We're
going

do
things
just
a
little
bit
differently:
it's
not
a
first
school
board
meeting
of
the
school
year.
Here
we
met
in
August,
but
it's
our
first
one
since
school,
starting
or
glad
to
see
everyone
here.
But
we're
going
to
start
off
this
evening
with
a
very
important
subject:
bond
refinance
and
the
first
side
accounts,
and
we
have
a
great
supporter
and
collaborator
with
our
school
district
council.
So.

Finance
laws
of
this
type-
you
can
no
longer
do
them
on
a
tax-exempt
basis,
which
is
typically
the
way
the
school
district
lawyers.
What
that
means
in
English
is
that
investors
in
your
mom's
typically
do
not
pay
either
federal
or
state
word
in
income
tax
on
the
interest
income
they
receive.
A
refinancing
done
under
this
principles
could
not
be
done
on
a
tax
incentive
basis.
The
interest
would
be
subject
to
federal
income
tax,
despite
that
causing
interest
rates
to
be
somewhat
higher
than
despite
that
interest
rates
are
still
so
much
lower
than
borrowed
savings.

to
come
up
with

be
true
that
that
number
needed
to
be
at
least

percent.
Otherwise
you
could

think
that's

could
choose
to
do
it
if
the
savings
were
2%

from
a
prudent
financial
standpoint
you
wouldn't
want

always
refinance

is
still
a
very
healthy
brief
enhancing
and
hopefully
interest
rates
will
go
back
to
the
low
of
lows
such
that
the
number
is
closer
to
20,
but
either
way
it's
still
a
prudent
thing

do

significant
savings.

have

extended
period
of
time.

members

looking
forward

meeting

parents

community
members

the
upcoming
meetings
community
meetings,
what's
working
in
our
schools
and
identify
the
biggest
gaps
in
our
system
as
educators
who
are
working
with
students
every
day
we
see
the
cracks
in
the
system
when
our
students
are
slipping
through
and
it's
practitioners
of
their
work.
We
are
ready
with
lots
of
ideas
or
it
is
an
exciting
process
to
be
undertaking
and
we're
also
looking
for
that
have
some
having
some
authentic
engagement
opportunities
between
educators
and
parents
and
our
community
members.

built
into

student
success
factor
process
in
order
to
gather
some
more
detail,
needs
assessment
data.
We
have
sent
out
a
survey
to
our
members
and
includes
a
checklist.

is
research.
Research
based
and
I
would
encourage
you
to
take
a
look
at
our
survey
and
takers,
for
maybe
I
mean
intended
for
our
members,
but
it's
also
a
perfect
way
for
other
staff
aboard
parents.

members

share
a
message
for
not
just
members
of
the
board,
but
also
our
members,
rich
Education
Association
and
our
broader
community,
about
the
importance
of
us
as
educators
being
lifelong
learners,
too.
We
asked
our
students
every
day
to
become
pathetic
and
to
ask
questions
and
listen
as
though
their
minds
can
be
changed
and
we
need
to
do
the
same
as
adults.
This
fall.
Our
teachers
and
students
will
be
digging
into
some
new
health.
Health
curriculum
excuse
me
and
standards
are
more
inclusive
of
our
lgbtq+
community
and
provide
a
more
modern
and
comprehensive
health
education.

addition,
I'm
very
grateful
super
intimated
brian
has
probably
made
a
commitment
to
do
some
deeper
equity
work
in
our
district
to
work,
face
deeps
to
explore
and
dismantle
system
that
have
created
inequities
and
opportunity
gaps
for
students.
How
do
we
move
forward
in
this
critical
work
that
can
really
challenge
us
as
educators
and
as
people?

We
need
to
be
willing
to
learn
to
ask
questions
about
our
own
practice
pattern
of
thinking
and
to
apathetically,
listen
to
the
experiences
and
stories
of
not
not
only
our
students,
but
also
of
our
colleagues
in
the
system,
and
it
is
our
shared
responsibility
to
create
and
maintain
a
welcoming
and
inclusive
school
environment
for
all
of
our
students
and,
first
time
so.
I
look
forward
to
seeing
some
of
you
I
hope
tomorrow.

that
conversation,.

that,
because
I'm
only
having
every
other
day
band
when
I
was
in
Middle
School,
it
is
such
a
critical
time
learning
time
that
I
was
an
applicant
as
unfair
playing
field.
So
my
peers
that
way
to
Hyde,
Park
and
Conestoga
had
a
way
better
way:
better
musical
education
simply
because
they've
had
double
the
playing
time
on
the
insurance
when
I
first
learned
to
play
trumpet,
which
is
my
main
instrument
to
know.

If
all
mine
alone
were
my
teachers,
I
learned
how
to
play
the
trumpet
correctly
and
so
for
the
first
four
years
of
playing
I
was
the
metal
being
bad
habits,
and
my
teacher
had
boy
and
had
me
and
had
my
teacher
hadn't
work.
She
made
fun
with
my
mistakes
and
corrected
it
early
on,
but
instead
mr.
Zander,
my
current
manager
caught
it
during
my
sophomore
year.
So
the
Sun
was
before
my
junior
year.
O
I
worked
on
correcting
it,
but
when
I
was
corrected
by
playing
my
range
dr.,
leach,
the
octave
and
a
half
and
I'm
still
trying
to
recover
from
to
this
day,
I
hope.
After
doing
this,
you
guys
will
realize
that
how
significant
everyday
bandages
and
that
day,
that
sometime
soon,
you
guys
will
destroy
every
day
band
to
every
middle
school,
so
that.

With
my
two
minutes,
I
do
want
to
take
part
of
that
time
to
thank
you
for
your
efforts
and
it's
been
really
great
to
meet
a
lot
of
you
over
the
summer
and
there's
been
some
good
changes
and
I.
Thank
you
guys

I

mutual
respect
we've
had
conversation.

Unfortunately,
on
the
flip
side,
over
the
summer,
I
learned
a
controversial
material
that
had
been
adopted
into
the
elementary
school
curriculum.
No
parent
in
my
network
had
knowledge
of
this.
It
was
the
revised
great
body
shop
I'm,
asking
the
board
to
hold
off
on
the
supplemental
materials,
the
revised
great
body
shop
until
parents
have
time
to
review
some
other
areas
of
improvement.
I
attended
our
elementary
school
back-to-school
night.

There
was
some
time
allotted
to
review
materials
in
the
library,
because
I
had
a
1st
4th,
grader
I
had
to
go
to
different
classrooms,
and
I
only
had
about
15
minutes
to
review
the
material
and
to
continue
to
review
the
material.
You
have
to
schedule
an
appointment
principal,
and
there
just
seems
to
be
a
little
bit
of
an
obstacle
and
I
ask
that
there
be
at
least
an
hour
of
uninterrupted
time
for
parents
to
review
the
material
and
also
give
opportunity
to
opt
out
without
viewing
the
material
as
per
organ
law.

After
reviewing
the
material,
we
thought
the
teachings
would
begin
in
December,
but
to
our
surprise,
you
received
a
newsletter
over
the
weekend
that
health
plans
would
start
the
next
week.
This
doesn't
give
parents
time
to
review
and
opt-out.
This
doesn't
need
to
be
rushed,
we're
not
wanting
to
do
damage.
These
are
sensitive
topics
with
many
different
beliefs,
so
we
need
to
figure
it
out
before
rolling
it
out
same
as
kind
of
as
Becky
was
saying
earlier,
with
designing.

concerns
about
this
next

Health
curriculum
I
feel
like
it.
A
lot
of
it
is
sexually
explicit
and
ancient
appropriate.

allow
parents

opt
out,
but
at
the
back-to-school
night

stoller
parents
were
told
they
had
their
unit
before
opting
out.

had
to
schedule
time
with
a
principal
and
read
over
the
material
first
before
opting
out

why

there
barriers
do
names,
obstacles
benefit
their
families?
Are
you
afraid
of
what
parents
will
discover
if
they
actually
breathe
and
have
the
time
to
read
over
all
the
material
I
feel
this
moment,
the
most
vulnerable
families,
unaware
of
controversial
sex,
ed
content?
We
are
working
two
to
three
jobs.

conditions

training,

training
has
significance,

to
be
made
by
scientific
research,

list

benefits
include

better
attention
focused
emotional
regulation.

are
skills
that
are
crucial
for
student
success

say
that
for
another
discussion,
I'm
here
tonight
to
talk
about
the
urgent
school
district
house
of
the
Student
Success
act
with
reinstating
certified
school
librarians
in
our
schools.
Back
in
2010,
the
state
legislature
outlined
what
strong
school
library
program
look
like
and
they
have
very
descriptively,
and
every
year
the
district
has
to
report
their
continuous
improvement
process.

We
talked
a
lot
about
reading
scores
in
literacy
and
teachers
and
librarians
working
together
to
educate
students
about
misinformation
and
how
we
want
our
kids
to
graduate
and
be
prepare
for
college
well,
I'm.
Just
saying
that
a
school
librarian
has
molasses
about
their
job.
They
are
one
person
you
can
see
a
variety
of
grade
levels
and
can
have
input
in
a
variety
of
different
areas.

So
I'm
asking
the
board
to
direct
the
Student
Success
act,
members
to
really
consider
that
as
something
that
we
do
live
or
because
six
years
ago
or
seven
years
ago,
I
wasn't
here,
but
as
a
board
member
promised
that
we
would
bring
the
library
and
musicians
back
and
so
I'm
hoping
that
you
would
really
consider
that.

some
brain
damage

leak,

say

Safety

our
students
and
staff
was
first.
We
wanted
to
make
sure
that
number
one.
There
are
quality
that
they're
in
a
safe
environment
and
we
don't.

Timberland
doing
a
community

folks

making

move

quickly
as
possible
and
also
special
thank
you
to
the
ACMA
community.
So
right
now
they
currently
occupy
Timberland
and
principal
Paige,
and
his
entire
staff

reached
out

West
TV
elementary
community
and
bringing
them,
and
so
the
school
has
the
capacity
to
serve
both
schools
and
so
I
think
it's
going
to
be.

we
also
had
a
water
issue
at
Cedar,
Park,
Elementary,
School
and
once
again,
roughing
and
whatnot
and
I
just
want
to
shout
out
to
those
staff
and
that
principal
and
the
operations
team
that
community
really
came
together
and
made
up
work
and
lots
of
hard
work
by
all
of
our
staff
members.
They
were
in
there
over
the
weekend
right
before
school
started.

had
to
be
80,

degrees.
In
there
there
was
absolutely
no
conditioning
they'll
wear
back
that
those
teachers
were
in
there
getting
ready
and
doing
whatever
it
took
to
have
school.

we're
up

our

making
sure
that
the
money

used
wisely
by
all
the
school
districts
and
she
wanted
to
reach
out
to
do
some
various
school
districts
and
find
out
what
is
their
method
for
getting
into
some
of
our
communities,
and
especially
some
of
those
folks
that
are
not
normally
engaged
in
the
process.
And
so
we
share
whether
some
of
their
great
ideas
that
are
going
around
on
the
Beaverton
School
District
other
school
districts.

that

did
spend
a
year
at
Kahneman
and
Meniere's
that
Jacob.

think

this
as
our
story
as
we
start
working
on
our
school
learning
plan,
we
see
ourselves
as
a
strong
community
that
comes
together
for
the
needs
of
our
students.
The
staff
wins
a
nice
balance
between
rigor
and
fun
work
school
community
with
the
new
development.

So
we
have
three
new
developments
or
currently
feeding
it
to
us.
So
we've
had
a
lot
of
enrollment
over
the
summer,
so
really
trying
to
bring
our
new
families
and
new
students
into
our
community
and
help
them
feel
welcome.
We
have
amazing
Eric
community.
We
have
lots
of
very
volunteers
in
a
very
strong
PTO
that
works
to
bring
enrichment
and
extra
curricular
type
activities
evening
things
like
dances
and
movie
nights,
and
things
like
that.

have
an
experienced
staff.
Many
of
our
staff
have
been
there
for
many
years
formed
and
valued
and
I
really
do
believe
that
the
staff
does
a
lot
of
work
with
seesaw
and
sharing
student
work
with
parents,
as
Lauren
is
informing
that
with
newsletters
and
things
like
that.
We
do
have
an
ISC
program
in
our
school
and
about
the
independent
skill
center,
and
so
we
work
really
hard
to
the
inclusion.

energetic
classrooms
in
our.

So
we're
noticing
that
our
math
scores
are
something
that
we're
concerned
about,
and
we
do
note
that
our
5th
graders
have
had
three
different
curriculums,
but
that's
not
an
excuse.
It's
just
something
as
we're
moving
forward
to
really
look
at.
How
can
we
bridge
some
gaps
that
they
may
have
had
so
really
looking
at
professional
development
around
math
and
implementation
as
we
move
forward?

the

a
student
success
coach?
So
we
really
rely
heavily
on
that
and
we
do
find
it
extremely
valuable.
One
challenge
is
that
we
only
have
a
half
an
application
which
is
very
challenging
when
we
have
nearly
600
kids
with
Ric
program,
so
we
were
full-time
counselor
and
a
half
time
student
success
coach.
So
a
large
student
success
coach
does
lessons
in
classrooms,
but
also
does
student
support.
So
we
created
a
system
called
a
joiner,
an
SOS,
so
teachers
can
call
it.

They
need
a
joiner
which
is
someone
to
come
because
they
think
a
student
is
going
to
ask
you
like
escalate
versus
an
SOS
as
I
need.
Someone
immediately
met
it's
already
there,
so
we
generally
her
to
identify
the
escalation
behaviors
before
they
happen.
You
asked
about
room
fears.
So
last
year
we
had
about
8
to
10
the
PV
sure
I
wasn't
there,
but
tonight
to
get
some
answers
and
we
think
they
had
more
like
10
to
20.
So
we've
been
really
training
staff
on
how
to
recognize.
We
have
calm
corners.

know
how
the
student
success
coaching
counselors
share
a
space
called
the
Student
Success
Center.
So
that's
a
place
where
they
can
meet
with
children
and
do
groups
so
we're
trying
to
build
those
things
in
and
recognized
in
children
before
they
get
to
that
point
we
have
tried
to
remove
the
kid
versus
I'm
getting
to
an
escalation
point
where
we
need
to
know
real
clear.
We
also
have
classes
going
drop
box
or
movement
breaks.

class
before
it's
everywhere,
so
trying
to
do
some
creative
strategies
around
that.

that
it's
something
we
rely

there's
only

person
that
myself

let

without

just
nice
to
have
extra
support.

constant
sense

care
in
our
community
teachers

well
aware
that
students

care
when

things

up

kids
tend
to
show
you
right
away
like
they
are
gonna
need
some
special
care.

think

teachers
do
an
amazing
job
of
nurturing
and
investing
in
those
students,
so
they
can
invest
in
themselves.

the
highest

whole
district.

our

our
staff

our
coordinator

kids,

have
two
classes

sixth
grade
students

my
back-to-school
night.
So
it's
it's
really
a
joy
to
watch
that
program
grow.

think
that's
true
with
anything

there,

they
don't
come
to
work
because
they
don't
feel

motional

ripples
out
everywhere,
but
definitely
there's
a
chunk
of
our
students
who
will
say
I'm
too
anxious
to
come
to
school.

a
really
really
hot
topic.

Seen
increasing
that
in
my
last
few
years
in
education.
That
I
think
is
astronomical.

Our
primary
reason
for
wanting
to
reconfigure
our
schedule
was
that
we
felt
two-fold
that
students
were
spending
some
classes
at
the
end
of
the
period
just
like
doing
homework
or
you
know
working
on
a
project
and
it
feel
like
it
was
really
about
about
learning
and
the
teachers
felt
like
the
class
period
was
too
long
like
they
were
losing
kids
over
the
course
about
87
minutes.
Kids
would
get
up.

We've
worked
for
months,
looking
at
different
schedules
and
configuring
a
schedule
where
we
could
have
an
every
day
advisory
to
support
students.
So
the
goal
of
that
advisory
is
to
make
sure
that
students
have
a
safe
and
loving
place
with
an
adult.
That
knows
them
really
well.
That
will
help
make
sure
their
academic
and
personal
growth
and
we're
really
proud
of
that
work
and
they
use.

use
that
social-emotional
curriculum
for
two
days
of
the
week
to
work
with
them
and
when
we
do
academics
two
days
a
week,
so
our
schedule
allowed
us
to
do
that.

allowed
the
students
to
cross
great
levels
for
lunches
which
really
made
a
lot
of
parents,
nervous
and
I
understand.

especially,
give
a
sixth
grader,
it
seems
scary,
but
the
kids
are
so
much
better
behaved
during
lunches
and
passing
that's
good,
they're
kind
of
on
their
best
behavior.

is
my
eighth
year,
so
I
hope
to
see
Michele
for
a
second
more
years,
totally
just
to
kind
of
highlight
some
things
for
our
school.
In
my
introduction,
reflection,
first
of
all,
kind
of
according
to
Mitch
calm,
our
school
achieved
number
one
ranking
for
charter
schools
in
the
state
of
Oregon,
which
added
to
our
increase
in
number
of
students
and
interest,
and
especially
when
it
came
battery
times.
We
have
a
longer
wait
list.
We
also
received
a
recognition
of
leadership
award
from
Portland
State
University
and
the
Confucius
Institute
that
we
greatly
appreciated.

And
how
well
the
kids
are
doing,
but
more
important
than
some
of
those
achievements
is
really
what
we
see
in
our
feedback
from
our
families
and
our
students.
So
we
had
94%
of
our
families
to
say
that
they
felt
welcomed
and
accepted
in
our
school,
with
85%
of
them,
giving
us
an
A
or
B
rating
for
school.
Also,
the
majority
of
our
families
responded
that
they
felt
well
informed
and
participate
and
feel
that
their
child
is
receiving
a
positive
learning
opportunity.

if

this
last
year,
the
science
that
we're
always
focusing
on
was
also
to
support
our
students
more
with
their
social,
emotional
learning
and
one
of
the
steps
that
we
took
to
do.

was
to
hire
opportunity

really
helping
to
instill
restorative
justice
practices
not
only
with
the
students,
but
also
the
staff
I,
also
initiated
development
of
using
the
programs
champs
for
our
teachers
to
improve
the
classroom,
management
and
Tier
one
supports
for
students
in
the
classroom.

Our
math
team
actually
won
recognition
for
both
individuals
and
ranked
like
top
20
in
actually

was
worldwide
top
20%
and
our
chess
team
got
to
play
the
state's
room
it
once
again
bringing
the
largest
team
in
Oregon,

players
came
to
compete.

addition,
our
teachers
are,
we
had
fun
with
our
Chinese
teachers,
present
national
Chinese
language
conference
again
this
year,
demonstrating
best
practices
and
good,
effective
teaching
strategies.

had

start
to
this
school

look

and
have
been
on

staff,

in
our

program

that
meets
our

great

skilled

momentum

projects

great

alumni

community
and

something

collaborate
on

a
wonderful
project
and
congratulations

Beavers
in

fund
on
a
very
well-done

encourage

of

Ari
mentioned
earlier,
had
the
opportunity
at
the
ACMA
groundbreaking
on
Saturday
beautiful
day,
but
it
was
just
a
great
reminder
is
what
a
wonderful
community
we
have
to
support
these
kind
of
projects
and
that
that
we
are
promised
what
we
promised
the
voters.
We
are
down
our
final
project
and
it
really
felt
good
to
be
starting
on
that
final
project.

students

they

operated
for
their
senior
year
