Description
Docket #1398, 1470-1482 - Various Confirmations of Appointments
A
And
that
we
are
here
today
to
discuss
several
matters,
all
of
which
are
either
appointments
or
reappointments
to
various
boards
in
commissions
here
in
the
city
of
Boston,
and
so
we
have
with
us
some
guests
and
I
know,
there's
also
a
number
of
the
the
appointees
present
as
well.
So
joining
us
is
Teresa
Lewis
from
the
also
known
as
the
VP
da,
and
also
joined
by
rosy
and
Foley.
A
An
executive
director
of
the
Landmarks
Commission,
along
with
Chrissy
Buscaino,
who
was
also
preservation
assistant
with
the
Landmarks
Commission,
so
turn
it
over
real
quick
to
Teresa
is
to
talk
about
her
role
and
the
appointment
that
she's
here
to
talk
about
and
then
we'll
shift
key
is
over
to
landmarks
and
hear
from
Rosie
Annan
from
Chrissy,
with
respect
to
those
appointments
and
then
try
to
get
everyone
in
as
quickly
as
possible.
So
welcome
and
you
have
the
floor.
Good.
B
Afternoon,
chairman
Flaherty
and
councillor
Baker,
I'm,
Teresa,
Polhemus
and
I'm,
the
executive
director
secretary
of
the
Boston
Planning
and
Development
Agency
I'm
here
this
afternoon
in
support
of
Carol
downs,
who's
been
nominated
by
Mayor
Walsh
for
reappointment
reappointment
to
the
agency's
board.
As
you
may
know,
the
BPD
is
governed
by
a
five-member
board,
four
of
whom
are
appointed
by
the
mayor
and
confirmed
by
the
City
Council
and
one
of
whom
is
appointed
by
by
the
governor
board
members
serve
five
years.
B
Staggered
terms:
the
board
votes
on
all
matters
before
the
agency,
from
personnel
to
transactions,
to
project
approvals
and
zoning
changes
and
everything
in
between
I'm
pleased
to
support
Carol.
This
afternoon
she
has
served
as
a
BPD,
a
board
member
and
treasurer
for
the
past
two
years
and
we're
excited
that
she's
agreed
to
serve
another
full
term.
Carol
is
the
co-founder
and
co-owner
of
Bella
Luna
and
Milky
Way
restaurant
and
Jamaica
Plain,
which
next
year
will
celebrate
its
25th
anniversary
and
business.
B
No
small
feat:
she
served
for
16
years
as
a
trustee
for
the
Neighborhood
House
charter
school,
which
both
of
her
children
attended.
She
lives
in
Roslindale,
her
husband,
Charlie
and
both
of
her
children.
I
hope
you
will
support,
support
her
reappointment
and
I'm
open
to
any
questions
that
you
may
have.
A
A
B
A
A
Than
welcome
to
stay,
we
have
several
of
the
docket
items,
but
important
so
and
then
obviously
welcome
to
rosie
an
antic,
that's
a
chrissy,
and
we
have
a
number
of
docket
items
in
their
sequence.
It's
dark
at
1470
straight
through
to
docket
1482,
all
sort
of
fall
under
the
purview
of
the
Landmarks
Commission.
So
you
both
have
the
floor
is
to
just
a
quick
introduction
for
those
that
are
viewing
at
home
and
and
talked
a
little
bit
about
the
candidacy
of
the
folks
that
you're
involved
with
Thank.
C
You
counselor
I'm
Rosanna
Foley
I'm,
the
executive
director
of
the
Boston
Landmarks
Commission,
and
we
have
a
number
of
Commissioner,
mostly
reappointments,
that
our
preservation
assistant,
Chrissy
bus
shadow,
will
be
reading
because
just
because
I'm
I
happen
to
be
losing
my
voice.
But
we're
pleased
to
be
here
to
look
at
a
long
list
like
this.
That
will
really
go
a
long
way
to
help
us
with
coram
issues
in
our
various
commissions.
So
thank
you
for
having
us.
D
Yeah
so
again,
I'm
Christie
Bosco
and
the
preservation
assistant
for
the
Boston
Landmarks
Commission
I
will
be
speaking
on
behalf
of
and
in
support
of
these
three
appointments
for
our
commissioners:
Boston
Landmarks
Commission
to
preserve
the
historic
fabric
of
Boston.
There
are
various
hearings.
Every
month
the
commissioners
work
through
the
design
review
process
and
they
approve
all
changes
that
go
through
Boston's.
That
Boston
can
keep
looking
like
Boston.
D
So
the
commissioners
that
we
are
looking
to
reappoint
are
as
follows:
Terry
north
as
an
alternate
member
of
the
Back
Bay
West
Bay
State
Road
architectural
conservation
commission
for
a
term
expiring,
jevan,
30th,
2020
Terry
north
has
been
a
member
of
the
Commission
for
about
seven
years.
Pamela
Beale.
As
a
member
of
the
Back
Bay
West
Bay
State
Road
architectural
conservation
commission
for
a
term
expiring,
June,
30th
2020.
She
has
been
a
member
of
the
Commission
since
2010
reappointment
of
Ruth
Knapp.
D
He
has
been
a
member
of
the
Commission
since
2016
Thomas,
so
talling
as
an
alternate
member
of
the
Boston
Landmarks
Commission
for
term
expiring,
June,
30th
2020.
He
has
been
a
member
for
about
seven
years
on.
The
Commission
lends
mileage
as
a
member
of
the
Boston
Landmarks
Commission
for
a
term
expiring,
June,
30th
2020.
She
is
first
joined
the
PLC
and
2011
reappointment
of
Kirsten
Hoffman.
As
a
member
of
the
Boston
Landmarks
Commission
for
term
expiring,
June
30th
2019,
she
joined
her
team
back
in
2007
reappointment
of
David
Perdue
Chee.
D
As
a
member
of
the
Boston
Landmarks
Commission
for
term
expiring,
June
30th
2020.
He
was
first
appointed
in
January
of
2011
reappointment
of
falesha's
jacque's.
As
a
member
of
the
Boston
landmarks
mission
for
a
term
expiring,
June,
30th
2020.
She
has
been
a
for
many
years,
dianna
per
cone
as
an
alternate
member
of
the
boston,
Landmarks
Commission
for
term
expiring,
June,
30th
2020.
D
She
also
has
been
a
member
of
the
commission
for
many
years,
Francois
leashed
as
an
alternate
member
of
the
same
Fatah,
architectural
Conservation,
District
Commission
for
a
term
expiring,
June,
30th
2020,
and
she
has
also
been
a
commissioner
for
MIT.
Since
2016
reappointment
of
John
Kirov.
As
a
member
of
the
Fort
Point
channel
Landmark
District
Commission
for
term
expiring,
May,
1st
2020
he's
been
a
member
since
2011
you
should
have
their
resumes
as
well
in
front
of
you.
D
A
A
So
I,
just
so
I
know
that
I
wanted
to
congratulate
her
and
she's
the
believe
the
mayoral
appointment
to
the
CPA,
so
the
Community
Preservation
Act,
which,
as
you
know,
Leah
marks,
has
a
stake
and
a
seat
there.
So
we
are
gonna,
be
having
hearing
on
the
for
City
Council
selections
tomorrow
that
will
join
the
five
mayoral
/
legislative
ones
to
to
stop
that
process.
They'll
be
nine
individuals
working
with
our
new
director
to
disperse
the
funds
across
the
city
for
affordable
housing
and
green
space,
open
space,
historic
preservation.
A
So
it's
exciting
opportunity
for
us
to
participate.
Past
I
was
saying
overwhelmingly
in
the
last
election,
so
looking
forward
to
seeing
it
so
I
want
an
opportunity
to
congratulate
her
and
let
her
know
that
we're
gonna
be
adding
four
people
to
that
list.
Hopefully
tomorrow
and
we'll
vote
on
Wednesday
so
and
then
for
the
viewing
on
e.
D
So
the
Boston
landmarks
there
is
a
commission
for
the
general
Boston
Lamarck's
Commission
for
article
85
applications
as
well
as
design
review
applications
pertaining
to
current
pending
remarks.
If
somebody
needs
to
make
a
change
to
these
current
or
pending
landmarks,
they
have
to
go
through
the
Commission
who
will
decide
whether
or
not
these
changes
are
appropriate
for
the
historic
facade
of
that
building
structure
area.
What
have
you
the
article
85
serve
for
buildings
that
are
50
years
or
older?
We
can
impose
a
90
day
delay
on
the
demolition
of
these
buildings.
D
If
they
are
historically
significant,
we
give
the
applicant
an
opportunity
to
provide
alternatives
to
demolition
and
then
for
other
nine
historic
districts
depending
on
which
district
it
is.
It's
usually
visible
from
a
public
way.
We
preserve
what
you
can
and
can't
do
to
the
building,
whether
that
be
changing
your
windows,
changing
your
handrails
for
the
entrance
of
the
building
things
like
that
painting
and
we
help
make
sure
that
all
changes
are
appropriate
for
the
district
or
for
the
building
itself.
A
C
D
A
So
good
pickup,
so
it's
important
to
make
sure
the
record
reflects
that
both
of
the
appointments
dock
at
1,
4,
7,
9
reappointment
of
Felicia
Jackson
also
talked
at
1
4
h0
reappointment
of
diana
park
on
for
a
term
expiring,
June,
30th
2020,
all
others
are
also
June.
30
2020,
with
the
exception
of
John
Cara,
is
May
1st
2020.
D
A
A
A
Every
point
so
I
just
want
to
clarify
also
for
the
record
the
minor
housekeeping
issue
document,
one
four:
eight
one:
the
reappointment
of
Francois
release
as
a
member
of
the
st.
potala
architectural
Conservation,
District
Commission
for
a
term
expiring,
June
30th,
the
2020
so
just
want
to
make
sure
that
that's
cleared
up
for
the
record
and
yeah
it's
both
down
in
the
original
docket
as
an
appointment,
so
we'll
handle
it
on
Iran
that
we
resolved
so
so
seeing
and
hearing
no
willingness
for
public
testimony
that
will
conclude
the
public
testimony
piece.
A
A
D
A
As
a
member
of
the
st.
potala
architectural
Conservation,
District
Commission
for
a
term
expiring,
June,
30th,
2020
and
dark
at
1
for
8
to
reappointment
of
join
carafe.
As
a
member
of
the
Fort
Point
channel,
Landmark,
District
Commission
for
a
term
expiring,
May,
1st
2020,
that's
it
and
its
entirety
inaccurate.
So,
with
respect
to
those
docket
items,
it's
my
expectation
to
have
a
committee
report
turned
around
and
have
a
formal
vote
of
the
council
for
approval.
The
appointments
on
this
Wednesday
at
our
council
meeting.
A
So
I
appreciate
your
time
and
attention
to
detail
appreciate
folks
behind
you
taking
time
to
be
here,
but
also
your
willingness
to
serve
in
that
capacity.
As
a
commissioner
or
a
member
of
the
various
commissions
of
Boyd's
play
an
integral
part
of
what
we
do
here
in
the
city
of
Boston.
So
I
commend
your
efforts
and
your
service
and
look
forward
to
working
with
you
and
in
the
years
ahead.
So
with
that
these
darken
matters
and
this
hearing
is
adjourned.
