Afternoon
counselors,
my
name
is
Eamonn
Shelton
I'm,
the
director
of
operations
for
the
Boston
Public
Library
I'm,
here
with
Brian
McLaughlin
from
the
public
facilities
department
and
we're
here
before
you
today,
because
we
we
would
like
permission
to
accept
a
grant
on
behalf
of
the
Massachusetts
public
library,
construction
program,
mass
board
of
library,
commissioners,
in
the
amount
of
five
million
five
hundred.
Ninety
seven
thousand
three
hundred
seventy
four
dollars.
This
is
for
the
Dudley
branch
renovation
project.
The
Boston
Public
Library
submitted
application
for
this
grant
program
in
collaboration
with
the
public
facilities
department.
E
Luckily,
we
were
one
of
the
projects
selected
and
we
asked
for
permission
today
to
accept
the
award
and
I'm
happy
to
answer
any
questions.
Actually,
a
couple
points
to
add
is
the
Dudley
branch
renovation
project
is
slated
for
closure
to
begin
construction
on
November
17th.
The
total
project
budget
is
fourteen
point:
seven
million
dollars.
The
building
is
a
twenty
seven
thousand
square.
Foot
library
will
be
a
full
renovation.
We
expect
to
reopen
after
construction
in
the
spring
of
2020.
B
E
So
that's
my
understanding.
It's
a
bill
do
a
percentage
of
the
total
construction
cost,
so
obviously
the
larger
the
project,
the
higher
percentage
that
you'll
get.
Oh.
So
again,
our
project
budget
is
about
fourteen
point
seven,
and
so
the
the
amount
of
Ward
is
about
just
over
five
and
a
half
million
right.
B
And
you
mentioned
and
you're
opening
that
the
17th
is,
the
branch
is
scheduled
to
close
and
I
had
a
library
in
my
district
several
years
ago.
Now
the
brighton
branch
that
also
had
to
close
during
renovations-
and
we
try
to
you-
know,
provide
other
locations
where
people
could
at
least
check
out
books
or
order
books
for
delivery,
and
you
know
try
to
make
that
transition
as
smooth
as
possible.
There
any
plans
as
such
for
for
this
closing.
Yes.
E
Absolutely
we
are
still
working
on
final
details:
they're
all
posted
on
BPL
org
our
website,
but
we
encourage
all
users
to
use
any
one
of
our
local
branches.
Actually
Parker
Hill
Branch
Library
is
currently
closed,
but
that
will
be
the
closest
branch
to
people,
the
Eccleston
branches
within
close
proximity
as
well.
We
will,
we
will
be
doing
programming
for
the
public
adult
programming
in
the
area
as
well
as
children's
story
times
within
the
community.
So
I
just
encourage
everyone
to
look
out
for
that
on
our
website.
How.
E
B
C
C
Smoked
the
fourteen
point:
seven
million
dollar
budget
started
construction,
middle
of
November,
late,
November
reopening
in
the
spring
of
2020
for
those
familiar
with
the
library
in
the
heart
of
W
square.
We're
gonna
be
reorienting
the
the
front
door,
so
it's
gonna
be
facing
the
square.
We're
gonna
create
a
brand
new
Plaza
out
front
with
a
Reading
area.
C
F
I
just
think
peek
at
what's
in
store,
so
it's
exciting,
strung
in
long
term
support
of
our
libraries
and
always
say
our
libraries,
our
community
centers,
our
health
centers.
This
a
lifeline
of
many
of
our
neighborhoods
every
neighborhood
should
have
one
so
excited
to
see
that
definitely
branches
getting
much-needed
in
long-awaited.
E
You're
right,
you're,
absolutely
right,
so
the
chest
community
is
really
strong,
as
you
mentioned.
If
Dudley
they've
been
advocating
for
further
continuing
that
they've
been
active
in
our
community
meetings
and
so
absolutely
they'll,
be
both
provisions
inside
and
outside
for
chess.
So
that
can
continue.
