Believe it or not, it's been 10 years since Bluebikes first pedaled into the streets of Greater Boston. With over 4,000 bikes serving 400 stations across the cities and towns of Boston, Brookline, Cambridge, Somerville, Everett and Salem, the publicly-owned Bluebikes system has become an integral part of the area's transportation ecosystem. Mayor Janey joined local municipal leaders in Copley Square to mark the occasion by unveiling a special 10 year commemorative bicycle designed by young local artists.

Mayor Walsh joins community leaders to celebrate the expansion of Blue Bikes to Mattapan. This program is an affordable, healthy and fun form of public transport, and will now be available to even more people in Boston.

Blue Cross-Blue Shield, is now the sponsor of metro Boston's public bike share system. At City Hall Plaza, Mayor Walsh, Somerville Mayor Joseph Curtatone, and Cambridge Mayor Mark McGovern launch the new sponsorship on National Bike to Work Day.

Mayor Walsh celebrates the launch of ten new Hubway bike stations in East Boston. The mayor was joined by Commissioner of Transportation Gina Fiandaca at Maverick Square to ceremoniously dock the new bikes.

Mayor Walsh welcomes over 4,500 registered riders to the 12th annual Hub on Wheels, the largest sporting event produced by the city and the signature event of the Mayor's Boston Bikes initiative. The ride starts at City Hall Plaza and takes participants all across the many neighborhoods of Boston.
