Description
The Beaufort County Transportation Committee formulates a county transportation plan to establish aims and goals of the committee, approve the expenditure of “C” Funds in compliance with S.C. Code Ann. §12-28-2740, and make annual reports to the SCDOT of expenditures in accordance with S.C. Code Ann. §12-28-2740(D).
- Meetings are held regularly on the third Wednesday in January, March, May, July, September, and November at 4:00 pm.
- Meetings last approximately two hours.

supplier

risk

supposed

back

about

keep
those
turn
lanes,
but
in
essence
those
turn
lanes.

department
intends
to
take
them
out
unless
there's
extenuating
circumstances,
because
there's
probably,
I
believe,
four
turn
lanes
from
various
directions
coming
on
and
off

buford
rated

breaking
down
just

over
a
three
slightly
less
than
the
overall
average
of
the
secondary
system,
but
still
good
condition.

distress
index

the
payment
serviceability

distress

some
reason
they
had
some
very
low
numbers
on
instead
of

a
scale
of
zero
to
five,
then
0.2
seemed
to
be,

probably

those
roads,
maybe
more
than
that
that
were
the

data

erroneous,
and
so
we
were
able
to
get
updated
data

lined
up

opposite

dug
into
it

little
deeper

fairly
consistent
results
from
both
the
different
surveys,
slightly
different
ways
in
which
we
go
about
doing
the
survey.

applied
prices
that

related
to
those
as
well.
The
ones
in
blue
are
the
ones

we
landed
on
for
use
in
this
for
use
in

In
this
exercise,
and
then
these
recommendations,
predominantly
on
the
scrub
seal,
crack
seal,
a
fox
crack
seal
with
a
fog
seal
to
cover
it
up,
we
would
seal
the
cracks
and
then
essentially
you'd
seal
the
entire
road.

see
the
spider
web
of
of
the
black
crack
seal.
It's
not
all.
It's
probably
the
best
bang
for
your
buck
in
the
world
of
payment
preservation.
But
it's
it's
aesthetically.
It's
not
the
not
very
nice

look

you
can
cover
that
up
with
a
fog
seal
essentially
paint
the
road,
black
and
seal
off
that
entire
surface
from
water
intrusion
and
gives
you
something
else
for
the
the
sun
to
beat
down
on
as
well.

students

seal
is
another
one.

fiscal
year
to
do
routes
that
was
picked
by
the
committee
members
this
year
we're
putting
a
million
dollars

low
adt.

was
the
decision
and
out
years
we're
spending
roughly
a
half
million
on
no
adt
and
a
half
million
on
routes
that
the
committee
members
select
that
they
want
to
see
done
in
their
district.
So
that's
how
this
is
is
set
up.

program
is

up
and,
as
richard
is
saying,
we
got
5.3
million,
which
we
haven't
haven't
seen
it
yet
hasn't
been
transmitted
to
us.
Senator
davis
keeps
telling
us
it's
coming,
but
when
I
talked
with
the
program
manager

still
have
to
spend
27.5
on
state
secondaries
so
of
that
5.3
million.
So
that's
how
we
got
up
the
additional
funds
above
one
million
dollars.

just
take

thin

lift

hot
mix
asphalt
to

roads

worse
condition
and
need
a
lot
of
full
depth
patching

heavier
overlays,

some

mix

and
sun

you
can
do
your
best

keep

roads
sealed
from

biggest
issue
on

lower
cost
treatments

long
ways
here,
so
we're
probably
on
the
conservative
side,
maybe
on
the
low
side
of
the
spectrum,
because
these
are
more
of
an
average

the
you

that
spectrum

get

little
bit

longer
life

of
these
treatments
than
you
would

that
accounts

roughly
five
and
a
half

six
percent
of
our
asphalt.

at

contracts
or

to

that
ultimately

save
you
money
when

curve
goes
back

people

gps

model

grades

slopes

the
extent
of

expertise

worked

and
we
have
a
sonic
ski
system
with
sensors,
that's
essentially
reading
the
road
in
real
time

four
points

foot
distance

it's

screen

the
screen.

it's
pulled
by
the
tractor,
so
the
street
adjusts.

construction

see
the
grading
is
being
done
via

or
gps

lot
of
the
surveying

we

we've
only
really
found
it
useful
for
doing
heavy

surfaces,
we
use
our

sensor
system
in
our

we

electronics,

sensors
on

ski
and
just
to
fine-tune

adjustment

traffic
studies
done

both

those
intersections

dale
webb
seagrass
intersection.
The
traffic
study
showed
there
so
per
the
manual

uniform
traffic
control
devices

warrants
that
you
can
follow
for
the
installation
of
the
traffic
they.
So
as
a
study
was
run,
it
was
it
was
actually
coordinated
by
the
city
of
bluffton.

disallows
left,
turns
off

street
and
allows
a
u-turn
movement
at
a
certain
distance
in
either
direction.

that's

is

what's
being

recommendation

the
traffic
engineer

that
is
what
we're
currently
looking

working
with

aecom,
which
is
the
designer

project

forward

particular

far

tidewatch
there

alterations

intersection

alternatives.

the
really

fastest
improvement
that
we
can
do
there

alter,

an
alteration
to
the
traffic
signals
to
actually
add
left
turns
at
that
particular
intersection.

we're

traffic
engineer
to
see
if
that
is
a
potential
for
implementation.

alternative

would

to
better
align
the
left
turn
so
that

don't
have
the
sight
distance
issue,

difference
in
cost
is

hundred
thousand
versus

40

we'll

a

202
miles
of
beaufort
county
maintained
roadways
saw
its
pavement
conditions
improve
from
a

to
a
b
over
the
last
five
years.
The
county
network
has
never
reviewed,
has
never
been
reviewed.
A
Approximately
60
miles
of
roadway
were
improved
between
2017
and
2021
evaluations,
costing
around
10
million
from
state
gasoline
sales
tax
money.
The
next
five-year
plan
has
about
110
miles
of
road
condition,
improved
at
8.5
million.
According
to
this
year's
work
schedule,
no
roads
will
be
in
a
very
poor
category.

we
know
we
can
get
it
up

an
egg
beaufort
county
hired

consultants
in
2021
to
conduct
a
payment
condition
survey
on
all
county
owned
roads.
Five
years
after
implementing
the
2017
five-year

results

study

transportation
