From YouTube: Boston Neighborhood Sports - 5/30/17
Description
it's city championship time in the BPS spring sports season and we bring you all of the action from the city track championships, along with highlights from the softball diamond on this edition of Boston Neighborhood Sports.
A
At
the
end
of
the
school
year,
approaches
so
too
does
the
end
of
the
high
school
spring
sports
season
and
in
the
city
of
Boston,
the
regular
season
usually
ends
with
a
city
championship
on
Wednesday,
the
city
track
championships
were
held
at
historic
white
stadium,
first
step
of
the
track
championship.
Since
the
girls
100-yard
dash
Meryl
ban
tefa
from
O'bryant
takes
home
the
gold
for
the
Lady
Tigers.
In
that
event,
then,
meanwhile,
for
the
boys,
100-yard
dash
is
gonna,
be
Jay,
Sean,
bashed-in,
taking
home
first
place
for
the
Brighton
fangled.
A
He
won
that
race
last
year,
as
well
also
for
brightness
Ricky
Francois
taking
home
the
400
meter
gold
for
Brighton
on
Wednesday
afternoon.
Also
later
on,
it's
the
girls,
eight
hundred
yard
dash
in
it
Sarah
Lawton,
get
first
place
of
Snowdon
and
Fenway
high
school.
Then
the
boys
800
it's
Rodney
George
from
O'bryant
coming
home.
So
therefore
the
Bryant
Tigers
they
would
win
a
lot
more
races,
both
of
my
girls
envoy
side
as
well
speaking
of
O'brien.
A
That's
the
girls
2
mile
run
that's
Catherine
Keating
for
the
Lady
Tigers
winning
gold
in
the
girls
to
mild
in
on
the
boys
side
up
for
the
two-mile
baby.
You
see
the
start
to
that
race
and
finishing
it
up.
Once
again.
This
season
is
Kenneth
Holman,
who
also
won
the
one
mile
on
the
boys
side
for
Boston,
Latin
Academy
and
later
on,
for
the
hurdles.
It's
the
girls,
400
yard
hurdles,
that's
dish,
Donna
Perry
for
O'brien,
take
it
home
the
gold.
A
Then,
meanwhile,
on
the
boys
side
for
East
Boston,
they
get
home
the
gold
in
the
100
yard,
hurdles
with
Elvis
Navarro,
then
for
the
girls,
400
yard
hurdles.
Well,
it
was
based
on
a
Perry
once
again
for
O'brien
taking
home
the
gold
and
then
on
the
boys
side.
He
400
yard
hurdles,
it's
Navarro
again
for
both
Navarro
and
Perry,
when
their
respective
two
hurdles
races
there
on
Wednesday
afternoon.
Next
up
it's
the
relay
for
both
sides
versus
the
girls
or
by
100-yard
relay
in
new
mission.
A
If
their
tough
start
would
take
home
the
gold
in
that
one
and
then
for
the
boys
side,
400
yard,
for
by
100-yard
relays,
Brighton
I'm
an
arms
with
gold.
In
that
event,
then,
for
the
girls,
it's
before
by
400
yard,
relay
and
Snowden
flash
Fenway
here
in
the
starting
block
on
the
outside
lane,
they
would
come
home
with
gold
when
the
girls
for
by
400
then
for
the
boys
for
by
480.
A
To
start
to
that
race,
I'm
on
the
final
races
of
the
afternoon
and
a
Bryant
would
come
home
with
the
gold.
It
is
Rodney
George
finishing
it
off
boys,
high
jump,
David
Edouard
out
of
Boston
Latin
Academy,
he's
clear
six
feet:
two
inches
for
Latin
Academy
dragons.
He
takes
on
the
boys
high
jump
for
the
second
year
in
a
row
and
for
the
long
jump
on
the
girls
side.
That's
Latin,
Academy,
Lea
van
der
Linde
taking
home
third
place.
I
was
actually
Brianna
Stoltz
from
Brighton.
A
Who
would
wins
the
long
jump,
that's
Johanna
from
East
Boston,
bringing
the
long
jump
for
the
boys
side
and
then
now
we
go
to
the
shot
foot.
That's
Raven
Riggs
out
of
Boston
Latin
Academy
good,
throw
by
her
there,
but
she
would
take
second
place
in
the
shot
put
Taylor
drum
from
Quebec
community
of
Academy
of
Public
Service.
Would
it
take
first
place
new
on
the
boys
side,
port,
the
shotput
as
Francois
Sousa
fires
out
of
Brighton
winning
the
shot
put
on
the
boys
side?
A
There
you
see
the
rest
of
the
results
from
the
girls
side,
both
in
the
races
and
the
field.
Events
on
Wednesday,
you
see
O'brien,
take
it
home
a
lot
of
gold
over
afternoon
there
with
Latin
Academy
any
sauce
and
also
winning
a
couple
of
events
on
the
girls
side.
Also,
on
the
boys
side,
you
see
a
little
bit
more
parity
there
as
Brighton
wins.
A
couple.
A
They
get
the
goal
on
Wednesday
afternoon
the
very
impressive
performances
from
some
seniors
who
won
events
for
the
second
and
even
third
year
in
a
row.
Now,
of
course,
when
it
comes
to
Memorial
Day,
the
sport
we
often
think
of
is
baseball
because
of
the
impending
weather,
the
baseball
city
championship
was
moved
to
Sunday,
but
the
softball
city
championship
was
held
on
Monday
morning
with
11-time
City
champion
Latin
Academy,
squaring
off
against
Boston
North
champion
o
Bryant,
let's
head
out
the
daily
field
in
Brighton.
A
For
this
one,
they
see
Olivia
McGrath
the
ACE
for
Latin
Academy.
She
was
tilting
the
rubber
for
the
Lady
Dragons
and
she
was
cooking
early.
There
you
see
in
the
second
inning
lap.
Kenna
me
up
wonders
if
a
graph
gets
that
Lady
Tiger
batter.
Looking
she
struck
out
the
side
for
the
first
three
innings
of
the
ballgame
Salmons
there
now
Latin
Academy,
with
runners
on
they
get
the
double
center
and
Shan
Terry
Pimentel
comes
home
to
score
for
the
dragon.
The
next
batter
up
for
the
Dragons.
They
rip
a
double
down.
The
third
base
line.
A
Other
runner
comes
in
to
score
from
third,
as
Latin
Academy
leads
three
to
nothing
after
three
bottom
of
the
fourth:
that's
when
O'brian
bats
start
to
go
to
work,
booth
singled
to
center
scores,
a
run
there
for
the
O'bryant,
Lady
Tiger,
then
on
the
next
very
next
batter
they
carve
a
single
down
the
right-field
line.
Tigers
scored
again,
they
cut
it
to
within
one
after
four
innings.
A
The
Dragons
bounced
right
back
ahead
to
the
top
of
the
sixth
inning,
two
runners
on
from
Latin
Academy
to
Terri
Pimentel,
just
sophomore
with
two
double
down
the
left
field
line,
two
runners
coming
to
score
for
Latin
Academy,
as
they
get
three
runs
in
that
inning.
They
go
up
7
to
2
bottom
of
the
seventh
two
outs
and
McGrath
once
again,
with
the
strikeout
gets
that
bad
or
swinging
McGrath
with
a
career-high
19
strikeouts
in
this
one.
A
As
the
Lady
Dragons
go
on
to
win
their
12th
straight
softball
city
championship,
Lady
Dragons
also
won
20
games.
This
regular
season,
for
the
first
time
in
school
history,
very
impressive
season
so
far
from
Latin
Academy,
the
dragon
softball
team,
as
we
mentioned
on
Sunday,
was
the
baseball
city
championship
and
well
that
Academy
successful
once
again,
they
defeat
he
fought
to
nine
to
five
Aiden
Revere
and
Castro
in
the
fourth
inning
had
a
bases
clearing
three-run
triple,
but
the
dragons
ahead.
A
Five
to
four
on
Sunday
Roberts
field
in
Dorchester,
Saturday
wins
both
these
softball
and
baseball
city
championships
over
the
weekend
lab
Academy
with
a
very
successful
weekend
on
the
diamond
and
the
boys,
Latin
Academy
volleyball
team
won
their
City
championship
match
just
a
little
over
a
week
and
a
half
ago,
so
they're
going
to
have
to
make
some
room.
The
trophy
case
is
over
on
Townsend
Street
Dorchester
folks
is
going
to
do
it
for
sports
this
week.
Good
luck
to
all
the
city
spring
sports
teams
and
athletes
in
their
respective
upcoming
state
tournaments.
