From YouTube: Age Strong Americorps 2022
Description
Each year, the Americorps Seniors Volunteer Recognition Luncheon acknowledges the selfless volunteers that lift up and support their communities. For more than 50 years, the volunteers of the RSVP and Senior Companion programs have worked to assist the residents of Boston. Mayor Wu joins with the Age Strong Commission to help honor and thank the volunteers for their service to Boston's seniors.
A
B
B
Thank
you
and
I
tell
you.
We
are
here
today
to
celebrate
you
right.
So
give
yourselves
a
big
round
of
applause.
Oh
my
gosh,
we
are,
we
are
just.
We
are
so
honored
at
the
city
of
Boston
to
be
able
to
manage
these
Americorps
seniors
programs
and
to
have
all
of
you
as
our
volunteers,
because
you
know
that
volunteers
make
our
city
stronger
right.
B
Our
volunteers
have
served
9
000
hours
over
the
past
year.
Yeah
raise
your
hand
if
you're
an
RSVP
volunteer,
get
those
hands
raised,
High,
9,
000
hours,
pretty
amazing
stuff
all
right.
So
you
have
you
you,
you
all
know
what
you
do,
but
and
I
know
what
everyone
does.
So
we
had
to
do
a
lot
of
Shifting
in
RSVP
right
because
some
we
couldn't
do
some
of
the
stuff
we
used
to
do
and
some
of
the
programs
have
changed
because
of
the
pandemic.
B
But
volunteers
have
done
a
lot
of
connecting
with
more
with
isolated,
older
adults.
So
thank
you
for
that.
That's
really
critical!
You've
done
a
lot
of
teleservice
calls.
You've
delivered
food
to
folks
in
our
still
homebound
right
and
you've
continued
to
provide
much
needed.
B
Companionship,
Services,
simple
tax
returns,
you're
doing
so
much
you're
doing
so
many
different
things
out
there
I
don't
think
I
can
list
them
all,
but
oh
money,
smart
workshops,
so
many
things,
oh
my
gosh
and
then
the
senior
companions
doing
things
like
medical
escorts,
assisting
with
daily
living
tasks
providing
companionships
and
the
gift
of
respite
to
caregivers
senior
companions
have
delivered
over
25
000
hours
of
service,
that's
right
in
the
past
year,
25
000
hours.
So
that's
a
lot
of
service.
B
You
should
Pat
yourselves
on
the
back
very,
very
nice,
so
we
would
not
be
able
to
do
that
without
our
volunteers
here
today
and
also
without
our
sights
right.
We
have
a
number
of
our
sites
here
today,
because
I
know
a
lot
of
you
are
stationed
at
volunteer
stations
in
the
community
and
so
I'm
gonna
list
out
the
sites
that
we
thought
were
coming
today.
I
think
I
think
a
lot
of
these
are
here.
B
We
have
ABCD
Dorchester,
Roxbury,
ABCD,
Parker,
Hill,
Fenway,
Central,
Boston,
Elder,
Services,
Greater,
Boston,
Chinese,
Golden,
Age
center
Brigham
and
Women's
Hospital,
the
Golden
Age
center,
the
Caribbean
Foundation
of
Boston,
and
also
the
Salvation
Army.
So
thank
you
so
much
to
our
sites,
oh
and
Keystone,
Keystone.
A
B
Know
I
know
we
have
a
lot
more
sites
than
that
I
think
we
were.
We
were
listing
kind
of
the
sites
that
we
knew
we
had
staff
from
here
today,
but
we
know
we
have.
We
have
so
many
sites
out
there
so
and,
and
then
my
last
thank
you
is
I
really
want
to
thank
our
volunteer
team,
because
you
know
that
you
know
none
of
this
happens
without
those
folks
to
help
coordinate
it
right.
So
please
yeah
and
team.
B
All
right
now
it
is
my
pleasure
and-
and
you
know
that
I
have
been
I've
been
so
lucky
right,
I've
been
very,
very
lucky
to
work
with
some
fantastic
Mayors
and
I
have
to
say
that
this
mayor
is
no
different
she's.
So
smart-
and
you
know
you
know
what
I
love
is
when
someone
can
fix
a
problem
right,
not
everyone
can
fix
a
problem,
not
everyone,
not
everyone
can
fix
a
problem,
but
I
love,
mayor
Wu
because
she
likes
to
get
in
there
and
she
likes
to
fix
the
problems.
C
So
Emily
is
everywhere.
She
makes
sure
that
in
every
neighborhood
and
every
Community
we're
getting
the
services
out
and
we're
keeping
the
connections
strong,
even
as
it's
been
difficult
during
the
pandemic,
and
you
all
are
our
biggest
resource
in
doing
that,
and
so
today
is
about
saying
thank
you
to
you
in
addition
to
Emily
and
myself
and
and
all
the
teams
we're
also
joined
by
our
I,
still
think
relatively
new.
C
Although
we've
been
at
this
for
a
little
while
now,
but
our
chief
of
Human
Services,
Jose,
maso,
Chief,
matso
everywhere
as
well,
the
cabinet
that
he
runs
really
spans
all
the
ways
in
which
the
city
directly
connects
with
people.
So
our
commission
age,
strong
commission,
our
Boston
Center
for
Youth
and
Families
Our,
Library
System
everything
where
people
get
connected
to
the
services
they
deserve
and
I'm
just
blown
away
by
some
of
the
numbers
that
commissioner
Shea
was
talking
about
thousands
and
thousands
of
hours.
That's
why
I!
Never!
C
Whenever
someone
tells
me
oh
I'm,
retiring
or
I'm
retired
I,
never
believe
it.
You
all
stay
busy.
You
all
stay
involved
in
the
community
and
we
are
so
grateful
for
all
that.
You've
done
not
only
throughout
your
careers
and
lives
and
families
that
you've
raised
and
communities
that
you've
built
up,
but
now
giving
back
even
more
and
making
sure
that
in
this
difficult
time,
little
kids,
like
my
two
boys,
have
someone
to
look
up
to
or
seniors
like.
My
mom
has
someone
who
can
keep
them
company
who
can
make
their
lives
a
little
bit
easier.
C
That
idea
of
how
can
we
be
here
to
help
with
whatever
someone
needs?
Even
if
we
don't
have
the
answer
having
a
friendly
face,
a
familiar
and
trusted
relationship,
there
means
that
we
can
connect
them
to
what
they
need
to
to
be
able
to
fix
the
broken
heating
system
or
get
their
grandchild
a
summer
camp
placement
or
get
the
food
delivered.
That
will
make
sure
that
they
can
continue
thriving
in
our
communities.
C
We
couldn't
do
that
without
you,
and
so
I've
been
seeing
some
very
glamorous
outfits
today
for
our
special
event,
I
hope
to
see
it.
Everyone
in
the
photo
booth,
so
you
can
go
home
with
some
of
the
reminders
and
memorabilia
from
today.
It's
just
for
a
very
teeny
tiny.
Thank
you
to
say.
We
see
you,
we
couldn't
do
this
without
all
of
your
help
and
we
need
your
help
moving
forward
because
there's
still
a
whole
lot
of
work
for
all
of
us
to
do
together.
Thank
you.
So
much
for
your
service
and
your
leadership.
B
Wonderful,
thank
you.
So
much
mayor
and
and
I
have
a
couple
more
thank
yous
I
want
to
thank
Mary
Lee.
Where
is
Mary?
Oh
there
she
is
hi
Mary.
So
so,
if
folks
haven't,
if
folks
haven't
had
a
chance
to
say
hi
to
Mariette,
Mary
is
our
Americorps
program
officer
and
I
might
have
gotten
that
a
little
bit
incorrect
did
I
get
that
right,
a
portfolio
manager.
They
have
very
fancy
titles
at
Americorps,
so
our
portfolio
manager.
B
So
she
helps
us,
make
sure
we're
staying
on
track
with
all
of
our
impact
measures
and
like
making
sure
that
the
people
in
Washington
know
the
great
things
that
you're
doing
out
there
in
the
community
and
then
I
also
want
to
give
a
very
big
shout
out
and
thank
you
to
Von
on
D
for
having
us
here
right.
We
love
lawn
on
D
and
it's
so
beautiful
outside
that
that,
after
this
I
think
you
have
a
choice
of
dancing
or
swinging.
B
So
that's
a
pretty
good
choice
and
then
also
to
the
rest
of
my
age,
strong
team
here,
helping
with
this
event.
So
thanks
everybody
all
right
all
right.
Let's
get
back
to
the
party.
A
Yes,
ma'am.
Thank
you
so
much
I
just
want
to
say
thank
you
all
for
being
here
today
and
two
more
shout
outs
to
Sebastian's
catering
for
the
amazing
food
today.
A
A
A
Sorry
she
would
kill
me
if
I
didn't
do
this.
Lastly,
to
Paul
good
night
at
the
end,
when
you
leave,
there
will
be
some
really
nice
photo
prints,
you're
going
to
get
those
were
donated
by
Paul
goodnight.
So
make
sure
you
please
stop
by
the
table
on
your
way
out
and
get
one
okay.
