From YouTube: North End Senior Luncheon
Description
Mayor Walsh and elected officials meet with seniors at the Nazzaro Community Center in Boston's North End, to discuss local issues and inform them of the many available city services.
A
A
A
A
I'm
going
to
turn
it
over
with
we're
going
to
pass
around
again.
We
have
a
number
of
elected
officials
here
today.
They
want
to
say
a
few
words
and
thank
you
for
their
support,
but,
first
and
foremost,
we
going
to
know
off
the
medicine
Tamar's
want
to
thank
the
mayor
for
all
his
support.
For
this
event
today,.
A
C
With
the
represent,
with
our
presenter
microwaves,
with
your
City
Council
who's,
a
dear
friend
and
a
very
good
help,
sour
mattina,
your
new
state,
senator
Jovan
Corey,
our
Commissioner
of
elderly
Affairs,
Emily,
shame
does
incredible.
Job
and
I
wanted
to
gain
some
diversity
in
the
Rumba
today.
So
I
brought
a
guy
from
selfie
with
me.
Commissioned
oh
yeah,.
C
B
C
C
C
C
If
you
own
your
home
and
you,
you
have
water
and
sewer
coming
to
el
martes,
if
you
own
it
you're
eligible
for
a
30-percent
senior
discount,
which
is
a
lot
of
money
over
the
course
of
the
year,
depending
on
whatever
your
bill
is,
so
they
show
you
what
you're
aware
that
you
have
any
friends
that
only
long,
and
so
they
are
aware
of
it
to
take
advantage
of
that.
We
also
work
with
comcast,
all
of
us
collectively,
together
to
get
they
had
a
five-dollar
just.
E
C
Did
so
beautiful,
it's
nine
dollars,
it's
not
a
lot,
but
it's
more
than
the
five
and
this
more
than
something
else
think
so
we're
going
to
keep
at
them
by
the
way
to
get
them
down
so
make
sure
if
you
have
comcast
in
your
house,
make
sure
you
get
is
a
discount.
They
gave
you
but
make
sure
you
get
the
next
discount
in
contact
our
elderly
commission
to
do
that.
We're
working
trying
to
work
with
utility
companies
to
lower
some
of
the
bills
to
on
the
gas
and
the
light
we're
asking
them
to
do
it.
C
They
say
they
can't
because
of
federal
regulation,
so
we're
trying
to
guilt
them
into
it.
So
we're
going
to
run
into
that
as
we
move
forward.
We
also
have
the
senior
save
program
which
replaces
eating
systems.
If
you
have
a
heating
system
in
your
house
and
in
your
and
it's
falling
apart
of
getting
old
and
you
know
chore
to
do
contact
the
City
of
Boston.
C
We've
had
I've
heard
so
many
stories
of
seniors
looking
to
replace
that
boiler
in
the
house,
and
they
call
the
city
of
Boston
not
expecting
a
lot
and
what
ends
up
happening
is
they
actually
pay
a
lot
of
money
to
to
replace
your
boiler
and
the
works?
Incredible
I
was
at
a
house
in
High
Park,
overly
over
the
summer
time,
where
a
gentleman
I
believe
was
88
years
old,
Korean
War
vet.
He
just
talked
to
Robbie
cansado
Robbie
came
to
the
house.
His
house
is
beautiful,
an
incredible
job,
putting
in
a
beautiful
new
boiler.
C
So
if
you
have
funeral
home
or
you
know,
somebody
lives
in
the
city-
contact
the
City
of
Boston
the
product,
the
program
is
there
for
you,
so
you
have
an
opportunity
to
do
that.
We
also
have
a
senior
home
repair
program
that
we're
able
to
help
600
house
households
last
year.
Senior
also
will
do
some
work.
They'll
pay
to
do
some
work
in
the
house
to
you,
so
there's
an
opportunity
to
have
to
as
well.
C
If
you
have
a
lead
pipe
coming
into
your
home,
they're
encouraging
people
to
change
it,
the
water
and
sewage
is
put
up.
I
think
it's
25
min
rolls
for
grants
for
you
to
be
able
to
come.
It's
a
long
time
granted.
This
is
basically
zero
interest.
So
these
little
these
nickel
and
dimes
2500
he
have
four
thousand.
Then
they
add
up
to
significant
money.
So
there
really
is
an
opportunity,
it's
there
for
you,
so
we
want
you
to
make
sure
that
you
take
advantage
of
these
different
programs.
C
C
We're
also
looking
at
a
couple
things:
senior
housing,
we're
looking
at
building
5000
units
in
your
senior
housing
in
in
the
in
the
city
of
Boston
by
the
a
2030
which
we're
in
the
process
right
now,
I'm
talking
to
some
senior
development.
It
seems
like
a
long
way
away,
but
it
takes
a
couple
years
to
get
going.
We're
working
and
making
sure
1500
of
those
units
are
affordable
for
people
that
don't
have
the
means
to
be
able
to
pay
for
it.
So
something
that
we're
going
to
work
on
as
well.
C
We
have
in
Boston
were
blessed.
We
have
a
very
young
population
with
the
youngest
city
per
capita
in
America,
which
means,
if
you
match
this
up
to
other
cities,
number
wise
for
the
youngest.
But
we
also
have
the
oldest
growing
population,
the
city.
So
we
start
until
make
sure
we
lay
down
the
foundation.
So
as
people
get
older
and
start
to
look
to
be,
you
live
independent
but
maybe
get
rid
of
the
house,
because
it's
too
big
we're
looking
to
make
sure
that
these
programs
in
place
for
you.
C
So
all
of
these
things
take
advantage
of,
and
if
you
live
in
a
building
this
stuff,
doesn't
you
can't
neither
the
supplies
yet?
But
you
have
a
friend
that
lives
in
you
know:
East
Boston,
on
Dorchester
or
somewhere
else.
Let
them
know
to
call
the
city
of
Boston
and
call
the
elderly
department,
because
I
double
the
Commission,
because
there's
a
lot
of
a
lot
of
good
things
happening
in
our
city,
so
I
just
want
to
thank
you
far
as
the
neighborhood
real
quick
update.
You
know
with
some
streets,
sidewalks
being
bent
ova.
C
I
know
there's
a
lot
of
complaints
of
our
different
streets
that
the
bricks
are
on
we're
working
on
doing
what
we
doing
some
renovation
right
now,
initiatives
a
whole
bunch
of
work
and
to
see
in
the
spring.
In
the
north
end,
it's
going
to
be
doing
some
streets.
All
the
sidewalks
over
we're
going
to
be
doing
all
that
sin
on
capital
budget.
Will
they
be
doing
that
stuff
we're
going
to
be
doing
the
park
down
the
street
over
the
prado
over
and
you're
doing
a
major
renovation?
C
You
know
in
some
cases,
taking
breaks
up
and
clean
them
off,
putting
them
back,
but
we're
going
to
be.
You
know
walkways
and
things
like
that.
We're
working
on
the
issue
of
the
Spalding
facility
down
the
street
I
know
that
some
of
your
friends
live
in
there
we're
working
with
them.
The
PRA
came
out
and
made
a
rule
wing
that
you
know
can
only
be
useful
for
the
use
in
ad
right
now.
So
there's
a
process
working.
C
I
know
that
the
representatives
been
working
with
some
came
up
with
some
neighborhood
folks
in
korea,
from
from
my
office
has
been.
On
top
of
that.
I
know
that
other
people
see
we
passed,
utilities
grandmother's
in
lives
in
there,
so
we're
working
on.
How
do
we?
How
do
we?
How
do
we
figure
out
what
to
do
short
term
long
term
with
that
facility
and
making
sure
that
you
know
sprawling
I,
think
they
I
think
they
got?
The
message
of
the
last
company
is
going
to.
C
They
know
what
the
community
is
very
interested
in
that
in
that,
what's
going
to
happen
in
the
future
there
so
I
want
to
thank
you
for
your
work.
They
just
thank
you
overall
for
the
great
work
you
do.
It's
an
honor
to
be
the
mayor
of
the
cities
on
it
to
the
elected
official.
In
this
city,
in
this
neighborhood
truly
is
a
special
neighborhood.
I
want
to
thank
you,
Commissioner
Evans.
You
know
we
talk
about
all
the
time.
The
captain
does
great
work
down
here
that
the
crime
is
zero.
C
The
neighborhood
I
love
the
fact
that
you
still
have
people
that
grew
up
in
this
neighborhood
living
in
this
table,
like
that,
doesn't
happen
in
a
lot
of
place
in
the
city.
So
I
want
to
thank
you,
those
of
you
that
might
have
grown
up
here
and
live
here
and
those
we
moved
in
50
years
ago
welcome
and
a
neighborhood
and
I'm
going
to
turn
the
microphone
over
now
to
a
city
council,
asylum,
I
Tina
will
bring
up
Joe
and
if
you
want
to
get
from
the
Commission
will
love
that
in
my
pair
as
well.
D
F
A
B
F
To
be
your
city
councilor,
but
as
the
mayor
mentioned,
there
are
a
lot
of
programs
for
the
seniors
on
me.
I'm
happy
they
go
build
more
housing
for
2030,
because
I'm
almost
at
that
age
to
be
significant
guys,
that's
not
a
few
years
away,
but
I
am
so
fortunate.
We
have
a
great
be
a
great
represented,
Aaron,
microwaves
and
I'll,
who
started
already
here.
Don't
want
quarry
all
working
together
for
the
doc
bed.
The
best
is
yet
to
happen.
F
G
G
American
household,
you
know
what
lands
and
my
grandmother
coming
here.
It
just
seems
like
family,
it's
a
great
neighborhood,
it's
a
great
neighborhood,
I'm
looking
up
to
represent,
along
with
your
state
representative,
Iron
Mike
at
which
has
been
so
great
as
soon
as
has
been
style,
I,
mattina,
bringing
me
in
and
making
me
part
of
their
family.
So
I
just
want
to
thank
them.
You
know
we're
really
lucky!
That's
great
mayor,
like
Marty
Walsh,.
G
That,
as
a
mayor
alluded
to
the
last
couple
of
weeks,
have
been
trying
for
another
part
of
the
city,
news
Boston,
where,
unfortunately,
two
offices
were
were
shot
and
they've,
been
recovering
and
am
happy
to
report
that
at
least
one
of
them
loud
the
hospital
in
the
others
in
stable
condition.
But
during
that
process,
I
go
the
great
pleasure
getting
to
know
the
Commissioner
of
all
complete
the
park
and
I
can
tell
you
he's
an
incredible
leader.
We're
so
lucky
in
Boston
have
the
best
best
police
department.
F
G
So
proud
of
this,
after
those
events,
have
occurred.
The
way
the
community
in
East
Boston
came
together
across
this
country
was
seeing
divisive,
miss
when
something
like
that
happens,
and
other
cities
across
the
nation,
but
not
in
East
Boston,
not
the
city
of
Boston,
the
community
along
the
police
department,
came
together
to
grow
as
a
community
and
its
really
a
testament
to
the
leadership
in
City
Hall,
but
of
course,
for
my
commission
of
mr.
Abney.
So
without
further
ado,
I.
E
Appreciate
it,
you
know,
lost
password
I
want
to
thank
the
man.
He
put
me
in
this
position.
He's
very
supportive
of
anything.
I
need,
no
I
think
it
was
unfortunate.
You
know
we
almost
lost
two
offices
last
week.
No
and
it's
I
think
it
shows
all
the
time
the
dangers
of
the
straw,
but
you
know
when,
when
they
got
hurt,
I
asked
for
everyone's
prayers
and
I.
Look
around
him.
Sure
I
got
a
lot
of
queer
data,
I
everybody's
here
so
on
behalf
of
my
department-
and
you
know
we're
here
for
you
anything
you
need.
B
D
D
A
You
know
they
were,
they
were
trying.
Spalding
has
been
trying
to
figure
out
what
to
do
and
what
to
go
forward
and
in
reality,
if,
if
the
mayor
didn't
step
up
and
the
VRA
didn't
step
up
and
hold
their
feet
to
the
fire
on
what
that
property
is
supposed
to
be,
you
know,
I,
don't
know
how
I
don't
know
how
long
they
were
going
to
stay
there,
but
now
we
have.
A
We
have
some
leverage
and
dealing
with
them
and
we're
working
on
trying
to
figure
out
what
to
do
with
that
going
forward,
but
that
wouldn't
be
happening.
You
know
and
I
say
this
whole,
hardly
without
the
mayor
support
and
without
the
with
us,
without
the
support
of
the
VRA,
so
our
Thank
You
mr.
mayor
for
your
work
on
that
any
one
of
the
piece
with
the
Commissioner
this
neighborhood,
we,
you
know
we
are
very
blessed
at
how
safe
it
is.
You
know
it
is.
It
is
one
of
the
safest
neighborhoods
in
the
city
cause.
We.
B
A
A
safe
we
live
in
one
of
the
safest,
metropolitan
major
metropolitan
cities
in
the
country,
but
I
would
argue
that
this
neighborhood
as
a
downtown
neighborhood,
is
the
safest,
downtown
neighborhood
out
of
any
major
metropolitan
city
in
the
entire
country.
You
go
to
all
these
other
cities
and
their
downtown's
have
a
lot
more
issues
dealing
with
them
than
what
we
face
here
in
in
the
north
end,
and
that
is
that
is
because
of
the
work
of
area,
a
captain,
Fong
and,
and
then
the
commissioners
work,
so
Thank
You,
commissioner,.
A
B
So
the
mayor
mentioned
lots
of
great
discounts
that
you
could
be
eligible
for.
I
just
want
to
talk
about
two
things
since
we're
in
october
two
more
things
it
is
Medicare
open
enrollment.
So
if
you
are
on
Medicare
and
you
think
you
might
be
paying
too
much
for
your
prescription
medications,
we
can
help
you
figure
out
what
the
best
plan
is
for
you,
Megan
in
my
office,
who,
just
who
is
a
trained
shine
counselor,
which
means
that
she's
been
trained
to
help.
B
You
look
at
your
Medicare
and
help
you
find
the
best
plan
for
you,
the
one
that
you
get
them
medications
you
me
but
you're
paying
the
least
amount
of
money.
So
if
you
need
help
with
that,
you
can
see
Megan,
it's
also
fall.
The
colder
weather
is
coming
november.
First
starts
fuel
assistance.
If
you
need
assistance
with
a
fuel
assistance
application,
we
also
can
help
you
at
the
elderly,
commission
and
one
final
thing.
The
mayor's
Italian
heritage
event
is
coming
up
on
friday,
November
eighteenth
and
the
Coast
Guard
base.
