A
Hello
and
welcome
to
Lake
to
Lake
a
show
about
our
beautiful
city
of
bellevue,
I'm
Robin
steel
house.
Up
this
month
we
celebrate
the
official
groundbreaking
for
the
bellevue
downtown
park,
complete
the
circle
and
inspiration
playground
projects
cover
a
recent
forum
on
affordable
housing,
look
at
a
powerful
exercise
depicting
the
dangers
of
driving
under
the
influence.
Take
you
to
Bellevue's
popular
water
spray
playground
and
show
you
some
fun
summer
day
camps.
B
C
D
Was
a
special
day
for
myself
for
the
community,
for
Bellevue,
for
children
with
and
without
disabilities,
we
celebrated
the
groundbreaking
for
the
inspiration,
playground
and
sensory
Gardens
I
think
what
makes
this
project
unique
at
its
own
ways,
it's
really
focused
on
getting
children
and
adults
with
and
without
disabilities
together
in
a
natural
play
environment.
When
you
get
people
with
and
without
disabilities
together,
then,
where
people
were
focused
on
the
disability,
initially
within
20
or
30
minutes,
they're
focused
on
the
individual
if
they
forgotten
the
disability
all
together,
it's.
E
F
First
purchase
the
downtown
park
in
December
of
1984,
and
we
worked
hard
for
years
and
years
to
get
a
design
approved
and
we
pleaded
for
years
and
years
to
get
this
circle
completed.
That
was
absolutely
imperative,
because
it
was
the
only
way
to
make
this
design
whole
so
some
30
years
later.
Finally,
seeing
that
on
the
horizon,
it
means
a
great
deal
to
me.
I,
look
around
and
I
see
the
entire
park
surrounded
by
high
rise,
residential
and
commercial
property.
F
C
A
G
I
want
to
talk
about
affordable
housing
in
bellevue
who
it
serves,
what
it
is
and
why
all
of
us
benefit
by
it.
So,
let's
start
with
some
statistics,
the
average
median
income
in
King
County
in
2014,
was
about
88,000
dollars
a
year.
People
who
work
for
our
current
washington
state
minimum
wage
of
nine
dollars
and
forty-seven
cents
an
hour
earn
less
than
twenty
thousand
dollars
a
year
over
90
100
Bellevue
households,
which
is
seventy
percent.
G
Seventeen
percent
of
our
households
in
about
22,000
people
earn
less
than
fifty
percent
of
the
average
median
income
that
comes
out
to
less
than
forty
four
thousand
dollars
a
year.
A
household
is
considered
cost
burdened
if
they
pay
more
than
thirty
percent
of
their
income
on
housing,
almost
one-third
of
all
Bellevue
households
are
cost
burdened
and
over
half
of
our
senior
renters
are
cost
burdened
starting.
H
With
the
issue
statement,
what
is
it
that
that
is
the
issue,
and
that
is
that
the
cost
of
housing
is
increasing
at
a
faster
rate
than
income?
That's
true!
Throughout
the
region,
in
fact,
there
was
an
article
in
the
paper
today
about
twelve
percent
increase
in
the
cost
of
housing
in
Seattle
alone
in
the
last
12
months,
so
were
the
the
fastest
I'm.
H
Sorry,
the
now
the
most
expensive
in
terms
of
the
percentage
increase
in
the
nation,
it's
critically
important
to
provide
a
safe,
healthy
and
affordable
place
to
live
for
people
of
all
income
levels
in
order
to
sustain
Bellevue's,
livability
and
economic
vitality.
So
as
councilmember
Robinson
was
talking
about
this
is
this
is
about
housing
people,
but
it's
also
about
everything
else.
That's
important
to
the
community
in
terms
of
livability
in
terms
of
economic
vitality
in
terms
of
community.
H
H
Twenty
dollars
an
hour,
which
is
a
little
more
than
twice
the
minimum
wage,
now
we're
up
to
about
sixty
percent
of
median
income
for
a
single
person,
but
still
less
than
half
of
median
income
for
a
family
of
four,
and
these
are
a
lot
of
the
jobs
that
we
have
in
Bellevue.
So
if
people
want
to
live
in
bellevue,
if
they
work
in
bellevue
and
they
want
to
live
in
bellevue
they're
going
to
have
a
very
difficult
time,
finding
a
place
to
live
that
they
can
afford.
If.
A
You'd

entire
forum

housing,
you
can
see
it
on

or
anytime
on

Next,
just
before
the
end
of
the
school
year,
Bellevue
Fire
and
Police
hosted
a
series
of
drills
to
help
teens
see
the
tragic
consequences
of
driving
under
the
influence.
What
you're
about
to
see
is
a
graphic
portrayal,
but
please
be
aware
this
was
only
a
drill.
J
M
Today
we
had
a
drill
at
sammamish
high
school.
We
call
it
a
DUI
drill.
Basically,
the
intent
of
the
drill
is
to
show
the
student
body
junior
and
senior
class.
What
would
happen
if
they
were
to
take
part
in
driving
out
of
the
influence.
So
we
have.
We
have
a
group
of
students
that
are
from
sammamish
it's
a
group
of
kids
that
this
student
body
can
relate
to.
They
see
them
in
the
hallway
every
day
they
know
who
they
are
their
friends
and
we
have
a
reenactment.
M
L
I
M
These
vehicle
accidents
I
see
these
crashes
in
real
life
when
I'm
on
duty
I,
respond
to
these
injuries
and
I
have
to
take
care
of
these
people
in
real
life
and
I
feel
like
if
I
can
prevent
one
crash
or
prevent
any
of
these
kids
from
being
involved
in
an
accident
like
that,
then
I
feel
like
it's.
It's
worthwhile
I
have.

If
you
bend
a

recent
weeks,
it's
probably
taken
you
a
little
longer
than
normal.
That's
because
the

of

is
closed,
but
don't
worry
you
can
still
get
here
to

here
at

by

of
