and

wanted
to
thank
you
tonight
for
putting
forward
such
a
comprehensive
resolution
in
support
of
stable
school
funding.
Our
educators
are
certainly
feeling
a
sense
of
pressure
to
keep
doing
more
with
less
and
our
students
can't
wait
any
longer
stable
school
funding
will
really
help
us
meet
the
needs
of
all
of
our
students,
and
we
look
forward
to
working
with
you
to
make
that
happen.

So
I
will
let
them
speak
to
that,
and
just
close
by
saying,
since
we
started
in
August
this
year,
we
have
now
completed
more
weeks
of
school
than
we
typically
have
as
we
reach
when
our
break
and
as
they
say,
you
can't
pork
from
an
empty
cup
and
just
want
to
state
the
obvious
that
it's
important
for
all
of
us
to
take
this
upcoming
break
to
rest
and
rejuvenate
and
I
hope.
You
have
a
wonderful.

Now
more
than
ever,
our
education
prepares
students
for
the
demands
and
realities
of
the
21st
century
workforce,
which
has
become
increasingly
design
and
innovation
based
when
teachers
have
class
sizes
pushing
36
to
40
students,
and
we
do
it
is
physically
impossible
to
meet
the
needs
of
every
student
and
to
give
each
student
sufficient
attention
to
support
their
attainment
of
academic
growth
and
excellence.
Studies
by
the
National
Endowment
for
the
Arts
and
other
agencies
show.

Elective
classes
are
often
the
classes
that
keep
students
on
the
margins
coming
to
school.
There
have
also
been
numerous
studies
that
support
the
importance
of
building
relationships
with
student
attendance
and
retention.
When
we
have
these
enormous
class
sizes.
Building
relationships
is
incredibly
difficult
if
I
have
36
art
students
in
a
56
minute
class
period,
that
translates
into
roughly
a
minute
and
a
half
I
can
spend
one-on-one
with
each
of
those
students.
That's
the
last
time
that
I've
been
given
to
speak
to
you
tonight,
a
minute
and
a
half.

That's
a
sound
fight,
that's
not
quality
time!
There's
no
way
I
can
truly
meet
the
needs
of
each
of
those
students
and
realistically,
what
ends
up
happening
is
because
of
high
numbers
of
sped
identified
students
and
emotionally
disturbed
students.
Students
who
are
dealing
with
and
reacting
with
the
trauma
is
that
many
of
those
students
don't
even
get
that
minute
and
a
half
I
am
the
only
art
teacher
in
a
school
of
almost
a
thousand
students.

This
skeleton
staffing
is
grossly
and
out,
and
yet
we
as
a
state
have
been
conditioned
to
accept
the
bare
minimum,
since
the
fall
have
measured.
Five
you've
been
conditioned
to
accept
the
undervaluing
of
the
arts
of
education
and
our
children's
teachers.
When
we
need
to
be
pushing
for
excellence,
our
students
need
and
deserve
better
I
urge
you
to
vote
tonight
to
approve
the
resolution
and
support
at
stable
state
funding.

lasting

been
teaching

25
years
and
when
I
came
to
be
Burton.
I
was
just
impressed
at
how
much
they
respected
and
supported
teachers
and
everything
that
they
had
to
offer
for
the
families
and
communities
that
make
support.
Over
the
past
few
years,
children
have
be
coming
to
school,
with
less
and
less
than
I'm,
not
talking.

Academics,
I'm
talking
about
less
fine
motor
skills,
less
social
communication
skills,
less
more
emotional
needs,
and
now
that
our
society
is
changing,
we
need
to
respond
accordingly.
We
need
to
reevaluate
where
we're
spending
our
time
and
resources.
These
are
some
of
the
things
I
carry
around
with
me
now
cars,
so
that
I
can
use
a
nonverbal
approach
for
kids,
who
maybe
need
more
support
cards
and
class
for
kids
behavior
charts
that
I
have
to
keep
track
of
who's,
hitting
spitting
kicking
in
a
walkie.

So
that
and
call
for
support
from
my
OB
principal
in
the
secondaries
good
then
aren't
doing
their
positions.
I
always
think
about
it,
like
kids
coming
to
school,
and
you
have
your
little
nurtured,
tiny
human
and
that's
their
preferred
home
in
their
safe
environment,
but
when
they
come
to
kindergarten
they're
just
thrown
in
the
deep
end
of
the
ocean,
and
we
send
them
floaties
and
we
make
a
chart
for
them
in
this,
but
we
never
teach
them
to
swim
and
we
don't
have
the
time
or
resources
to
teach
them
to
swim.

want
the
smaller
class
sizes
that
we
need.
We
need
more
special
education
services
designed
for
those
early
learners,
so
I
urge
you
tonight

threats

having

defend

fellow
students

potential
danger

their
identity?

something
no
student
should
have
to
face.

alike

I

to
make
it
extremely
clear
that
this
issue
does
not
just

upon

shoulders
of
POC
victims,

it
does

not
referring
to
bear
alone.

injustice
that
is
taking
place
in
our
schools
and
is
obstructing
that
right.
We
need
help
and
we
know
that
you
want
us
to
be
safe,
healthy
and
happy
as

why
this
policy
change
is

such
urgent
need.

it
comes
down
to
helping
to
ensure
student
safety
with
the
protection
that
they
did
they
deserve.

Thomas

I'm,
a
junior
at
Western,
High,
School
I'm,
probably
the
Leadership
Council
for
the
Black
Student
Union
and
I've
been
part
of
Wesley's
student
government
and
leadership
since
freshman
year.
In
this
time
that
I've
been
at
Westview
I've
witnessed
so
many
issues
surrounding
hate
speech,
but
there
I've
also
witnessed
so
little
action
after
these
issues
occurred.
I,
remember
in
my
freshman
year
hearing
racial
slurs
be
thrown
around
Wesley,
but
it
was
nothing
at
first
I
was
startled,
but
as
time
continued
I
started
to
grow
numb
to
it.
H
I
started
to
believe
it
was
normal
and
I
asked.
Did
everyone
else,
since
the
majority
of
the
community
was
still
numb
to
these
hateful
derogatory
slurs
and
the
people
using
these
slurs
were
not
giving
any
punishments
for
their
actions.
These
people
decided
to
one-up
just
lers.
They
switch
to
hateful
slurs
and
violence
running
death
threats
on
the
walls
of
our
bathroom.
The
words
are
the
words
that
they
use
are
too
horrible
and
I
would
not
repeat
them
in
this
room.
But
what
I
will
talk
about
is
the
fear
I.
H
Remember
put
that
or
the
fear
I
remember.
That
was
put
in
students
of
color
I
was
a
divided
cause
in
our
community.
I.
Remember
how
students
of
color
wouldn't
go
anywhere
individually
to
school
out
of
here.
I.
Remember
the
distress
and
pain
that
this
caused.
One
thing,
I'll,
never
forget,
is
going
into
the
my
blocks
reunion
meeting
as
I
did
every
Monday
and
seeing
the
strongest
people
in
our
community
in
tears.

The
worst
feeling
I
thought,
however,
was
that
all
of
this
could
have
been
prevented
if
there
was
one
thing,
an
actual
punishment
for
he
teach
at
these
kids
that
were
actually
taught
now
the
jokes
and
slurs
that
they're
throwing
around
the
hallway
we're,
not
okay,
if
they
were
talked
to
and
not
just
feeling
a
slap
on
the
wrist
with
a
true
punishment
that
shows
them
and
fits
the
graphic
gravity,
the
pain
that
they
have
inflicted
on
people
in
their
community.
This
all
could
have
been
avoided.

We
contend
that
waiting
until
the
annual
reparation
process
is
not
expedient
enough,
simply
because
you
wouldn't
want
your
students
to
wait
a
half
to
wait
a
year
to
feel
safe
in
their
school
environment.
Given
the
urgency
of
this
matter,
we
propose
that
this
new
policy
is
first
implemented
in
the
handbook
and
then
afterward
becomes
a
board
policy.
The
process
for
which
we
understand
it
is
relatively
more
arduous.
When
deciding
on
how
to
structure
the
specific
petition,
we.
I
Inspiration
from
exemplar
such
as
similar
policies,
implemented
in
the
New,
York,
LA
and
Seattle
School
District
included,
is
language
Dana.
There
shall
be
no
hate-motivated
acts
or
speech
on
the
basis
of
race,
gender,
sexual
orientation,
national
origin
or
any
of
other
traits
outlined
in
state
legislature.
In
our.
I
Basic
requirements,
and
thus
it
is
high
time
that
they
are
at
least
actually
handbook
and
do
the
the
BSD
being
a
government
regulated
School
District.
The
proposed
policies
ties
to
state
legislature
makes
it
a
case
for
becoming
a
board
policy
as
well.
It
is
also
integral
that
a
speech
intake
motivated
incidents
be
treated
as
an
issue
separate
yet
compounded
with
general
bullying
and
harassment.
I
The
logical
consequence
of
the
absence
of
any
concrete
policy
regarding
needs
to
be
within
the
handbook
is
that
hate-motivated
incidents
are
dealt
with
on
a
quote
case-by-case
basis,
meaning
there's
a
tendency
for
it
to
be
swept
under
the
rug
as
another
just
case
of
bullying
and
harassment.
However,
racialized
aid
and
other
forms
of
discrimination
simply
cannot
be
treated
as
faint
harassment
for
his
nuanced
and
that's
expert
later.
That
should
be
reflected
in
the
counter
measures
taken
against
it.
I
It
is
without
reason
that
we
contend
that
the
penalties
for
any
heat
motivate
incident
should
be
that
for
both
harassment,
as
well
as
its
own
issue.
Whether
this
means
integration
into
the
levels
of
punishment
system
that
was
added
to
the
handbook
or
treated
separately
is
at
your
discretion.
For
either
approach
would
satisfy
the
goals
that
we
wish
to
achieve.
I'm
asking
over
255
signatures
over
the
span
of
just
four
hours
at
our
school
alone.
I
It
was
a
testament
that
the
petition
with
the
previous
criteria
has
strong
support
from
the
student
population,
and
it
goes
further
than
just
west
new
high
school,
similar
incidents
at
schools
have
put
students
for
high-speed
mountainside
and
sunset
high
school
Desai,
an
online
counterpart
of
the
petition.
As
students,
we
are
fully
willing
to
collaborate
with
the
school
district
to
see
an
update
and
and
the
board
policy
completed
as
soon
as
possible.
I
Inclusion
of
the
affirmation
criteria
into
the
Beaverton,
School,
District's
rules
and
regulations
would
be
a
strong
statement,
but
the
Beaverton
School
District
not
only
prioritized
the
existence
of
diversity,
but
the
more
so
be
protection
and
safety
of
that
diversity
within
in
schools.
On

the
students,
we

what
the
future
holds

motivation

okay
to
drop
out,
because
the
win
that
my
mom

sputtering
year
I
went
to
a
high
school.
Where
my
experience

it
the
best
and
then
later
on,
transfer

I

now

asked

solar
teacher.

avid

program

never

been
beneficial

it
also

portion

states

Beaverton
student
deserves
sufficient
staff
attention
to
support
their
social

emotional
growth
and
attainment
of
academic
excellence
is
here.

have
two
very
difficult
students.
The
main
thing
needs
to
boys
want
is
attention
and
they
will
do
anything
to
get
it.
They
crave
being
seen
heard
and
understood
at
the
beginning
of
the
year.

I
have
had
the
chance
to
give
both
of
them
the
attention
that
they
crave,
I've
supported
their
social
emotional
growth
and
also
their
academic
learning,
and
they
both
settle
down
considerably
they're
still
challenging,
but
I
can
teach,
and
my
students
can
learn.
Compare
this
to
when
I
had
29
students,
that's
28%
more
students,
and
you
consider
that
in
every
class,
about
20%
of
the
kids
are
super
challenging.

means
a
couple
extra
difficult
students
who
can
totally
tip
the
scale
overwhelm
the
teacher
and

the
other
kids
up
there
learning
his
today
come
to
school
with
so
many
more
issues
than
when
I
first
started
teaching.
We
need
small
class
sizes
and
more
highly
skilled
adults
in
every
building.
Who
can
support
these
kids,
so
the
teachers
can
go
on
teaching
and
all
of
the
other
children
do
not
have
their
learning
disrupted.

Over
and
over
again,
a
smaller
class
size
means
fewer
heavy
hitters
and
more
time
and
attention
for
every
child,
more
skilled
adults
in
the
building
mean
we
can
directly
address
the
issues
at
our
most
challenging
kids,
so
they
grow,
and
so
their
issues
do
not
prevent
the
learning.
All
the
other
children
see
this
increase
in
outrageous.
Behavior
is
the
biggest
barrier
to
all
of
our
children's
achievement.
We
must
secure
funding
to
keep
class
sizes
down
and
keeping
up
highly
skilled
support
staff
to
give
every
child
the
attention
he
or
she
needs
and
deserves.

Spanish
teacher
at
the
PYD
school
restaurant
and

Elementary
I,
was
starting
at
their
first
Spanish
teacher
three
years
ago
and,
as
a
new
teacher
to
the
district,
I
have
definitely
felt
the
impact
of
the
budget.
My
first
year
with
the
SDR
receipt.

My
probationary
letter
is
marked,
with
the
caveat
that
beautiful
ending
it
wasn't
a
guarantee
of
employment
for
the
following
year
and
then
attended
an
HR
meeting
that
essentially
prepared
us
for
layoffs
and
I
didn't
want
to
leave
the
West
to
be
community
or
Spanish
program
that
I
was
building
but
I
started
flying
to
other
districts,
including
those
right
across
the
border.
In
Washington
last
year,
I
received
the
same
letter
at
this
two
incredible
teachers
at
my
school
who
we
lost
to
other
districts.

This
was
a
loss
to
our
school
to
our
students,
and
especially
those
students
who
rely
on
them
with
relationships
with
with
their
teachers
that
don't
have
those
stable
relationships
at
home.
Sometimes
are
the
only
relationships
like
kids
have
this
with
their
teachers,
so
the
loss
of
the
teacher
is
devastating.

It's
unfortunate
to
lose
these
young
and
passionate
teachers
and
at
an
IB
school
like
West
12th
review,
there's
an
added
investment
in
required
trainings
for
the
IB
teachers.
Timing
money
is
spent,
then
replacement
teachers
on
training,
new
new
trainings,
rather
than
being
able
to
focus
on
creating
an
improving
units.
Teachers
are
stuck
cycling
through
wreaking
development,
and
this
is
not
what's
best
for
students.
Each
school
year
has
been
an
unknown
and
it
always
depended
on
funding.
Last
year
we
would
have
lost
300
teachers
has
a
levy
not
passed.
That
is
terrifying
and
unacceptable.

Each
school
year
we
enjoy
with
the
unknown
of
what
resources
will
be
available,
how
many
kids
will
be
in
a
class
and
what
I
a
support
will
have
for
our
students
most
in
need.
As
a
specialist
I
see
every
student
in
the
school
and
witness
experience
witnessed
and
experienced
each
of
those
losses,
a
class
with
over
30
kids
and
no
support
the
elementary
level
is
unacceptable.
Room
clears
on
a
regular
basis.
It's
not
okay
and
revenue
reform
is
necessary.
Our
students
deserve
it.

about
the
resolution
to
support
in
support
of
stable
and
adequate
state
funding
and
education
as
a
comprehensive
school
counselor.
My
job
is
to
help
students
find
success
at
school
by
helping
them
navigate
personal
and
social
and
academic
barriers
that
are
keeping
them
from
existence.

From
a
successful
completion
of
high
school,
we
have
six
caseload,
counselors
at
sunset,
high
school,
all
of
us,
with
caseloads,
ranging
from
two
hundred
three
hundred
and
twenty
two
three
hundred
and
sixty
students,
which
is
pretty
low
for
our
districts.
The
American
school
counselor
Association
recommends
a
caseload
of
two
hundred
and
fifty
students
to
one
cut
counselor,
and
we
are
clearly
surpassing
that
recommendation
with
so
many
students
in
our
caseload.
O
We
are
in
a
constant
state
of
crisis
management
and
do
not
have
time
for
preventative
measures
with
the
rise
of
depression
and
anxiety
and
many
of
our
students.
It
is
often
too
late
by
the
time
we
were
able
to
intervene
and
our
we're
forced
to
talk
about
options
outside
of
high
school
rather
than
to
support
students
in
their
home
schools.
We
are
often
forced
to
work
on
time.

Sensitive
tasks
such
as
504
case
management,
letters
of
recommendation
and
scheduling
outside
of
school,
while
trying
to
provide
crisis
support
to
students,
staff
and
families
during
the
school
day.
The
system
does
not
give
us
adequate
time
to
reach
all
students
that
need
support
and
students
are
too
quickly
falling
through

observations

school
counselor,
but
it's
clear
that
our
students
find
most
success
when
they're
able
to
have
individual
needs
met
by
teachers
in
the
school
staff
that
is
becoming
harder
when
teachers
are
working
super
fine,
super-sized
schedules,
school
counselors
are
working
with
case
law
with
high
caseloads,
and
our
special
education
teams,
or
stress
should
have
been.
We
want
to
help
students
and
we
want
to
want
to
help
them
find
their
success
in
Beaverton
Schools.
This
can
only
happen
with
adequate
funding
and
qualified
people
in
the
school
building.

out
real

the
less

high
school
students
and
just
to
show
you
the
kind
of
support
they
have
so
their
principles.

amazing

way
to
really
advocate

student

way

work

research

cabinet
and

they've

invited

union

conjunction

our
ESP
and
OSB,
a
we're
hosting
two
regional
advocacy.

we're
going
to
be
able
to
talk
to
our
legislators
and
talk
to
them
about
some
of
the
challenges
that
are
existing
in
our
schools.

Around
social-emotional
learning,
making
sure
that
we
keep
their
lap
is
in
our
schools
that
are
needed
to
keep
our
students
engage
and
just
some
of
the
different
issues
and
I
know.

and

were
able
to

a

Western
economic
alliance
and
for
many
of
us,
when
you
drive
by
a
school
or
when
anybody
drives
by
a
school,

about

school
is
not
the
same

it
was
when
many
of
us
went

school

believe

expectations
on
our
staff
and
our
students
are
much
greater
than
they
are.

we
are
really
looking
at

I've
done.

advocating

know
I'm
going
to
meet
with
Jim
green,
the
executive
director
of
OSP
a
we're
going
to
meet
with
the
Oregonian
editorial
board
and
specifically
talk.
What
is
it
like
to
be
in
a
school?
P
It
is
becoming
more
and
more
difficult
for
many
of
our
impoverished
families
to
be
able
to
stay
and
pay
rent
here
and
live
in
Beaverton,
and
so
we're
seeing
how
many
of
our
students
have
to
move
away
to
different
areas,
because
they
cannot
simply
survive
here.
We're
also
seeing
an
uptick
in
our
homeless
population
where
families
are
to
live
together
and
just
to
make
ends
meet.
They
want
to
stay
in
our
school
district,
but
in
many
instances
they're
not
financially.
P
Also,
we
talked
about.
We
had
some
over
projections
and
our
certified
or
under
projections
in
our
city
and
classified
salaries,
and
so
right
now,
it's
resulting
in
an
overall
estimation,
we're
looking
at
somewhere
before
the
end
of
the
year
between
the
nine
and
twelve
million
dollar
deficit.
So
we're
going
to
be
coming
out
with
strategies
in
which
we
want
to
recover
as
much
as
possible
of
that
funding
right
now
before
the
next
school
year.

So
we
can
we're
not
starting
out
in
as
much
as
a
deficit,
so
I'm
just
trying
to
be
as
transparent
as
possible,
but
we're
gonna
really
focus
on
recovering
as
much
as
that
deficit
as
possible.
Also
I'm
starting
a
superintendent's
Advisory
Council
that
will
be
made
up
building
level,
I
want
to
say
building
level,
not
central
office
level,
certified
and
classified
staff,
and
basically
trying
to
bring
a
diverse
group
of
educators
together
on
a
quarterly
basis
that
will
look
at
different
problems
of
practice
and
we'll
be
able
they'll
be
able
to
bring
issues
to
me.

will
be
able
to
work
with
their
chair.
It's
really
going
to
be
their
their
council,
their
meeting,
but
really
being
able
to
empower
staff
to
get
their
voice
if
we're
planning
on
implementing
something
or
doing
something.
What
does
that
really
look
at
the
classroom,
level
level,
and
so
I've
been
it
in
some
other
districts
I've
been
in
and
it's
been
a
real
powerful
way
to
empower
staff,
boys,
teacher
voice
and
other
classified
voices.

Also,
later

later
this
evening,
you'll
hear
a
presentation:

middle
school
will
be
doing
their
report
and
I
just
want
to
talk
to
the
folks
that
are
in
the
room.
Anytime.
You
have
a
threat
incident
of
this
nature.
It's
very
alarming.
It's
a
warning
to
students,
it's
alarming
to
parents,
to
learning
to
our
staff.
Members
and
overall
I
just
think
that
the
administration
there
just
did
an
outstanding
job
with
support
of
central
office.
To
date,
we
have
not
tracked
down
who
sent
the
threat.

But
hats
off
to
town
Veronica's
about
there
and
Shawn
back
there.
We
kind
of
came
over
and
we
didn't
take
over.
They
kind
of
took
over
and
guided
us
through
through.
We
stayed
at
Stover.
An
entire
cabinet
stated
total
scholar
for
for
many
days,
but
it
was.
It
was
really
nice
to
see
how
they
were
able
to
come
in
comfort
staff
and
have
things
going
and
there's
just
a
lot
of
issues
when
something
comes
up
like
this
causing
a
lot
of
apprehension.
But
the
administration
hurt
your
entire
staff
at
stole
or
did
an
excellent
job.

And
finally,
just
as
we
go
through
get
ready
for
our
winter
break,
this
is
a
difficult
time
for
many
of
our
students,
many
of
our
staff
they're,
going
to
go
into
situations
that
are
precarious
at
police
and
usually
during
this
time
we
see
a
significant
uptick
in
different
behavior
issues,
as
students
prepare
to
go
through
school
and
what
I
will
say
is
for
most
students.
Our
school
up.
Schools
are
a
very
safe
place
to
be
it's
one
of
the
safest
places
they
can
be
in
some
instances.

It's
where
they're
getting
some
of
their
staples
to
include
food
and
clothing
and
not
having
that
available
cause
of
some
real
apprehension
with
a
lot
of
our
students.
So
what
I
can
tell
you
is
just
really
proud
of
the
way
that
beaver
can
takes
care
of
the
whole
child
and
talk
about
the
whole
child,
and
it's
evident
from
our
staff
and
complete
team.
We
are
here
to
educate
students
and
its
academics,
but
there's
a
lot
more
going
on
in
our
schools
besides
academics.

be

key
things
that
came
up.
The
first
was,
if
those

Butte,

area

jammed
with

people

grateful

wave
community,
as
well
as
to
district
staff
for
moving
this
community
meeting
to
that
space.

think
it
was
really
important
that
we
get
to
a
place
where
everyone
could
be
seen
and
heard
and
felt
part
of
that
process.

was
incredible
support
from
Washington
County,
Sheriff's
Department,
as
well
as
solar
and
other
district
staff
to
make
that
event
possible
and
meaningful
for
the
members
of
our
community.
The
thing
that
would
became
very
quickly
apparent
is
that
the
stoller
community,
the
spoke,
the
students
and
their
parents
and
the
staff
went
through
a
communal,
traumatic
event.

was
hard
for
me
to
understand
that
in
its
entirety
until
I
was
at
that
event,
but
it
was,
it
was
really
a
massive,
traumatic
event
where
students
were
kept
in
the
classroom,
hiding
for
for
many
hours
and
yeah
it's
hard
yeah.
It
wasn't
me
doing
it
and
it's
hard
for
me
to
imagine,
but
how
kids
will
perceive
school
government
that
will
be
a
benchmark
event
for
them.

know
we
think
of
snow
days
being
a
event
that
people
will
always
remember.

This
will
be
an
event
that
spiller
students
will
always
remember
the
overwhelming
feedback
from
the
community
with
snake
you
for
the
safety
that
had
been
provided
time
of
uncertainty,
also
important
for
the
board
to
understand.

was
a
high
level
of
interest
that
we
provide
security
in
ways
that
are
not
currently
being
done
at
a
place
like
Stoller.

This
facility
is
last
on
our
list
of
secure
entrance
places
with
good
cause.
The
school
was
not
designed
and
in
fact
we
have
I
would
submit.
We
have
enhanced
the
difficulties
by
choosing
to
have
it
be
over
enrolled.
The
large
number
of
portables,
as
well
as
this,
that
common
entrance,
which
is
within
it
office
that
is
step
back
from
the
current
entrance,
is
creates
challenges
that
are,
though,
not
insurmountable
are
different
than
in
many
of
our
buildings,
and
there
was
a
large
community
interest
to
see
those
things
addressed.

Responsibility
to
provide
safe
spaces
there
for
is
an
emphasis
on
reunification
plans
and
the
interest
in
making
sure
that
we
have
those
well

was
a
renewed
understanding
for
all
of
us
that,

contingencies,

should
be
thinking
of
days
when
not
every
district
staff
member
can
get
to
stronger

earthquake

that
we'd
be
dealing
with

prepared

staff
ready

face

challenge,

it's
important

board
members
to
internalize

means,

that's
gonna
look
like
through
great
each
of

large
interest
in
knowing
who's
in
the
building,
how
to
make
sure
that
substitute
teachers
are
well
prepared,
and
then
the
last
thing
that
really
came
through
to
me
in
my
observation.

was
the
incredible
amount
of
trust
that
people
put
in
us
every
day
for
caring
for
their

also
was
able
to
observe
that
their
trust
and
how
they
feel
about

system
is
largely
guided
by
their
own
experiences
in

schools.

people
who
have
been
treated
well
by
systems
in
the
past
are
going
to
bring
a
very
different
perspective
than
those
people
who
perhaps
are
new
to
the
country
or
new
to
Beaverton
School
District
or
have
been
mistreated
by
systems,
whether
it's
ours
or
others.

like
it's
really
important
for
us
to
think
about
this
in
terms
not
just
of
safety,
but
how
we
communicate
with
our
families
generally,
whether
it's
grades
or
whether
it's
student
notes
home.
But
these
are
their
perspectives,

largely
framed
by
how
they
interact
with
systems,
and
we
are
and
Stoller
that
one
for
biggest
systems
that
we.

bring
those
things

I
think
as
we
push
for
stable
and
adequate
state
funding

this

going
to
take
more
than
just
folks
in
the
education
community
to
get
there
and
across
the
finish
line.

we're
supporting
all
the
great
things
that
are,

does
and
since
this
wouldn't
be
a
Tom
comment
without
talking
about,
like
you
know,
parentheses
or
a
period
or
we're
here,
there
I
just
wanted
to
draw
your
attention
to
two
quick
changes:
the,
whereas
investment
in
education
is
proven
to
reduce
later
expenditures
of
healthcare
in
prisons.
The
first
version
that
went
out
online
said
underlying
economic
growth,
but
we
talked
about
this
in
committee.

how
we
can
better
support
the

we

district

lens
on
a
moment's
notice
for
decisions
that
we're
making.

we
really
distilled
it
down
to
show
about
four
questions
through
breaking.

wanted
to
create
a
collateral,
so
you
know
sort
of
have
available.

we
created
some
nice
poster
collateral
and
then
the
other
two
piece
handy
cardstock
piece.
It
would
be.
You
know
well
district
folks,
always
have
these
nice
lanyards
right
so
to
have
it
at
ready
access
and
then
and
everybody
likes
to
put
stickers
on
their
computers.
So
when
they're
up
in
meetings,
everybody
else
could
see
those
questions
that
we
should
be
asking.
