First,
we
wanted
to
give
you
an
update
on
some
important
transportation
safety
projects
approved
by
bellevue
residents.
Five
years
ago,
in
november,
2016
bellevue
voters
approved
a
20-year
neighborhood
safety,
connectivity
and
congestion
levy.
Today,
we're
pleased
to
show
you
how
these
projects
are
already
making
important
improvements
in
your
neighborhood.
B
We're
five
years
into
a
20-year
levy.
In
november
2016
voters
approved
the
neighborhood
safety
connectivity
and
congestion
levy.
The
levy
helps
us
build
more
of
what
the
neighborhoods
want
in
terms
of
transportation
infrastructure,
their
variety
of
projects
that
the
levy
helps
to
fund.
Most
of
them
are
primarily
around
safety
improvements,
connectivity
improvements
and
congestion
reduction.
To
date,
there
have
been
55
projects
that
have
been
completed.
There
are
a
lot
more
that
are
currently
underway,
and
we've
invested
about
22
million
dollars
in
levy
improvements
in
neighborhoods
in
bellevue.
B
Traffic
safety
has
always
been
a
priority
for
bellevue
and
the
newport
way.
Sidewalk
project
is
a
great
example
of
how
we've
made
our
neighborhood
safer
southeast
newport
way
from
somerset
boulevard
to
150th
ave
southeast
used
to
be
a
hazardous
place
for
people
who
walk
and
bicycle
thanks
in
part
to
funding
from
the
levy.
We
were
able
to
dramatically
improve
the
safety
of
this
busy
roadway.
The
roadway
carries
more
than
12
000
vehicles
per
day
and
includes
a
community
center,
a
library,
a
school
and
a
church.
Yet
there
were
no
sidewalks
or
bike
lanes.
C
B
D
B
Another
key
element
of
the
levy,
in
addition
to
providing
safety
and
connectivity
improvements,
is
providing
congestion
relief
within
our
neighborhoods.
A
great
example
of
a
congestion
reduction
project
that
we've
built
in
bellevue
is
the
164th
avenue
and
newport
way
mini
roundabout.
That
helps
to
really
make
traffic
flow
a
little
easier
when
it's
most
pronounced
and
heaviest
instead
of
a
stop
sign,
we'll
have
free-flowing,
though
slower
traffic
that
allows
the
traffic
to
continuously
move,
but
at
a
safer
and
more
methodical
and
predictable
way.
B
In
fact,
a
great
example
of
the
levee
project
is
right
here
along
the
east
bellevue
demonstration
greenway.
This
is
a
project
funded
by
the
levy
and
it's
a
two
mile
corridor
in
the
northeast
lake
hills
and
west
lake
samamish
neighborhoods
that
helps
to
provide
a
safer,
more
comfortable
environment
for
people
walking
and
biking
in
the
neighborhood.
E
F
Of
bellevue,
it's
been
a
great
five
years
for
the
project,
so
I
really
am
grateful
to
the
voters
in
bellevue
for
making
it
happen.
Really.
A
lot
of
good
community
input
regarding
what
people
want
to
see
for
their
community,
resulting
in
really
good
connectivity
that
wasn't
there
before
and
that
we
can
continue
to
build
upon
safety
and
also
addresses
neighborhood
congestion,
which
is
a
very
important
issue
here.
In
bellevue.
A
G
But
weather
is
an
annual
art
festival.
We
kind
of
have
a
two
in
one
year
because
we
had
to
cancel
because
of
the
pandemic
last
year,
so
we
were
able
to
partner
with
the
bellevue
botanical
garden,
to
put
a
bunch
of
art
here,
bellweather
at
the
botanical
garden.
This
year
is
curated
by
priscilla
dobbler,
and
she
chose
six
different
artists
that
did
murals
and
sculptural
artworks
through
the
end
of
september
garden
days
is
a
mural
painted
by
artist
leslie
wamsley
out
of
brooklyn
new
york.
G
Lance
l
smith
did
a
mirror
honoring
their
mother,
grandmother
and
aunt
as
different
flowers
and
were
inspired
by
a
song
by
stevie.
Wonder
come
back
as
a
flower,
so
I
actually
was
able
to
spend
some
time
with
the
artists
and
the
way
that
they
process
their
grief
through
this
mural
was
incredibly
fascinating.
G
G
G
G
G
And
here
in
the
lost
meadow
I'd
like
to
show
you
the
last
piece
that
we
have
titled
the
four
sacred
directions:
windile
by
artist,
paige
pedebon,
she
uses
her
cosalish
mess
to
swear
off
bad
medicine.
The
wind
dial
is
intended
to
have
the
viewer
meditate,
with
a
good
medicine
provided
coming
from
each
of
the
four
sacred
directions.
The
cube
is
ego,
nothing
everything
remembering
where
you're
all
connected.
A
The
conclusion
of
the
annual
bellwether
arts
exhibit
means
that
fall
is
officially
here,
though
the
festival
ends
once
october
starts.
There
are
still
several
permanent
art
pieces
to
enjoy
at
the
bellevue
botanical
garden
and
there's
a
wealth
of
natural
beauty
to
see
here
at
the
garden
during
the
fall
season
as
well.
We're
excited
to
share
some
of
that
beauty
with
you,
but
first,
