First,
some
housekeeping
items,
please

at
all
time
by
everyone,
except
those
who
are
speaking
at
that
moment
and
please
either
turn
off
or
silence
your
cell
phone
or

device,
governor
baker,
senator
markey,
senator
warren
mayor
janey
to
all
of
our
colleagues
at
city,
government,
county
government
and
state
government
to
the
wu
and
powarski
families
to
the
countless
friends
on
behalf
of
mayor-elect
wu
to
every
bostonian,
welcome
to
city
hall.
For
this
incredibly
important
and
moving
day.
A
This
is
a
great
day
in
our
city's
nearly
400
year,
history
and
much
has
been
written
about
the
long
trek
to
freedom,
the
long
walk
to
freedom
in
a
city
that
is
391
years
old.
That
is
certainly
true
today,
but
nevertheless,
even
more
special,
as
we
gather
together
for
the
swearing-in
of
the
first
woman-elected
mayor
and
the
first
person
of
color-elected
mayor
in
boston's,
391-year
history.

C
C
Thank
you
for
our
life's
journey
that
have
led
her
to
this
point.
You
knew
her
before
she
was
born.
You
knew
before
she
came
boston
to
be
a
student
here
that
she
would
be
at
this
point
hallelujah
at
this
junction
that
she
would
be
standing
on
the
treshold
of
becoming
the
first
elected
female
mayor
of
boston
and
on
this
the
week
before
thanksgiving.
C
C
C
We
pray
not
for
the
campaign,
but
we
pray
for
the
wu's
administration.
We
pray
not
for
the
candidate,
but
we
pray
for
the
mayor
of
boston
and,
like
paul,
declared
ephesians
1.
I
ask
you
today
that
you
will
give
mayor,
michel
wu,
the
spirit
of
wisdom,
knowledge
and
understanding
the
spirit
of
revelation
to
rest
upon
her,
hey.
Let
the
men
of
essec
are
give
her
understanding
to
know
what
to
do
and
when
to
do
it
all
like
naomi
and
ruth
lord
god.
Give
us
strategic
directions
like
deborah.
C
Give
our
boldness
in
the
spirit
and
like
rules,
give
her
a
love
for
the
people,
a
love
for
the
city
and
the
love
for
you
reveal
unto
her.
The
strategies
that
are
needed
for
this
unprecedented
moment,
let
your
angels
indeed
go
ahead
of
her
now
and
prosper.
Her
journey
cover
are
we
pray
thee
today,
with
the
blood
of
jesus,
put
an
edge
of
protection
around
her
and,
like
you,
declare
in
your
word,
no
weapon
form
against
her
shall
prosper.
C
C
A
Thank
you,
reverend
dr
hall,
for
those
beautiful
and
inspiring
words
before
we
get
along.
I
also
wanted
to
acknowledge
and
welcome
an
incredible
individual
who
spent
a
lot
of
time
in
this
building.
She
sat
next
to
me
for
eight
years
now
she
is
standing
up
for
all
of
us
in
washington,
d.c
congresswoman,
ayanna
presley,
welcome,
congressman.
A
It's
now
my
honor
to
introduce
our
next
speaker,
an
individual
who
has
led
with
class
with
distinction
with
honor
over
the
last
eight
months
during
an
incredibly
difficult
time
of
transition
of
turmoil
of
pandemic.
Mayor
kim
janey
has
been
a
steady
hand
at
the
till
here
in
boston,
she's
been
a
remarkable
leader.
She
is
a
dear
friend.
Please
join
me
in
welcoming
mayor
kim
janey.
D
Thank
you
so
much
councilor
o'malley.
I
also
want
to
thank
senator
warren
senator
markey.
I
want
to
thank
representative
presley
governor
baker,
our
state
legislators,
our
county
officials
and
certainly
the
boston
city
council.
I
want
to
thank
you
all
for
all
the
ways
that
you
work
to
make
boston
better.
D
D
We
were
now
able
to
see
what
is
possible,
that
boston
could
truly
be
a
city
for
everyone,
even
those
who
had
been
marginalized.
It
was
transformative.
Yes,
it
was
a
new
day
indeed,
but
this
new
day
had
been
dawning
for
a
while,
and
so
many
people
have
helped
to
usher.
It
in
a
new
day
was
dawning
when
mel
king,
who
we
just
celebrated
on
saturday,
made
history
almost
40
years
ago,
when
he
ran
for
mayor
showing
us
the
power
of
a
multi-racial
multi-generational
coalition
and
the
power
of
love.
D
I
could
share
with
you
countless
stories
of
our
work
together
and
why
I
supported
you
in
the
race
for
mayor.
I
could
tell
all
the
ways
that
we've
worked
together
to
make
the
city
better,
but
as
I
leave
office
now
as
mayor,
I
feel
good,
knowing
that
you
share
my
love
and
my
passion
for
boston,
I'm
confident
that
you
will
lead
our
city
with
integrity
and
that
you
will
center
equity
in
all
that
you
do.
A
Thank
you,
mayor
janie,
for
those
beautiful
words
we
are
now
approaching
the
moment
we
have
all
been
waiting
for,
and
I
will
just
begin
by
saying,
boston
has
been
called
a
city
without
pair.
We
are
tough,
we
are
resilient.
We
are
smart.
We
are
inspirational
much
like
our
new
mayor.

E
E
I
have
missed
you
over
the
last
two
weeks
and
I'm
so
grateful
for
the
chance
to
spend
time
over
these
14
days
with
so
many
committed
public
servants
in
our
city
getting
updated,
getting
up
to
speed
on
everything
happening
here.
Thank
you,
mayor
janie,
for
your
beautiful
remarks
and
for
your
trailblazing
leadership
and,
most
of
all
for
being
a
friend
and
someone
I
admire
so
much.

When
we
make
city
hall
more
accessible,
we
are
all
raised
up
when
we
communicate
in
many
languages.
We
all
understand
more
and
most
of
all
when
we
connect
the
power
of
city
government
to
the
force
of
our
neighborhoods
and
communities.
We
see
how
much
is
possible
for
our
city
city
government
is
special.

E
E
The
first
time
I
set
foot
in
city
hall,
I
felt
invisible,
but
today
I
see
what's
possible
in
this
building
and
I
see
all
the
public
servants
raising
us
up:
frontline
workers
first
responders
teachers,
bus
drivers,
building
inspectors,
city
workers.
I
am
deeply
honored
to
work
alongside
you
and
I
ask
everyone
to
join
me
in
expressing
our
gratitude
for
your
service.
