From YouTube: Senior Party in the Park
Description
Mayor Walsh joins City Fresh CEO Sheldon Lloyd and Age Strong Commissioner Emily Shea in the annual Senior Party in the Park. For the past 15 years, the City of Boston's Age Strong Commission and City Fresh Foods have partnered to offer Boston's older adults an end of summer party at one of the city's parks.
A
A
Wow
you're
all
ready
for
a
party
right.
Yes,
what
a
crowd
we
have
here
today
so
excited
about
this
I'm,
so
we're
thrilled
to
have
everybody
here
today
for
folks
that
don't
know
me
I'm
Emily
Shay
from
the
aged
strong
Commission.
Thank
you!
That's
right.
We
changed
our
name
this
year.
We
are
no
longer
the
Commission
on
affairs
of
the
elderly.
We
are
now
the
aged,
strong
Commission
and
that's
how
that's
how
we,
each
here
in
Boston,
right,
we
age,
strong,
that's
right!
I
wanna,
give
a
big
shout
out
to
our
fabulous
partners.
A
A
Thank
You
City
fresh,
and
we
have
two
event
sponsors
here
today
we
have
seen
your
whole
house
and
or
actually
we
have
one
see
your
whole
help
they're
part
of
the
magellan
healthcare
group.
So
a
big
round
of
applause
for
senior
whole
house
and
I
know
we
have
emergency
management
going
around
to
the
tables
as
well.
It
is
emergency
preparedness
month
in
the
city
of
Boston.
We
know
that
big
things
can
happen
right,
like
hurricane
durian
that
just
hit
the
Bahamas,
so
we
want
to
make
sure
we're
all
prepared.
A
So
I
heard
that
on
Chiron
was
here
somewhere
going
around
the
table.
So
thanks
for
that,
Chiron
I
also
want
to
mention
before
I
hang
up
hang
up
before
I
turned
over
this
light.
I
want
to
mention.
We
do
have
an
age
strong,
Commission
table
out
there.
If
you
want
any
additional
information
about
our
Commission
and
about
what
we
do
in
the
community
and
different
ways
that
we
can
help
you
and
your
friends
out
there,
it
is
open
enrollment
for
Medicare
coming
up
on
October
15th.
A
So
if
folks
have
questions
about
open
enrollment,
that's
a
time
when
you
should
be
reviewing
your
prescription
plans,
you
can
go
out
to
our
table
out
there
and
Dee
Linda
can
help
you
now
I
said
that
we
can't
do
this
event
without
our
partners.
I'm
city,
fresh
food
and
Sheldon
have
been
working
with
us
for
so
many
years
at
the
Commission.
They
work
with
us
around
our
our
dining
sites.
In
the
city
we
have
47
dining
sites
that
you
can
go
to
and
get
a
free
meal
with
just
a
suggested
donation
of
$2.
A
But
if
you
don't
have
that
$2,
you
don't
have
to
give
it.
So
we
have
46
locations
where
you
can
do
that
and
they're.
Also
working
with
us
on
the
Meals
on
Wheels
program,
doing
home,
delivered
meals
to
folks
that
can't
get
out
of
their
homes
and
go
to
a
congregate
site,
go
to
a
dining
site,
I'm,
so
they're,
incredible
partners.
We
really
really
appreciate
them
so
I
want
you
to
join
me
in
giving
Sheldon
Lloyd
a
big
big.
Welcome,
come
on
up
here,
Sheldon.
B
All
right,
I
want
to
welcome
you
all
I
want
to
welcome
what
I
consider
to
be
the
most
special
Bostonians
here
in
this
room
or
this
tent,
and
you
all
really
helped
build
this
city,
so
I
don't
want.
We
don't
want
to
forget
that
who
built
this
city-
and
we
all
know
the
city-
is
changing
right,
a
lot
of
change,
but
we're
steady
and
we're
still
here
so
I
want
to
thank
the
mayor.
I
want
to
thank
aged
strong,
Commission
and
I
want
to
thank
the
volunteers
that
are
running
around
here
today.
I.
B
B
B
B
C
Well,
let
me
just
say
this
is
like
one
of
the
happiest
parties
that
we
have
in
the
city
of
Boston
every
year,
except
for
that
one
year
that
you
yell
poppy
for
the
box
lunches,
but
other
than
that
it
was
a
great
great
time
how
about
a
nice
round
of
applause
for
Sheldon
Lloyd
has
been
doing.
This
for
15
is
City
fresh
food,
a
boston-based
company.
C
They
have
over
150
employees
and
they
were
one
of
the
first
companies
in
mess
in
Massachusetts
to
automatically
make
sure
that
everyone
gets
the
$15
before
the
minimum
wage
went
to
affect
him.
They
truly
care
for
their
employees,
they're
based
in
Roxbury.
They
were
busted,
born
and
bred
busting.
So
thank
you,
Sheldon
and
City
fresh
food
for
all
your
great
work,
I.
C
Want
to
thank
Emily
Shay
and
eight,
the
aged
strong
Commission,
Emily
I
had
a
great
round
of
applause
and
all
the
all
the
staff
that's
here,
and
they
smell
applause
for
my
staff
and
eight
strong
I
want
to
take
our
Police
Department.
That's
always
here.
Every
year,
Thank
You
Boston
Police
on
community
service
for
the
great
work
that
they
join
and
working
on
building
relationships.
We're
also
joined
by
one
of
my
district,
one
of
our
citywide
city,
councilors
and
nice.
C
Rossabi
George
is
here
with
us
who
is
a
strong,
strong
supporter
of
the
aged
strong
Commission,
but
also
of
the
kids
and
the
homeless.
Folks
in
our
communities
doing
some
great
work
and
we
have
the
state
representative
from
the
State
House
from
man
appeared
Dorchester
in
pots
of
Rossdale
Russell,
Wong's,
Thank,
You
representative.
C
C
Coming
and
now
I
was
warned
tweet
with
with
the
dedicated
investment
over
seven
million
dollars
into
design
and
study
in
the
park,
so
that
we
can
build
a
brand
new
around
a
park
for
the
community
so
that
evenness
not
to
see
that
happening
still
we're
working
on
it.
We're
doing
the
plans
we're
talking
about
it.
Now.
We
also
invested
five
hundred
thousand
in
renovation
right
here
at
Malcolm
X
Park,
twenty
eight
million
dollars
into
Franklin
Park.
C
C
I'm,
just
gonna
I'm
not
going
to
talk
too
long,
there's
a
lot
of
crazy
stuff
going
on
to
politics
right
now,
but
here
at
this
video
Boston
we're
going
to
continue
to
move
forward
with
building
affordable
housing,
but
working
on
senior
housing,
we're
working
on
all
those
issues,
and
we
want
to
make
sure
I
want
to
thank
all
of
you
in
this
tent
today,
because
all
of
you
are
the
reason
why
Boston
is
a
city
in
this
today,
the
crazy
it
is
today
because
you
raise
your
families
here,
you
invest
in
here.
You
came
here.
