A
Avid
stands
for
advancement
via
individual
determination.
Avid
has
been
around
for
about
35
years.
It
started
in
one
school
in
California,
with
one
English
teacher
and
has
grown
into
a
system
that
really
trains.
Teachers
supports
students
and
really
looks
at
how
our
entire
school
can
support
all
kids
to
get
ready
for
college
and.
B
I
didn't
think
that
my
child
on
an
IEP
what
the
learning
disability
would
have
been
given
an
opportunity
to
do.
College
prep
helps
me
kind
of
have
a
higher
level
of
thinking
when
I'm
doing
things,
because
I
can
figure
something
out
and
then,
if
I
get
it
wrong,
then
I
can
go
back
and
figure
out
where
I
got
it
wrong
and
they
had
given
her
the
best
tools
for
doing
her
homework
and
getting
things
done
and
getting
planning
and
just
learning
things
on
her
own
interfere.

A
Overwhelmingly
avid
has
really
had
a
great
response
in
the
district,
not
only
for
students
that
are
in
the
avid
elective
class.
Of
course,
they
are
having
a
tremendous
time
in
that
class
and
they're
really
building
community
they're,
doing
activities
that
really
engage
them
in
school
and
get
them
to
all
those
awareness
skills
they
need
around
college
and
parents
love
that
part
of
it,
but
they're
also
building
leadership,
skills
and
really
getting
out
in
the
school
and
doing
activities
and
engaging
in
things
that
connect
them
to
school
that
they
might
not
have
done
otherwise.
Avid
has.
