departments

we
are
going

departments

this
hearing,
we'll

attempting
to
manage
in
the
following
way.

advancement
first

then

do

we'll
switch
over
to
hear
the

women's

office

migrants,
immigrant
advancement
first
and
then
on
to
the
second
department.
You
will

Our
office
has-
and
I
think
I
can
get
this
yeah
our
office-
has
four
areas
of
focus
that
really
guide
how
we
approach
our
work
and
achieve
our
mission,
of
course,
recognizing
that
immigrants
who
live
in
boston
have
a
range
of
experiences
needs
and
contributions
to
make
to
our
communities.
These
four
buckets,
which
you
see
up
on
the
screen,
I
really
see
as
kind
of
keys
of
success
for
our
immigrant
residents.

Immigrants
residents
have
to
feel
safe
and
stable
here
and
that's
why,
for
instance,
having
immigration
status
is
just
so
important
for
them
to
thrive.
Economic
integration
being
able
to
have
a
good
paying
job
and
increase
in
in
their
wages
and
wealth
is
obviously
another
really
important
key
to
success.
Social
integration.
B
The
idea
that
you
can
integrate
your
home
identity
with
your
boston,
identity
and
really
feel
at
home
here
in
boston
being
who
you
are
from
back
home,
is
really
important
and
also
when
we
think
about,
for
instance,
mental
health
needs,
which
you
know
every
resident
faces
right.
But
how
is
that
delivered
in
a
culturally
sensitive?
You
know
way
such
that
they
they
really
can
socially
be
stable
and
integrate,
and
then
the
last
piece
is
civic
ownership.

And
here
I
know
we
all
believe
so
much
in
engagement
and
ensuring
that
our
services
and
programs
are
are
engaging
our
immigrant
residents,
but
also
really,
how
are
they
at
the
table
crafting
and
designing
these
programs
such
that
they're
really
meeting
the
needs?
B
Now
our
we
address
these
four
buckets
by
really
as
moya
playing
the
following
four
roles
within
the
city
of
boston,
so
the
first
is
being
a
liaison,
a
really
bridge
between
city
hall
and
our
immigrant
communities.
So
when
and
if
an
immigrant
resident
sees
a
particular
need
or
a
challenge
on
the
ground,
we
want
them
to
connect
with
us
or,
if
they're,
having
challenges
with
a
particular
department
connecting
there.
Then
we
can
be
that
conduit
to
that
department
and
really
help
that
department
get
better
at
serving
our
immigrant
residents.

The
second
role
is
really
is
consultant,
and
that's
really
advising
the
mayor
and
other
city
departments
on
you
know
how
to
respond
to
to
events,
policies
and
and
programs,
and
a
good
example
of
this
is
how
back
in
the
summer,
when
we
had
a
number
of
haitian
arrivals
come
here,
we
really
pulled
together
a
number
of
departments
to
to
serve
those
arrivals,
put
an
unprecedented
233
thousand
dollars
of
arpa
monies
into
supporting
that
which
then
our
haitian
community
partners
were
able
to
leverage
and
push
the
state
to
put
an
additional
eight
million
dollars
of
arpa
monies
into
that
support.

The
third
role
we
play
is
as
an
advocate
and
that's
really
to
publicly
lend
our
voice
the
mayor's
voice,
the
city's
voice
to
our
immigrant
communities
and
recommend
policies
affecting
immigrants
to
the
mayor.
So
a
great
example
of
this
is
the
driver's
license
bill,
which
I
know
so
many
of
you
and,
of
course,
mayor
wu
has
been
a
huge
advocate
for
and
and
I'm
excited
that,
hopefully
it's
going
to
get
passed
soon
and
then
the
last
area
that
we
do
play
a
role
in
is
as
as
a
direct
programmer.

But
our
programs
are
really
meant
to
be
designed
in
such
a
way
that
they
are.
We
design
the
program
and
they're
meant
to
create
a
change
reaction
such
that
there's
transformative
change
for
our
immigrant
communities
and
a
great
example
of
that
is
our
immigrant
lead
boston
course.
We've
put
now
39
immigrant
residents
through
this
over
two
years,
and
this
is
a
12-week
course
on
how
the
city
works,
how
the
budget
works
and
they
get
to
meet
with
different
directors
and
chiefs
and
and
and
my
real
hope
is
five
years
down
the
line.

We
have
a
bunch
of
100
immigrant
leaders,
many
of
them
serving
on
commissions,
many
of
them
perhaps
applying
for
jobs
and
and
all
of
them
really
communicating
how
city
hall
works
with
their
within
their
own
immigrant
community,
such
that
this.
This
body,
the
city
government,
is
really
in
a
transformative
way
serving
all
of
our
immigrant
residents.

In
a
way.
That's
that's,
culturally
competent.
Now,
the
one
thing
our
department
is
not
meant
to
be
is
a
one-stop
shop
and
you
know
for
for
me.
Actually
success
would
be
when
we
didn't
need
a
moya
in
city
government,
because
every
every
department
would
be
amazing
at
being
able
to
serve
all
of
our
immigrant
residents.

So
that's
moya's
role.
I
just
want
to
take
a
moment
to
acknowledge
my
staff.
I
really
feel
I
have
the
best
staff
in
city
hall.
You
can
see
their
faces
right
there
over
11
full-time
one
employment
agreement,
one
person,
unemployment
agreement
between
us.
We
have
11
different
ancestries
over
16,
different
languages,
representative
of
our
staff,
and
these
folks
put
in
incredibly
hard
work
for
our
residents,
and
I
just
want
to
thank
them
as
well
as
so
many
of
our
city,
colleagues,
that
have
been
amazing
partners,
as
well
as
community
partners
on
the
ground.

But
the
one
thing
I'll
just
say
is
that
we
are
still
recovering
and
our
particular
low-income
immigrants
are
recovering
from
covet,
and
so
the
one
I'll
just
point
out
that
we
did
use
a
million
dollars
of
arpa
money
to
provide
basic
needs
assistance
to
particularly
folks
that
did
not
get
any
federal
benefits
you
know
during
during
covet
and
and,
like
I
said,
there's
a
number
of
other
programs.
I
know
so
many
of
the
counselors
have
been
to,
for
instance,
citizenship,
day
counselor.
I
know
we
recently
counselor
anderson.
B
I
know
we
recently
partnered
on
the
community
of
star
out
there,
and
so
thank
you
for
your
partnership
there,
but
happy
to
take
any
questions
on
any
of
these
programs.
I
want
to
just
take
a
moment
to
talk
about
the
proposed
investments.
B
You
know
the
big
storyline
is
that
our
budget
is
going
to
be
growing
by
1.1
million
dollars,
and
that
is
the
most
growth
in
the
history
of
moya,
and
I'm
grateful
to
mayor
wu
for
making
the
largest
investment
into
this
this
office.
Now
I'll
talk
about
specifically
our
three
investments
that
we're
we're
proposing
here
and
the
first
one
is
around
expanding
access
to
immigration,
legal
services
and
here's
the
context
to
that.

First
and
foremost,
the
number
one
immigration
legal
help
is
the
number
one
issue
that
our
office
gets
contact
about,
contacted
about
for
constituent
services.
Number
two:
is
you
all
know
about
the
greater
boston
immigrant
defense
fund,
we're
proud,
as
the
city
put
in
100
000,
we're
the
only
public
funder
to
that
fund.

I
have
to
say
that,
unfortunately,
private
philanthropy
after
president
biden's
election
has
stepped
away
from
the
greater
boston
immigrant
defense
fund
and
even
though
the
legal
immigration
legal
needs
are
like,
I
said
the
number
one
piece
that
folks
are
calling
us
about,
and
then
the
third
reason
the
third
context
to
to
why
we
propose
this.
B
Half
a
million
dollar
investment
is
that
we
actually
had
the
opportunity
in
fy
22,
as
president
bidet
did
create
some
legal
pathways
like
tps,
to
pilot
a
really
interesting
way
of
providing
immigration
legal
services,
which
was
to
build
legal
capacity
directly
within
our
immigrant
serving
cbos.
B
A
half
a
million
dollar
investment
and
what
it
would
do
is
essentially
give
grants
to
hire
culturally
competent
attorneys,
hire
paralegals
case
coordinators
and
pay
for
the
doj
accreditation,
training
processes
and,
like
I
said,
building
that
capacity
right
within
the
cbo's
as
opposed
to
the
bigger
legal
aid
organizations.
So
that's
the
first
investment.
The
second
investment
is
our
immigrant
professionals
fellowship.

There
are
so
many
immigrants
in
the
state
in
the
city
that
and
the
state
who
have
experience,
who
have
who
were
trained
back
home,
in
particular
industries,
but
are
not
working
in
those
same
industries
here,
and
so
what
we've
done
is
partnered
with
the
african
bridge
network
to
create
a
three-month
fellowship.

This
is
in
the
medical
industry
at
four
of
the
best
hospitals
in
the
world
to
give
them
the
experience
and
the
pathway
to
enter
into
this.
We
had
10
folks
that
were
part
of
this
pilot.
Five
of
them
have
already
gotten
jobs,
and
we
we're
very
confident
the
rest
will
as
well,
and
what
we're
doing
is
expanding
this
program.
We've
actually
brought
some
other
private
funders
to
it
to
25
folks
now
15
of
them
funded
the
city
of
boston.

So
I
don't
want
to
take
away
from
my
colleague,
I'll
just
wrap
up
by
saying
that
the
dreamers
fellowship,
which
I'm
sure
you
all
are
really
really
aware
of.
We
want
we
did
this
program
over
the
summer
with
200
kids.

We
want
to
up
that
to
480
kids
throughout
the
year
and-
and
I
can
get
more
into
the
question
and
answer
session
about
that.
Just
the
last
slide
is
what
are
our
goals
in
addition
to
our
investment,
which
again
I
can
speak
to
in
the
question
and
answer
session
with
that
I'll
turn
it
over
to
my
call.

a
little
bit
over
the
what
the
office
of
women's
advancement
do,
I
wanted
to
bring
just
a
little
bit
of
overview
sort
of
a
refresher
of
what
of
what
we
do.
Our
mission
is
to
promote
gender
equity
by
empowerment
and
empowering
women
and
removing
systematic
barriers
to
their
advantage.
The
way
that
we
do
work
in
the
office
of
women's
advancement
is,
we
focus
in
different
buckets,
one
of
them
being
economic,
equity,
safety
and
empowerment.

I'll
skip
over
some
of
the
some
of
the
population,
but
just
to
give
some
numbers.
So
we
all
know
right.
Boston
is
home
to
351
000
women
and
girls,
so
this
is
the
data
as
of
2
2018.
make
up
52
percent
of
boston's
population
and
we
can
dive
more
into
the
actual
numbers.

But
I
want
to
make
sure
that
we
go
through
the
rest
of
the
slides
a
little
bit
of
the
programming
that
we
do
in
the
office
we
currently,
we
have
worked
very
alongside
the
women's
workforce
council
in
the
launch
of
our
wage
gap,
calculator
and
I'll
get
to
that
in
one
of
my
other
slides,
salar
negotiation
workshops,
our
child
care
entrepreneur
fund
who
helps
us
help
in-home
child
care
providers
when
it
comes
to
training
and
also
helps
them
around
monetary
support
and
as
to
what
they
say
fit
and
using
the
funds
for,
and
also
allows
them
to,
engage
and
empower
one
another
and
work
together
with
other
child
care
providers
in
the
city
of
boston.

In
that
same
bucket,
we
include
also
our
child
care
survey,
which
our
the
survey
has
helped
us
shape.
The
way
that
we
do
programming
when
it
comes
to
child
care
in
the
city
of
boston
and
of
some
upcoming
projects
that
we
have
is
reshaping
the
the
mayor's
office
of
women's
advancement.
And
how
do
we
see
the
office
moving
forward
in
those
fiscal
year,
but
also?

A
little
bit
of
our
work
in
economic
equity,
like
I
mentioned
earlier,
closing
the
wage
gap
in
order
to
solve
complex
problems.
We
must
apply
a
multi-program
approach
and
we
make
sure
that
we
do
that
by
working
with
the
women's
workforce
council,
the
boston
model
is
made
up
of
three
parts,
which
is
employers,
individual
women
and
legislation.

The
console
overseas
100
talent,
compact,
a
pledge
business,
is
signed
to
commit
to
access
their
own
data
to
see
the
wage
gap
exists,
and
this
data
helps
us
allow
to
be
able
to
gain
information
as
to
what
are
employers
doing
to
help
us
close
the
gender
wage
gap.
And
what
are
we
as
a
city
and
employers,
doing
to
also
help
and
make
sure
that
we
are
providing
the
appropriate
information
and
also
benefits
to
be
able
to
close
that
gap.

Recently,
in
collaboration
with
the
women's
workforce
council,
we
have
been
able
to
launch
and
create
the
employer
wage
gap
calculator.
This
has
been
such
an
amazing
project
to
work
on
throughout
the
year
and
also
our
partners
at
bu
and
everyone
from
the
workforce
council
and
the
team
at
women's
advancement
to
help
us
create
this
tool.

The
calculator
is
easy
to
use
and
it
helps
employers
actually
do
the
math
and
based
on
the
data
from
the
2021
wage
gap
report
april
20th
marks
the
boston
nuclear
pay
day
resembling
the
number
of
days
into
2022.

That
woman

work
in
order
to
earn
to
pay
in
2021
and
I'll
be
more
than
happy
to
share
the
link
to
the
actual
calculator
and
it's
a
great
tool
for
any
employer
to
be
able
to
sign
up
and
put
in
their
data

their
current
employer
data

help
them
calculate
and
the
way
that
we
always
do
this
and
I'm
happy
we're
always
in
the
process
of
looking
as
to
obtaining
the
data
and
see
how
many
people
have
used
the
calculator
who
has
access
to
calculating
also
the
many
times
that
people
have
engaged.

council
report

was
just
released,

dollar,

average
wage
gap

cents,
six

increase
from
2017..
Again.
These
reports
are
all
public
and
happy
to
share
with
anyone
who
might
need
access
to
them.
2021
sample
represented
that

the
workforce,
which
is

one

the
great
engagements
and
program

currently
the
office
do
is
our
sally
negotiations
harvard
policy
analysis.
As
we
all
know,
in
the
past,
the
office
of
women's
advancement
has
been
very
lucky
to
offer
free
salary
negotiations
to
all
women
and
those
who
identify
as
in
the
city
of
boston
and
helping
us
through
that
process.

One
of
the
reasons
why
I
wanted
to
come
in
and
look
into
how
do
we
reimagine
our
salary
negotiation
classes
is
to
make
sure
that
we
are
being
accepted,
make
sure
that
we
are
being
supportive
in
all
aspects
and
not
just
focus
on
salary.
We
all
know
that
not
every
single
woman
and
those
who
identify
as
women
are
salary
workers
in
the
city
of
boston.

It's
a
little
bit
about
the
program.
It's
a
two-part
program
that
supports
small
women
and
minority-owned
family
child
care,
businesses
in
the
city
of
boston.
It
enhances
child
care,
access
to
boston
families,
and,
like
I
mentioned
before
and
fy23,
the
program
is
moving
to
the
new
office
of
early
childhood
under
human
services.

The
program
helps
stabilize
and
assist
new
family
child
care
through
businesses,
offering
a
3
500
grant
and
also
helps
empower
family
child
care,
educators
with
business
skills
for
their
sector
through
a
six
workshop
curriculum,
including
budgeting
contracts
and
record
keeping.
I
do
say
that
the
the
beginning,
when
we
first
started
the
classes
for
the
child
care
entrepreneur
fund,
and
I
thank
all
of
you
for
the
ingo
and
support
and
investment
in
the
program.

As
to
continue,
why
is
needing,
as
of
september,
2021
boston
lost
13.6
percent
of
its
licensed
child
care
programs
that
were
open
pre-pandemic,
it's
about
72,
family,
child
care
providers
and
20
centers
from
december
2017
to
march
2021.
The
number
of
seats
available
for
children
zero
to
five
years
fell
by
11.3
percent
boston.
Child
care
providers
are
amongst
the
most
vulnerable
workers,
92
percent
are
women.
62
women
of
color
and
39
are
immigrants
and
an
average
earning
of
thirty
three
thousand
a
hundred
and
twenty
dollars.

a
little
bit

the
childcare
entrepreneur
fund
by
the

so
we
have
an
idea
of
exactly
where
the
funds
and
how
many
family
care
products
we
have
helped
and
I'll
go

this
in

at
this
point
considering

rocket

workshop

number

haitians
brazilians
coming
up
here

federal
government
is
doing
a
rocket
docket
here
in
the
area,
which
is
basically
a
judge.
That's
processing
these
asylum
cases
in
a
much
much
quicker
way.

this
person
is
working
to
create
kind
of
those
workshops
in
a
similar
way
to
what
you
experience
at
citizenship
day,
but
particularly
focusing
on
on
this.

often
left
you
know
needing
help
or
trying
to
figure
it
out,
and
they
can't
and
of
course
I
don't
believe
this
lawyer
would
be
the
one
to
answer
all
or
to
act
as
the
attorney
right
because
they're
alive,

we're
not
going
down
that
road,
but
I
think
there
could
be
some
benefit
to
having
a
lawyer
on
staff
to
help
triage
some
issues
and
really
deepen
those
relationships
and
partnerships
with
universities,
or
you

helping
to
build
that
long-term
capacity
with
brazilian
worker
center
with
ifc
with
all
these
other
organizations
that
are
doing.

to

greater
boston,
immigrant
defense
fund,
you
said
you've
also
stated
that
the
private
monies
and
that
have
dwindled
post
the
election
of
president
biden,
although

ironic
because
totally

issues
have
only
augmented,

curious

we
can
do
to
further
buttress
the
greater
boston
immigrant
defense
fund,
given
that
a
lot
of
our
private
partners
have
pulled
out.

pushing

private
partners
to
come

year

exact

private
funders
have
been

clear

coming

that
same
amount

orgs

with

not
get
those
federal
benefits

they
publicized
the

and

publicized
certainly

the
media
and
anyone

able

orgs
to
to
get
that.
Many
folks
contacted
us,
but
what
I
liked
about
this
program
was
because
it
was
really
these
immigrant
serving
orgs
running
it.

application
was
in
their
particular
languages.

numbers
for
continuing
supporting,

open
family
child
care
providers
who
are
using

funds
specifically
to
help
rebuild
from
covet.

their

wage
theft

workers

exploited

reasons

because

their
immigration

the
worst
things

is
steal
someone's
wages,

person
needs
those
wages

to
support

family,

been
working
with
the
chinese
progressive
association
on
this
issue

error

that
we
work
with
businesses
and

labor

advocates

union
or
not
in
a
union.

that
have

survivors
of

issue
as

work
with
the
asian
task
force

force
against
domestic

big
biggest
challenge

director
was
telling
me
they
don't
have
enough
interpreters
or
someone
to
translate
for
them.

the

about

violence

commission
can
play

relatives

died

conditions,

faith

their
new
country

involved

volunteered.

served

country

armed
forces

got
on
boards
in
commissions

activities
and
joined
the
union.

child
care
is
critical
for
working
families,
it's
increasingly
very
difficult
to
access
and
it's
becoming
more
expensive.

Clearly,
the
pandemic
impacted
that
sector
tremendously,
arguably
almost
decimated
it
in
some
respects.
I
guess
the
question
is:
are
the
funds
intended
to
help
bring
back
the
licensed
care
providers
or
to
help
providers
that
may
have
been
on
the
brink
of
closure
or
were
forced
to
close
because
of
the
pandemic?.

Yeah,
the
phones,
the
funds
are
used
for
both
right.
The
providers
or
those
who
are
licensed
can
use
the
funds
as
to,
however,
they
see
fit
that
will
best
support
their
their
program
and
through
the
classes
that
they
take
the
six
workshops
and
they're
able
to
analyze
from
from
start
to
finish
as
to
when
it
comes
to
creating
that
business
plan.
When
it
comes
to
creating
that
pipeline
of
helping
them
re,
restructure,
reframe
their
small
business.

But
it's
helped
them
to
be
able
to
come
back
from
covet
help
them
to
be
able
to
support
when
it
came
to
purchasing
a
lot
of
the
ppe
that
was
from
covet
and
now,
as
we
are.
Stepping
away
that
we

more
enjoying

outside

kids
are
able
to
go
outside

helping
them
support

create
that
recreational
space
for
the
children
in
their
care.

also
noticed

our
budget
books
that
the
child
care
is
moving
away
from
you
right
into
the
office

early
childhood
with
respect
to
fiscal
year

maybe

thoughts
on
that
is
sort

a
better
and
more
appropriate
home
for
that.

is
that
something
that
you
would
prefer
sort
of
see
where
you're
at

the
director
of
women's
advancement.

boston
public
school
system.

had
a
situation
over
at
the
mission
school
and
they
took
it
upon
themselves.

didn't
call
911
or
reach
out
to
the
boston
police
sexual
assault
unit.
They
didn't
call
the
da's
office
to
talk
about
the
child
abuse
unit.
They
engaged
a
private
law
firm
and
spent
over
a
quarter
of
a
million
dollars.

think

dollars,
based
on
their
budget
money
that
would
have
been
frankly,
would
have
been
better
spent.
They
didn't
need
to
spend
their
money.
They
just
needed
to
call
the
boston
police
sexual
assault
unit,
they
needed
to
call
the
da's
child
abuser
or
they
could
have
just
dialed
in
for
a
51a.

Instead,
they
had
a
private
law
firm
with.
I
guess
their
own
discretionary
funds,
if
you
will,
but
they
didn't
come
to
this
body
asking
for
the
expenditure,
and
so
your
your
department,
obviously
that
it's
doing
sort
of
significant
and
meaningful
work
for
for
residents
new
bostonians,
you
know
would
have
been
you
know.
Could
you
imagine
what
you
could
have
done
with

answering

have

budget

big

funds

up

nowhere.
They

come
here
hat
in
hand,
so
sort

begging,
scratching
a
car
and
asking
that
they
need
more
money.
But
then
you
learn
that
they
spend
the
money.

foolishly
like
that,

but
again
best

is

easy
problem

just

resources

teachers

levels

people
are
coming

different
backgrounds

different
needs

is

way

solve

of
the
needs
being

varied

interests

challenge

that

think
carefully

council

a
real

populations

these
folks

with

kind
of
pulled
into
their
existing.

clientele

expanding

huge

the
things

we're
building
into
our
application
process,
for
whoever

is

they

climb

report

bad

rule

is
when
we
saw

rivals
coming

in

border

with

permits

paperwork

haven't

we
did
see
that
in
the
trump
years,
but
not

push

department

homeland
security
to
see
how
we
can
get
some
regular
paperwork

really
kudos

unlay

my
team
to

lead
that
work.

are
a
couple
examples
of
how
you
do
that
and
other
times.
It
is
just
simply
putting
out
a
statement
when
there's
a
policy
that's
enacted,
and
we
did
that
again
a
lot
during
the
trump
years
right,
whether
it
was

use
of
ice
to
go
after
communities,
thankfully
not
in
boston
but
outside
when
you
know
trump
would
threaten
raids.
We
would
then
make
sure
that
the
mayor
is
out
there.
You
know
assuring
our
residents
that
the
city
is
going
to
protect
them.

That's
why
we
pass
the
trust
act
here
in
boston,
so
those
are
the
kinds
of
things
that
that
we
have
been
doing
and
we'll
continue
to
do
it,
as,
as
you
know,
if
that
kind
of
hate
results
from
the
federal
government.

feel

we've

resources

into
our
budget,

the
most
important

strategic
planning
process
is
we're
going

immigrant
communities
and
we've
already
done
two
three
of
them.
They've
been
so

enlightening
one
actually
with

latino
community
by
the
way
in
east
boston.

the
12-week
civic
program.

Yeah,
so
it's
every
year
close
around
20
residents,
immigrant
residents
go
through
this
program.

So
it's
really
closing
that
equitable
access
gap
piece
by
the
way
counselor
coletta
my
phone-
was
blowing
up
because
we
do
have
a
session
on
civic
associations
that
I
had
was
not
remembering,
but
my
staff
reminded
me
of
and
and
you
know
there
was
a
bu
study
on
it
actually,
when
we
first
did
the
pilot
that
just
found
just
it
took
a
really
successful
program.

think,
if
I'm
not
mistaken-
and
we
can
get
you
this,
this
report
actually,
but
ninety
percent
of
the
folks
were
really
engaged
post
the
program,
so
we've
got
38
participants
so
far
from
25
different
countries
represented
and
I'm
happy
to
go
through
those
countries.

The
women's
advancement
is
something
that
I've
worked
on.
You
know
my
entire
career,
either
electing
women
or
just
building
a
pipeline
of
leadership.
So
this
work
is
incredibly
important
to
me
and
just
know
you
have
a
partner
in
me
in
this
work
and
I
actually,
when
coming
out
of
college,
when
I
graduated
in
2016
from
from
umass
boston,
I
took
a
pay
equity
workshop
and
I
was
offered
a
job
for
35
000.
I
We
all
know
that
that
is
nothing
in
this
day
and
age
and
I
negotiated
a
10
000
increase
directly
because
of
the
work
that
this
program
does
and
what
I
learned.
So
I
am
a
case
study
if
you
ever
need
one
and
a
testimonial,
but-
and
I
am
pleased
to
hear
that
the
classes
are
working
to
be
more
inclusive
of
low-income
workers
and
informing
them
of
their
rights.
I
I
would
also
throw
domestic
workers
in
there
as
well
too
they're
largely
unseen
and
underpaid,
but
they
are
the
the
folks
who
keep
working
women
in
their
positions.
So
I
would
shout
them
out
and
recognize
them
and
when
you're
thinking
about
next
steps
in
reshaping
the
office,
pay,
equity
and
closing
the
gap
is
important.
I
I
think
it
also
speaks
to
what
we
can
do
to
build
and
maintain
wealth
so,
and
that
includes
financial
literacy,
and
you
know
how
to
create
a
budget
understanding,
how
credit
works,
saving
for
retirement
understanding,
financial
instruments
like
bond
stocks
and
creating
an
investment
plan,
so
that
could
be
the
next
step.
I
already
know
women
in
this
area
that
are
doing
this
work,
so
you
could
hire
you
know
small
businesses
who
are,
or
even
just
contractors
or
consultants
who
are
in
this
space.
I
I
can
think
of
one
who
is
a
spark
alumni
who
is
doing
this
work?
So
that's
just
something
to
consider
as
you
move
forward
when
you're
thinking
about,
because
the
child
care
work
is
moving,
how
to
advance
this
work.

developing

address
the
different
cultures
and
identity

the
women,

women

different
influences

well

are

we,
like
I
mentioned
earlier,
we
we
started
doing
some
research
in
regards
to
that
space,
and
specifically,
we
have
done
some
work
in
regard
to
other
nonprofit
organizations.
We're
really
looking
forward
to
the
opening
in

the
new
executive
director
for
the
office
of
lgbtq
advancement,
that's
going
to
allow
us
to
also
tap
into
that
work
as
well,
and
also
tap
into
working
with
that
population
as
well.
