In remembrance of September 11th, Mayor Wu marked the anniversary with ceremonies throughout the City of Boston. This included a State House name-reading ceremony of Massachusetts residents who passed that day.

Following flight attendant Amanda Sweeney's brave acts, which provided invaluable information in the wake of the September 11th terrorist attacks, Massachusetts created a ceremony in her honor. At the 16th Annual Sweeney Award Ceremony, Governor Baker, Mayor Walsh, Speaker DeLeo, police officers, politicians, and clergy gathered at the State House to honor the lives lost on September 11th, and award the Sweeney Award for Civilian Bravery to Jaden Dancy, whose mother accepted on his behalf.
