Description
Mayor Gregory visits with members of the 932nd Air Lift Wing during Military Appreciation Month
A
B
I'm
carl
glenn
collins,
I'm
the
commander
of
the
932nd
airlift
wing
here
at
scott
air
force
base
in
illinois.
Our
job
at
the
932nd
is
essentially
to
train
airmen.
We
are
comprised
of
four
different
groups.
We
have
a
flying
group
called
an
operations
group.
They
have
four
aircraft
which
you
will
probably
see
in
some
video
here
and
that
job
is
to
fly
congressional
delegations
and
the
first
lady
and
other
dignitaries
through
executive
airlift
throughout
the
world.
We
have
a
maintenance
group
that
keeps
these
planes
in
ship
shape.
B
We
have
a
medical
group
that
deploys
around
the
world
and
serves
our
airmen
in
a
very
variety
of
medical
capacities,
and
then
we
have
a
mission
support
group
and
they
do
a
variety
of
tasks
and
they
work
from
being
civil
engineers,
security
forces,
firefighters
and
other
administrative
personnel.
We
comprise
of
about
1100
airmen,
and
we
come
from
all
over
the
country,
although
primarily
about
half
of
us,
originate
within
about
a
250
square
mile
radius
or
a
radius
of
of
scott
air
force
base.
B
So
the
community,
our
relationship
with
the
community,
is
paramount,
as
we
like
to
tell
our
community
partners
that
they
really
are
partners
working
with
us
in
order
for
us
to
be
able
to
do
what
we
do.
Our
airmen
are
basically
born
in
your
hospitals.
They
have
been
educated
in
your
schools
and
they
live
and
work
in
your
community
and
without
the
community
support
we
don't
have
them
here
in
the
reserve
capacity
to
do
what
they
do
to
serve
their
nation.
We
called
upon
so
our
relationship
with
the
community
is
paramount.
B
C
Good
afternoon
yeah,
my
name
is
chief
master
and
christian
bianca,
I'm
the
command
chief
for
the
932nd
airlift
wing,
I'm
here
as
a
as
a
representative
for
the
commander
to
all
things
enlisted
an
advisor
to
him,
an
advisor
to
the
command
team
into
the
wing
prior
for
still
currently
an
air
medical
evacuation
technician,
that's
how
I
got
into
the
career
field,
and
so
but
yeah.
That's
basically
my
job,
I'm
here
to
help
the
enlisted
give
the
voice
and
the
opinions
he
listed.
The
commander
help
him
provide
combat
ready,
citizen,
airmen.
D
D
E
Hi,
my
name
is
senior
airman
calvin
rosebud.
I
am
an
administ
assistant
here
with
the
932nd
operations
group
in
my
civilian
career,
I'm
a
membership
director
actually
at
the
downtown
belleville
y.
So
you
know
the
my
civilian
career,
my
air
force
career.
It
integrates
because
I
get
to
do
great
things
to
carry
out
the
mission
for
the
community.
F
F
Mine
is
more
medical
with
the
asts,
so
every
unit
works
together
to
complete
what
missions
that
we
need
to
accomplish
within
our
wing
and
what
the
air
force
needs
us
to
do
in
general.
The
overall
mission
is
to
support
what
the
air
force
needs
us
to
do
in
regards
to
anywhere.
They
need
to
send
us.
I
know,
there's
other
divisions
when
it
comes
to
plane
maintenance,
so
we
have
maintenance
here
we
have
operations
here
administration,
but
we
all
work
together
to
accomplish
one
mission.
G
H
H
I
live
up
in
highland
illinois,
so
I'm
just
just
up
the
road-
and
I
grew
up
about
an
hour
from
here
closer
to
like
vandalia
in
effingham.
I
My
name
is
masterjohn
gomez,
I'm
a
science,
united
32nd
aes,
I'm
an
aeromedical
evacuation
technician.
We
provide
fixed
wing
airlift
for
patients
on
the
field
and
during
contingency
operations
to
include
humanitarian
relief.
I'm
originally
from
chicago
illinois,
currently
moved
to
o'fallon.
It's
a
real
nice
community.
J
K
Name
is
sergeant
carola
anselmi
and
I'm
also
assigned
to
the
73rd
airlift
squadron
I've
been
with
the
unit
way
less
than
the
my
other
co-workers
here.
Only
a
year
and
a
half
we
support,
basically
the
wing
and
many
other
leaders
in
the
nations
to
make
sure
that
they
are
where
they're
supposed
to
be
in
a
safe
manner
and
they
receive
the
best
customer
service
possible,
and
it
definitely
takes
a
big
team
to
accomplish
that
and
we're
definitely
capable
of
doing
that.
We
have
a
strong
team
here.
The
70s
I'm
tech
sergeant.
L
Ginger
stewart
I'm
a
flight
attendant
with
the
73rd
airlift
squadron
well
for
the
flight
attendants.
First,
we
coordinate
who
our
passengers
are
going
to
be,
how
many
passengers
we're
going
to
have.
We
do
all
of
the
meals
for
the
missions,
and
so
that
includes
finding
out
if
they
have
any
food
allergies,
what
their
food
preferences
might
be.
L
We
then
shop
for
those
meals
and
prepare
those
meals
on
the
plane
that
allows
the
people
that
we
are
transporting
the
ability
to
have
good
rest
have
good
meals
and
that
way,
when
they
arrive
at
their
locations,
they're
good
to
go
and
ready
to
go
and
handle
all
of
their
meetings
and
all
the
things
that
they
need
to
do
and
get
done.
We
fly
congressmen
senators.
We
fly
a
lot
of
military
leaders.
L
We
even
fly
the
academy
teams
every
once
in
a
while.
So
we
have
a
wide
range
of
people
that
we
support.
They
are
representing
the
united
states
to
the
rest
of
the
world
to
the
rest
of
the
world's
leaders,
and
so
we
want
them
to
be
able
to
sit
down
with
them
face
to
face.
Maybe
even
have
a
meal
with
them
be
able
to
have
face-to-face
conversations
that
they
can
explain
things
and
understand
things.
They
wouldn't
be
able
to
do
over
over
email
or
over
any
other
type
of
communication.
L
M
Name
is
major
neil
sampson,
I'm
the
chief
of
public
affairs
here
at
the
932nd
airlift
wing,
as
the
public
affairs
chief
we're
in
charge
of
imagery
video.
M
We
we
take
care
of
the
community
relations
as
well
to
make
sure
that
we
interface
with
the
community.
As
you
saw
we
we
have
mayor
patty
gregory
is
our
honorary
wing
commander
and
we
make
sure
that
that
she
she's
able
to
do
a
lot
of
civic
outreach
with
her
wing
and,
as
you
know,
she's
very
proactive
with
the
wing.
But
we
also
take
care
of
strategic
messaging
as
well.
M
M
Today's
picnic
was
a
really
good
example
of
how
we
saw
that
cooperation
where
we
saw
our
our
members
enjoying
themselves,
and
it
also
showed
a
lot
of
support
from
the
mayor,
the
city
and
the
local
community,
which
is
something
I
have
not
seen
at
my
past
duty
stations,
even
though
that
we
have
an
impact
on
the
local
community.
The
local
community
has
an
impact
on
our
our
mission
and
again,
you
know
we
can't
re-emphasize
that
we
cannot
do
it
without
without
the
belleville
metro,
east
area
and
the
st
louis
area
as
well.
N
O
O
So
all
three
of
those
things
we
have
to
make
sure
you
know
those
pillars
are
taken
care
of
in
order
for
us
to
be
here
and
to
do
our
job.
That's
a
big
part
of
my
job
as
a
first
sergeant
is
to
make
sure
that
their
mental
health
is
being
taken
care
of.
So
if
they
come
back
from
a
deployment
or
they
come
back,
they
have
a
tragic
event.
We
need
to
make
sure
that
they
are
being
seen
that
they're
taken
care
of
and
that
they
can
be
here.
O
The
physical
piece
is,
you
know,
rpt
or
just
going
to
the
gym
doing
whatever
you
need
to
do
to
get
that
release.
Yoga
is
an
awesome
avenue
for
that,
and
then
you
know
the
spirituality,
whatever
you
believe.
We
support
that
as
well.
So
we
have
services
on
the
weekends
for
members
to
go
to
at
the
chapel
so
that
they
can
exercise
that
spirituality
piece
of
who
they
are.
B
So
here
in
the
wing
at
the
9th
32nd,
our
wing
in
most
wings
job
is
simply
to
train
airmen.
So
we
have
1100
airmen
here
from
a
variety
of
occupations
and
our
job
is
to
train
them
and
prepare
them
to
go
and
do
whatever
our
nation
is
required
and
provide
them
to
combat
commanders
when
needed.
To
do
so.
Recently,
we've
had
250
plus
airmen
deployed
all
over
the
world
in
places
over
the
middle
east
and
here
in
the
united
states
tending
to
refugees
and
other
things.
