rebuild

dock

dam
rail
sits
on
that's
over
at
battery
march
and

marine
unit
is
housed-
and

excited

getting
that
too,
because
we
were
able
to
build
a
state-of-the-art
dock
for
that
boat.
The
boat
is
70
feet,
so
you
can
imagine
that
was
a
fairly
large
dock,
but
we
were
rewarded
a
port
security
grant.

provide
just
a
little
bit
of
context.

emergency
management
performance
grant,
which
is
the
one
for
approximately
71
000.
As
you
read
ma'am,
this
is
one
that
is
provided
across
the
commonwealth
to
jurisdictions
as
a
pass-through
from
the
state.
This
money
provides
a
number
of
areas
of
flexibility
for
the
emergency
management
discipline
to
be
able
to
respond
and
provide
services
on
behalf
of
its
core
constituents
this
year.
This
has
been
a
historical
and
perpetually
funded
grant.
A
This
year
we
are
receiving
approximately
71
000,
which
is
within
the
statistical
number
that
we've
received
historically
over
the
years
anywhere
from
69
to
71.72
000..
We
have
primarily
used
this
grant
in
a
couple
of
key
areas,
and
this
year
we
propose
to
use
it
in
two
key
here:
two
key
areas,
one
for
vehicles
and
two
for
gear.

We
are
under
the
public
safety
cabinet
in
many
of
our
roles,
fall
fall
in
supporting
other
disciplines
that
serve
as
the
lead
agency.
A
So,
to
use
an
example,
a
major
fire
across
the
city
emergency
management
may
be
called
in
to
provide
support
by
way
of
shelters
and
or
other
services
to
aid
in
that
response,
and
we
made
a
concerted
effort
over
the
course
of
the
last
several
years
to
ensure
that
our
staff
had
the
proper
gear,
the
proper
insignia
and
the
proper
identification
markers,
so
that
individuals
in
the
communities
could
recognize
them
and
serve
it.
As
and
in
an
official
capacity.

Great,
thank

The
next
one
docket
number
191
is
the
urban
area
security
initiatives
grant
again
ma'am.
This
is
the
2020
grant,
and
this
is
a
a
perpetually
funded
grant
that
we
have
received
in
our
region
over
the
course
of
the
last
20
plus
years.
A
Certainly
since
the
patriot
act
and
reforms
under
that
act
with
regards
to
the
identification
of
these
sensitive
areas
that
have
been
identified
across
the
country,
one
of
the
main
areas,
as
you
know,
when
that
when
that
act
was
passed
and
the
main
provisions
under
the
act
was
to
ensure
that
local
jurisdictions,
both
state
and
local,
could
serve
as
a
partner
in
how
we
defend
our
homeland.
A
It
also
provides
an
enormous
amount
of
support
for
the
city
of
boston
in
the
office
of
emergency
management,
based
on
our
funding
structure,
our
primarily
fund
her
in
supporting
our
positions
and
the
work
that
we
do
not
just
on
behalf
of
the
region,
but
also
on
behalf
of
the
city
of
boston,
comes
by
way
of
this
grant
and
just
very
quickly
just
to
give
some
broad
contextual
overview
of
a
couple
areas.
This
this
grant
is
awarded
to
the
region.
A
Our
region
is
made
up
of
nine
cities
and
towns
to
include
the
city
of
boston,
brookline,
cambridge
chelsea,
everett,
quincy,
rivera
somerville
and
winthrop.
The
office
of
emergency
management
based
on
the
early
construct
of
the
office
serves
as
the
administrative
support
and
the
fiduciary
for
the
region.
So
we
provide
that
support.
On
behalf
of
the
region,
a
and
b
we
provide
core
services,
as
it
relates
to
emergency
management.
A
On
behalf
of
the
city
of
boston,
there
are
eight
specific
mission
areas,
safety
and
security,
critical
infrastructure
and
protection,
intelligence
and
information
sharing,
interoperable
communications,
suburni
response,
which
is
short
for
chemical,
biological,
radiological,
nuclear
and
explosive
detection,
public
health
and
emergency
services,
planning
and
community
preparedness
and
cyber
security,
and,
just
very
briefly,
in
those
specific
areas.
A
Under
the
first
goal
area.
The
primary
mission
is
to
strengthen
communities
the
community
safety
and
security.
This
is
multi-discipline
it
services
and
provides
support
not
just
for
our
public
safety
sector,
but
also
the
health
commission.
We
provided
support
and
infrastructure
work
for
some
of
the
access
points
and
mechanisms
that
are
used
at
security
hall.
Excuse
me
at
city
hall
in
other
areas,
so
it
does
provide
broad-based
support
across
the
region
and
in
the
security
in
the
city.
A
The
second
goal
areas
without
gold
area,
which
is
critical
infrastructure
again,
the
region
is
continuously
improving
protection,
protective
measures
through
physical
security
enhancements
and
again,
as
I
mentioned,
these
areas
have
been
provided,
have
been
used
to
support
places
like
city
hall
and
other
critical
infrastructures
that
are
identified
across
the
city
and
across
the
jurisdiction.
A
The
third
area
deals
with
intelligence
and
information.
This
this
goal
area
provides
broadens
our
ability
to
develop
a
capacity
and
maintain
a
capacity
that
provides
relevant,
actionable
and
timely
information
and
intelligence
and
analytical
support
for
the
region.
We've
used
this
information
in
a
number
of
different
areas:
ma'am
and
counselor
around
elections.
A
It
supports
ems,
it
supports
fire,
it
provides
infrastructure
and
information
that
is
used
as
we
prepare
for
major
events
across
disciplines
such
as
the
marathon
first
night
in
other
areas
outside
of
our
jurisdiction,
like
the
annual
sandcastle
event
that
is
held
in
revere,
because
it
is
a
regional-based
event.
A
Our
fourth
area
deals
with
interoperable
communications,
and
this
enables
us
to
establish
a
regional
network
that
leverages
fiber,
fiber
and
microwave
acid
interoperable
access
across
jurisdictions.
Now
that
was
a
lot
and
what
it
basically
says
is
it
allows
us
to
work
across
disciplines
so
that
we
can
communicate.
Technology
has
vastly
increased
over
the
years.
A
Many
of
our
infrastructures
are
old,
so
this
grant
allows
us
to
continually
invest
in
that
area
so
that,
as
we
look
at
and
particularly
in
the
spirit
of
mutual
aid
and
collaborativeness
and
cooperativeness,
it
allows
us
to
talk
to
our
neighbors
and
across
disciplines
without
having
to
build
up
and
invest
in
individual
systems.
So
this
provides
that
that
ability
to
do
that.
Our
fifth
area
and
I'm
almost
there
ma'am,
is
suburni
again,
which
is
short
for
chemical,
biological,
radiological,
nuclear
and
explosive
detection.
A
It
provides
regional
bomb
squads,
hazmat
and
urban
search
and
rescue
teams
to
involve
themselves
in
preventative
measures,
including
procure
and
decontamination
detection
and
ppe
equipment,
and
it
also
enables
and
allows
for
the
response
to
those
unfortunate
incense
when
they
do
help.
A
And
again,
I
would
point
out,
under
this
particular
area,
mayor
ma'am,
this
equipment
and
this
training
that
is
provided
is
really
not
only
reactive
when
we
have
instance,
but
but
it's
also
proactive,
and
it
enables
us
to
to
provide
services
both
pre
during
and
after
a
major
event,
and
when
we
think
of
our
public
safety
and
when
we
think
of
our
communities
and
members
that
could
be
exposed
during
instances
that
involve
any
of
these
particular
items,
it
protects
and
saves
lives
out
in
a
number
of
different
areas.

So
we
think
about
boston
fire.
We
had
a
major
event
several
years
ago,
where
they
were
fighting
a
fire
over
in
east
boston,
a
casket
fire.
They
were
undeniably
chemicals
in
there
that
equipment
helps
them
to
decon,
we
think
of
the
police
department.
We
think
of
the
tremendous
work
that
the
men
and
women
do
around
drug
interdiction
when
they're
exposed
to
fentanyl
and
when
they're
exposed
to
meth
labs
and
other
vulnerable
areas
to
our
immune
systems.
A
That
equipment
provides
that
level
of
protection
and
again
when
we
think
about
ems,
ems
has
to
respond
to
it
and
treat
those
first
responders,
as
well
as
those
community
members
and
in
many
instances
that
they
are
subject
to
secondary
eye
exposure.
So
this
equipment
is
extremely
helpful
in
providing
that
not
just
for
public
safety,
but
also
on
behalf
of
our
residents,
the
next
gold
area,
public
health
and
medical
services.

want
to
point
out
ma'am
that
our
disciplines
are
police.
Fire
and
ems
are
well
regarded
across
the
country
and
industry
leaders
groundbreaking
and
innovative
in
these
areas.
A
An
investment
in
these
areas
enables
us
to
be
able
to
invest
and
provide
the
level
of
support
that
the
medical
community
needs
particularly
ems,
as
our
lead
medical
response
agency
to
be
able
to
provide
the
level
of
support
that
is
needed
not
just
for
the
discipline
and
not
just
on
behalf
of
our
residents,
but
also
in
working
with
our
rich
medical
community.
So
it
provides
a
deep
level
of
support
for
providing
them
with
the
resources
that
they
need
next
area
planning
and
community
preparedness.

I
want
to
point
out
that
in
this
area,
the
flexibility
under
this
grant
and
the
number
of
the
flexibilities
that
were
awarded
by
the
federal
government
when
covet
hit
this
area
was
extremely
critical
in
enabling
the
city
of
boston
in
public
safety
to
immediately
get
our
hands
on
and
procure
ppe,
so
that
we
were
able
to
provide
continuity
of
services
on
behalf
of
the
city.

They
were
also
helpful
in
enabling
us
to
immediately
distribute
some
of
these
items
out
to
the
community
why
the
city
got
up
to
speed
while
the
country
responded,
while
the
state
responded,
the
final
mission
area
is
going
to
be
cyber
security
and
cyber
security
initiatives,
and
I
want
to
point
out
there
that
this
is
one
of
the
areas
that
requires
mandatory
funding
and
mandatory
efforts
in
those
in
this
area,
both
cyber
security
as
well
as
elections.

We
work
closely
with
the
city
of
boston's
office
of
intel
technology.
Do
it
in
being
able
to
provide
core
services
and
information
that
is
helpful
in
protecting
our
systems?
Interestingly
enough,
one
of
the
systems
that
we're
using
to
host
this
meeting,
so
this
area
does
provide
those
resources
on
that
security
that
helps
to
strengthen
those
areas
so
that
we
can
continue
on
with
the
people's
work
and
then.

Lastly,
I
will
close
with
is
this
program,
as
I
mentioned
earlier,
based
on
our
organizational
construct
within
oem
our
dual
mission
of
providing
emergency
management
and
planning
services
on
behalf
of
the
city,
we
also
support
the
region,
so
an
enormous
amount
of
our
operating
costs
that
go
to
support
those
services
comes
by
way
of
this
grant.

So
I
want
to
close
by
you
know
mention
that
the
spirit
of
this
grant
is
immensely
important
to
emergency
management
in
the
work
that
we
provide,
and
it
is,
has
been
critical
and
will
continue
to
be
critical
for
planning
and
the
services
that
we
provide
not
just
to
our
communities
in
our
city
but
to
the
rich
man.

operating
budget
from

city

boston

really
grant
based
in
many
ways.

talk

little
bit
about
that,
which
is,
I
think,
helpful
as
well
to

colleagues.

the
backbone
of
a
lot
of
our
work.
She
really
adds
up

administrative
side

done
a
lot
of
this
work,

we'll
work
on
through
the
folks
at
igr
and
your
team
to
ensure
that
you

access
to
that
information.

know
that
she
hasn't.

worked

it
to
your

operating

budget,

receive
approximately

again
we
can

actual

Approximately
ten
percent
of
our
budget,
maybe
plus

goes

support

activities
and
our
actions
both
operationally

from
a
human
capital
standpoint.
The
overwhelming
majority,
which
is
six
hundred
thousand
plus,
comes
from
the
grant
and
helping
to
support
those
same
functions.

again,
I

mention
and
can

you
the
the
actual
numbers,
specifically
speaking
overwhelming
majority
of
our
funding
that
supports
our
operation
comes
by
way
of
this
grant.

my
last
question
before
I
turn
it

you
did
quickly
talk
about
the
intelligence
and
info
sharing.
Can
you
just
talk
a
little
bit
more
about
what
that
entails,
because
it's
obviously
a
major
topic

discussion.

think
for
folks
who've
reached
out
to
us
and
then
I
can
turn
it
over
to
councillor

saying

I
want
to
be
respectful
of
the
discipline
boundaries
and
recognizing
that
the
police
department
provides
an
enormous
amount
of
these
services,
so
I
would
refer
to
them
when

opportunity

appropriate

them
to
respond
in
detail.

what
I
will
say,
as
I
mentioned
in
my
earlier
comments,
this
information
that
is
gathered
and
shared
really
across
disciplines
has
been
extremely
helpful
in
how
we
respond
and
prepare
in
this
city,
and
I
think
that
when
we
think
about
intelligence
and
info
sharing,
I
think
we
think
about
it
through
traditional
lenses,
primarily
public
safety
and
law
enforcement.

it
has
been
and
is,
and
will
continue
to
be
helpful
in
areas
such
as
elections
and
the
health
commission
and
how
we
respond
to
different
events
and
how
we
prepare.
It's
also
helpful
for
the
fire
department
when
we
think
about

other
goal
area
that
talks
about
chemical
and
biological
weapons.
That
information
is
extremely
helpful
in
being
able
to
catalog
that
information
share
it
make
it
actionable
and
share
with
the
stakeholders
in
a
way
that
is,
user,
are
user-friendly
and
helpful
as
we
provide
services.

I
want

be
respectful
of
the
boundaries
and
think
about
the
police
department
responding,
but
that
is
a
high-level
overview
on
how
that
information
is
extremely
helpful,
and
I
will

recent
election,

the
presidential
election,

polarizing
it
was.

worked
extremely
well
together
in
the
city,

worked
collaboratively
to
support

elections
department
to
ensure
that
they
had

resources

they
needed.

particular

operations

the
shannon
grant,
give
you
a
quick
overview
of
what
it
is
just
a
basic
outline,
but
I
know
everybody
pretty
much
is
so
shannon
grant
fund
support
the
city
of
boston's
comprehensive
strategy
aimed
at
reducing
gun,
gang
and
youth
violence
in
the
city
by
providing
services
and
interventions
to
at-risk
and
gang-affiliated
youth
within
these
neighborhoods,
the
city
of
boston,
shannon
grant
has
built
successful
collaboration,
balancing
city
community
faith,
social
service
and
law
enforcement
partnerships
with
the
community
using
the
following
elements:
opportunity
provision,
social
intervention
and
prevention
strategies,
community
mobilization
and
organizational
change
and
development
in
2015
boston
police
department
introduced
a
competitive
rfp
process
to
apply
for
the
shannon
greens.
E
This
opened
up
the
grants
of
many
different
non-profits
that
allow
funds
to
be
granted
to
new
organizations
with
the
best
in
community
interest
in
addressing
and
responding
to
youth
violence
through
a
variety
of
means.
This
is
now
an
annual
part
of
the
shannon
funding
cycle
occurring
in
august,
for
which
we
receive
about
50,
to
60
applications
for
the
grant
and
usually
take
on
five
new
partners
annually.

We
believe
shannon
programming
has
had
an
impact
on
youth
violence
city-wide
since
its
inception
in
2006
to
the
end
of
2020,
we've
seen
the
16
decrease
in
homicides.
Nine
percent
decrease
in
aggravated
assaults
in
the
10
decrease
in
total
violent
crimes
all
through
an
initial
investment
of
350
dollars
per
young
person.

So
through
this
year,
this
last
2020
was
a
a
difficult
cycle
for
shannon
I'm
sure
it
was
a
difficult
year
for
a
lot
of
organizations
in
our
city,
but
we
what
we
did
is
strengthen
our
communication
throughout
organizations
and
our
kind
of
cross
partnership
communication.
So
I
would
like
to
take
this
time
to
kind
of
shout
out
a
few
of
our
organizations
and
our
partners
that
have
helped
us
through
that
year,
starting
first
with
the
mayor's
office
of
public
safety
that
will
be
rufus,
faulk
and
xavier
melissa
and
mark
and
marta.

is
pretty
much
kind
of
a
counterpart
to
us
and
we
work
very
close
with
them
and
I
just
want
to
give
them
a
little
bit
of
props

the
things
that
they

drummond
there's
another
network
that
we
have,
that
we're
kind
of
reaching
across
and
kind
of
making
sure
that
we're
all
doing
hitting
on
the
same
points

our

places

The
pivot
was
the
greatest,
because
organizations
had
to
shut
down
all
services
and
it
was
just

think

spent
half
of
the
year
trying
to
figure
out
how
to
pivot
correctly,
how
nonprofits
can
still
do

things
that
they
do
within
within
the
restraints
of
the
grant,
because
there's
great
restraints
for
every
single
different
grant.

there's
no
food,
there's
no
this,
and
so
you
can't
do
those
kind
of
things
once
you
have
that
pivot
and
we're-
and
you
know
it's
just
a
bigger
fight
for
us-
and
so
I
think
it's
all
of
us

do
this
collectively-
to
go
to
the
to
the
state
and
say
hey:
we
need
these
kind
of
services
and
we
need
this
kind
of
a
pivot.

the

fight
for
us

a

heavy
re-entry

the

our

closest
link
to
doing
sort

few

past,
there
had
been
a
a
lot
stronger
of
a
push
for
re-entry
programming,
but

lost
that
that
funding
at
one
point-
and
so
it
kind
of
it
kind
of
fell
to
the
wayside
for
us,
but
we
we
are
working
closely
with
with
the
suffolk
county
house
of
corrections
in
different
programs.

know
inner
city
weightlifting
does
a
little.
Does
some
outreach
too
for
returning
citizens
as
well,
and
I'm
glad
you
mentioned
the
suffolk
county,
sheriff's
department
too,
and
steve
tompkins,
the
ro,
the
critical
role
they
play.
So
how
was
that
relationship
going
just
city
of
boston,
suffolk,
county
and
some
of
the
partners
about
returning
citizens
trying
to
get
them
back
into
into
society
with
the
access
to
a
job?
Some
job
training,
public
health
issues,
public
health
concerns-
I
know
maria
has
her
hand
up.

When
boston
had
run
the
boston
reentry
initiative
for
seven
for
16
years,
at
that
time,
we
had
won
a
lot
of
national
acclaim
because
we
had
lowered
our
recidivism
rate
in
a
great
way.
Due
to
the
work
we
were
doing
through
case
management
services,
job
training,
job
placement,
partnerships
again
under
the
obama
administration.
We
had
won
many
awards
for
the
for
that
work
and
we
had
expanded
it
to
not
only
include
the
suffolk
county
house
of
corrections,
but
the
massachusetts
department
of
corrections,
and
when
that
funding
was
transferred
to
another
nonprofit.

A
couple
of
years
ago,
we
ended
up,
as
the
term
demand
would
use
pivoting
in
a
way
that
allowed
us
to
use
our
ssy
case
managers
to
go
behind
the
wall
and
begin
also
working
with
people
that
were
on
the
ssy
list,
but
also
in
in
in
a
correctional
facility,
and
so
a
lot
of
time
is
spent
with
our
ssy
case
managers
working
on
the
suffolk
county
house
of
corrections,
building
individual
service
plans
for
those
folks
that
are
re-entering
from
suffolk
county
house
of
corrections.

There
are
also
a
lot
of
discussions
going
on
ongoing
around.
How
do
we
re-engage
with
the
massachusetts
department
of
corrections
and
again
do
the
same
work
through
the
five
case?
Managers
that
we're
have
through
ssyi,
so
more
directly
in
sort
of
focused
in
terms
of
our
pivot,
was
when
the
boston
re-entry
initiative,
which
was
the
formal
name
for
it,
had
lost
funding
a
couple
years
back
since
then,
we
have
been
working
to
use
our
ssy
case
managers
to
take
on
that
responsibility.

Obviously,
in
addition
to
that
also,
since
that
time,
the
mayor's
office
had
created
the
boston,
reentry
initiative,
I'm
sorry,
the
boston
reentry
office
and
that
office
does
broader
work
around
re-entry
and
when
I
say
that
they
serve
all
folks
that
are
coming
back
into
the
community
versus
rss
y.

I
case
managers
that
serve
a
very
specific
highest
risk
group,
that's
involved
in
violent
crime,
and
so
it's
it
would
be
nice
to
have
a
separate,
robust,
reentry
only
model,
but
I
think
we
did
a
good
job
pivoting
and
using
our
existing
resources
under
ssy
to
go
behind
the
wall
and
do
that
work.

this
particular
grant
is,

what
they
call
a
formula
grant

formula
grant
it.
Basically,
all
local
jurisdiction
get
jurors
jurisdictions,
get
a
certain
different
amount
of
money
every
year,
it's
a
continuation
grant.
They
get
the
grant
based
on
the
crime
numbers
that
they
submit
to
the
fbi
around
march
early
late
february,
early
march
every
year
regarding
the
prior
year's
crime
stats.

So
for
this
particular
year
we
had
turned
in
our
crime
stats
and
this
the
amount
that
we
are
awarded
through
this
formula
is
3070
three,
three
hundred
and
seventy
thousand
four
hundred
and
fifty
seven
dollars.
As
I
said,
it's
a
continuation
grant,
so
it
continues
to
support
existing
ongoing
positions.

The
three
positions
that
it
supports
is
a
domestic
violence
analyst
that
works
over
at
the
family
justice
center
and
that
person
provides
ongoing
support
to
the
units
of
the
family
justice
center,
which
include
not
only
domestic
violence
but
human
trafficking,
primarily
sex
trafficking
crimes
against
children
and
sexual
assault,
and
so
with
those
numbers
that
come
in
through
those
four
categories.
They
need
a
data
analyst
to
get
to
process
and
to
create
reports
on
those
numbers
and
to
report
those
numbers
out.
So
that's
that
person's
full-time
position.

Another
position-
that's
included
in
this-
is
an
ongoing
position
and
it
is
the
technology
coordinator
for
the
boston
police
department
and
that
technology
coordinator's
role
is
to
not
only
help
set
up
the
new
record
management
system,
which
is
right
now.

We've
onboarded,
mach,
43's
record
management
system,
which
most
people
in
policing
know,
is
the
rms
system.
The
rms
system
collects
crime
data
for
every
incident
that
comes
into
the
city
of
boston,
so
an
incident
report
is
filled
out.
It
is
then
stuck
put
into
the
system,
and
then
people
draw
down
those
numbers
through
that
system
to
be
able
to
again
report
out
crime
numbers
in
all
crime
categories.

not
only
what
is
the
technology
coordinator's
position
to
oversee
the
onboarding
of
this
new
improved
record
management
system,
but
she
also
is
responsible
for
providing
training
and
technical
assistance
to
every
single
person
in
the
boston
police

to
operate
this
record
management
system.

matapan
b3,
and
we're
going
to
try
to
create
a
hub
table
in
the
melania
cass

that
project
right
now,
if
anyone

overseeing
sort

getting
these
four
new
pilot
hubs
up
and
running
in
these
four
districts

exciting

model

allow
us
to
transition
to
a
lot
of
the
police
reforms
that
we've
been
talking
about
all
along
over
the
past
year
and
a
half,
if
not
three
years,
and
we
could.

could
really
use
at

point

opportunity

really
educate
people
on
the
benefits
of
this
model
and
why
it
does
sort
of
fit
well
with
a
lot
of
the
police
reform,
work

we're
all
trying
to
move
forward,

three
positions

get
covered
by
this
continuation
grant.

is
some
funding
in
there
for
all
the
time
oftentimes
we
put
that
in
that
line
item
so
that,
if
something
happens

these

we
can
put
transfer

money

salary
and
friends,

I

the
federal
government

a
transition
space
and
they're
six
months
late

we
don't

these
people
go
and
then
rehire

money
aside

sort

that
we
hire
somebody
who
speaks
spanish
if
we
are

chinatown

to
find
an
advocate
that
speaks,

either
chinese,

cantonese,
and
so
every
effort
is
made
through
the
domestic,
the
hiring
of
domestic
violence
advocates
within
the
boston
police
department
to
make
sure
that
they
speak
more
than
just
english
so
that
they
can
have
outreach
to
other
populations
within
those
specific
communities
that
they're
assigned
to.

that's
the
first
thing.
The
second
thing
we
do
is
we
have
an
extensive
partnership
network
with
casamayor
vesquez
barc,
the
domestic
violence
asian
task
force.

all
these
service
providers
that
we
partner
with

I
say
partner

we're
on

phone
with
them
every
day
they
have
multiple
victim
advocates
that
speak
a
wide
variety
of
languages.

advocates

nonprofit

a

a

partner
with
safetynet,
which
it
used
to

familiar
with
lojack,

it
provides
tracking
for
people
who
have
dementia
or
developmental
disabilities
or
autism.
So
if
they
have
a
tendency
to
wander,
we
can
locate
them
quickly
and
safely,
and
it's
incredible
technology
and
it's
a
little
money
goes
such
a
long
way.

basically,
through
these
funds,
we
can
provide
that
basically
a
lifetime
service
of
this
tracking
for
about
215
individuals
who
can't
necessarily
afford
it
themselves,
we'll
just
kind
of
give
it
away
on
a
first
come
first
serve
basis,
and
also
about
40
id
bracelets
for
people
who
may
not
need
that
level
of
monitoring,
but
might
just
still
be
helpful
to
have
something
to
id
them.

then
that's
the
biggest
budget
line
item
and
then
also
providing
some
training
for
the
street
outreach
unit
with
regards
to
dementia
and
developmental
disabilities
and
to
go
to
some
trainings
for
the
grant,
but
pretty
much.

is

the

we'll
spend
as
soon

we

the

intend
on

it's
a
forty
thousand
dollar
grant.
That
will
allow
us
to
use
twenty
thousand
dollars
to
do
safety
mobilizations
in
conjunction
and
coordination
with
others
with
other
jurisdictions
throughout
the
state
on
an
annual
schedule.
So,
for
example,
the
executive
office
of
public
safety
are
on
super
bowl.
Sunday
will
put
out
a
statewide
mobilization
for
drunk
driving.

Let's
say
in
the
boston
police
will
join
with
other
jurisdictions
to
make
sure
that
everybody's
out
there
keeping
the
roads
safe
during
that
specific
time,
each
there's
a
there's
a
wide
continuum.
Some
of
it
is
speeding
and
aggressive
driving.

Some
mobilizations
are
distracted,
driving,
others
are
impaired,
driving
and
occupant
protection,
so
they
choose
the
mobilization
based
on
the
date
and
the
time
of
year,
and
maybe
events
that
are
happening
annually
during
those
dates
and
times
the
other
20
000
dollars
in
that
grant,
pays
for
transportation
safety
equipment
so
for
our
with
our
20
000.
We're
going
to
be
buying
some
of
those
later
guns,
lidar
guns,
they're
called,
and
basically
they
allow
a
police
officer
to
figure
out
how
fast
somebody's
going
as
they
speed
by.
We
had
a
little
shortage
on
that.

the
bureau

field

investigative
services
for
the
boston
police
department
and
relative
to
this.
This
donation,
the
men
and
women
of
the
boston
police
homicide
unit
would
like
to
express
our
gratitude
to
the
simone
foundation
for
this
generous
donation.

The
boston
police
department
is
committed
to
providing
boston
residents
for
professional
and
effective
investigations.
Training
is
an
integral
component
of
the
investigative
process
each
year,
the
new
members
of
the
homicide
unit.
They
attend
specialized
training
and
death
investigations
this
year,
due
to
the
promotion
and
retirements
of
several
members
of
the
homicide
unit,
we're
going
to
have
a
number
of
new
personnel
assigned
there.

funding
will
assist
us
ensuring
that
new
members
of
the
unit
receive
the
necessary
training.
Also,
the
boston
police,
unsolved
homicide
squad
investigates
homicides
from
previous
years
that
remain
unsolved.
The
squad
is
now
utilizing
the
emerging
field
of
genetic
genealogy
testing
and
an
effort
to
identify
unknown
homicide
victims.

This
science
may
also
yield
identified
of
unknown
suspects.

have

number
of
them
over
the

we

dna
evidence,
but

this
donation
to
train,
investigating
investigators
in
this
new
genetic
genealogy
testing
fields
and
then
also

fatal
collision
investigation
team
investigates
photo

motor
vehicle
accidents

pedestrian
incidents,
the
fatal
team
utilizes
special
equipment.
