Dawn Redwoods are a rare and magnificent tree which date back to prehistoric times. In September, the Arnold Arboretum gifted 10 Dawn Redwoods to the City of Boston. This week, Mayor Wu gathered with the Parks Department to plant the inaugural Redwood at the Richard J Murphy School in Dorchester.

Urban Improv is an innovative program embedded across seven different Boston Public Schools, which uses scenes, songs and discussions to explore social and emotional learning curriculum. Mayor Wu stopped by the Richard Murphy school in Dorchester to see a performance in action.

The Age Strong Commission hosted its annual picnic in the Melnea A. Cass Recreation Center. Joined by Mayor Michelle Wu, Age Strong commissioner Emily Shea, and City Fresh Foods CEO Sheldon Lloyd, the picnic celebrates the efforts of Age Strong and its members.

Mayor Wu, Senator Lydia Edwards, and Massport officials speak at a groundbreaking event celebrating a new addition to Piers Park in East Boston.

Oasis on Ballou is an urban agriculture project that helps bring fresh produce to the surrounding community. Mayor Wu and US Dept. of Agriculture Deputy Secretary Jewel Bronaugh were given a tour of the Dorchester based farm.

Mayor Wu presents to the Boston Community with a renovated playground for residents of all ages to enjoy and congregate at. The Edward McCarthy Playground in Charlestown had its ribbon cutting after the completion of many exciting improvements.

In July 1990 the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was signed into law, expanding and protecting the rights of people with disabilities. The ADA has improved the lives of people with disabilities immensely, and that is worth celebrating! Join the City of Boston in celebrating the 32nd anniversary if the ADA passing.

August 24th marks the 31st Anniversary of the Independence of Ukraine, as well as the six-month anniversary of the war between Russia and Ukraine. Join in as the Ukrainian flag is raised over City Hall Plaza, marking a solidarity between Bostonians and the people of Ukraine who have added so much to our city through their culture, work ethic, and spirit over the past 150 years.

Welcome to the new and improved Mission Hill Park! Mayor Michelle Wu and Boston Parks Commissioner Ryan Woods joined residents on August 5 for the official reopening of Mission Hill Playground at 60 Smith Street. The playground renovation features a full basketball court, ADA compliant pathways, improvements to the water spray area, and much more!

In the Savin Hill neighborhood of Dorchester, expansive renovations of McConnell Park now include new sports fields, a playground, improved accessibility and climate resiliency throughout the facility. Mayor Wu, elected officials, and residents of Boston gathered in Hyde Park to break ground on The Pryde, Boston's first LGBTQ-friendly housing development for older Bostonians. When complete, the renovations of the former Barton Rogers School (built in 1899) will create more than 10,000 square feet of community space and 72 new mixed-income rental units that will be welcoming to residents 62 and older.

The EPA has just allocated $500 million in rebate funds to help school districts nationwide with the transition from diesel to electric schools buses. The Boston Public Schools plan to have fully converted to zero-emmission electric buses by 2030. Mayor Wu is joined with EPA Deputy Administrator Janet McCade, elected officials, and BPS students and staff at New Mission High School in Hyde Park for this announcement.
