type
of

We
have,
we
are
joined
by
colleagues
from
the
police
department,
the
Transportation
Department
and
we
and
the
the
Hackney
division-
and
we
will
hear
from
the
petitioners
first
go
through
a
series
of
questions
and
then
open
it
up
to
feedback
from
the
city
officials
and
some
background
on
what
conversations
have
and
should
continue
to
happen.

Who's
been
taking
all
kinds
of
phone
calls
from
me
all
the
time.
So
I
greatly
appreciate
that
and
thank
you
to
the
public
servants
here
from
Boston's
greatly
appreciated.
I'll
start
a
brief
overview
of
who
flicks
buses,
who
we
are
as
a
company.
Johanna
will
speak
briefly
about
our
business
model,
which
is
unique
from
other
transportation
companies
and
then
we'll
go
into
the
questions,
as
you
mentioned,
counselor,
so
to
begin
flicks
bus.

We
started
back
in
February
of
2013
where
a
European
company
headquartered
in
Germany
since
2013,
we
have
exploded
in
growth,
350,000,
daily
connections
to
2,000
destinations
in
29
countries.
We
started
our
expansion
into
the
United
States
approximately
a
year
or
so
ago,
and
now
we
are
looking
to
actively
and
aggressively
expand
our
operations
on
the
East
Coast.
We
already
serve
routes
servicing
from
New
York
to
DC.
We
also
recently
started
a
private,
a
lot
operating
out
of
a
private
lot
on
90
travelers
Street
in
Boston.
It
has
been
a
incredible
response
from
our
customers.

as
I,
talked
about
the
service.
We
provide
us
a
with
our
bus
operations
is
excellent.
Our
customers
are
experiencing
that
firsthand
and
the
response
has
been
incredible
to
go
over.
What
we're
trying
to
do
here
today
is
to
seek
permission
and
go
through
the
proper
channels
to
obtain
permission
from
the
city
of
Boston
to
allow
curbside
pickup,
specifically
as
it
relates
to
this
particular
petition.
This
is
a
portion
of
Dalton
Street,
specifically
adjacent
to
the
Sheraton
Hotel.

Furthermore,
this
is
a
stock,
that's
already
being
used
by
at
least
of
other
bus
companies
for
intercity
routes.
So
with
that
in
mind,
we
thought
it
would
be
the
least
sort
of
controversial
option
to
start
with,
but
please
know
that
this
we
understand
that
there's
conversations
still
to
be
had
and
we
are
certainly
open
to
other
curbside
locations
within
Boston
to
go
back,
though
briefly
to
who
we
are
as
a
company
I
do
want
to
point
out
that
we
have
a
commitment
to
getting
cars
off
of
the
street.

We
want
more
people
using
means
of
mass
transportation
and
that
would
include
intercity
buses.
We
submit
Amanda
for
that
growing.
We
also
have
a
commitment
to
green
transportation.
We
are
the
only
transportation
company
that
allows
when
customers
buy
tickets
to
offset
their
carbon
footprint
by
adding
a
few
additional
sense
to
their
ticket
price.
That
goes
to
the
National
Forest
Foundation,
for
the
purposes
of
planting
trees
to
offset
their
carbon
footprint,
it's
a
popular
option
among
our
customers.

We
are
also
actively
engaging
with
tech
companies,
particularly
in
Europe,
and
converting
our
bus
fleets
to
100%
renewable,
clean
energy.
If
it's
a
long
process,
there's
a
lot
of
involved
there,
we
already
rolled
out
our
pilot
program
for
electronic
buses
in
France.
We
are
continuing
to
make
those
investments,
and
hopefully
in
the
near
future,
with
the
cooperation
of
local
governments
and
gnash
the
national
government.
Hopefully
soon
at
some
point,
we
will
be
able
to
work
with
our
bus
partners
and
making
that
a
reality.
So
before
I
go
any
further.

But
ultimately
we
aren't
experts
at
sort
of
owning
and
operating
buses,
and
we
acknowledge
that
and
we
think
that
the
best
way
that
we
can
provide
service
and
great
service
to
our
customers
is
by
finding
folks
who
are
already
in
these
communities
and
employ
drivers
and
know
how
to
operate
buses
and
allowing
them
to
operate
the
buses.
And
so
that's
fundamentally
the
way
our
business
model
works
and
we
have
very
strict
standards
and
the
buses
need
to
be
sort
of
standardized
they're
all
wraps.

all
have
plugs
and
installed
Wi-Fi
and
so
from
a
customer's
perspective.
The
customer
shouldn't
know
that
there
are
different
operators,
although
you
can
see
in
the
little
writing
on
the
bus
who
the
the
d-o-t
number
is
registered
to,
but
it
sort
of
allows
us
to
provide
a
consistent,
good
customer
experience
while
leveraging
the
expertise
of
of
operators
across
the
across
the
country
and
then
across
Europe
as
well.

if
I'm

just

think
a
question
a
certainly
a
question:
that's
come
up
in
meeting
with
staff
and
other
departments
is.
Why
aren't
you
folks
using
South
Station,
and
the
answer
to
that
is-
we
do
want
to
be
at
South
Station
very
much.
However,
it
is
at
maximum
capacity
until
2023,
and
so
until
then,
we
want
to
obviously
start
service
as
soon
as
possible.
But,
moreover,
part
of
our
strategy
when
it
comes
to
serving
our
customers
is
what
we
call
a
multi
stop
strategy.

when
we
enter
a
larger
market,
Boston
is
certainly
one
of
them.
We
want
to
create
stops
that
are
beyond
just
one
particular
location.
I'll.
Give
you
an
example
of
what
we're
doing
in
New
York.
We
have
a
stop
in
midtown
Manhattan
and
we're
also
working
with
community
boards
and
the
outer
boroughs
of
New
York
City
to
have
stops
there
as
well
to
connect
as
many
people
as
possible
to
an
affordable
means
of
energy
intercity
transportation.

part

getting

parent
company
is

flix
mobility

United
States
and
across
the

have
skilled
employees

areas

as
operations,
safety,
network
planning,
traffic
control
and
government
regulations.

bus
drivers
are
required
to
have
a
minimum
of
two
years
experience
and
be
at
least
23
years
of
age.
All
drivers
that
operate
flix
bus
lines
are
required
to
complete,
what's
called
flicks,
you
need
flicks
university
courses
and
exams
all
flicks
bus
drivers
must
operate
in
accordance
with
do
t,
&,
FM,
csa
regulations,
flicks
bus
further
requires
bus
partners
to
provide
Americans
with
Disabilities
Act
compliance,
training
to
their
drivers
and
I
would
add,
with
respect
to
our
employees,
our
flix
bus
employees.

take
great
care
when
we
enter
a
market
to
ensure
that
when
we
evaluate
a
stop
that
it
not
only
is
convenient
for
our
customers
but
also
safe
and
that's
from
our
own
sort
of
internal
evaluation
but
working
hand
in
hand
with

local
municipalities.
So
we
understand
fully
the
that
we,
but
the
best
people
to
understand
that
the
safety
needs
of
a
particular
city
would
be
the
folks
that
protect
the
city
on
a
daily
basis,
and
that's
where
we
want
to
build
that
relationship.

mentioned
that
this
is
that
flicks
bus,
really
shouldn't
have
been
applying
for
a
jitney
license
that
it's
more.

several
instances
where
we've
had
interstate
bus
operations
trying
to
establish
on
the
city
street
that
basically,
we
had
terminated
because
of
basically
we
have
no
place
to
put
you
mentioned.
Dalton
Street
done
it.
That
is
a
source
of
constant
problems.
For
us
and
I
know
the
bus
operations.
They
do
not
have
dipping
laces.
They
do
not
have
a
DP.
You
a
certification,
that's
problem.

Obviously,
is
a
source,
numerous
complaints
right
now
we
have
several.
We
have
a
couple
right
now
of
bus
operation,
interstate
operating
out
of
Chinatown
area
out
of
Oak
and
Harrison
that
we're
trying
to
get
under
wrap
right
now
we're
these
very
much
up
in
arms
about
what's
going
on.
So
it's
been
a
source
of
concern
in
community
debate
and
concern
that
we've
been
trying
to
get
under
wraps.
As
of.

did
receive
a
request
from
flex
plus
to
operate
within
the
city
at
that
time.

that
on

has
been
in
contact
with
Francisca
lebryk
and
several
times
outlining
what
the
difference
is
between
a
jitney
license
and
a
sightseeing
op.

license

he
as
well
felt
that
that
time
that
this
bus
should
be
operating
out
of
Seoul
station,
as
Eddie
had
hinted
to
here
as
well.
We've
had
an
explosion
of
we've
seen
charter
buses
running
dropping
off
at
various
places
throughout
the
city
via
Dartmouth
coach,
which
runs
from
New
Hampshire,
we've
had
conquered
conquered
lines,
conquered
bus
company
there
have
been
dropping
off
at
rolled
places
as
well,
so
I've
contacted
those
companies
directly
as
well.

jitney

other
licenses.
That
is
one
topic.
My

concern
is
pedestrian
safety,
traffic
safety
and
stuff.

that,

location
they
want
to
use
lack
of
bottoms
calories
spoken
for
it's
15
minute
parking
for
our
for
the
you
know
the
the
trolley
tours
and
things
like
that.
I
will
acknowledge.
You
will
see
buses
there.
Usually
that's
buses
that
specifically
that
call
the
Sheraton
Hotel.

don't

District
four,
so
captain
Sweeney

the

I
have
had
conversations
with
captain
Sweeney
he's
aware
that,

they'll
do
is
like
the
Sheraton

set
up

tour
or
they'll
set
up
something
with

group
they'll
come
out

hotel.
They'll
have
a
bus
there
waiting
for
him.
Sorry
they
might
take
him
like
the
dinner
in
the
north
fan.
They
might
take
him
to
a
Red
Sox
game.
They
might
take
him
somewhere
else.

that's
not
a
huge!
You
know
issue
for
us,
but
to
say
that
having
this
bus
is
like
just
permanent
stage,
there
I
mean
I'm
looking
at
the
times
of
the
routes
and
stuff
the
congestion.
That
area
is
already
pretty
heavy.
You
have
the
brand-new
building
at
our
30
Dalton
Street.
That's
that's
still,
not
a
hundred
percent
up
and
running,
and
if
you
know
it's
actually
I
look
at
the
picture
they
put
in
there
and
I
think
have
been
saying
for
a
long
time.

got
you
get
a
picture
of
that
location
where
there's
no
busses
already
there,
because
it's
always
somebody
coming
and
going.
You
know,
and
it
just
creates.
It
presents
a
problem
for
us
and
there's
also
displacement
of
where
my
trolleys
gonna.

the
sightseeing
trolleys
gonna
go
if
these
buses
are
taking
up.
You
know
a
long
amount
of
time
and
the
buses
that
we
do
I
would
say
for
like
a
boat
time.

laying
them
so
that
they're,
the
people,
they're
visitors
or
they're
guests,
don't
have
to
like
walk
all
over
the
place.
To
pick
up
a
bus
is
just
coming

front

their
hotels.

pedestrian
traffic
is
only
going
to
increase
their
I'm

so
I
think
having
a
location,
you're
gonna
have
upwards
of
over
50
people
that
have
to
be
dropped
off
picked
up,

mean

do
realize
there
is
public
transportation,
that's
right,
but
it's
not
what
I
would
say.

most
convenient
public
transportation
is
opposed
to
like
a
soft
station
or
North
Station,
or
you
know
back
base
station,
which
has
an
actual
train
as
opposed
like
buses,
and
things
like
that.
When
you
have
all
these
people
that
are
going
to

coming
out,
you

luggage
crossing
the
street
and
doing
other
stuff.
You
also
have
the
issue
one.
There
is
a
bus
here,
the
people
coming
out
of
the
shared
in
garage.
It
completely
blocks
a
line
of
sight,
so
anybody
coming
on
the
show
the
garage
that
wants
to
take
a
left.

Basically,
just
if
you
stand
there
you'll
see,
they
just
have
to
keep
inching
forward
and
holding
all
the
cars
coming,
because
the
bus-
just
it's
just
a
blind
spot
until
you
know,
and
that
I
see
so
it's
also
problematic
I

the
trolley
tour.
While
our
glass,
you
can
contain
us,
you
know
I
kind
of
try
and
look
do
a
bit
a
solid
bus,
I
I
would
say
that
I'm
kind
of
uncomfortable
with
our
location
I
definitely
know.

thinks
it's.

Sheraton
Hotel.

the
Sheraton
management,

concerns
about
it.

think
there
needs

more
conversation

the
Sheraton
tells
me
well
that
will
completely
displace

our
visitors

come

expect
to
get
on

existing
bus

what's
being
discussed,

extremely
important.

they

mentioned
that
there's
sort
of
this
explosion
of
inner
city
buses
that
speaks
to
the
heart
of

saying

beginning
is
that
there
is
a
huge
demand,
a
growing
demand
for
inner
city
buses.
It
not
only
is
an
affordable
option
for
people
to
travel.
It's
also
a
far
more
environmentally
friendly
means
of
travel,
and
we
do
hear-
and
understandably
so,
concerns
about
congestion.

The
great
thing
about
inner
city
buses
is
that
they
take
vehicles
off
the
road
single
used
vehicles.
They
take
cars
off
the
road,
they
encourage
people
and
what
we
see,
at
least
with
our
metrics,
is
that
most
of
our
passengers-
and
this
is
holding
true
even
to
this
day,
not
just
when
we
first
launched-
is
that
our
passengers,
that
most
of
them
are
taking
an
intercity
bus
for
the
first
time
we're
growing
the
market
and
getting
more
people
on
to
buses,
which
means
they're
not
using
their
cars
to
get
from,
say,
Boston
to
New
York.

That's
taking
the
it's
a
huge
relief
from
congestion
and
we've
seen
that
in
other
cities,
where
we
are
extremely
well
established
in
particularly
in
Europe
Berlin,
comes
to
mind
where
we've
taken
innumerable
cars
off
the
road.

bus
operations,
I
will
say
that
and
I
just
want
to.
You
know,
make
sure
it's
on
the
record
that
there
are
at
least
two
bus
companies
that
are
actively
advertising
intercity
travel
at
this
Dalton
Street
location.

It's
not
just
to
serve
the
Sheraton
Hotel,
it's
very
clear
on
these
company
websites
that
they're
serving
the
general
public,
not
a
particular
hotel
and
serving
routes,
it's
primarily
Boston
to
New
York.
But
there
are
other
locations
as
well
and
they're
actively
selling
tickets
as
we
speak,
so
I
just
want
to
make
sure
that's
clear
on
the
record.
So
thank

just
want

make
sure
we're
doing

coming

it
the
right
way

think
that
information
is
very
helpful
to
be
understanding
the
the
enforcement
of
the
existing
laws
for
folks
who
have
not
come

applicable
permits
and

appreciate
the
need
to
be
providing
a

closer
form
of
mass
transit,
then
for
single-use
vehicles,
this
forum
and
this
hearing.
That
really
is
about
the
particular
impacts
of
a
provider.
You
know
theory,
aside
of
the
importance
of
that
kind
of
service.

this
impact
the
neighborhood,
the
street,
that
you're
planning
to
pick
up
from
and
the
immediate
impacts
on
on
traffic
and
transportation?
So
let
me
just
finish
the
the
quick
list
of
questions
I'll
just
hit
the
ones
that
are
need
a
little
clarification
given
the
written
responses.
So
in
your
in
your
question
about
the
fare
system-
and
you
talked
about
demand
pricing
and
that
it
would
be
cheaper
to
buy
tickets
further
in
advance,
but
you
don't
specify
what
is
the
range
of
prices
and
what
are
what
generally,
how
you
operate
in
a
city.

a
stab
at
this,
the

the
price
ranges,
aren't
necessarily
set,
and
so
I
can't
say
with
100%
certainty
based
on
the
pricing
that
we've
seen
on
the
route

operate
between

York
and
DC,

low
as
$5
and
as
of
right
now

high

top
end

up
for
holidays
and
things
like

app

pick
up

next
day

up

so
that
they
use
it.
They
probably
thought
I
mean
it's
kind
of
like
the
problem
we
have
in
Houston
I
mean
so
today,
I'm
pretty
sure
it
does
happen.
But
I'm
saying
it's
like
it
shouldn't
be
happening.

only
other

traffic

congestion.

applaud
trying
to
get
cars
off
the
street,
but
when
they're
talking

getting
cars
off

highway,

getting
people

how
do
the
people
get
to
39,000
streets?

concern?
Are
they
taking
cars
so
what
you're
basically
doing
is
you're
taking
50
cars
off

Belvedere,
Street,
Huntington
Avenue
across
the
street?

buses

people

trains

to

our
experience
with
our
customers
have
throughout
our
cities,
have
been
they
are
using
public
transit
to
get
to
their

pickup
or
drop-off
location
or
when
they're
leaving
to
take
public
transit.
So,
for
example,
if
they're
getting
off
their
bus,
they're
utilizing
that
existing
public
transit
infrastructure
or
when
they're
getting
to
their
location,
the
as
majority
our
customers
are
indeed
using
public
transportation.

hope
in
all
of
this,
and
whenever
we're
entering
a
city,
is
to
strengthen
the
existing
public
transportation
system,
meaning
to
get
more
people
using
it
with
respect
to
the
other
communities
we
are
I
want
to
make
sure
the
council
and
the
other
public
service
servants
know
we're,
certainly
open
and
willing
to
look
at
other
neighborhoods
first
for
sure,
and
never
ever
we
wouldn't
do
this
in
Boston.
We
wouldn't
do
this
in
any
city.

first
consult
with
all
of
the
community
stakeholders
in
a
particular
neighborhood
to
ensure
that
a
we're
wanted
there
in
general
and
be
a
specific
location
within
a
neighborhood
works,
and
if
a
specific
location
doesn't
work
for

neighborhood,
we
would
never
invade
a
community.
We
would
work
with
the
community
to
find
what
is
best
so

we
value
and
appreciate
the
concerns
that
are
being
brought

For
two
reasons:
one
is
my
wife
likes
cameo
to
the
house,
sometimes
and
because
I'm
chair
the
neighborhood
association
in
the
Back
Bay.
We
obviously
are
interested
because
of
the
proposed
location
of
this.
This
bus
stop
and
I
would
say
that
there
are.
You
know
there
are
two
issues
of
interest
to
residents
primarily
well.

First
of
all,
I
would
appreciate
it
if
we
could
arrange
for
whatever
presentation
material
you
have
to
be
sent
to
us
so
that
I
can
socialize
it
with
with
with
our
members.
So
the
two
issues
are
one:
will
this
provide
a
better
way
for
residents
who
wish
to
go
to
New,
York
or
northern
New,
England
or
Connecticut,
or
whatever

Personally,
when
I
go
to
New
York
these
days
often
take
if
I
may
mention
a
competitor
to
both
us
from
from
South
Station,
and
it
works
pretty
well
and
I've
also
used
the
bus
that
goes
from
the
Back
Bay
to
the
airport,
which
is
convenient
as
well.
So
there
is
interest
in
bus
traffic.
We
do
have
people
within
nab
part
of
a
Transportation
Committee,
so
we
are
concerned
with
many
of
the
issues
which
the
BTD
and
the
and
the
police
here
have
brought
up.

know
congestion
in
the
streets
and
all
the
rest
of
it.

I
would
say
that
my
first
experience,
the
United
States,
was
actually
bus
based
when
I
first
came
here
as
a
student
in
the
1960s
I
got
a
$99
three-month.
Unlimited
travel
pass
on
greyhound
and
I
realized.
After
going
back
and
forth
west
coast
east
coast
north
south
into
the
south,
that
the
United
States
was
slightly
bigger
than
the
United
Kingdom,
which
I'd
appreciated,
intellectually,
but
not
in
terms
of
physically,
and
he
provided
me
with
an
example
of
meeting
all
kinds
of
people,
some
of
whom
I
liked,
some
of
whom
I
I
didn't
so

face
much
stronger
competition
from
intercity
trains
than
you

serve
residents
in
the
Back
Bay,

the
kinds

demographics
of

customers

income

I
just
want
to
express
my
concern.
You
know
I'm
completely
against
this
being
a
location
where
you
know
any
any
company
would
hold
fixed
space
in
front
of
the
hotel.
Dalton
Street,
you
know,
is
akin
stream
ly
congested
area,
not
to
mention
the
newly
dition
to
the
30
dalton
street
residences,
as
well
as
the
one
dalton
has
added
just
complete
congestion
to
the
back
bay.
I
It
takes
about
15
minutes
just
to
go
from
the
Sheraton
Hotel
up
to
Boylston
Street
with
the
traffic
I
believe
there
is
construction
that
is
beginning
to
go
on
Dalton
Street,
actually
the
next
few
years
to
repair
the
bridge
as
well,
which
is
a
concern
for
us
once
that
happens
and
how
we
can
reroute
all
the
traffic
there.
You
know
currently
that
space
is
not
dedicated
to
any
kind
of
Transportation
is
used
by
the
trolley
company,
which
definitely
benefits
our
guests.
We've
1220
guest
room.
I
So,
at
any
given
time,
the
Sheraton
has
over
3,000
people
and
there's
a
lot
of
traffic
come
going
in
addition
to
that,
because
that
space
is
not
claimed,
we
do
reap
the
benefit
of
having
about
seventy
five
tour
operators.
Every
single
year
come
to
the
hotel
to
drop
guests
off
at
any
given
time
up
to
15
minutes
to
unload
that
bus
of
luggage
and
I
think
that
if
that
space
was
claimed
at
any
one
company,
it
would
cause
complete
congestion
leading
up
towards
the
Heinz
as
well
I'm.
So
that's
when
the
voice.
