From YouTube: Mayor Michelle Wu's Address to City Workers - 2/15/22
Description
At 9:30AM on February 15, 2022, Mayor Michelle Wu will address all City of Boston workers to touch base, give an update from her administration, and share her plans for the coming weeks.
We invite you to join us!
A
Good
morning,
everyone,
I'm
so
excited
to
see
you
all
today.
I
hope
you
had
a
lovely
valentine's
day
yesterday.
We
are
back
for
our
second
now,
second
monthly
broadcast
to
all
employees
and
all
staff
at
the
city
of
boston.
To
thank
you
most
of
all
for
all
of
your
incredible
work.
A
Actually
it
goes
a
little
over
a
month
from
january
up
until
this
point,
so
just
this
year
in
2022.
So
far,
we've
had
I've
had
the
honor
to
swear
in
so
many
new
parts
of
our
city
government,
which
have
gotten
right
to
work.
The
city
council,
of
course,
87
boston
police
academy,
recruits
looking
forward
to
spending
some
time
with
the
fire
department
for
their
graduation
soon
as
well.
A
A
Just
last
week,
we
together
the
boston
public
health
commission,
the
operations
cabinet,
even
the
fire
department,
pitching
in
to
help
with
tents
in
the
cold,
expanded
testing
sites
and
vaccination
clinics
across
the
city
of
boston,
and
we
saw
our
numbers
go
up
with
that,
and
we
saw
us
the
city
come
out
of
our
omicron
surge
even
faster.
Because
of
all
of
your
incredible
work.
We
were
able
to
celebrate
some
new
beginnings
as
well.
A
Welcome
and
thank
you
to
frank
farrow,
who
is
our
new
director
of
the
office
of
blackmail
advancement,
who
will
be
now
managing
and
directing
the
process
to
fill
the
21
seats
on
the
commission
for
black
men
and
boys.
We
had
such
an
incredible
event.
Launching
that
at
the
bowling
building,
thank
you
so
much
to
everyone.
Who's
been
involved
with
mass
and
cass
and
ongoing
efforts.
A
There
not
only
are
the
150
plus
former
residents
of
the
encampments
and
tents
at
mass
and
cass,
now
still
housed
in
new
low
threshold,
supportive
housing
that
was
created,
but
we
saw
now
in
multiple
cold
snaps
blizzards
weather,
just
how
important
it
was
that
that
happened
and
that
people
are
safe
warming
off
the
streets.
Thank
you
so
much
for
everyone.
Who's
been
involved
with
that
to
ensure
transparency
of
the
boston
police
department
and
participation
and
engagement
with
our
with
our
community
members,
we
have
appointed
members,
the
civilian
review
board
and
the
internal
affairs
oversight
panel.
A
Thank
you
so
much
to
commissioner
long
and
bpd
for
being
part
of
that
process
as
well.
We've
expanded
food
access
by
supporting
snap,
the
for
any
residents
with
snap
benefits
can
now
use
that
for
online
purchases
and
delivery,
thanks
to
partnerships
with
our
local
non-profit,
the
daily
table
and
shout
out
to
the
office
of
food
access
for
coordinating
that
making
that
happen,
we
are
welcoming.
Officially,
our
new
chief
of
staff,
tiffany
chu,
has
begun
transitioning
and
just
stepped
into
city
hall
yesterday
into
the
job.
A
We're
also
hiring
still
for
chief
of
planning
green
new
deal
advisor
chief
of
information
chief
of
human
services,
so
we
need
your
help
spreading.
The
word.
We've
made
a
12
million
dollar
investment
in
broadband
access
through
public
housing
and
through
boston,
public
schools
for
our
students.
Thank
you
so
much
to
the
cable
office
and
do
it
and
everyone
who's
been
making
that
happen.
A
In
partnership
with
senator
markey's
office,
we've
hosted
virtual
job
fairs
across
so
many
departments,
age,
strong
environment
operations,
parks
and
rec
op,
bps,
bfd,
bphc
we're
so
we're
building
out
the
team
in
a
lot
of
ways
and
making
sure
we're
doing
so
by
bringing
boston
residents
directly
in.
We
have
kicked
off
community
budget
listening
sessions.
A
A
A
We
have
filed
legislation
to
generate
even
more
resources
for
affordable
housing
to
back
up
the
incredible
work
that
chief
dylan
and
everyone
in
the
office
of
housing
has
been
doing,
and
I
can't
stress
enough
probably
the
most
feedback.
I've
gotten
in
this
new
role
has
been
after
our
weather
incidents,
a
historic
blizzard
ice
that
was,
after
a
flash,
freeze,
cold,
cold,
cold
after
60
degree
days,
and
so
thank
you
so
much
to
our
public
works
team
to
everyone.
A
I've
got
to
spend
some
time
with
al
up
in
the
transportation
department's
traffic
management
center
and
and
to
see
him
there
monitoring
all
the
screens.
Our
response
to
snow
and
to
weather
has
been
absolutely
amazing
and
inspiring.
So
I
am
so
honored
to
be
here
with
you
all
to
be
building
out
our
team
to
be
getting
even
more
done
out
in
our
neighborhoods
and
I'll
pass
it
over
to
someone
who's
been
involved
with
a
lot
of
that
chief
of
streets,
yasha,
franklin,
hodge,.
B
Good
morning
and
thank
you
mayor
so
just
to
build
on
the
mayor's
remarks
on
snow.
You
know
we
had
a
couple
of
weeks
ago,
a
the
city's
first
major
blizzard
since
2015
the
seventh
largest
snowstorm
on
record
in
the
city
of
boston,
really
a
significant
weather
event,
and
I'm
just
like
the
mayor
beyond
grateful
to
the
incredible
work
of
the
public
works
department.
B
In
responding
to
that
storm.
We
had
a
record
amount
of
equipment
deployed
during
the
storm
and
immediately
following
began
a
five-day
cleanup
period
that
involved
trucking
more
than
2500
truckloads
of
snow
off
the
streets
of
boston,
widening
roads,
clearing
bike
lanes,
clearing
curb
cuts
and
ramps,
really
making
it
possible
for
people
to
get
around,
despite
the
enormous
amount
of
snow
that
was
that
was
still
in
the
city
and,
of
course,
that
was
followed
immediately
by
an
ice
storm.
B
What
we
saw
with
this
storm
was
just
what
it
looks
like
when
the
whole
city
comes
together,
works
together
towards
a
common
goal,
so
very
grateful
to
everyone
who
made
it
possible
for
us
to
get
through
this,
and
you
know
doing
it
in
a
way
that
I
think
gives
us
incredible
confidence
that
we're
ready
for
for
what
mother
nature
might
throw
at
us
in
the
future.
B
The
second
thing
I
wanted
to
talk
about
is
is
buses.
I
had
the
the
pleasure
of
joining
mayor
wu
last
week
to
for
the
launch
or
the
announcement
of
the
fair
free
bus
pilot
so
starting
on
march.
First,
the
number
23
28
and
29
buses
will
be
free
to
ride
for
two
years.
Anyone
can
just
hop
on
anywhere
on
the
line.
B
This
program
is
really
exciting.
It
puts
money
back
into
people's
pockets.
This
is
going
to
save
boston
residents,
hundreds
of
thousands,
if
not
more
dollars
over
the
course
of
these
two
years.
It
also
puts
time
back
into
people's
lives
when,
when
we
did,
the
the
the
28
bus
has
been
fair
free
for
the
last
six
months
and
we've
analyzed
the
data
from
that.
We
saw
a
20
reduction
in
boarding
time
for
the
bus.
It
speeds
up
the
bus,
it
makes
it
more
reliable.
B
Who
has
championed
this
idea
for
many
many
years
and
has
taken
something
that
I
think
many
people
might
have
said
four
or
five
years
ago
was
was
impossible
and
actually
shown
that
when
we
put
our
minds
to
trying
big
things,
we
can
succeed,
we
can
pull
the
resources
together.
We
can
find
ways
to
really
transform
essential
public
services,
like
like
transportation
in
the
city
of
boston,
so
a
lot
of
gratitude
and
I'll
hand
it
back
to
the
mayor
now.
Thank
you.
A
So
we
all
know
that
every
time
there's
a
big
announcement.
Not
only
does
it
reflect
just
hundreds,
thousands
of
hours
of
work
that
our
team
members
have
put
in
that
often
aren't
recognized
and
lifted
up.
We
want
to
make
sure
to
be
telling
your
stories
to
be
telling
just
how
free
bus
came
about
to
be
telling
the
stories
of
what
we're
doing
in
housing
and
in
our
streets
and
public
safety
and
all
every
single
department.
C
Thank
you,
madam
mayor
good
morning,
city
hall,
family.
My
name
is
jessica,
pierre
and
I
have
the
honor
and
privilege
of
serving
as
the
chief
of
communications
for
the
city
of
boston.
Our
team
works
on
press.
We
work
on
digital.
We
work
on
speech.
Writing.
So,
if
you
haven't
had
the
chance
to
meet
us,
please
feel
free
to
come
visit
us
on
the
fifth
floor
at
city
hall,
or
you
can
shoot
us
an
email,
we're
happy
to
meet
we're
happy
to
chat.
C
We
have
already
accomplished
so
much
this
year
and
there's
still
so
much
more
work
to
do,
and
in
order
for
us
to
do
that,
we
have
to
make
sure
that
us,
as
city
government,
we're
staying
connected
to
the
residents
here
and
we're
not
just
speaking
at
the
residence,
but
also
having
a
form
of
dialogue
and
building
a
relationship
and
building
a
sense
of
trust
with
our
residents.
Here
as
well
too.
I
love
this
city
and
there
is
so
many
important
stories
to
tell
here
and
that's
going
to
inform
our
work
for
the
next
few
years.
C
So
we
are
here
as
a
communications
team
to
support
the
work
that
you
all
are
doing,
whether
it
is
messaging
support,
whether
you're
looking
to
create
content,
whether
you're
looking
to
reach
out
to
the
media,
whether
you're
looking
to
host
events,
we
are
here
to
help
you
engage
and
get
those
stories
out
there
so
feel
free
to
reach
out
to
us,
we're
here
to
support
you
and
support
the
mission
of
getting
city
hall
out
of
city
hall
and
into
every
neighborhood
in
boston.
Thank
you.
A
Thanks
to
you
both
and
thanks
everyone
for
all
of
your
incredibly
hard
work,
we
have
a
lot
more
to
do,
but
it's
been
so
inspiring
to
just
see
more
and
more,
what's
possible
when
we
are
all
working
together
and
making
sure
we're
putting
our
residents
in
the
center
of
all
of
our
processes
and
all
of
our
decision
making.
So
thanks
so
much,
let
us
know
what
you
would
like
to
hear
about
for
the
next
broadcast
and
until
next
month,
stay
safe,
stay
warm
today,
and
thank
you
for
all
that
you
do.
