A
Kindergarten
can
be
such
an
exciting
time
for
your
child.
We
want
to
make
sure
that
your
child
has
a
healthy
start
for
the
kindergarten
program,
pediatricians
like
to
see
your
child
once
a
year
for
a
physical
examination
or
a
well
child
check.
At
this
point
before
kindergarten,
it's
always
recommended
that
they
have
vision,
checked,
hearing,
checked,
dental
hearing
and
vision
are
so
important
for
learning.
If
a
child
is
not
able
to
hear
or
see
material
clearly,
then
that
obviously
impacts
their
learning.
It's
required
by
Oregon
law
for
children
to
have
immunizations
upon
entrance
to
school.
A
The
immunizations
that
children
need
to
have
before
coming
into
kindergarten
are
DTaP,
which
is
diphtheria,
tetanus
and
pertussis,
polio
varicella,
which
is
chickenpox
the
MMR
as
well
as
hepatitis,
B
and
hepatitis
A.
Most
children
have
had
a
series
of
these
immunizations
before
they
arrive
to
kindergarten.
If
you
have
any
questions
regarding
that,
you
can
contact
your
school
nurse
or
your
school
secretary
kindergartners
need
10
to
12
hours
of
sleep
a
night
which
means
that
they
should
be
in
bed
by
7:30,
asleep
by
8:00.
So
that
means
your
bedtime
routine
might
start
at
7
o'clock.
A
It's
important
to
have
breakfast
before
coming
to
school.
With
breakfast
we
have
sustained
concentration,
we
have
greater
ability
to
to
learn
and
we
have
a
greater
capacity
for
memory.
So
a
healthy
breakfast
should
include
protein,
complex,
carbohydrate,
vegetable
or
fruit.
Good
protein
could
be
eggs,
milk
yogurt,
what
your
child
will
eat
best,
so
peanut
butter,
perhaps
a
healthy
start
for
a
kindergartener,
is
important
to
help
provide
a
successful
school
year.
