From YouTube: Charlestown Pride Luncheon
Description
Mayor Walsh joins Commissioner of Elderly Affairs Emily Shea in celebrating Bunker Hill Day during the Charlestown Pride Senior Luncheon at the Knights of Columbus in Charlestown.
A
A
I
have
the
honor
and
the
pleasure
to
work
for
our
mayor,
Martin
J
Walsh,
so
it
is
a.
This
is
a
man.
You
all
know
the
mayor
he's
been
out
here
in
Charlestown
a
lot,
but
you
all
know
that
he's
a
man
that
is
very
committed
to
making
sure
that
everybody
has
the
opportunities
in
the
city
of
Boston,
that's
right
and
and
everybody,
including
our
older
adults.
Under
the
mayor
I,
he
just
launched
an
age-friendly
plan
for
the
city.
It's
awesome.
It's
ways
that
we're
going
to
improve
life
for
older
adults
in
the
city.
B
You
Emily
I
wonder
why
I
want
to
first
of
all
thank
Emily
and
a
nice
couple
tonight
surrounding
plus
the
elderly
Commission
all
the
people,
all
the
staff
who
do
an
incredible
job.
Thank
you
so
much
they
treat
they
treat
the
elderly
and
older,
older
Bostonians.
Incredible
and
I'll
tell
you
that
office,
it's
just
so
dedicated
to
making
sure
that
that
we
take
care
of
our
seniors
in
our
city.
So
I
want
to
thank
that
office.
I'm
not
going
to
talk
long
today
because
you
didn't
come
I,
don't
think
to
him!
B
Me
speak
if
you,
if
you
did
then
I'll
go
on
for
an
hour
and
a
half,
so
I
just
want
to
wish
everyone
a
very
happy
child
some
pride
week.
This
is
an
exciting
weekend,
chance,
town
to
start
off
a
little
rainy
Monday's
event
was
a
little
rainy.
Yesterday
last
night
was
a
little
rainy,
and
now
we
turned
it
around
so
the
sun's
out
today,
I
want
to
thank
the
elected
officials
that
were
here.
Michael
Flaherty
was
here,
but
he
had
to
head
off
to
the
City
Council.
B
They
have
votes
at
12,
o
clock,
so
entertain,
counsel,
Michael,
Flaherty,
salamati,
no
I'm,
not
sure
of
Salim
Athena
is
was
I
was
hearing
on,
but
there
are
two
candidates
running
to
replace
al
here
with
three
candidates.
Sorry,
sorry
Mike!
If
you
keep
making
a
mistake,
lady
Edwards
where's
Lydia
she
left
Margaret
if
from
East
Boston,
Thank,
You,
Margaret
and
Steven
from
the
North
End
was
here
so
I
just
want
to
end
the
day
left.
So
thank
you
for
being
here.
B
See
the
reason,
the
reason
why
I
brought
the
boat,
because
I
know
everyone
from
Charlestown
is
either
either
has
a
family
member,
a
cop
or
a
firefighter,
so
we
figured
we'd
cover
it
all
here
today.
I
want
to
thank
them
all
for
that
again.
I
just
want
to
thank
I
just
want
to
thank
all
of
you
for
the
great
work
and
for
allowing
me
the
opportunity
to
be
mayor
of
the
city
of
Boston.
This
is
this
is
an
exciting
week.
B
We
want
to
make
sure
that
you
have
all
the
services
and
things
you
need
make
sure
you,
you
ask
Emily
or
ask
one
of
the
staff
at
the
elderly
Commission
to
see
what
benefits
are
out
there.
I
know
I've
said
this
before,
but
we
have
tax
abatement
programs
for
seniors
to
reduce
your
taxes,
new
home.
We
have
water
and
sewer
abatement.
Everyone
who
owns
your
own
home
should
be
should
be
contacting
water
and
sewer.
There's
a
30%
reduction
in
your
water
bills
that
that's
available
to
you
right
now.
B
If
you
have
pipes
in
front
of
your
home
that
needs
fixing,
we
have.
We
have
rebates
that
to
work
on
that.
We've
worked
with
Comcast
to
get
a
lower
rate
for
Internet
and
stuff,
like
that,
so
we
just
make
sure
you
take
advantage
of
things
that
you
might
not
be
taking
advantage
of
and
as
somebody
from
the
elderly
Commission.
So
we
can
help
you,
because
every
penny
every
little
bit
helps
so
again.
Thank
you.
B
Now,
I
have
the
great
honor
of
introducing
it's
usually
the
other
way
around,
but
I
had
the
great
honor
of
introducing
somebody
who
who
is
just
a
representative
but
he's
also
a
state
representative
for
the
City
of
Boston.
He
works
on
all
kinds
of
important
issues,
he's
focusing
on
substitutes
and
drug
programs
and
trying
to
help
by
young
people
he's
involved
in
a
whole
bunch
of
other
programs.
Your
state
representative,
my
friend,
Danny
Ryan,.
C
Thank
You
Man
happy
bucket
hill
week.
I
do
have
to
run
out
to
vote.
That's
the
one
thing
I
have
to
do
that.
You
guys
pay
me
to
do
and
Wednesday
the
good
thing
with
Wednesdays.
Is
you
get
the
meeting
itself
most
of
today,
so
the
City
Council's
in
session
we're
in
session
the
two
cells
both
sent
Mia
text
to
make
sure
I
said
hello
for
themselves.
Domenico
your
state
senator
in
celle,
Matheny,
our
city,
councillor
and
I.
Just
like
I
said
the
happy
Bunker
Hill
then
I
just
wanted
well.
C
The
mayor's
here
very
briefly
touch
on
a
little
important
piece
of
government.
As
you
know,
back
in
2013
we
had
a
mayor's
race
and
we
also
had
a
casino
issue
in
Charlestown
and
is
all
elected
officials
and
candidates?
Try
to
nuance
the
casino
issue.
There
was
one
candidate
that
he
is.
The
answer
to
it
was
very
simple:
I
am
going
to
fight
to
protect
Charlestown.
It
wasn't
this
casino
that
casino
it
was
just
about
Charlestown,
and
that
was
mayor,
Marty
Walsh
and
because
of
his
work
in
the
work
of
my
predecessor
in
this
job.
C
Geno
clarity,
who
was
our
state
rep?
We
have
and
are
starting
to
disperse
the
1
million
dollars.
We
are
the
only
community
to
get
nonprofit
money
before
the
casino
opens
and
that's
because
of
the
work
and
Marty
keeping
his
promise
to
fight
for
Charlestown
and
that's
the
type
of
mayor
we
have
and
the
type
of
mirror
that
we're
going
to
reelect
because
he
is
on
the
ballot
in
November
and
I
just
want
to
get
that
little
piece
of
business
out
there
and
then
just
let's
get
back
to
dinner
and
have
a
happy
Bunker
Hill
week.
