From YouTube: Senior LGBT Pride Luncheon 2017
Description
Happy Pride Week Dorchester seniors! Mayor Walsh attends the annual LGBT senior luncheon and offers remarks on the city's commitment to equality, healthy aging, and inclusivity for all LGBT seniors.
A
A
A
Good
afternoon,
everyone,
my
name,
is
Dale
Mitchell
and
I
am
the
executive
director
of
ethos,
which
is
one
of
the
very
proud
sponsors
of
this
senior
prime
much
of
the
only
one
that
I
know
that
are
going
on
in
Massachusetts.
We're
very,
very
happy
to
sponsor
this
with
the
video
boston,
and
I
hope
you
all
enjoy
your
day
very,
very
much.
A
It
is
a
great
honor
to
be
a
part
of
this
and
to
see
I
don't
know
how
many
years
we've
been
doing
this,
or
maybe
ten
I'm,
not
quite
sure,
because
it
five
years
we've
only
been
doing
this
for
five
years,
but
every
single
year
it
grows.
It
gets
bigger
and
now
we're
completely
full
up.
I,
don't
know
what
we're
going
to
do
it
outside
a
bigger
space,
but
one
of
the
most
wonderful
things
about
this
is
to
see
so
many
new
faces
every
year
here
and
it
appeared
in
year
out.
A
Thank
you
all
for
being
a
part
of
that
community
and
thank
you
so
much
for
letting
us
be
a
part
of
it
with
you.
There
are
a
number
of
people
per
glucose
and
I
would
like
to
acknowledge
and
congratulate,
and
thanks
for
their
support
and
I'm,
not
going
to
go
through
all
of
the
names
except
I'm
going
to
single
out
one
who
is
hiding
disease,
he
relishes
being
in
the
background.
But
please
give
a
round
of
applause
for
the
ethos.
Staff
person
who
really
organized
this
whole
thing.
A
C
All
of
you
up
so
I
am
so
happy
you're
all
here
today.
This
is
one
of
our
favorite
events
of
the
elderly
Commission's.
We
what
we
get
to
do
this
event
with
ethos
are
partnered,
and
we
are
so
happy
that
you
are
all
here
to
join
us
today.
So
and
so
thanks
very
much
for
coming.
I
want
to
mention
a
couple
of
our
sponsors,
because
we
know
events
like
this
are.
We
can
really
can't
do
them
without
sponsors.
C
C
I
am
will
describe
I,
don't
have
a
boss
and
a
mayor
who
prioritizes
making
our
city
inclusive
for
all
people
into
the
family
knows
that
we
are
stronger
together
and
a
man
that
really
cares
about
equality
working
in
the
elderly
Commission.
We
follow
his
example
because
we
have
is
open
and
accessible
and
inclusive
Department
for
all,
and
we
work
in
an
inclusive
City
for
all,
so
I'm
really
grateful
to
be
in
that
kind
of
an
atmosphere
and
I'd
like
you
to
all
join
me
in
a
very
warm
welcome
for
mayor
wall.
D
And
we
have
ankle
in
order
to
stand
out
to
enjoy
himself.
How
are
you
about
that?
I
wonder
what
I
want
a
personal
thing:
Emily
Shay
in
the
entire
staff
at
the
elderly
Commission?
They
do
some
incredible
work
in
our
city
every
single
day
for
our
seniors
and
it's
important
for
us
as
we
continue
to
move
our
city
forward,
that
we
continue
to
strengthen
our
ugly
Commission.
So
thank
you
to
the
element
to
Emily
and
to
the
entire
staff
of
the
Commission
I
want
to
thank
you.
D
Hill
talked
about
him
not
being
the
most
important
personal,
important
people,
there's
not
many
more
important
people
in
what
Dale
has
done
and
dedicated
spiritual
ethos,
and
it's
stuff
that
he's
done.
Ksenia
citizen
in
our
city,
in
what
he
does
done
for
senior
citizens
in
our
city
in
our
state
and
I,
want
to
thank
the
on
the
entire
staff
here
because
of
the
great
work
you
do
back
when
I
was
a
state
representative,
you
know
egos
didn't
do
auto.
D
Worker
George
Stewart
was
mostly
Kate,
Clark
and
Dorchester,
but
I
understood
firsthand
the
importance
of
having
having
senior
kea
on
having
programs
to
senior
citizens
and
in
this
event
that
we
came
to.
This
is
my
fourth
time
here,
and
my
first
time
was
was
four
years
ago
and
I
was
a
candidate
from
there,
and
it
was
actually
probably
that
day
I
think
there
was
twelve
starting
off
together
and
I
think
at
least
ten
teams
and
we're
all
trying
to
make
the
home
special
we'll
mention
the
room
to
try
and
get
support.
D
I,
don't
want
leave
the
podium
on
line
when
we
get
to
the
podium
how's.
That
is,
that
better,
okay,
but
I
just
wanted
again
just
wish
everyone
a
happy,
Pride,
Week
I
want
to
thank
and
the
elected
officials
had
overdressed.
Today
we
have
two
two
incredible
elected
officials
of
Scotland
now
Malik
first
and
it
was
going
to
speak
in
a
Medford
City
Councilman
O'malley
this
year
and
see
well
actually
legend
City
Hall.
There
was
some
conversation
about
the
transgender
rights
bill
that
was
making
its
way
to
the
legislature
in
that
time
was.
D
My
obviously
is
a
huge
supporter
of
that
bill,
and
so
many
other
things,
but
what
we
did
the
city
when
you
talk
to
Matt
talk
to
other
talk,
shows,
and
we
said
we're
going
to
notify
the
trench
into
play.
Well,
the
first
thing
we
did,
which
we
talked
about
on
seven
days,
office,
gender-neutral,
and
that
was
important.
He
returned
right.
D
Turn
and
respond
so
public
that
the
bottom
inside
of
Angela
gender-neutral,
so
that
we
sent
a
very
strong
message
and
then
we
fill
the
trench
ender
flag
and
we're
able
to
find
that
flag,
and
so
the
legislation
to
pass
and
in
the
legislation
ticket
passed
something
that
happened
in
our
office
in
the
last
couple
of
months
was
they
had
a
scheduler
in
my
office.
His
name
is
out,
and
he
came
to
me
and
he
talked
to
me
about
that.
It's
growing
up.
D
D
Taught
about
explanation
that
to
me
30
years
ago,
was
the
heck
of
a
lot
differently,
2017
and
and
and
many
of
you,
this
room
know
that
all
of
you
most
of
you
in
this
room,
know
that,
and
you
know
the
struggles
that
you
went
to
when
they
were
struggles
and
over
the
last.
You
know,
16
17
years
here
in
Massachusetts
satting,
with
a
vote
on
marriage
equality,
I
talked
about
a
we
come
and
get
the
microphone,
because
it's
that
important
vote
in
that
vote
was
was
somebody.
D
He
did
have
folk
came
down.
I
would
my
phone
number
the
office
of
72
228?
The
data
bow
came
down
number,
both
the
data.
That
ruling
came
down
the
Masters
report
immediately.
People
are
talking
about
reversing
that
DOMA
was
talked
about
and
one
of
the
first
comp
I
receivers
from
was
mine
and
she
said
they
need
you
in
this
book.
I
need
to
do
with
me.
I
need
you're.
D
Staying
with
me,
I
really
need
to
help
and
I
know
it's
going
to
be
tough
field
and
chewing
on
and
I
said
no
talking
on
the
telephone
with
you
and
we're
said
that
we
would
leave.
We
built
a
team,
we
build,
it
seems
to
support
marriage
equality,
and
this
year
we
were
able
to
work
with
the
legislature.
To
pax
again
was
mind.
Doing
this,
ask
the
transgender
rights,
Ville
and
I.
Think
that
and
I've
said
this
before.
These
are
important
landmarks
and
the
thing
that
makes
us
all
proud
of
it
is
it
happening
Massachusetts.
D
And
that
happened
in
2004
in
2004
we
had
a
Republican
president
and
we
had
a
Republican
governor
and
we're
able
to
protect
marriage
equality
in
2004
we
had
a
Republican
president.
We
have
a
Republican
governor
and
we're
able
to
bring
universal
health
insurance
to
every
resident
Massachusetts.
So
when
people
start
to
think
about
what's
happening
in
the
net
Washington
scene
right
now,
I'm
getting
concerned
about
it
and
getting
worried
about
the
future
of
our
country.
Think
about
we
have
struggles
before
you
had
struggle
before
people
who
are
ever
before.
D
We
will
get
through
this
time
as
Americans.
We
will
make
sure
you
will
enjoy
decisive
elected
officials
like
Adam
alleys
and
Liz,
my
and
other
people
that
we're
going
to
work
to
protect
people's
rights
Bulworth
and
make
sure
people
have
health
insurance,
we're
going
to
work
to
protect
our
environment
and
our
climate.
Look
at
the
words
to
protect
all
those
things.
So,
no
matter
what
policies
come
down
over
the
course
of
the
next
three
and
a
half
years,
we're
still
going
to
go
forward
or
not
halt
secure.
D
A
So
it
is
now
my
great
honor
and
pleasure
to
introduce
to
you
I'm
going
to
get
in
trouble
by
being
go
this
year,
my
favorite
person
in
the
Massachusetts
State
House
somebody
that
I
have
known
for
a
long
time.
We
hug
we're
now
getting
old
together,
which
is
a
wonderful
thing
right.
We
are
now
getting
old
together.
Please
join
me
in
welcoming
one
of
our
own
state
representative,
Liz
bone.
E
B
E
E
C
E
D
E
A
B
F
Hope
to
such
an
honor
could
be
with
all
of
you
today.
My
ninja
battle
valley
project
in
a
district
650
houses
are
representing
Jamaica
Plain,
what's
wrong,
very
a
little
bit
of
raw
Dale
fat
Commission,
hell
I
live
in
Roxbury
as
well,
and
I.
Just
really
wanted
to
come
by
to
show
my
support
for
the
incredible
work.
The
men
and
women
of
ethos
do
each
and
every
day,
Dale
Mitchell
is
a
quarterback
that
uses
incredible.
F
Team
of
staff
board
members
as
well
and
I
did
also
want
to
know
that
a
veto
family
lost
an
incredibly
dedicated
board
member
for
many
many
years.
Mary
welcome,
Jacobson
joy
know
we
can
all
feel
with
us
today.
She
wants
to
battle
cancer
a
couple
weeks
ago,
but
he
folks
has
done
such
great
work.
Making
sure
that
often
is
continues
to
thrive
and
not
only
with
the
work
of
the
LGBT
AZ
project,
but
with
aging.
Well,
it's
hard
with
so
many
other
organizations
and
credible
organization
that
we
are
so
proud
to
support
and.
F
Some
of
the
words
that
were
said
by
my
two
previous
speakers
and
I
consider
myself
incredibly
lucky
to
work
each
and
every
day
with
committed,
passionate
and
tireless
leaders.
Like
our
mayor,
Martin
Walsh,
like
our
state
travel,
is
inelia.
They
are
leaders,
they
are
mentors.
They
are
friends
to
me
and
I'm,
so
grateful.
F
And
finally,
you
know
different
world
now
than
it
was
the
last
time
we
got
here
before
last
year's
cried,
the
world
has
changed.
There
is
turmoil,
there
is
transitioning
government,
particularly
it
hidden
that
at
the
national
level
in
Washington
DC,
but
the
one
thing
that
sure
that
keeps
me
going
in
this
job
and
we
should
keep
all
of
us
going,
is
if
we
live
in
the
greatest
city
in
the
world
in
the
greatest
state
of
the
world
and
even
sure
that,
no
matter
what
you
look
like,
who
you
love,
what
things
would
you
speak?
F
A
A
And
I
want
to
introduce
formally
our
newest
team
member
who
is
coordinating
our
newest
cafe
for
those
of
you
who
don't
know,
this
ethos
opened
its
fifth
LGBT
cafe
a
couple
of
months
ago,
and
it
is
our
first
cafe
that
is
friendly
for
LGBT
elders
of
color,
and
it
is
called
Kat
and
prompt,
and
please
join
me
in
welcoming
the
coordinator
in
the
leader
of
that
cafe
and
that
effort
and
that
outreach
event.
Community
buildings
activities.
A
That's
a
really
problem,
so
I
think
that
is
all
we
have
for
the
call
wait
a
minute
enough
something
opposite:
Elena,
there's
something
about
rapidly.
If
there's
something
about
maybe
on
the
honeycomb,
the
centerpieces
but
I,
don't
I,
don't
quite
know
all
the
details.
I'll
have
to
get
back
to
all
of
that.
