and
Verizon

and
it's
also
being
streamed
at
the
city
of
Boston
website.
Please
silence
your
cell
phones
and
other
devices
we'll
be
taking
public
testimony
and,
if
you'd
like
to
have
speak
publicly
sign-in
sheets
over
the
side,
I'll
read
off
the
docket
numbers
and
then
we'll,
please
state
your
name
and
affiliation
as
we
address
it.
A
We
will
be
taking
zero
to
three
three
out
of
order.
Just
so
you
know.
So.
Today's
hearing
is
on
docket
number
zero
one:
three:
five,
that's
a
message
in
order
authorizing
the
city
of
Boston
to
accept
and
expend
the
amount
of
1
million
six
hundred
thousand
dollars
in
a
form
of
a
grant
for
a
safe,
safe
and
successful
youth
initiatives.
A
Docket
number:
zero
one:
four
one
message:
in
order
authorizing
the
city
of
Boston
to
accept
and
expend
one
one
hundred
fifteen
thousand
in
the
form
of
a
grant
for
f
FY,
17
violence
against
women
act
and
stop
and
grant
docket
number
zero.
Two
three
three,
which
will
take
first
message
in
order
authorizing
the
city
of
Boston,
to
accept
an
amount
of
thirty
thousand
dollars
in
the
form
of
a
grant
for
the
organized
crime
and
Drug
Enforcement
Task
Force
program.
B
B
Sure
so
this
is
a
thirty
thousand
dollar
grant
offered
by
the
US
Marshals
ocf
program,
and
this
grant
would
be
used
for
surveillance
vehicle
for
the
fugitive
unit.
The
surveillance
vehicles
for
the
fugitive
unit,
a
crucial
in
daily
activity
in
order
to
conduct
surveillance
and
arrest
operations
for
wanted
individuals
sounds.
A
C
Morning
counselor,
my
name
is
Frank
DeLuca
and
I'm,
with
the
Boston
Police
Department's
Office
of
research
and
development
and
the
safe
and
successful
youth
initiative.
It's
ssy.
I
is
a
1.6
million
dollar
grant,
covering
two
fiscal
years:
FY
18
and
19,
and
the
the
grant
supports
intervention
services
for
Boston's,
violent
youth,
those
involved
in
violent
crime
as
perpetrators
or
victims.
A
Thanks
very
much
Frank
what
what
organizations
can
you
just
give
a
couple
sure.
C
A
D
I'm
Jenna
savage
I'm,
deputy
director
of
the
office
of
research
and
development
at
the
Boston
Police
Department.
This
fund,
these
funds
that
we
get
every
year
through
a
ops
indirectly
from
the
office
of
violence
against
women.
These
funds
support
our
domestic
civilian
domestic
violence
advocates
this
year.
There
was
an
increase
in
the
funding,
so
we'll
be
able
to
support
one
full-time
advocate
who
covers
East,
Boston
and
Jamaica
Plain,
as
well
as
20%
of
another
advocate
who
covers
Dorchester,
and
these
advocates
provide
critical
services
like
crisis
intervention,
referrals
and
safety
plans
for
victims
of
domestic
violence.
D
A
E
Hello,
my
name
is
Daman
bills.
I'm
the
project
coordinator
for
the
Senator
Charles
E,
Shannon,
Community,
Safety,
Initiative
I,
think
you
had
are
on
there,
it's
Shannon
I'm,
so
yeah.
This
is
an
initiative
that
funds
the
support
of
city
of
Boston's,
comprehensive
strategy
aimed
at
reducing
gun,
gang
and
youth
violence
in
the
city,
and
we
worked
hand-in-hand
with
SS.
Why
I
that's
why
it
has
the
highest
risk?
Young
people?
We
served
the
second
tier
of
that
through
community-based
organizations.
E
That's
a
that's
the
primary
effort
for
the
Shannon
grant
and
we
also
fund
three
city
based
organizations.
So
this
is
our
12th
year
of
operation
of
the
Shannon
grant
when
started.
It
was
about
at
three
million
and
that's
when
essa,
Shannon
and
re-entry
were
combined
somewhere
around
2010.
They
separated
the
initiatives
and
Shannon
got
its
own
initiative.
Re-Entry
got
its
own
initiative,
so
the
funds
were
kind
of
were
reduced
then,
but
every
year
since,
probably
for
the
last
four
years,
the
funds
for
Shannon
from
the
state
have
been
reducing,
reducing,
reducing,
be
it.
E
Crime
reduction
crime
has
gone
down,
so
maybe
it's
less
funding,
but
the
organizations
are
still
providing
that
service.
So
we
fund
this
year,
17
organizations,
some
of
which
are
Boston
centers
for
youth
and
families
Edic
with
their
y-o-u
project.
Youth
connect,
Boston,
Center,
Boston,
Medical
Center
via
program,
which
has
which
serves
young
people
who
have
been
have
penetrating
wounds
at
the
at
the
hospital.
My
life,
my
choice,
Lewis
D,
Brown,
Peace,
Institute,
maverick
landing,
Community,
Services
and
eight
others
that
are
in
the
Shannon
initiative.
A
We'll
continue
to
push
our
friends
up
at
the
Statehouse
for
additional
funding,
because
what
ends
up
happening
is
you,
you
know
more
than
I
when
you
begin
to
have
success,
and
then
you
stop
paying
for
that
success.
You're
gonna
stop
paying
on
the
back
end
with
with
bad
numbers.
You
know
so
we'll
continue
to
fight
for
it.
I'm
very
familiar
with
the
Shannon
grant.
I
know
that
way
back
in
the
day
they
used
to
be
an
integral
part
of
the
Boston
youth
fund
and
the
summer
jobs
hiring.
A
A
A
So
the
next
two
grants
are
Boston:
Fire
Department
run
two
grants
zero
six.
One
three
is
an
author
authorization
of
the
City
of
Boston,
accept
and
expend
the
amount
of
1
million,
seven
hundred
and
fifty
thousand
dollars
in
the
form
of
a
grant
for
state
training,
and
then
the
second
one
is
zero.
Six
one
five
message
in
order
authorizing
the
City
of
Austin
to
accept
and
expend
two
hundred
and
thirty,
seven
thousand
five
and
a
dolls
in
the
form
of
a
grant
for
the
state
has
mad
grant.
A
F
I'm
Kathleen
judge
Deputy
Commissioner
for
administration
and
finance
at
the
Boston
Fire
Department.
The
first
grant
for
the
a
million
750
is
for
our
training
that
covers
training
for
back-to-basics,
which
is
on
every
weekend,
o
2x,
which
is
our
health
and
wellness
fitness
program
and
a
number
of
other
drills
like
high-rise,
drills
or
tech
rescue
drills,
and
it
also
covers
the
expense
related
to
the
academy,
so
we're
placing
their
props
lumber
bales
of
hay,
ropes
and
anything
else.
They
need
down
on
the
island
to
train
for
the
new
recruits.
F
A
Okay,
thank
you
very
much.
We
meet
tomorrow
at
noon
and
I'll,
be
putting
a
report
together
to
ask
for
passage
of
these
grants
for
the
Boston
Police
Department,
as
well
as
Boston
Fire,
so
we'll
wrap
this
hearing
up
now
for
dockets
number
zero
one.
Three,
five:
zero
one:
four,
one:
zero:
two,
three:
three:
zero:
two,
eight
four:
zero,
six,
one,
three
zero
six,
one!
Five
is
there's
nobody
here
for
testimony
again.
