,
because
their
coaches,
as
part
of
that
modification,
that
the
board
made
were
required
to
monitor
on
a
weekly
basis.
I
One
that
I
didn't
really
think,
but
that
that
weekly
monitoring,
kids,
appreciated
it
and
and
coaches
really
did
that
aspect
of
it,
which
was
which
was
the
key
component
to
it,
and
I
th
or
and
athletic
directors.
So
these
are
students
sharing
information
with
me
at
the
expo.
I
That's
one
of
the
things
I
personally
valued
a
lot
in.
It
was
the
opportunity
to
engage
with
our
kids
and
and
and
adults
that
were
there
robin.
Do
you
have
a
quick
clip.
K
AG
K
AI
K
I
C
P
I
heard
dr
clear
that
last
year's
ocean
spend
that
to
to
support
the
hilton
at
the
high
school
league's
1.0
tpa,
instead
of
our
2.0
gpa,
for
that
period
of
time
was
fairly
effective.
I
I
don't
know
how
we
monitor
it.
That
would
be
a
question
I
I
would
want
many.
C
P
Did
do
that
their
study
halls
and
other
things,
but
obviously
there
is
some
concern
and
I'm
willing
to
make
a
I'd
like
to
make
a
motion
to
extend
it
through
this
year.
D
S
P
Q
If
my
memory
collec
correct,
if
it
was
mentioned
in
something
that
was
brought
up,
and
then
you
took
a
motion
from
that,
then
I
believe
that
that
there's
nothing
right,
there's
that
is
not
within
outside
of
the
boundaries
to
make
a
motion,
because
that
isn't
something
a
subject
that
he
brought
up
and
he
made
emotion
on
it.
So
I
I
believe
that
that
emotion
do
stand.
I
think
that
motion
is
it's
in
order.
G
F
I
Yes,
that
that
that's
fine,
I
mean
some
of
it
teasing
some
of
that
out.
Let
me.
Q
I
was,
I
was
going
to
say
so
I
mean
could,
could
we
well,
I
guess
one
year
one
year
I
mean
my
only
question.
Is
that
would
stop
definitely
stop
the
kids
from
from
participating
in
you
know,
right
now.
That's
you
know
that
that's
that.
Q
P
C
AE
AE
S
I
move
that
we
approve
moving
the
august,
the
board
work
session
august
26
to
september
9th.
G
I'll
be
voting
no
because
that's
I'm
not
available
that
day.
G
A
A
You're
gonna
be
now
I'm
gonna,
be
there
you're
gonna,
be
there
right.
Now,
I'm
gonna
be
there
you're.
I
Okay,
so
the
first
one
is
we
launched
today
our
summer
institute
and
it
was
the
first
time
we've
had
the
summer
institute
and
well.
I've
never
had
it
since
I've
been
here
because
the
first
summer
I
got
here,
we
didn't
have
it
and
then
then
we
didn't
have
two
years.
So
we
we
had
it
this
year
we
had
a
fantastic
turnout.
G
I
And
but
aside
from.
C
AE
I
Assistant
principals,
I
mean
the
whole
system
was
represented
and
probably
over
100
people.
I
think
we're
there
today.
So
it's
a
great
day
and
a
great
great,
showing
that'll
go
on
for
the
next
two
days
over
at
mayor
river
high
school
and
then
the
other
announcement
I
wanted
to
make
is
that
at
that
session
I
announced
the
district
teacher
of
the
year
finalists.
I
That
those
are
kenzie
butler
band
teacher
at
middle
school
justine,
hardy
health
science
teacher
at
battery
creek,
high
school
kerry,
kearns
math
teacher
at
may
river,
high
school
jennifer
lyles,
a
third
grade
teacher
at
koosa
elementary
and
dr
laverne
stewart
language
arts
teacher
at
hilton
middle
school.
R
If
you
would,
please
check
your
emails.
I
sent
supports
of
emails
to
you
on
the
27th
that
preceded
this
and
I'm
asking.
I
read
several
copies
of
this
and
it's
coming
out
of
my
pocket
because
I
still
do
not
have
access
the
flag
is
not
working
out.
I
have
that
laptop.
No
one
can
tell
me
why
my
access
to
my
personal
email
from
school
is
in
has
been
revoked.
No
one
will
tell
me
who
revoked
it.
No
one
will
tell
me
how
I
can
get
it
reinstated.
R
I'm
still
a
beautiful
kind
of
school
district
and
lazy
on
I'm
being
paid
for
this,
but
I
cannot
go
into
the
school.
I've
been
told
not
to
go
there.
School
is
starting
on
for
on
a
couple
weeks,
I'm
sure
I'm
getting
massive
emails
because
I'm
a
part
of
a
parent,
I
don't
have
access
to
them.
I
don't
know.
What's
going
on
I'm
just
kind
of
like
hanging
in
the
balance,
I
would
like
to
there's
a
lot
that
goes
along
with
me.
