A
Hello
and
welcome
to
laketown
lake
a
show
about
our
beautiful
city
of
bellevue.
I'm
your
host
robin
steele
today
we're
coming
to
you
from
kelsey
creek
farm
park,
where,
on
this
episode
of
lake
to
lake,
we're
visiting
some
farm
animals
and
gearing
up
for
the
annual
sheep
shearing
we'll
show
you
a
great
new
transportation
project.
A
That's
enhancing
safety
and
mobility
for
bicyclists
downtown
and
we'll
explain
how
new
smart
meters
will
help
you
track
your
water
use
and
save
money,
as
I
mentioned,
we're
here
at
kelsey,
creek
farm
and
all
living
creatures,
including
bob
here,
need
water
for
life,
so
we're
starting
with
a
look
at
an
important
new
project
in
bellevue
involving
your
water.
Just
this
month,
our
utilities
department
began
installing
new
smart
water
meters.
That
will
be
fully
operational
next
year,
see
how
these
new
meters
can
help.
You
track
your
water
usage,
conserve
water
and
save
you
money
right.
A
B
B
This
will,
let
you
see
your
water
usage
patterns,
spot
possible
leaks
and
identify
ways
to
save
money
before
your
water
meter
is
upgraded.
You'll
receive
a
notice,
letting
you
know
approximately
when
installers
will
be
in
your
neighborhood.
The
process
of
replacing
water
meters
is
simple
and
should
not
have
a
significant
impact
on
you
or
your
schedule.
B
B
Bellevue
utilities
and
its
authorized
contractors
will
always
present
clear
identification
if
you're,
not
home
or
can't
answer
the
door.
The
installer
will
check
the
meter
for
signs
of
active
water
use.
This
step
will
help
prevent
an
unexpected
interruption
in
your
water
service.
The
meter
upgrade
should
only
take
about
15
minutes,
and
the
installer
will
leave
a
notice
on
your
door
once
the
work
is
complete.
B
A
C
108Th
avenue
complete
street
project
was
a
great
project
that
we
constructed
back
in
summer
last
year.
The
complete
street
project
starts
right
about
here,
just
south
of
main
street
and
goes
all
the
way
to
the
north
end
of
downtown
near
northeast
12th
street.
It
addresses
a
whole
bunch
of
different
safety
and
operational
deficiencies
from
traffic
perspective,
increases
bike
safety,
increases
pedestrian
safety
and
makes
it
more
accessible
for
vehicles
to
use
the
curbside.
C
The
corridor
also
pairs
with
the
overall
vision
of
downtown
being
a
very
pedestrian
friendly
district.
So
the
complete
street
project
did
numerous
different
things
to
the
corridor
through
downtown.
We
created
a
continuous
protected
bike
lane
in
both
directions.
Up
at
northeast,
2nd
and
108th,
we
reconstructed
pretty
much
every
corner
of
the
intersection
upgraded,
curb
ramps.
So
it's
easier
for
pedestrians
with
disabilities
to
access
the
crosswalk.
We've
actually
widened
the
crosswalk
and
made
it
a
decorative
treatment.
So
it's
increasing
the
livability
of
the
the
downtown
area.
C
We've
designated
more
curbside
areas
on
108th
avenue
for
pickup
and
drop-off
before
it
was
fairly
difficult
to
safely
be
picked
up
or
get
dropped
off
on
108.
all
right.
So
right
now
I'm
stopped
at
a
bike
detection
area
at
108th
and
main
street
near
downtown
bellevue,
where
I'm
resting
right
now.
On
top
of
this
bike,
detection
will
activate
the
bike,
dedicated
signal
which
will
allow
me
to
go
in
front
of
all
traffic
in
a
protected
phase.
I.
D
C
Between
northeast,
2nd
and
northeast
4th
street
in
the
southbound
direction,
you
might
notice
that
we
have
a
new
raised
protected
bike
lane.
So
what
we've
done
is
raised
the
bike
lane,
so
vehicles
can't
come
in
and
block
the
bike
lane
we've
added
red
pavement
markings
on
the
ground
up
at
bay,
1
and
bay,
12
of
the
bellevue
transit
center.
Those
are
the
north
and
southbound
curbside
lanes.
We
added
the
red
there
to
emphasize
the
transit
condition
and
to
make
it
a
little
bit
more
visible
for
passengers
that
are
looking
for
their
specific
bus.
C
The
the
long-term
vision
is
to
create
an
all
ages
and
abilities
bike
corridor
on
108th
avenue,
so
it
doesn't
matter
if
you're,
eight
years
old
or
80
years
old,
you
can
feel
comfortable
riding
on
the
street.
C
Every
enhancement
that
we
made
on
108th
was
with
the
intent
of
making
a
safer,
walking
and
biking
condition.
This
is
in
line
with
the
city's
vision.
Zero
goals
to
eliminate
all
traffic
deaths
and
serious
injuries
by
2030..
