From YouTube: June 2022 BSD Board Meeting
Description

If this is YOUR meeting, an easy way to fix this is to add a description to your video, wherever mtngs.io found it (probably YouTube).
A
Welcome
everyone
I
called
to
order
the
beaverton
school
board
business
meeting
for
june
21st
2022.
I
want
to
begin
with
a
land
acknowledgement.
I
would
like
to
acknowledge
that
our
district
rests
on
the
traditional
lands
of
the
tualatin
calapuya.
We
thank
the
ancestors
of
the
kalapuliya
for
being
the
original
stewards
and
protectors
of
these
lands.
A
B
A
Okay-
and
I
know
sunita
is
joining
us
via
zoom
tonight
from
from
greece,
and
so
there
may
be
some
issues
with
getting
that
connection.
I
will
check
in
a
little
bit
later,
uganda
and
anaya.
C
A
Okay,
hearing,
none
we're
going
to
start
with
our
community
recognitions
and
our
first
recognition
is
for
jill
mcgovern
and
michelle
solberg
jill
and
michelle
are
you
there
feel
free
to
turn
your
screens
on.
A
Oh
I
see,
sunita
is
joining
us
great,
so
flag
of
learning
and
liberty
for
jill
mcgovern
and
michelle
solberg
in
honor
of
more
than
38
years
of
dedication
to
the
children
of
the
beaverton
school
district,
both
jill
mcgovern
and
michelle
sober
are
being
awarded
the
flag
of
learning
and
liberty.
A
F
G
A
D
D
I've
been
to
many
school
board
meetings,
many
budget
committee
meetings
fighting
for
our
students,
and
I
have
never
doubted
for
a
moment
that
our
school
board
and
our
budget
committees
have
done
everything
they
could
to
do
what
we
we
need
to
do
for
kids
and
for
staff,
and
so
for
that,
I'm
very
grateful.
I
know
that
sometimes
it
feels
very
thankless
to
put
in
all
the
hours
and
time
and
worry
and
sleepless
nights
and
all
the
things
that
are
involved
in
these
big
decisions.
D
But
I
know
that
the
administrators
I've
worked
with
my
co-workers,
the
school
board.
Everyone
is
here
to
do
our
best
for
kids,
so
I
hope
that
we
continue
to
fight
what's
best
for
kids
and
also
celebrate
that
we've
made
it
through
two
of
the
hardest
years
of
my
career.
A
I
just
want
to
know
sunita.
I
think
you
have
just
joined
us.
A
H
So
alex
nikhil
and
rasheed
ashley.
Thank
you,
you
can
you
can
turn
your
cameras
on,
for
your
award
got
one
two
okay,
so
congratulations
to
west
view,
high
school
junior
rasheed
jane,
who
received
the
regeneron
young
scientist
award
of
fifty
thousand
dollars
for
developing
an
all
al-based
model
to
enable
rapid
and
cost-effective
productions
of
drugs
such
as
the
mrna
covid19
vaccines
using
recombinant
dna
technology.
H
So
rasheed
also
won
the
biomedical
engineering
first
place
award
at
the
same
international
science
fair.
Additionally,
sophomore
alex
plekanov
puknavi
from
base
won
the
physics
and
astronomy
first
place
award
of
five
thousand
dollars
and
sophomore
nikhil
nasak
from
sunset.
High
school
won.
The
robotics
and
intelligent
machines.
Third
place
award
of
a
thousand
dollars,
and
these
awards
were
presented
at
the
regeneron
international
science
and
engineering,
fair,
which
draws
students,
student
scientists
from
around
the
world.
H
So
well
done
to
you
and
if
you'd
like
to
say
a
few
words
about
your
projects,
that
would
be
great
and
rasheed,
we'll
start
with
you
and
then
alex
alex
and
and
then
nikio.
I
Hi
good
evening,
everyone
thank
you
for
that
introduction
and
I'm
really
honored
to
be
here
today.
So,
as
was
kind
of
summarized
my
award
at
the
regeneron
international
science
and
engineering
fair
was
received
because
of
the
work
I
did
on
improving
vaccine
manufacturing
with
artificial
intelligence.
I
My
research
essentially
enables
us
to
manufacture
more
recombinant
vaccines
and
pharmaceutical
drugs
for
the
same
amount
of
time
cost
in
plasmid,
which
can
help
save
lives
and
I'm
pleased
to
say
that
as
a
part
of
my
award,
not
only
will
the
oregon
state
science
fair,
be
receiving
a
1
000
fund
from
regeneron,
but
also
my
school
westview
high
will
also
be
receiving
a
1
000
award.
I'm
really
grateful
to
my
mentors
and
my
teachers
and,
of
course,
my
family
for
being
great
sources
of
encouragement
and
I'm
looking
forward
to
my
senior
year
at
westview.
I
This
fall
thanks
again
for
having
me.
H
J
Yeah,
of
course,
so
you
already
introduced
me,
but
my
name
is
nikhil
and
I
represented
team
oregon
at
regeneron,
isaf,
along
with
rishab
alex
and
a
few
others,
and
I'd
just
like
to
take
a
minute
or
two
to
explain
my
project
and
my
project
was
titled
pixel
and
it's
a
novel
method
for
ai-based
compression
using
sub-pixel,
interpolation
and
convolutional
neural
networks.
J
So,
basically,
the
problem
that
I
covered
is
that
millions
of
hours
are
streamed
every
day
across
the
world,
through
phone
calls,
musics
and
even
through
phone
calls
music,
and
even
meetings
such
as
this
one
and
what
I
did
is
I
created
a
codec
called
pixel
which
allows
for
high
quality,
compression
and
decompression
of
audio
at
low
bandwidth
and
to
basically
tackle
what
that
means
is
there's
these
codecs
that
are
used
to
compress
and
decompress
audio.
J
I
bet
a
lot
of
you
guys
are
familiar
with
something
like
mp3
there's,
also
a
set
of
other
codecs
that
are
targeted
for
different
things.
The
main
thing
that
I
covered
is
that
there
are
none
that
target
audio
streaming
and
low
bandwidth.
J
So
what
that
means
is,
for
example,
if
you're
in
a
rural
environment,
where
you
don't
have
very
strong
internet
connection,
if
you're
in,
for
example,
a
school
where
there's
thousands
of
devices
on
one
network
or
also,
if
you're,
if
you
need
to
stream
a
lot
of
audio
like
they're
at
very
high
quality.
There
aren't
any
codecs
that
target
that.
J
So
I
used
ai
as
well
as
subpixel
interpolation,
which
is
a
method
that
I
worked
on
developing
and
what
that
allowed
me
to
do
is
compress
high
quality
audio
at
low
bandwidth,
which
means
using
using
pixel.
You
can
stream
audio
at
24
times
less
data,
while
still
maintaining
the
same
amount
of
quality.
H
It's
just
amazing,
thank
you
so
much
and
it's
great
to
see
our
students
just
thriving
and
and
using
I
mean
just
ways
that
you're
helping
and
improving
our
world.
So
thank
you
so
much
rasheed
and
miguel
and
alex
and
I'll
hand
it
off
back
to
tom.
A
G
K
K
Jason
is
our
cte.
Computer
science
teacher
at
sunset,
high
school
and
rick,
is
a
teacher
on
special
assignment
at
stroller
middle
school
and
both
were
selected
as
one
as
the
high
school
tech
start
technology
educator
of
the
year
and
the
k-6
technology
educator
of
the
year.
This
award
recognizes
educators,
who
have
made
a
sustained
positive
impact
in
the
classroom,
school
and
district
work
to
broaden
technology
learning
among
underserved
and
underrepresented
students,
including
bipoc
rural
and
marginalized.
K
Gender
students
demonstrates
tech,
education,
leadership
and
engagement
beyond
the
classroom
and
finally
uses
innovative
and
successful
teaching
strategies,
and
I'd
also
like
to
point
out
that
jason
was
also
named
as
runner-up
on
the
onpoint
community
credit
union
educator
of
the
year
award.
We
enjoyed
seeing
you
on
the
commercials
and,
on
a
personal
note,
I
want
to
say
jason.
K
Thank
you
so
much
for
inviting
me
to
your
classroom
a
couple
weeks
ago
and
getting
to
see
your
great
work
in
action,
and
I
really
appreciate
your
advocacy
on
behalf
of
your
students
to
make
sure
that
all
students
have
access.
You
run
a
wonderful
program.
So,
gentlemen,
if
either
one
of
you
jason
if
you'd
like
to
start.
If
you
have
any
comments.
L
L
So,
in
addition
to
the
two
things
that
were
just
mentioned,
I
wasn't
able
to
attend
the
onpoint
thing,
because
I
was
at
a
2019
presidential
award
because
they
finally
lifted
the
covered
restrictions
back
in
washington
dc,
and
I
got
him
a
chance
to
meet
teachers
across
the
united
states,
and
I
found
out
that
well
at
sunset,
we're
teaching
one
of
the
best
programs
in
the
u.s
which
made
me
feel
really
proud,
but
it
was
also
a
little
bit
depressing
and
one
of
the
reasons.
Why
is
right?
L
Now
it's
pretty
hard
to
be
a
computer
science
teacher
in
the
district,
we're
in
danger
of
losing
a
lot
of
our
computer
science
teachers,
including
me.
I
am
worried
that
we
are
going
to
have
students
that
are
not
able
to
have
the
skills
they
need
to
enter
the
workforce.
L
I
am
worried
that
next
year,
I'm
likely
to
have
40
and
60
students
on
every
one
of
my
classes
again
and
I'm
worried
that
students
aren't
going
to
have
the
resources
they
need
to
be
able
to
be
successful
in
the
future
because
of
all
the
cyber
security
restrictions,
and
I'm
saying
these
things
not
to
complain,
but
these
are
things
that
we
can
fix
in
the
school
district.
I
think
that
all
of
these
are
choices
that
were
made.
L
L
We
can
have
fewer
than
52
students
on
average
in
a
computer
science
class
and
make
sure
we
don't
miss
those
kids
that
are
falling
through
the
cracks
and
we
can
teach
computer
hardware
with
actual
computer
hardware
instead
of
pencil
and
paper
so
that
they
get
a
real
experience
so,
like
all
of
these
awards,
are
really
nice
recognition
for
the
hard
work
that
I've
done.
But,
to
be
honest,
I'm
in
it
for
the
students
like
when
a
student
comes
up
to
me
eight
years
later
and
tells
me
they
are
more
successful
in
life.
L
Because
of
the
classes
they
took
for
me,
that
is
a
way
better
reward
than
any
of
these
things
that
was
just
mentioned.
So
I
really
look
forward
to
hearing
all
of
you
come
up
with
better
solutions
for
all
of
the
students
and
I'd
love
to
come
up
with
solutions
for
you
with
you.
Thank
you.
M
Sure
yeah,
so
I
you
know
at
stoller
we
kind
of
have
a
little
bit
of
the
same
thing,
but
I
guess
what
I
wanted.
I
I
agree
with
what
jason
said
too,
with
class
size
and
and
stuff
like
that,
and
hopefully
we
can
get
the
the
schedule
ironed
out
so
that
it's
a
little
a
little
easier
in
middle
school.
M
But
what
I,
what
I
wanted
to
do
is
take
my
time
really
to
thank
a
lot
of
the
people
that
you
know,
there's
so
many
people
and
so
many
educators
with
the
last
couple
of
years.
That
really
deserve
it,
and
I
just
wanted
to
thank
them.
Real,
quick,
dr
ethan
lowenstein
who's.
M
Now
the
semis
coalition
and
amanda
rossman
we're
now
she's
now
at
the
gracely
boggs
school
in
detroit
for
being
awesome,
mentors
and
role
models
and
showing
what
it
means
to
be
a
real
anti-registered
racist,
anti-racist
educator
across
all
subject:
areas:
sean
patrick
higgins,
who's,
my
partner
in
harvard's,
scratch
ed
for
being
a
great
partner
in
innovating
computer
science
and
really
trying
to
find
ways
to
engage
all
students,
kristin
mccartney,
danny
briggs
and
sam
warren.
M
For
being
great
colleagues
and
trying
to
figure
out
how
to
bring
this
common
middle
school
experience
to
life
for
computer
science
and
veronica
galvan
and
john
palpinski
for
being
such
amazing
supporters
of
instructional
innovation
in
our
district,
and
I
hope
that
as
a
board,
you-
and
I
know
how
hard
it
is,
because
my
mom
is
a
school
board
person
as
well
to.
M
I
hope
you
all
continue
to
support
leaders
who
support
instructional
innovation
in
computer
science
to
be
interesting
and
inclusive
for
all
students,
so
really
trying
to
figure
out
how
you
know
we
can
keep
jason
and
I
jason-
and
I
here
and
and
being
able
to
to
really
engage
students.
Because
really
that's
that's
what
we're
all
here
for
like
yeah!
That's
the
fun
thing.
A
Right,
lastly,
we
want
to
recognize
leslie
rogers,
a
student
services
teacher
on
special
assignment
who
leads
the
district
flight
team.
The
flight
team
is
composed
to
train
counselors
social
workers
and
school
psychologists
who
respond
to
crises
and
tragedies
throughout
the
district.
Unfortunately,
this
team
has
been
deployed
to
schools
21
times
since
last
august.
A
The
flight
team's
work
brings
a
sense
of
calm
and
carrying
to
situations
that
often
polarize,
isolate
or
shock
communities.
Thank
you,
leslie,
and
the
entire
flight
team
for
your
dedication
and
support
when
our
students,
staff
and
families
need
it
most,
and
I
just
want
to
say
it.
It's
incredibly
comforting
to
know
that
you
are
there
for
our
community,
sometimes
as
board
members.
A
We
get
calls
about
things
that
are
happening
in
real
time
and
often
those
calls
end
with
with
don
letting
us
know
that
the
flight
team
is
going
to
be
there
to
support
our
community
and
our
students
and
and
that's
incredible,
some
of
the
the
really
most
difficult
things
we've
dealt
with
this
school
year
would
have
been
so
much
worse
without
you
guys.
So
we
appreciate
it
very
much,
and
would
you
like
to
say
a
few
words.
N
You
know
I
was
trying
to
decide
what
to
say,
because
it's
it's
an
honor
to
be
recognized,
and
it
also
comes
because
we've
had
so
many
tragedies
this
year,
our
flight
team
for
the
last
eight
years
since
I
started
my
job
and
then
my
predecessor
before
me
responded
to
really
really
tough
challenges
and
tough
tragedies
every
single
year,
but
this
year
has
been
unique
and
I
think
you
know
with
it
being
the
hardest
year
of
most
people's
career
and
then
on
top
of
that,
having
some
of
the
the
tragedies
that
we've
had
be
be
particular
particularly
traumatic,
especially
this
spring.
N
I
just
want
to
say
that
it's
an
honor
to
get
that
call
and
it's
an
honor
to
be
able
to
show
up
and
help
people
and
stand
alongside
principals
to
try
to
be
reassuring
and
and
try
to
help
guide
that
work.
I
I
just,
I
really
appreciate
being
able
to
be
a
partner,
and
I
also
want
to
say
that
I'm
just
one
person
there's
a
whole
team
of
people
that
work
with
me
that
respond
to
my
text
at
10
pm
that
will
get
on
the
phone
with
me.
N
So
I
can
have
my
quick
one
or
two
minute
freak
out
when
I
first
get
those
calls.
My
family
is
very
supportive
of
that
as
well.
They
they
know
what
that's
like,
and
I
think
the
most
important
thing
that
I
that
I
want
people
to
hear
is.
N
That
is
the
why
we
do
fly
team
with
all
of
with
all
of
the
things
that
have
happened
these
last
couple
of
years
with
all
of
the
politics
with
all
of
the
contention
and
tension
and
finger,
pointing
and
just
pain
that
people
have
experienced
flight
team
is
about
showing
up
when
bad
things
happen.
N
People
that
show
up
for
flight
team
people
that
show
up
to
help
and
people
that
are
in
the
crisis.
All
of
that
surface
stuff
get
gets,
gets
really
stripped
away
and
people
just
show
up
with
their
whole
hearts.
My
my
favorite
thing
is
after
when
we're
leaving
a
school,
maybe
it's
the
second
day,
maybe
it's
the
third
day
and
a
counselor
will
walk
up
to
me
and
say
leslie
next
year.
I
want
to
join
flight
team,
because
that
is
the
spirit
of
the
work.
N
A
Okay,
next
we're
going
to
hear
from
our
association
partners.
I
think
we
have
lindsay
ray
here,
president
of
the
beaverton
education
association.
O
Work,
that's
better!
Thank
you
so
much
good
evening,
chair,
colette,
superintendent,
grotting
and
members
of
the
board.
My
name
is
lindsay
ray.
I'm
a
high
school
math
teacher
and
the
president-elect
of
the
beaverton
education
association
I'll
be
officially
taking
office
as
bea
president
on
july,
10th
filling
some
very
big
shoes
left
behind
by
our
outgoing
president.
O
O
I
hope
that
we
can
all
find
some
time
to
rest
in
earnest
and
spend
time
with
friends
and
family
during
the
summer
months,
as
we
look
forward
to
next
year.
That's
right,
I'm
already
thinking
about
next
year,
I'm
feeling
both
hopeful
and
cautious,
I'm
hopeful,
because
we
recently
ratified
a
collective
bargaining
agreement
that
I
truly
believe
is
a
benefit
to
everyone
involved,
including
our
students,
I'm
very
excited
to
see
those
agreements
implemented
in
the
coming
years.
O
I
also
want
to
encourage
all
of
us
to
move
into
the
next
year
with
caution.
We
have
learned
so
many
lessons
this
year
and
I
hope
we
will
take
into
account
the
things
we
have
learned
as
we
forge
ahead
as
decisions
are
being
made
by
this
body
and
by
district
leadership.
I
hope
that
we
will
remember
the
importance
of
centering
our
students
seeking
out
educator
voice
and
recognizing
the
realities
in
our
schools
and
classrooms.
O
We
also
have
an
obligation
to
ensure
that
staff
have
ample
resources
and
times
to
do
just
that.
I'm
hopeful
to
establish
a
strong
working
relationship
with
the
board
and
incoming
district
leadership
in
the
coming
months
to
ensure
that
bea
is
a
trusted
and
active
partner.
In
this
work,
thank
you
all
for
all
of
your
work
this
year,
I
know
it's,
it's
not
easy.
Being
a
member
of
the
school
board,
I
look
forward
to
working
with
you
in
the
fall
and,
in
the
meantime,
have
a
wonderful
and
restful
summer.
A
A
I
want
to
note
that
we've
received
13
written
public
comments
board
members
appreciate
your
comments
and
thank
each
and
every
one
of
you
for
taking
the
time
to
share
your
thoughts
with
us.
Thank
you
for
attending
the
school
board
meeting
with
us
today.
We're
truly
grateful
for
your
presence
and
the
opportunity
to
receive
your
input.
A
One
of
our
district's
greatest
strengths
is
community
involvement.
As
we
know,
your
involvement
comes
from
a
place
of
caring
for
our
students,
families,
community
and
staff
folks,
who
are
coming
here
tonight
to
provide
us
with
testimony
over
zoom.
A
A
We
ask
that
all
present
model
respectful
behavior
to
provide
an
open
space
in
which
a
variety
of
viewpoints
and
perspectives
can
be
shared.
With
that
in
mind,
a
few
guidelines,
our
comments
do
not
allow
for
the
specific
naming
of
school
personnel.
Personnel
matter
should
be
dealt
with
either
through
the
complaint
process
or
by
contacting
a
principal
or
central
office
staff
if
a
school
personnel
is
named
during
a
comment
period,
I
will
stop
your
comments
and
ask
you
to
refrain
from
naming
the
person
if
it
occurs.
A
A
Everyone
has
two
minutes
to
provide
testimony
to
the
board.
A
timer
will
be
set
and
will
go
off
at
the
two
minute
mark.
If
you
continue
talking
beyond
the
two
minutes,
I
will
ask
you
to
end
your
comments
to
ensure
fair
treatment
for
all
commenters.
This
will
be
enforced
uniformly,
regardless
of
the
subject
matter,
point
of
view
or
whether
you
have
finished
your
prepared
comments.
A
A
I
think
the
first
person
up
is
rush.
Russell
okamoto
russell.
Are
you
with
us?
I
am
okay
great.
Let
me
know
when
you're
ready
to
start
and
I'll
I'll
get
the
timer
going.
P
I'm
ready
all
14
homes,
inviting
the
oak
hills
elementary
school
property
line,
as
well
as
other
neighbors
support
a
signed
petition
in
opposition
to
a
school
fence.
Many
homeowners
are
also
parents
of
students.
Here
are
their
comments,
devalues
my
property
in
the
community
and
does
not
help
the
children
I
will
be
trapped.
We
are
completely
opposed
to
this.
This
will
hurt
the
community
and
does
not
make
things
safer.
P
Eight
homeowners
are
80
plus
years
of
age,
so
their
fears
about
personal
safety
due
to
entrapment
by
the
fence,
are
accentuated
by
ambulatory
challenges,
limiting
their
ability
to
escape
danger,
for
example,
fire
or
intrusion
by
egressing
from
their
backyards.
Nearly
every
homeowner
has
a
fence
that
opens
onto
the
field.
These
fences
will
no
longer
be
usable.
P
Many
fences
are
below
six
feet,
so
a
chain
link
school
fence
will
be
a
blight
on
their
backyard
views
for
the
two
japanese
american
families,
mine
included
with
members
and
relatives
who
were
imprisoned
behind
fences
unjustly
during
world
war
ii.
The
school
fence
will
be
an
un
unconscionable
persistent
reminder
of
this
atrocity.
P
In
summary,
bsd
is
spending
taxpayer
money
without
public
input
on
a
school
border
wall
that
will
create
a
false
sense
of
security,
imprison
students,
trap
elderly
residents,
corrupt
the
landscape
of
a
planned
community
listed
on
the
national
registry
of
historic
places,
lower
home
values
and
re-intern,
japanese,
american
homeowners.
Thank
you.
Q
Good
evening
my
name
is
jennifer
clark,
I'm
the
parent
of
two
students
at
sunset,
high
school.
Thank
you
for
allowing
me
to
address
you
this
evening.
Violence
in
the
u.s
is
on
the
rise,
including
gun,
violence
and
discipline
issues
in
our
schools.
Our
kids
are
not
all
right.
They're
experiencing
immense
pressure
in
life
and
many
are
ill
adjusted
coming
out
of
coveted
lockdown.
Q
Q
There
are
54
schools
in
the
beaverton
school
district,
only
11
school
resource
officers
and
a
director
of
safety,
who
is
a
department
of
one
beaverton
residents,
recently
approved
measure
34313,
providing
funding
for
health
safety
and
technology
upgrades.
I
voted
for
the
bond
issue
because
I
believe
security
needs
to
be
upgraded.
A
district-wide
safety
audit
should
be
the
first
priority.
Q
The
department
of
homeland
security
offers
a
free
security
self
audit
to
the
district
which
they
could
start
with.
There
are
low
cost
measures
which
could
be
implemented
this
summer,
for
example,
adding
open
door
alarms
to
exterior
doors,
kids
and
teachers
prop
open
doors.
All
the
time
open
door
alarms
are
very
effective
at
curbing
this
behavior.
Q
Another
suggestion
is:
beaverton
has
a
very
diverse
student
body.
Some
students
may
distrust
uniformed
officers,
even
though
students
who
aren't
suspicious
still
wonder
what's
going
on
who's
in
trouble.
If
the
sros
spent
non-emergency
time
getting
to
know
the
kids,
students
would
be
more
likely
to
talk
to
them
and
kids
see
everything.
Q
A
Thank
you.
If
there's
anything
you
want
to
send
to
us
in
an
email
or
in
writing,
we'd
be
happy
to
receive
that.
A
R
Yep
oops.
R
Hi,
my
name
is
rebecca.
I
am
a
homeowner
in
oak
hills,
I'm
a
small
business
owner
who
practices
psychotherapy
via
telehealth,
which
allows
me
to
work
from
home.
I'm
a
single
parent
of
a
10
year
old,
who
attends
oak
hills
elementary
school
silas
hops,
our
fence,
which
stands
low
at
three
feet
or
goes
through
the
back
gate
to
and
from
school
each
time.
He
ventures
outside
the
field
behind
our
house
and
the
school
playground
are
an
extension
of
our
backyard.
R
R
I
was
shocked
when
I
learned
bsd's
plans
to
enclose
the
school
property
with
a
six-foot,
chain-link
fence,
even
more
shocked.
When
I
learned,
the
six-foot
fence
would
be
placed
up
against
my
three-foot
fence,
with
my
gate,
no
longer
being
usable,
which
is
an
essential
safety
need
shocked
again,
that
these
plans
were
underway
without
the
community's
knowledge,
nor
the
national
registry
procedures
followed,
nor
with
regards
to
bsd's
own,
we
collaborate
pillar,
I've
yet
to
find
research
that
supports
fences
rather,
fences
keep
people
trapped
physically
and
emotionally
controlled.
R
A
chain-link
fence
is
aesthetically
displeasing
and
will
negatively
impact
property
value,
which
is
significant.
As
my
home
is
my
emergency
financial
plan.
In
sum,
enclosing
oak
hills,
elementary
school
property
with
the
chain-link
fence
will
directly
and
consequently
impact
my
physical,
emotional,
social,
financial
and
even
spiritual
well-being.
R
A
Thank
you
rebecca
our
next
commenter
sofia.
I
don't
think
she
has
joined
us,
I'm
just
going
to
pause
here
for
a
second
in
case.
Sophie
has
joined
us
okay,
and
we
will
move
on
to
the
next
part
of
the
board
agenda,
which
is
the
superintendent
update.
S
Thank
you,
chair
clip
members
of
the
ward
staff
community.
First
thing
I
want
to
talk
about
is
later
tonight.
The
board
will
consider
approving
our
2022-23
budget
and
just
want
a
big
shout
out
to
our
budget
committee,
who
is
made
up
of
with
board
members
and
also
just
want
to
thank
our
business
department,
assistant
superintendent,
michael
schofield,
and
his
entire
staff
are
putting
this
together.
It's
a
very
complex
budget,
with
lots
of
unknowns
and
various
types
of
funding.
S
So
we'll
look
forward
to
you
approving
that
budget
and
getting
getting
on.
Also,
I
think,
lindsay
ray
talked
a
little
bit
about
bargaining.
S
I
want
to
thank
both
bargaining
teams,
both
at
the
administer
on
the
administration,
side
and
bea,
for
us
being
able
to
come
to
an
acceptable
agreement,
and
I
don't
think
sarah's
here,
but
I
want
to
thank
sarah
for
her
service
as
union
president
over
the
several
years
that
she
served
and
so
wish
her
the
best,
and
we
are
very
optimistic
with
our
classified
bargaining
and
our
substitute
bargaining
and
moving
forward
that
we
come
to
agreement.
I
believe
we
have
some
dates
set
in
the
near
future
for
our
both
classified
and
substitute.
S
S
We've
heard
a
lot
about
safety
tonight,
and
this
bond
has
several
resources
that
are
going
to
increase
the
safety
to
our
students,
staff
and
community,
as
well
as
address
some
seismic
issues,
technology
issues,
curriculum
issues,
basic
basic
repair
and
maintenance
of
our
schools
and,
of
course,
the
replacement
of
beaverton
high
school
and
raleigh
hills
elementary
school.
So,
once
again,
thank
you
for
the
boar
to
the
voters
and
beaverton
school
district
for
supporting
our
students
last
board
meeting.
S
We
talked
about
how
our
communications
department
really
cleaned
up
on
oregon
awards
and
well
it
didn't
stop
there.
They,
we
were
awarded
a
national
award
by
the
national
school
public
relations
association
for
their
let's
be
bsd
campaign.
So
big
congratulations
to
our
communications
department
and
I
want
to
also
you
know.
Thank
our
and
congratulate
our
high
school
graduates.
S
S
They
went
through
our
elementary
schools,
they
went
through
our
middle
schools
and
went
through
our
high
school
and
they
were
able
to
graduate
and
they're
ready
to
go
on
with
the
next
part
of
their
lives,
and
that
really
comes
from
a
lot
of
efforts
of
our
certified
folks,
our
classified
so
folks
administrators
support
staff,
and
it
also
comes
for
the
governor
from
the
governance
of
this
board.
In
looking
down
the
road.
I
was
fortunate
to
be
at
some
graduations.
S
I
was
there
with
sunita,
ghana,
susan
and
becky,
and,
yes,
it
was
raining
in
many
events
and
it
was
cold
and
the
wind
was
blowing.
But
you
know
what,
if
you
just
think
a
couple
years
ago,
we
couldn't
have
graduations,
and
these
kids
really
didn't
care.
If
they
were
in
the
rain,
they
didn't
care.
S
S
And
finally,
this
is
my
last
board
meeting
and
I'll
be
retiring,
and
I
just
really
want
to
I'm
going
to
try
to
get
through
this.
I
want
to
thank
this
community.
I
want
to
thank
this
school
board,
both
present
and
past
for
number
one.
Given
me
the
opportunity
to
be
the
superintendent
in
the
best
school
district
in
oregon,
I
mean,
truly,
I
don't
think
people
realize
what
you
have
here
it
is.
S
It
is
something
special
when
you
get
a
community
that
supports
education
to
the
degree
that
it
does
has
very
high
expectations,
but
our
staff
deliver
on
those
expectations.
S
S
S
If
I
had
one
thing
to
say
or
a
couple
things
to
say,
I'd
just
like
to
say:
keep
it
always
keep
it
about
the
kids.
I
think
sometimes
we
get
in
these
big
organizations
and
it
starts
being
more
about
the
adults
than
it
does
the
kids
and
if
you
can
go
home
and
lay
your
head
down
on
your
pillow
and
said
that
it's
decisions
that
you
made,
whether
it's
a
superintendent,
a
teacher
in
a
classroom,
a
nutrition
specialist
or
whatever
your
job
is,
and
you
you
can
say.
S
A
Next
up
we
got
the
financial
update
from
assistant
superintendent,
scofield.
T
Thank
you,
chair
collette
members
of
the
board.
Superintendent
grotting
appreciate
the
opportunity
to
go
over
our
financial
report.
For
the
month.
You
see
the
usual
suspects
of
reports
on
your
agenda,
the
revenue
and
expenditure
section
teachers
both
in
the
general
fund
and
local
option
levy
and
our
investment
reports.
So
those
are
fairly
unchanged.
I'll,
take
a
little
bit
of
time
and
talk
about
the
general
fund
activity
and
forecast,
not
a
lot
of
change
to
the
ending
fund
balance.
T
We
did
lower
our
revenue
assumption
a
little
bit
and
we
also
lowered
our
expenditure
assumption
just
a
little
bit
but
other
than
that.
Not
much
change.
Significant
change
is
likely
to
occur
since
we
were
able
to
get
settlements.
T
We
get
settlement
with
the
bea
and
the
implications
of
getting
that
payroll
out
last
friday,
and
that's
all
I
have
on
the
finance
report
for
this
month.
I'll
take
any
questions
you
might
have.
A
Thank
you
mike
for
your
your
work
this
year,
this
was
an
incredibly
difficult
year
with
lots
of
different
things
happening
on
the
revenue
front
and
the
expenditure
front,
and
we
we
appreciate
your
diligent
work
month
after
month,
providing
us
with
accurate
information
so
that
we
can
make
good
decisions,
not
just
for
the
here
and
now,
but
for
for
years
down
the
road
and
very
much
appreciated.
A
Okay,
next
up
we
have
discussion
items
and
the
first
one
is
acceptance
of
election
results.
Becky.
Are
you
going
to
be
leading
us
in
that
or
do
we
have
a
staff
person.
T
I
can
do
that
churchill
if
you'd
like
I,
it
looks
like
my
name's
signed
and
it
looks
like
actually
I'm
dominating
the
agenda
tonight.
That's
not
my
intention,
but
we'll
work
our
way
through
it.
This
is
just
to
summarize
what
we've
received
from
both
washington,
county
and
multnomah
county
on
the
election
results,
and
you
do
not
need
to
take
action
at
this
time.
This
shows
up
again
in
your
consent
agenda,
where
you
will
actually
accept
the
results.
It
is
certainly
as
superintendent
groudon
grouding
mentioned
earlier.
T
G
H
A
Thank
you
for
the
clarification
glad
it
passed
sad
to
hear
about
multnomah
county,
any
other
questions
or
comments
from
mike.
A
We
will
look
forward
to
seeing
this
as
a
an
action
item
in
the
future
and
we
can
accept
the
results
I
think
in
our
next
meeting
and
mike.
I
think
your
our
next
item
up
the
bond
authorization.
T
Here
we
go
again
so
again
as
a
result
of
the
election
measure
34313,
we
are
ready
to
issue
some
bonds
to
get
going
on
some
of
the
projects
that
we
have
prepared
and
part
of
that
is
this
authorizing
resolution
that
you
have
before
you
tonight.
We
we
plan
on
actually
selling
bonds
next
week.
T
I
don't
know
if
you
recall,
we
set
out
a
preliminary
official
statement
that
kind
of
gave
you
the
demographics
of
the
district
kind
of
what
the
bond
pricing
might
look
like
and
some
of
the
overall
financial
information
of
the
district.
So
this
resolution
is
required
so
that
we
can
go
out
and
issue
debt
and
get
some
money
in
so
that
capital
projects
group
can
get
to
work
and
again,
no
action
required
here.
It'll
be
in
your
consent,
agenda,
okay,
questions.
H
Right,
I
sent
some
questions
and
he
already
answered,
but
it
was
around
like
just
the
wondering,
with
the
interest
rates
going
up
so
high
now.
I
know
that
that's
an
impact
overall
in
the
community,
so
just
knowing
that
that's
going
to
impact
some
of
how
the
the
final
numbers,
I
guess,
as
we
sell
and
buy
things,
but
just
pointing
that
out.
T
Yeah
we'll
issue
the
debt
as
planned,
but
you're
right,
the
the
typically
what
we
use
when
we
when
we
look
at
issuing
debt
like
ours
on
a
capital
construction
bond,
is
it's
kind
of
tied
to
the
10-year
treasury
rate
and
that
10-year
treasury
rate
has
gone
up
significantly
to
what
you
were
looking
at
back
in
january.
We'll
watch
it
closely
and
again
we're
going
to
only
issue
part
of
the
debt
in
this
first
round.
H
Yeah
something
else
you
taught
me
was
around
the
that
we
sell
part
of
it
now,
because
we
need
to
start
the
work,
but
we
can't
sell
all
because
there's
a
certain
time
limit
that
you
have
to
spend
it,
and
so,
since
the
projects
are
so
big
that
we
we
sell
part
of
it
now
and
then
get
the
projects
going
and
then
kind
of
time
it
so
that
we
can
finish
off
the
other
project.
So
that
was
new
learning
for
me.
A
A
Okay,
we
will
move
into
the
action
items.
Then.
The
first
action
item
is
the
election
of
the
school
board
chair
and
co-chair
and
we're
going
to
start
with
the
election
of
the
school
board
chair.
So,
do
I
hear
a
motion
for
individual
to
appoint
for
the
school
board
chair
uganda.
C
So
I
would
like
to
nominate
mr
tom
collette
to
continue
to
be
the
school
board
chair
since
joining
the
board.
I
have
watched
tom
display
such
leadership
skills
with
so
much
integrity,
honesty,
transparency
and
strong
character,
and
he
has
courageously
led
us
through
unprecedented
and
volatile
times,
and
he
continues
to
do
so.
That
said,
it
is
my
pleasure
to
nominate
tom
collette
to
continue
to
be
the
squad
voucher.
A
Thank
you,
ogana
susan.
A
It's
been
properly
moved
and
seconded
any
discussion
from
the
board.
G
K
I
just
want
to
say
what
a
pleasure
it
has
been
to
be
tom's
vice
chair
this
past
year
and
and
the
leadership
that
he's
shown
in
the
hard
work.
I
think
most
of
us
recognize
it
takes.
K
It
takes
a
lot
of
extra
hours
to
to
wrangle
all
of
us
throughout
the
school
year
and
be
the
face
of
the
district,
and
I
just
fully
support
tom
and
he
kind
of
takes
a
year
to
kind
of
learn
the
job
and
now
he's
very
experienced
and
will
be
able
to
lead
us
next
year.
But
thank
you
tom
and
fully
appreciate,
appreciate
all
the
work
you've
done
and
look
forward
to
supporting
you
next
year.
H
Yeah,
I
just
wanted
to
second
that
as
well.
I
just
have
been
very
thankful
to
have
your
leadership
and
to
have
you
kind
of
bringing
the
new
board
members
on
board
and
answering
our
many
questions
and
kind
of
showing
us
the
ropes
and
the
processes
that
we
follow
on
the
board.
So
that's
been
super
helpful
coming
in
as
a
new
board
member.
So
thank
you.
A
Thanks
karen
any
other
comments
or
questions
from
the
board,
okay,
I
will
move
to
vote
then.
So
when
I
call
your
name,
you
can
answer
I
or
name
susan
greenberg,.
F
G
A
Hi
becky
aye
tom
collette,
I
vote
I,
the
motion
passes
unanimously,
thanks
ed
look
forward
to
serving
as
your
chair
next
year.
A
I
think
next
we'll
move
to
the
election
of
the
vice
chair
and
do
I
hear
a
motion
for
border
fight?
Oh
susan.
B
I
move
nominee
karen
perez
as
vice
chair
of
our
school
board,
and
if
I
may
make
a
few
comments
about
karen
or
do
we
need
to
have
a
second
first.
A
I
I
think
we
need
to
have
a
second,
but
I'll
come
back
to
you
once
we
once
we
do
that
this
will
be.
Our
first
comment.
Do
I
hear
a
second.
K
A
B
Well,
I
just
want
to
comment
that
I'm
very
excited
that
karen
would
like
to
take
a
leadership
role
on
our
school
board.
She
certainly
has
taken
leadership
roles
in
her
professional
life
and
I
think
it's
fabulous
that
she
has
already
been
part
of
the
osea
bargaining
and
the
student
advisory
committee,
as
well
as
being
part
of
the
equity
through
the
board
school
board
lens,
as
well
as
her
passion
for
equity
in
our
schools,
for
our
children
as
well.
B
C
I
just
want
to
say
thank
you
to
karen
for
stepping
up
to
do
this.
She
has
shown
herself
a
bold
and
fearless
leader
leading
most
of
our
committees,
giving
a
lot
of
her
time
to
champion
some
of
the
committees
that
we
have,
and
I
want
to
say
thank
you
for
stepping
up
to
take
on
this
additional
leadership
role.
Thank
you.
G
U
A
Sunita
you
took
a
little
bit
of
what
I
was
going
to
say.
I
really
have
appreciated
getting
to
know
you
karen
and
your
amazing
knowledge
of
education.
It's
it's
incredible
to
work
alongside
you
and
to
understand
and
learn
from
you
and
I
I
agree
100
with
sunita
that
you
put
the
kids
first
when
we're
talking
about
decision
making
and
appreciate
some
of
your
creative
thinking
and
ways
to
help
move
this
district
forward.
A
So
I'm
I'm
very
much
looking
forward
to
serving
with
you
in
board
leadership
next
year
and
with
that,
let's
take
a
vote
here.
So
susan
greenberg.
A
Great
okay,
so
net.
Their
next
item
is
adoption
of
the
2022-2023
budget
resolution.
Do
I
hear
a
motion
to
adopt
the
budget
resolution.
B
I
haven't
looked
at
the
words,
but
I
moved
to
adopt
the
budget
resolution.
Is
there
something
particular
I'm
supposed
to
read
or
is
it.
T
I
think
it's
okay,
director
greenberg,
to
adopt
the
resolution
as
presented
by
staff.
A
It
has
been
properly
moved
and
seconded
any
questions
or
comments
on
the
matter.
A
K
I
will
be
voting
yes
on
this
budget.
I
appreciate
all
of
the
work
of
the
budget
committee.
I've
been
over
the
seven
years,
several
of
us
that
have
been
on
the
board
a
while.
We've
know
how
hard
it
is
when
we
have
to
submit
a
budget
and
pass
a
budget
where
we've
made
cuts
and
that's
a
lot
harder
to
do,
and
I
appreciate
with
the
staff's
good
work
and
with
the
budget
committee
that
that's
not
the
budget
that
we
will
be
voting
on
tonight.
K
H
I'd
like
to
thank
all
of
our
staff
for
putting
this
together
and
knowing
that
we're
centering
students
and
it's
I've,
appreciated
mike's
work
on
this
too,
and
the
clarity
of
it
and
answering
questions
as
we
have
them
always
being
straightforward
in
that
work
and
making
sure
it's
clear
to
us
and
then,
as
questions
come
up,
you
know
for
from
our
community
he's
open
and
always
willing
to
answer
those
as
well.
So
thank
you.
A
I
just
want
to
echo
the
appreciation
for
associate
superintendent
scofield
you've
done
an
incredible
job
since
you've
joined
us
with
the
budgets
and
helping
keep
us
on
track,
not
just
in
the
here
or
now,
but
looking
forward
to
make
sure
that
these
budgets
are
good
for
kids
down
the
f
down
the
next
year,
next
biennium
and
so
forth.
It's
much
appreciated
your
work
on
this
and
thank
you
for
always
being
there
to
help
answer
the
questions
from
the
board
and
from
the
budget
committee,
the
transparency,
the
ability
to
look
into
this
budget.
T
A
Right
we
will
take
a
vote,
then
board
members
answer
iron,
a
susan
greenberg.
O
H
U
U
A
Okay.
The
next
item
is
the
budget
calendar
for
2023
2024..
Do
I
hear
a
motion
to
adopt
the
budget
calendar.
B
Sorry
I
moved
to
adopt
the
budget
calendar.
A
It's
been
properly
moved
and
seconded
any
comments
from
board
members.
A
Okay,
great,
then
we
will
take
a
vote
board.
Members
answer
I
ordnay
susan
greenberg.
G
U
A
The
next
item
is
the
behavioral
health
and
wellness
project
team
phase,
one
adoption
which
we
had
presented
to
us
at
our
last
board
meeting.
Do
I
hear
a
motion
to
adopt
the
behavioral
health
and
wellness
project
team
phase?
One
adoption.
B
It's
funny,
I
don't
see
that
on
our
agenda,
I
moved
to
adopt
phase
one
of
the
behavioral
health
and
emotional
curriculum.
I
may
have
said
that
wrong.
Sorry.
A
H
Think,
just
as
as
I
kind
of
mentioned
before
la
in
our
last
meeting,
it'd
be
great
to
have
members
from
bilingual
schools
and
our
multilingual
department
to
make
sure
that
this
great
curriculum
that
we're
going
to
be
choosing
will
have
be
accessible
to
our
multilingual
learners
and
to
our
students
in
our
various
school
language
programs
and
just
looking
at
the
accessibility
of
it
for
students.
K
I
just
want
to
say
I
will
be
voting
yes
on
this
adoption,
and
I
want
to
thank
staff.
This
was
a
big
undertaking.
It
is
not
some
place.
K
We've
just
landed,
it's
going
to
be
a
work
in
progress,
but
it
was
work
that
needed
to
get
started,
and
I
think
it
has
made
a
huge
difference
for
our
students,
especially
at
a
time
when
we
will
be
recuperating
learning
after
this
worldwide
pandemic
and
the
social
and
emotional
and
the
mental
health
of
our
students
is
is
primary,
but
I
think
it's
just
also
a
way
for
our
students
to
to
feel
that
they
matter
and
that
they're
heard
and
really
appreciate
all
the
work
that
the
staff
has
done
on
this.
C
Yes,
I
wanna,
I
wanna.
Second,
what
becky
said.
I
just
wanna
thank
the
team,
and
this
is
another
indication
that
the
mental
health
residence
is
a
top
priority
and
I'm
looking
forward
to
seeing
how
this
program
this
project
would
impact
our
students.
I
hope
to
hear
success
stories
about
this
project.
G
U
U
So
I'm
I'm
very
happy
that
this
is
happening
in
our
schools
and
to
second,
what
yoga
said
that
I
hope
that
the
success
or
the
challenges
are
somehow
tracked
and
measured
so
that
it
can
be
conveyed
to
the
board
so
that
if
there
is
any
changes
that
needs
to
be
made
or
if
you
want
to
make,
you
know
more
funding
available
or
try
to
see
how
we
can
make
it
better
for
our
students
in
the
future,
because
the
need
is
there.
Thank
you.
A
B
I
well
I
am
going
to
echo
what
everybody
says,
but
I
I
also
want
to
point
out
that
mental
health
has
been
a
really
important
advocacy
for
me
and
I'm
excited
to
see
it
added
to
the
curriculum.
B
I
know
that
our
kids
struggle
tremendously
with
mental
health
issues,
as
do
do
our
staff,
who
have
been
through
a
lot
of
trauma
the
last
couple
of
years.
A
Any
other
comments
from
the
board.
I
would
just
echo
my
fellow
board
members.
This
is
incredible
work
and
I'm
looking
forward
to
voting
yes
on
this
myself
and
with
that,
let's
move
to
the
vote
board
members
answer
I
ornay
susan
greenberg.
D
H
G
C
A
Becky
tim
chuck,
aye
don
collette
I
and
the
ma
the
motion
passes
unanimously.
Okay,
our
next
up
is
our
social
science
curriculum
adoption
phase.
Two.
Do
I
hear
a
motion
to
adopt
the
social
science
curriculum
adoption
phase
two.
A
Right,
it's
been
properly
moved
and
seconded
any
comments
or
questions
from
the
board.
B
So
I
just
want
to
thank
the
team.
I
I
think
this
that
we're,
I
think,
beaverton
school
district
is
leading
the
way
with
this
curriculum
and
I'm
excited
about
it
and
very
proud
to
vote.
Yes
and
again,
I
think
we're
standing
up
for
our
students,
so
thank
you
so.
H
I
too
want
to
thank
our
team.
It
was
a
pleasure
to
read
the
work
that
was
done
and
to
just
look
at
how
what
our
students
will
be
learning
and
having
access
to.
It
brings
me
great
joy
to
be
doing
that.
We
are
we're
doing
this
work
together,
and
I
wanted
you
to
know
that
we
have
my
full
support
and
our
board
support
in
this
work.
I
think.
K
I
too,
I
will
be
voting
yes
on
this
adoption
tonight
and
again
important
first
step.
We
are
well
overdue
in
the
district.
This
is
such
important
work
and
it's
important
to
do
it
right
and
it's
important
to
incorporate
our
whole
community
and
I'd
like
to
give
the
whole
team
has
been
phenomenal
and
their
dedication
to
this
work.
K
But
I
would
like
to
give
a
special
shout
out
to
my
matt
highfield,
who
has
been
a
long
time
supporter
of
our
social
studies
curriculum
here
in
the
district,
and
I
just
recently
learned
that
matt
will
be
retiring
and
and
doing
some
work
for
us
as
a
district,
but
but
matt.
I
want
to
really
thank
you
for
being
the
backbone
with
the
with
the
team,
the
whole
social
studies
and
social
science
team.
K
So
thank
you
so
much
for
all
the
hard
work
on
the
staffs
we
have
as
well
as
of
the
departing
dr
zika
as
well.
This
this
would
not
have
happened
without
this
great
dedication
of
this
team.
So
thank
you.
B
A
And
very
very
excited
about
this
adoption.
This
is
incredible
work
I
want
to
just
take
a
moment
to
recognize
brian
sika
for
your
integral
work
in
this
and
so
many
other
curriculum
adoptions.
While
I've
been
on
the
board,
you
have
been
an
incredible
asset
to
us
with
these
curriculum
adoptions
and
and
watches
through
many
many
many
reams
of
instructional
materials
and
I'm
sure
banks
is
very
excited
to
have
you
as
their
next
superintendent.
A
F
Thanks
tom,
I
appreciate
those
comments
and
appreciate
the
entire
team
and
once
again
a
shout
out
to
my
matt
highfield.
Thank
you
for
your
over
30
years
of
service
to
the
beaverton
student
staff
and
community.
A
Okay,
we'll
do
a
vote
on
this
so
board.
Members
answer
I
or
nay
susan
greenberg,.
B
H
U
U
A
Okay,
our
our
last
item
is
the
consent
agenda.
Do
I
hear
a
motion
to
adopt
the
consent
agenda.
B
I
moved
that
we
approved
the
consent
agenda.
A
All
right,
it's
been
properly
moved
and
seconded
board
members.
We're
gonna
take
a
vote
on
this
and
answer
with
I
ornate
susan
greenberg.
B
T
T
A
And
the
motion
passes
unanimously.
Now
is
the
time
for
board
member
communications.
So
if
anybody
has
any
comments,
susan.
B
Well,
my
comment
is
it's
the
end
of
an
era,
the
start
of
another
era
and
one
I
just
want
to
thank
don
grotting
for
his
six
years
in
our
the
beaver
school
district
and
the
amazing
work
in
putting
kids
first
and
you
know
just
equity,
and
I
I
could
go
on
and
on,
but
I
just
want
to
thank
you,
and
I
also
just
want
to
be
excited
about
the
fact
that
we've
got
a
new
superintendent
starting
in
july,
but
I
also
wanted
to
comment
about
two
well,
three
people
that
are
leaving
the
cabinet
that
I
know
of
jenny,
hansman
david
williams
and
brian
ceca.
B
I
just
want
to
thank
you
all
for
I've
appreciated
working
with
all
of
you,
and
I
want
to
thank
you
all
for
putting
our
children
first
and
you're
going
to
be
missed.
So
thank
you
very
much.
U
U
So
thank
you
very
much,
and
this
was
also
my
first
time
attending
the
graduations,
and
I
was
at
aloha
high
school
and
like
don
was
saying
it
was
raining,
but
the
rain
didn't
wash
away
the
excitement
of
the
parents
and
the
students,
so
it
was
really
a
great
honor
to
be
there
and
isb
graduation,
and
it
was
very
nice
to
see
our
students
and
the
families
there.
So
thank
you.
H
Yeah
I
wanted
to
thank
brian
cica
and
jeannie,
and
david
and
matt,
and
don
for
all
of
their
and
all
of
our
other
teachers
that
are
in
and
staff
that
are
retiring
and
that
have
given
so
much
service
to
our
students
over
the
last
many
years.
It's
it
makes
a
huge
difference
and
it
you've
made
a
positive
impact
in
our
community.
H
I
want
to
thank
our
teachers.
They
finally
made
it
to
the
last
day
of
school,
all
right
now,
all
kids
should
be
home,
and
so
it's
exciting.
I
was
at
my
daughter's
middle
school
volunteering
and
just
so
thankful
for
the
work
that
our
teachers
have
do
on
a
day-to-day
basis
with
our
students
and
to
the
families
for
getting
our
kids
to
school
and
off
on
a
good
foot.
H
I
also
had
the
pleasure
of
going
to
a
couple
graduations,
and
it
was
amazing
shaking
being
there
to
celebrate
with
students
and
families,
and
I
really
enjoyed
seeing
the
work
that
our
staff
is
doing
with
our
students
who
experience
who
are
experiencing
special
needs
and
are
up
to
the
age
of
21.
They
were
aging
out.
They
had
an
aging
out
ceremony
and
it
was
amazing
to
see
the
heart
and
the
work
that
our
staff
has
put
into
our
students
to
help
them
be.
H
You
know,
be
able
to
go
out
into
the
world
and
learn
as
many
skills
before
they
hit
the
age
of
21.
That
was
very
impactful
and
yeah.
Just
thank
you
to
everybody.
Our
staff-
and
I
look
forward
to
you,
know
also
having
our
first
latino
bipark
superintendent
and
looking
forward
to
that
work
serving
as
the
first
latina
on
our
school
board
in
history
of
our
school
board
to
see
a
person
that
looks
like
me,
leading
in
the
beaverton
school
district.
V
So
I
had
the
privilege
to
go
to
don's
superintendent
leadership
meeting
about
two
weeks
ago
and
I
was
struck
by
you
know.
The
amazing
people
in
the
district
were
getting
scholarships
on
the
student
side
and
the
great.
A
K
Okay,
just
wrapping
up
the
the
school
year,
congratulations
to
all
the
graduates,
and
it
is
a
wonderful
honor
to
have
so
many
great
graduates
from
the
beaverton
school
district.
So
congratulations
to
all
of
our
graduates.
Thank
you
to
all
of
our
staff
for
making
it
through
a
very
difficult
year.
I
know
we
have
some
staff
that
will
be
departing
for
us,
not
just
in
retirement
but
moving
on
to
other
things,
and
just
thank
you
for
your
years
to
providing
a
wonderful
education
to
our
students.
K
I
also
want
to
congratulate
karen
and
tom
for
taking
on
the
leadership
role.
Congratulations
to
both
of
you
and
I
look
forward
to
working
with
you
and
supporting
you
on
our
board.
K
As
eric
was
starting
to
mention.
We've
we've
gotten
some
retirements
and
I
I
would
like
to
acknowledge
some
of
those
first
of
all,
not
a
retirement
but
as
as
tom's
already
said,
with
brian
zika
brian.
Thank
you
so
much
for
all.
You
know
the
things
that
are
already
been
mentioned,
but
I
just
want
to
thank
you
for
your
leadership
during
covid.
K
K
K
I
want
to
thank
her
for
her
wonderful
leadership
at
beaverton
and
also
principal
sean
leverty
from
montclair,
again
retiring
and
and
thank
you
for
leadership
there
at
montclair
and
then
our
own
jenny
hansman,
what
a
rock
stepped
in
when
when
we
needed
leadership
there,
but
spending
your
whole
career
as
teacher
deputy,
all
the
all
the
way
up-
and
it
has
been
such
a
pleasure
to
be
able
to
to
to
be
get
to
know
you
and
be
a
part
of
it,
and
I'm
always
going
to
remember
you
as
my
my
son's
last
elementary
school
principal
but
you've
gone
on
to
do
so.
K
Many
other
things
and
last
but
not
least,
thank
you
for
growing
your
own
that
you
have
provided
two
of
your
own
legacies
and
children
to
continue
to
teach
in
our
school
district.
You
are
going
to
be
absolutely
sorely,
sorely
missed
and.
K
I
could
not
imagine
being
a
board
chair
with
anybody
talk
about
someone
in
the
trenches
all
the
things
that
we've
said
about
him
tonight,
keeping
us
informed
coming
to
us.
It's
just
been
great.
K
I
just
want
to
just
point
out
some
the
legacy
that
don
grotting
is
leaving
not
only
in
this
district
but
in
this
state,
what
a
difference
you
have
made,
but
to
get
a
levy
and
a
bond
passed
to
oversee,
coming
in
with
a
bond
when
we
needed
some
help
and
you
stepped
in
and
and
and
and
did
that
but
oversaw
the
bond
and
put
together
assembled
a
great
team
to
support
you
in
that
work
to
walk
the
walk
and
talk
to
talk
when
it
came
to
equity,
we
still
have
a
long
way
to
go,
but
you
were
the
model
there
and
it
wasn't
just
modeling
it
and
and
having
the
difficult
conversations
and
conversations
we
so
need
to
have
in
this
district.
K
You
put
money
into
it.
You
you
supported
that
you
supported
the
a
bar
work.
I
really
appreciate
that
you're
you're,
starting
of
the
superintendent's
internal
advisory
committee,
that
gave
you
advice
and
and
helped
you
with
the
things
that
were
going
on,
and
you
went
directly
also
your
leadership
in
getting
the
student
success
act
at
the
state
level
as
well
as
in
the
in
the
district
here
and
and
how
important
that
was,
and
also
that
we
will
be
relocating
our
district
office
to
a
new
location.
K
That's
going
to
be
the
grotting
legacy
legacy
as
well,
but
I
wish
everybody
can
see
the
farewell
that
the
communication
staff
did
because
it
brings
me
such
joy
don
when
I
see
you
come
alive
when
you
get
with
those
students
and
there's
never
been
any
doubt
that
students
were
number
one
to
you
and
you
came
to
our
district
with
early
learning
and
the
difference
that
you
have
made
to
go
from
zero
to
over
11
schools.
That
was
your
vision.
That
was
your
support.
K
There
are
going
to
be,
it
is
going
to
keep
growing
and
you
have
made
such
a
difference
by
investing
in
our
kids
that
need
the
investment
most
and
that
will
be
your
biggest
legacy
of
all.
Is
that
early
learning,
and
now
that
we're
in
over
11
schools
and
we're
going
to
keep
growing
over
500
students
a
year?
Thank
you
thank
you
for
providing
that
and,
lastly,
I
have
had
the
opportunity
to
say
he's:
never
left
a
conversation
without
asking.
K
What
can
I
do
for
you?
What
can
I
do
to
make
your
and
what
you
can
do
for
me
now
don
is
to
enjoy
your
retirement
with
lisa.
I
thank
so
much
your
family
support
of
all
the
hours
that
you
put
in
countless
hours
and
beyond
anything
of
being
our
superintendent
here
in
beaverton
and
being
a
great
state
leader
in
education.
I
thank
you
from
the
bottom
of
my
heart
for
being
such
a
wonderful
friend,.
A
C
How
in
the
world
am
I
supposed
to
follow
that?
Thank
you
becky.
I
I
attended
a
few
graduation
events
and
to
sit
down
there
and
hear
some
of
the
incredible
stories
that
our
students
have
to
share
and
I
could
not
imagine
how
much
some
of
them
have
overcome
to
be
able
to
stand
on
that
stage
to
collect
their
diploma
and
they
wouldn't
be
able
to
share
those
success
stories
without
our
incredible
educators.
So
I
want
to
say
thank
you
to
our
teachers,
our
staff
members,
especially
our
special
education
teachers.
C
Today
I
was
talking
to
my
son
siege
and
I
said
to
him.
Mr
riley,
you
survived.
You
survived
my
son
for
one
year.
It's
it's
not
an
easy
task
to
be
a
special
education
teacher.
So
I
want
to
say
thank
you
to
all
of
you
for
the
hard
work
for
your
patients,
your
patients,
especially
with
that
with
our
children
on
special
needs.
C
It's
it's
incredible,
so
I
want
to
say
thank
you
so
much
for
all
that
you
continue
to
park
into
our
students
and
finally,
I
just
want
to
say
thank
you
to
to
david
to
brian
and
eugenie,
and
I
wish
you
well.
I
wish
you
success
and
your
endeavors
and
we
are
so
grateful
for
the
work
that
you
did
here
in
our
district.
So
thank
you
so
very
much
and
finally
done.
C
I
appreciate
you
thank
you
for
welcoming
us
with
open
arms
as
new
board
members.
Thank
you
for
making
it
easy
for
us
for
me
to
do
my
work
as
a
board
member.
Thank
you
for
making
me
comfortable
to
come
to
you
with
inquiries
with
questions
with
issues.
Your
doors
were
always
open.
Your
phone
was
always
always
went
through
and
you
always
answered
your
phones.
You
responded
in
text
messages.
You
made
sure
that
you
gave
attentive
ears
to
to
me.
So
I
appreciate
it
and
I
wish
you
well.
Thank
you
so
much
don.
Thank
you.
A
G
A
An
incredible
year,
probably
one
of
the
most
difficult
years
in
education,
at
least
in
recent
history,
and
we
have
seen
some
pretty
tough
years
in
oregon,
but
nothing
quite
like
this
year
and
so
much
appreciation
for
our
students.
What
they've
overcome
to
get
here,
especially
to
our
graduates.
It's
been
an
incredible
journey
and
there's
so
much
resiliency
and
there's
so
much
strength
in
our
students.
That
is
incredible.
A
I
know
we
have
a
very
bright
future
here.
I
want
to
thank
all
the
educators,
all
of
our
classified
staff,
who
made
this
happen
through
all
the
pivots.
All
the
different
changes
folks
constantly
reinventing
what
it
is
to
do:
education
in
the
classroom
and
outside
the
classroom
supporting
people
with
school
lunches
in
a
variety
of
different
ways.
You
know
our
staff
are
incredible
and
when
anyone
talks
about
this
district
and
its
strength,
it's
right
there.
A
It's
in
our
staff,
our
administrators,
have
stepped
up
in
a
way
that
was
incredible,
so
much
leadership
to
help
our
students
with
the
trauma
that
they've
experienced
throughout
the
pandemic
and
to
be
able
to
shepherd
them
through
this
school
year
and
to
to
greet
you
know
our
students
with
all
the
support
and
the
help
that
they
need.
I
want
to
call
out
some
specific
administrators
too.
I
appreciate
deputy
superintendent
mead
and
what
has
happened
over
there
with
the
facilities
to
provide
us
with
an
incredible
bond.
A
We
have
had
an
amazing
amount
of
information
coming
from
that
side
of
the
house
to
be
able
to
have
a
bond
that
was
ready
to
go
out
and
it's
been
prioritized
and
it
was
run
successfully.
The
community-
and
that
doesn't
happen
without
good
work
on
the
inside
susan
rodriguez,
has
done
an
incredible
job.
Bargaining,
multiple
contracts
and
working
through
staff
shortages,
she's
been
constantly
working
constantly
collaborative
her
work
is
so
appreciated
and
has
made
such
a
huge
difference
on
this
district.
A
This
year
I
know
we've
got
brian
sika
who's,
leaving
us
and
brian
you.
You
led
us
through
so
much
of
this
pandemic
and
your
explanations
of
constantly
evolving,
changing
difficult
concepts,
kept
the
board
involved
and
under
understanding
what
was
happening,
and
your
critical
thinking
was
making
sure
that
we
were
making
good
choices
to
support
student
safety
and
to
keep
kids
in
school
jenny.
A
We
it's
so
much
appreciation
for
the
work
that
you've
done
you're,
always
there
you're
collaborative
you're
working
with
us,
you're
helping
us
understand
and
your
your
long
service
to
this
district
is
so
much
appreciated.
You
have
done
an
incredible
service
over
the
amount
of
time
and
david
williams.
I
I
can't
imagine
not
having
david
there
to
help
us
with
all
the
statewide
issues
and
the
political
work
david
is
is
truly
an
incredible
individual
there's.
Nobody
who
can
replace
david.
A
He
has
a
unique
knowledge
of
education
in
our
state
and
the
esd
is
gaining
an
incredible
leader
and
then
lastly
dawn
I
I
am
almost
speechless.
You
have
made
such
a
huge
impact
on
this
district.
You
have
done
so
much
for
our
students,
the
the
work
that
you've
done
around
pre-k
from
where
we
we
had
you
know
no
pre-k.
So
now
we
have
11
and
we're
on
track
to
be
able
to
to
make
that
happen
at
every.
You
know
school
where
that
is
needed
across
our
district.
A
Your
incredible
work
on
the
graduation
rates
or
graduation
rates
have
increased
since
you
have
been
here
in
in
a
very
huge
way,
and
that
means
more
students
are
going
to
go
out
there
and
be
able
to
attain
and
do
great
work,
and
I
I
just
want
to
go
back
to
your
leadership
style,
the
collaboration,
the
honesty,
the
transparency,
the
heart
there's
a
lot
of
different
instances.
I
can
think
of
that
being
on
display,
but
the
one
where
I
could
really
tell
you
were
an
incredible
leader.
A
We
were
dealing
with
some
changes
to
the
sumo
program
and
I
remember
we
were
at
a
middle
school
this
was
years
ago
and
there
were
a
number
of
parents
who
were
concerned.
These
changes
affected
their
students
and
they
wanted
to
know
what
was
going
on
and
they
had
a
lot
of
concerns
and
you
stayed
past
the
end
of
the
meeting.
I
think
it
was
like
an
hour
and
a
half
almost
two
hours,
something
like
that.
A
Talking
with
every
single
parent
until
we
left-
and
there
were
a
lot
of
tough
difficult
conversations
that
were
being
had,
but
throughout
you
kept
it
a
cool
head,
but
even
more
you
kept
an
open
heart
and
that
style
of
leadership
has
allowed
our
district
to
move
forward
in
so
many
ways,
and
that's
so
appreciated.
That
is,
that
is
a
huge,
lasting
legacy.
A
Thank
you
for
that
dawn
and
very
much
looking
forward
to
working
with
our
new
superintendent,
dr
balderas,
when
he
comes
here
next
month,
and
we
have
a
very
bright
future
ahead
of
us
here
in
the
bsd,
but
for
everybody
who
has
done
the
incredible
work
of
getting
our
district
to
where
we
are
today
through
this
incredibly
difficult
year.
Thank
you
so
much
and
I
hope
everybody
gets
some
some
good
rest
over
this
summer.
