as
our
lovely

brings
us
through
the

I
asked
everyone

remain
standing
for
the

Thank

C
We
had
a
terrific
hearing,
last
Thursday
October
31st
on
docket
one
four,

five
second
assistant
collector
treasurer
Richard
de

Trust
manager,
Margaret

and
superintendent
of
cemeteries.
Tom
Sullivan
testified
in
support
of
the
docket
on
behalf
of
Mayor
Walsh
docket,
one
four,
five
five
asks
for
authorization
of
an
appropriation
from
the
cemetery
trust
fund
to
fund
improvements
to
Mount
Hope
Cemetery,
specifically
to
expand
burial
capacity
in
the
sections
of
the
cemetery
for
veterans
and
indigent
residents,
and
to
replace
the
HVAC
system
and
American
the
cemeteries
administration
building.
C
The
cemetery
trust
fund
was
established
by
state
law
under
Chapter.
Thirteen
of
the
acts
of
1961.
It
generates
revenue
through
the
collection
of
burial
fees
of
the
city's
three
active
cemeteries
and
the
funds
are
meant
to
be
used
by
the
cemetery
division
and
the
Parks
and
Recreation
Department
to
expand
and
improve
the
city's
cemeteries.
The
new
draft
of
docket
one
four
five
five
reflects
an
updated
appropriation
in
the
amount
of
two
hundred
and
thirty
two
thousand
dollars
based
on
contracting
bids
that
have
been
received
thus
far.
C
One
hundred
and
forty
thousand
dollars
of
that
will
go
for
the
expansion
and
infrastructure
improvements
to
the
veterans
and
city,
poor
sections
or
the
indigent
sections
of
Mount
Hope
Cemetery,
and
ninety
two
thousand
dollars
will
be
for
the
replacement
of
Mount
copes
HVAC
system.
The
appropriation
will
help
ease
the
end-of-life
financial
burden
on
the
loved
ones
of
veterans
and
allows
the
city
to
continue
to
provide
burial
services
for
residents,
regardless
of
means.
C
It
can
be
extraordinarily
expensive
and
certainly
to
take
advantage
of
our
veterans
and
spouses
of
veterans
is
a
remarkable
thing.
You're
not
gonna,
read
about
in
the
newspaper,
not
gonna,
see
it
on
television,
but
it's
just
a
great
service
that
this
city
provides
and
I'm
proud
that
this
body
can
help
increase
that
pool
of
money
to
continue
the
good
work,
so
ask
that
we
pass
this
in
a
new
draft.
Thank
you.
Thank.

D
D
It's
very
straightforward:
these
are
three
individuals
who
have
been
nominated
to
the
Boston
Art
Commission.
They
like
the
art
commission,
would
like
to
meet
soon,
so
they'd
certainly
would
love
to
have
their
new
members.
Equal
homes,
I
know
personally
she's
an
amazing
artist.
She
lives
in
district
7.
I,
see
no
reason
why
not
to
move
forward
with
their
appointments
to
the
Art
Commission
I
think
there
would
be
great
additions.
Thank.
A
You
councillor

at
this

councillor
Janey,
whose
chair
of
the
Committee
on
arts,
culture
and
special
events
is
seeking
suspension
the
rules
and
passage
of
each
of
these
dockets.
We
will
take
them
separately
so
for
docket,
one
two,
seven,
six,
all
those
in
favor
of
passage,
say
aye

need
opposed,
say,
nay,
the

it
docket

Thank
you
and
Thank
You
councillor
Janey
anyone
else
wishing
to
remove
any
matter
from
the
green
sheets.
Okay
and
now.
Moving
on
to
the
consent
agenda.
A
E
Think
you
just
threw
the
chair
working
with
the
lead
sponsor.
There
was
obviously
a
much
anticipated
opportunity,
potentially
to
vote
on
a
matter
today.
That's
been
moved
most
likely
to
be
20th
of
this
month.
So
there's
some
eleventh-hour
negotiations
underway
and,
as
you
know,
my
part
of
my
role
as
chair
is
to
make
sure
that
we're
ensuring
so
the
transparent,
predictable
legislative
process
to
which
all
of
us,
as
well
as
members
of
the
public
and
stakeholders
are
involved
with
and
prepare
for.
E
Also,
another
role
as
chair
is
to
make
sure
that
we're
recommending
legislation
for
passage
that
is
able
to
withstand
legal
challenge.
It's
also
in
compliance
with
the
city
charter
and,
as
we
all
know,
the
cannabis
industry
is
a
new
and
emerging
industry
across
the
Commonwealth.
So
I
share
my
colleagues
sense
of
urgency
to
get
that
legislation
passed
and
through
the
Chia
recognize
the
efforts
of
the
lead
sponsor
in
her
efforts
on
our
behalf
as
a
body
in
those
negotiations.
E
E
A
A
D
You
so
much,
madam
president,
and
I
just
want
to
echo
the
sense
of
urgency.
Since
our
last
meeting
we've
had
a
number
of
productive
meetings,
I'm
very
hopeful
and
encouraged
by
those
meetings
we
are
I
would
even
add
99.999999%
there.
We
will
use
the
next
several
days
to
work
out
those
details,
so
I'm
really
encouraged
and
excited
that
this
process
is
moving
forward
and
that
we
will
have
something
before
this
body
very
soon.
That
I
think
we
can
all
be
very
proud
of.
Thank
you.
Can.
D
F
Wanted
to
say
that
next
week
on
the
12th
we're
having
our
first
gala
the
Maverick
Street
mothers
scholarship
fund.
As
many
of
you
noted
known,
we
had
sent
out
that
announcement
a
while
ago.
This
is
in
part
honoring
the
incredible
women
who
organized
in
East
Boston
many
years
ago
to
make
sure
we
have
an
incredible
neighborhood.
Today,
again,
we
lost
a
giant
with
Mary
Ellen
Welch
this
year
meant
her
go,
was
a
huge
loss
for
many
of
us
in
East
Boston.
F
We
probably
get
the
most
mitigation
and
the
most
I
think
we
have
the
most
incredible
relationship
with
Massport
in
terms
of
being
able
to
negotiate
get
what
we
need,
what
we
want,
but
also
deliver
an
uppercut
if
we
have
to
and
still
and
that's
because
of
these
incredible
women.
So
I
wanted
to
acknowledge
that
the
gala
is
next
week
we
have
four
mothers
who
are
going
to
school.
F
We
have
managed
to
fund
them
in
different
capacities:
beauty
school,
the
English
school,
going
to
Community
College,
it's
one
of
the
few
of
only
parent
scholarships
that
we
have
nominated
by
many
of
their
kids
nominated
by
folks
in
the
neighborhood.
We're
so
excited
to
be
able
to
give
them
this
financial
award
next
week.
So
I
invite
you
all
to
Spinelli's
from
six
to
nine
on
the
12th.
G
You,
madam
president,
Madam
President
I
just
wanted
to
inform
the
the
body
that
Veterans
Day
will
soon
be
here
and
I
know.
All
of
the
council's
do
attend
many
events
in
their
district
I'll
be
attending
several
events
with
with
the
mayor
as
well,
but
it's
it's
an
opportunity
for
ourselves
as
a
body
to
continue.
I
will
work
speaking
for
in
advocating
for
our
veterans
and
military
families.
I'm
also
proud
of
the
outstanding
work
of
our
city
of
Boston
Veterans
Affairs
Department
under
commissioner
Santiago
who's.
Doing
an
excellent
job.
G
We've
had
hearings
on
that
over
the
last
two
years,
myself
and
down
counselor
Edwards
and
in
the
body
as
well,
but
we'll
continue
working
on
those
issues
in
issues
that
have
had
veterans
in
military
families
over
the
next
two
years.
So
I
wanted
to
say
thank
you
to
all
my
colleagues
for
their
great
work
on
this
important
issue.
Thank
you,
madam
president.
A
No,
thank
you
counter
Flynn
and
thank
you,
of
course,
for
your
service
and
for
acknowledging
the
holiday
and
flagging
it
for
folks
who
are
watching
it's
also,
my
husband's
birthday
he's
quite
special
to
me.
So
happy
birthday,
babe
and
it's
a
big
one
for
him.
So
it's
where
I
get
to
say
that
publicly.
So
thank
you
I
think!
That's
it.
A
Anyone
else
have
any
more
announcements:
no
okay
at
this
time,
I'd,
like
all
colleagues,
staff
and
guests
to
please
rise
as
we
adjourn
today's
meeting
in
memory
of
the
following
individuals
for
a
counselor
Janey
Chris
Shepherd
for
counselor
Edwards,
Syrian,
Dylan,
John
Burton
for
counselor
Flaherty,
Moises
Vargas
for
counselor
Flynn,
Mary
Lafferty,
and
for
counselors
llamo
Eddie

a

silence.
Please.
A
Thank
you.
The
chair
moves
that
when
the
council
adjourns
today
it
does
so
in
memory
of
the
aforementioned
individuals,
we
are
scheduled
to
meet
again
in
this
chamber
at
Boston
City
Hall,
on
the
fifth
floor
on
November
20th
at
12:00
noon,
all
those
in
favor
of
adjournment,
say
aye,
any
opposed,
say,
nay,
the

The
council
is
adjourned.
