B
Once
that
was
adopted
in
December
of
2010,
we
began
design
and
permitting
and
then
finally,
in
2017,
we
broke
ground
on
the
construction,
which
is
now
21
months
later,
we're
about
ready
to
open
the
park.
The
beach
park
was
just
about
two
and
a
half
acres,
and
it's
now
about
a
ten
acre
park
along
the
shoreline.
So
it's
expanded
greatly
and
will
provide
a
lot
of
different
recreational
opportunities.
B
I'd
like
to
start
the
tour
of
Maiden
Barb
a
park
right
here
on
the
pier
it's
a
400
foot,
long,
pedestrian
water
walk
and
you
get
a
real
experience
of
being
actually
out
on
the
water.
But
you
also
have
the
ability
to
look
back
at
the
park
and
also
understand
how
this
park
relates
to
downtown
Bellevue,
because
it
is
at
the
foreground
of
all
the
tall
buildings
in
downtown.
In
addition
to
that,
it
also
provides
access
to
boat
landing.
B
So
we're
now
we're
at
the
end
of
the
pier
and
it
expands
out
into
a
circular
pattern
and
of
course,
there's
a
lot
of
seating
here
and
we've
we've
developed
a
number
of
different
places
where
the
public
we
think
is
going
to
really
like
to
sit
and
enjoy
and
spend
some
time
out
here,
including
a
mini
sundial,
which
is
all
part
of
the
public
art
program.
We've
got
three
artists
that
we've
commissioned
to
do
artwork
at
mate
bar
Bay
Park.
B
Let's
take
a
look
we're
now
here
at
the
beach
house,
and
the
beach
house
contains
both
men's
and
women's
restrooms,
as
well
as
men's
and
women's
changing
areas
and
a
lifeguard
station,
and
now
we're
standing
on
top
of
the
beach
house,
which
is
one
of
the
great
features
of
this
construction
and
actually
has
one
of
the
beautiful
views
from
the
site.
Let's
take
a
look
at
that
really.
B
The
biggest
challenge
with
this
whole
project
was
trying
to
create
publicly
useable
areas,
flat
areas
for
picnicking
and
relaxing
out
of
what
was
essentially
a
heavily
sloped
area
that
went
from
Lake
Washington
Boulevard
on
the
top
70
feet
down
to
the
lake
level
below.
So
what
we
were
able
to
do
is
we
achieve
that
through
the
use
of
rockeries
and
retaining
walls
on
one
of
the
terraces
we've
included
some
children's
playground
equipment.
B
We've
incorporated
a
number
of
elements
that
that
have
natural
features
such
as
stones
and
logs,
but
it's
really
going
to
be
a
lot
of
fun
and,
frankly,
I,
don't
think,
there's
another
playground.
That
has
quite
the
view
that
this
one
does
another
feature
of
the
park
are
a
couple
of
overlooks
that
I'm
standing
on
right
now
we
really
think
there's
going
to
be
a
lot
of
folks
are
going
to
want
to
come
out
here
and
enjoy
the
views
again
of
the
park
and
of
the
bay
behind
me
and
from
here.
B
B
And
the
last
thing
I'd
like
to
show
you
is
the
view
from
the
top
of
the
project.
This
is
the
highest
viewpoint
and
you
can
really
get
a
sense
of
the
scale
and
magnitude
of
not
just
the
project
put
the
views
across
the
bay
and
into
Lake
Washington
and
of
the
park
itself.
We
really
think
you're
going
to
enjoy
the
park.
C
C
So
the
installation
of
this
platform
in
the
southbound
direction
on
108
Avenue,
Northeast,
south
of
North
East.
Second
Street,
was
made
possible
through
funding
from
King
County
Metro.
They
were
interested
in
ensuring
the
efficient,
speedy
operation
of
the
buses
through
our
downtown.
One
of
the
unique
aspects
about
this
project
is
that
we
were
able
to
implement
this
rapidly.
So
this
project
includes
three
hundred
plus
modular
pieces
that
were
able
to
be
installed
over
three
nights,
resulting
in
minimal
conflicts
with
downtown
traffic
operations.
C
The
city
of
Bellevue
is
committed
to
offering
the
public
safe
travel
options
to
get
around
the
community,
and
this
project
fits
within
that
overall
objective.
This
is
a
first
project
of
its
kind
in
the
Pacific
Northwest,
and
the
early
feedback
from
the
community
is
favorable.
People
really
like
the
ability
to
travel
without
conflicts
along
the
bike
lane
and
then
across
this
plot
bus
platform.
C
The
City
of
Bellevue
is
evaluating
this
project
to
determine
what
influence
it
has
on
on
how
people
travel
along
the
quarter,
whether
there
are
people
riding
the
buses,
cyclists
or
people
who
are
driving
vehicles,
so
we're
in
an
evaluation
mode
right
now,
and
we're
really
interested
in
community
feedback.
We'd
love
to
hear
from
you.
So
if
you
have
feedback,
please
email
us,
we
really
value
your
input.
