From YouTube: Fastest Bostonians of the 127th Boston Marathon 5/5/2023
Description
The Boston Marathon brings an international focus to our City on a Hill. However, this 127th Boston Marathon gave the City of Boston and the B.A.A an opportunity to look locally, and give out awards for the fastest Marathon performance from Boston residents.
Mayor Wu joined B.A.A president Jack Fleming at City Hall Plaza's new Pavilion Space to present the inaugural 'Fastest Bostonian' Awards to Vinny Castronuovo (Men's Winner) and Shannon Lamarre (Women's Winner)
A
A
A
All
right,
I
hope
everyone
is
fully
recovered
enough,
either
on
the
runner's
side
or
on
the
planning
and
execution
of
logistical
side
to
now
be
thinking
back
on
the
marathon
with
fond
memories,
instead
of
the
excruciating
less
moments.
But
we
are,
you
know
so
grateful
to
to
have
this
role
every
year
of
really
bringing
the
world's
best
athletes
to
our
city
and
fans
and
guests,
and
so
much
celebration
of
the
human
spirit
and
for
many
many
years
I
remind
me
again,
jack
127.
B
A
Or
100
for
126
years,
that
happened
sometimes
with
with
the
United
States
popping
up
with
special
recognition,
sometimes
with
some
more
local
Runners
being
ones
that
we
were
cheering
on.
But
it
took
127
years
for
us
to
fully
recognize
Boston
residents
who
were
participating
as
members
of
our
community,
who
are
here
year
around
day
in
and
day
out,
and
you
inspire
us
so
much.
A
You
are
part
of
our
local
running
community
and
part
of
our
local
neighborhoods
and
and
Civic
Community
here,
and
we
wanted
to
celebrate
you
as
representing
our
city
in
an
extra
special
way
during
the
Boston
Marathon.
So
I'm
gonna
I
want
to
invite
up
Jack
and
rep
Ryan
too,
because
I
want
to
make
sure
they'll
have
a
chance
to
speak
after
me,
and
then
we
want
to
give
Vinnie
and
Shannon
a
chance
to
say
a
few
words
too.
A
But
just
a
few
notes
on
who
we're
celebrating
today
we
are
celebrating
the
fastest
bostonians,
so
Vinnie
and
Shannon
were
able
to
be
here.
Danielle
was
not
able
to
to
be
here
and
we're
going
to
make
sure
that
they
received
their
award
appropriately
and
and
with
just
as
much
pump
and
Circumstance
as
well.
But
I
will
introduce
our
our
two
honorees
present
today.
The
fastest
Bostonian
man,
Vinnie
Castro
Novo,
two
hours,
25
minutes
and
56
hours.
A
I
will
not
tell
you
how
many
miles
I
can
do
in
that
period
of
time.
It
will
be
said,
but
a
personal
record
for
Vinnie
two
minutes
faster
than
his
time
in
last
year's
Marathon.
He
is
a
23
year
old,
South,
End
resident
mechanical
engineering,
graduate
student
at
Northeastern
and
president
and
captain
of
northeastern's
running
club.
A
Also,
a
personal
record
and
five
minutes
faster
than
her
time
in
last
year's
Marathon.
So
Shannon
is
a
28
year
old,
Charlestown
resident
an
environmental
engineer.
Oh
interesting
I
see
the
engineering
connection
here,
environmental
engineer,
Greater,
Boston,
Track,
Club,
member
and
fifth
time
running
the
Boston
Marathon.
C
A
32
minutes
29
seconds,
we're
told
this
was
not
their
personal
record
and
it
will
be
about
28
28
year
old,
Austin
resident
team
lead
at
New,
Balance,
bu,
Alum
fifth
time
running
the
Boston
Marathon
and
also
ran
the
ran,
the
New
York
Marathon
in
November,
so
we're
so.
A
Before
I
turn
it
over
to
Jack,
I
want
to
invite
rep
Ryan
up
to
say
a
few
words.
I
was
sharing
with
Vinnie
that
there's
currently
a
vacancy
for
his
State
Rep
position.
B
To
bring
the
ingredients
from
the
state
house
for
the
entire
city
of
Boston
an
entire
statement,
and
to
congratulate
my
my.
B
Here,
which
is
a
warm-up
for
a
lot
of
you
folks,
that's
a
full
day
of
exercise
for
me
walking
back
and
forth,
but
thank
you
man
for
inviting
me
here.
A
B
Thanks
to
baa
for
just
such
a
great
event
for
127
years-
and
it
is
the
local
stories
that
make
it
such
a
great
event
and
I
just
remember
growing
up
and
watching
at
home,
with
my
dad
and
following
the
different
Runners
from
around
here
and
the
Hoyt
family,
do
I
get
that
right
and
those
are
the
stories
that
kept
it
an
international
sporting
event
such
a
point
of
local
Pride.
That's
what
our
Runners
did
here
today.
So
thank
you.
C
Thank
you
mayor
first
time
we
met
mayor
Wu,
maybe
winter
of
2022.
She
wanted
to
know
just
top
level
lines
and
we
talked
about
it
being
the
50th
anniversary
of
the
women's
race
in
coming
up
in
Spring
of
2022.
She
was
already
looking
ahead
to
the
10th
Remembrance
in
2023,
and
she
said
what
can
we
do
to
recognize?
Boston
and
ideas
started
to
emerge
and
really
wanted
to
for
everybody
to
really
know
that
that
the
idea
to
recognize
Boston
within
the
Boston
Marathon
was
mayor,
whose
idea
so
thank
you
for
bringing
that.
C
And
also
thank
you
Shannon
and
Vinnie,
and
we
know
Danielle
is
not
here
but
but
you
know
it
takes
a
lot
to
run
the
marathon.
You
are
influencers
in
your
own
family,
I
I
have
to
I,
can't
not
acknowledge
the
Northeastern
club
team.
Here,
I
I
first
saw
them,
maybe
in
Cambridge
around
the
Super
Bowl
Super
Bowl
morning
right
and
then
I.
You
popped
up
again
at
the
Cohasset
10K
I.
B
C
This
group
and
I
said:
what's
going
on:
we
just
got
like
45
people
in
the
group.
I
was
trying
to
chase
him
chase
him
chase
him,
but
wherever
they
go,
they
make
a
tremendous
statement.
I
don't
know
if
you
remember
that
you
would
kind
of
right
outside
the
building,
but
you
guys
have
a
fantastic
presence
wherever
you
show
up
so
keep
up
the
great
work
for
Boston.
C
But
Shannon
and
Vinnie,
you
know
wherever
you're
running
I'm
sure
whether
it
be
Charlestown
or
south
and
you're
noticed
right.
Yeah
people
say
you
know
good
luck
in
your
next
race
or
how'd.
You
do
it
Boston,
but
just
know
that
when
you
do
that
you
are
inspiring
others
to
maybe
not
run
a
marathon.
C
E
C
Chris
Miles
are
run
in
Boston,
but
we're
so
proud
of
the
fact
that
this
race
has
the
word
Boston
as
its
title
and
it
will
be
kept
and
be
known
as
the
Boston
Marathon.
We
all
share
in
that
pride
and
we
hope
that
the
other
900
000
bostonians,
who
run
the
Boston
marathon
every
year,
whatever
from
if
they
come
from
any
one
of
the
other
23
neighborhoods,
has
that
Pride
as
well.
We
know
that
they
do
they.
C
We
we
that
it's
one
thing
all
bostonians
have
in
common,
and
you
know
our
our
staff
team
at
the
baa
or
our
our
board
chair,
Michael
O'leary.
They
always
kill
me
when
I
go
off
script,
but
I'm
gonna
do.
C
We
do
community
events
in
different
parts
around
town,
but
you,
as
you
know,
fastest
Bostonian
I,
would
love
on
behalf
of
all
of
us
today
to
invite
you
to
Be
Our
Guest,
as
well
as
Danielle
in
our
10K
on
June,
the
25th,
which
takes
in
different
neighborhoods
of
Boston,
but
also
our
half
marathon
in
November,
which
takes
in
even
more
in
different
neighborhoods,
starting
from
Franklin
Park,
to
make
playing
Dorchester
area.
So
we
would
love
to
have
you
if
your
schedules
allow.
So
congratulations
on
behalf
of
the
Boston
Athletic
Association.
B
A
We'll
have
to
like
Miss
America
has
the
thing
that
they
go
to
everything
with
we'll
have
to
make
sure
that
you
all
are
properly
celebrated
and
keep
the
mantle
up.
Can
anyone
who
anyone
in
this
room
who
ran
in
Boston
this
year
raise
your
hand.
A
A
Boston,
thank
you
amazing.
We
want
to
make
sure
that
we
continue
to
grow
this
celebration,
also
not
only
each
year
of
our
fastest
bostonians,
but
everyone
in
Boston
who
ran
in
the
marathon,
but
everyone
who
also
is
is
part
of
the
running
Community
across
the
Greater
Boston
area.
So
we'll
we'll
delegate.
A
Help
us
grow
this
year
after
year
after
year,
so
we
want
to
invite
up
Shannon
and
Penny
to
say
a
few
words.
F
Running
has
been
a
big
part
of
my
life
for
a
while
now
and
the
just
the
energy
surrounding
running
in
this
city
is
incredible,
and
it's
really
what
keeps
me
running
every
day
and
the
Boston
Marathon
itself
is
the
most
fun
race,
I've
ever
run
and
I've
got
to
do
it
twice.
So
that's
really
exciting
and
also
shout
out
to
my
team,
some
of
which
are
here
and
they're,
also
incredible.
Best
club
team
in
the
country
actually
yeah.
That's.
E
Yeah
thanks
everyone.
Oh
this
is
a
big
honor
I've
been
in
Boston
for
I,
guess
the
last
six
years
and
I
think
running
is
such
a
huge
Community
I
think
once
I
moved
to
a
different
city,
just
finding
other
people
to
run
with
is
just
how
I've
made
a
lot
of
great
friends
and
a
lot
of
support
with
greater
Boston
Track
Club
to
to
run
to
run
the
long
runs
and
train
for
the
Boston
marathon
every
year.
So
great.
Thank
you.
